Cons: "KLM lost my suitcase and did not deliver it until three days later... They refused to compensate me for having delivered the bag with broken articles inside (A pair of Rayban Wayfarers!)"

Pros: "Pumpkin soup instead of a heavy entree was welcome and tasty. Breakfast yogurt portion was generous, the granola less so. Accompaniments were good. Butter was not ice cold, thank goodness."

On my short flight from Basel to Amsterdam, a young French speaking girl was concerned about how to manage getting to her next gate. The flight attendants talked to her and arranged for someone to take her there. On my longer flight from Amsterdam to New York City, there was a customer who was in distress about missing a previous flight and not making it to her connecting flight in New York. One of the flight attendants reassured her until she stopped crying and calmed down. That same flight attendant was always so positive and cheerful in all she did. The rest of the crew was top notch. This was my best experience flying in such a long time. Well done, KLM crews of flights 1984 and 0645 on July 10!"

I just filed a claim and got rude service saying I should have filed the claim at the airport baggage area but there was not anybody there to do the claim then he agent upstairs said they just spoke to them and they are there and I should have done it there. This was so rude and there is no way to get back into customs area. If we paid 200 for bags I expect them to arrive on time. I’m asking for a refund of the baggage fees."

Relaxing atmosphere, comfortable seating, great in-flight entertainment, although I have the go-go in-flight data/entertainment plan with t-mobile (highly recommended), the flight included a decent selection of movies, television programs, etc. The food far exceeded typical "airline quality," even for an international flight - and included a fabulous little snack box with locally sourced gourmet and specialty items such as chocolate from Belgium, fine cheeses from France, and crackers from England. Drinks = gratis, and crew was exceptionally attentive and went out of their way to make flight as pleasant as possible."

And because the back of the seat is against the wall of the bathroom it could not be leaned back either. The entertainment screen is so close to my face I could not look at it directly. I was probably the only Black guy in there. I wonder how they found me that seat. It was a Nonstop flight, I will fly China Southern every chance I get because I just want to get from point A to point B. But, I'll be asking more questions about my seat assignment before accepting it."

Cons: "Service can be very erratic. On both long-haul CSA flights I took, attendants spoke poor English, which was surprising given the route. This is a perfectly OK airline for the price. You get what you pay for, in a way. But if anything drifts from the original plan, you're screwed. On Thurs Jan 4 we were diverted to Chicago due to bad weather. CSA has ZERO ground presence at Ohare. They gave us poorly-worded, vague instructions while still on board the aircraft for how to proceed once we disembarked-- and then their crew went off to hotels and rested, while most of the passengers stood stranded and confused in the airport terminal with NO assistance whatsoever. We were NEVER formally told when to reboard, or when our flight might take off again for JFK. We were NEVER told what kind of arrangements would be available for passengers to rest and recover-- and we landed around midnight, mind you. Passengers shared info with one another that they gleaned from 3rd party websites-- we all helped each other out, because CSA was useless. I recognize that it was an unusual situation due to extreme weather but it was indicative of the kind of customer service one can expect. Which is, not much."

We were placed in Row 63, which is the LAST row on the plane and does not recline. For a 15 hour flight this seating should not be used. It is completely unreasonable to think people will be ok not reclining, and honestly the seats felt more straight up than the normal seats. After discussing it with the crew for half an hour on a full flight they were able to move us to other seats. But were unable to move us to business or first for a discount. End point: these seats should not be used! It was so miserable even thinking we might get stuck with them. And if they do stick people there you should be comped, that was not worth the same fare everyone else payed for coach."

Cons: "Although our plane was at a gate and had the connector ramp attached, we were still required to "cram" into a bus for a 10 minute ride to the plane and entered by lots of stairs. You are not permitted use of phones even while in airplane mode with no explanation given. When we asked for water to be able to take necessary medications during the flight, we were told we had to wait a couple hours until the next beverage service but were offered tomato juice and another beverage. You are asked to prepare for landing 45 minutes prior to landing. I have never had to prepare for landing so early in a flight. Not necessarily a flight issue, but Guangzhou airport has a poor system for locating your connecting flights. There were 2 potential terminals and you had to walk to the beginning of either terminal to locate a flight information board. Then had to walk back to the other terminal if that was where your flight was located. Frustrating."

Pros: "Having flown internationally often, but never on China Southern, I was more than impressed and please with the complete experience."

Cons: "Everything apart from the flight was terrible. Customer service is a nightmare to reach. You have to push a button every 30 seconds to indicate you want to remain on hold. I had a long layover and they put us in a dump of a hotel too far from the airport to get back by myself, with no staff able to communicate with any English, no working internet, and not even a map. I had wanted to visit a nearby city and instead had to spend 19 hours in a bad hotel. They also confiscated my external battery from my checked luggage (my fault) but have provided no way for me to get it back unless I'm in China."

Cons: "The flight was delayed for 1.5 hours, so I arrived at JFK,NY at 6:20am, with my flight to Baltimore at 7:59am. I have to go through Customs, then claim my baggages which took a while to come, then recheck the baggages which at that time 7am I was told was already late, but eventually took them when I told them my flight was delayed. After that, I have to go to screening with a long, long, long line of people. I finished at 7:45am, now I have to go to my gate B55, so starting from B18, I was both running and walking fast, asked 2x a staff if there's a faster way, but was told I have to walk through it. I heard overhead paging 3x final calls for my flight. I eventually made it a few minutes before the door closed, but I was really catching my breath when I finally sat on the plane. I hope this won't be experienced by anyone else, as it wasn't a good experience!!!"

Cons: "I wasn't allowed onto my flight home because I missed my flight from Guangzhou to Seoul. Ridiculous that it was "for security reasons," but I could pay more money (cost of an entirely different flight) to bypass the protocols. I ended up getting a ticket from United that cost less than what China Southern was asking me to pay to get onto the flight that I had already paid for... My takeaway from this is use websites like these to find airlines that are offering cheap flights and then just go to them directly to buy the tickets. Easier to deal with flight changes that way."

Cons: "Bizarre that I can't use my kindle (or others their ipad) during takeoff and landing- there isn't even any wifi, so no worries of interference. It's a totally pointless rule and left me bored for those approx 40 minutes."

Pros: "I had just suffered multiple breaks in my arm/shoulder and was returning to the States. I was in considerable pain and flying alone - this was the first flight out I could get. Everyone was AMAZING. From helping to rearrange seats, other passengers, and even upgrade to maximize comfort and minimize more damage to my arm to helping open any food packages so that I could eat with medication and checking in on me frequently, I couldn't have asked for better attention given the situation. I hadn't heard of this airline before but now highly recommend - they were amazing through two flight legs, two different airline crews, and 3 airports. Cannot thank the crew enough for their attention and care during a very difficult time. I am a frequent traveler and this is the best customer experience I've ever had."

The passenger looked okay, may be he had a phobia or may be he just wanted to get a better seat, which in the end he did. I did not have enough space in my seat 38A because the neighbor leaned constantly over to me. I moved away to a seat where there was no movie."

Cons: "I had a 13 hour layover in Guangzhou and was told a voucher was offered for a hotel and a meal. I figured with this layover I could possibly see the city while I waited but a damper was put in those plans. It took me 3 hours to figure out how to acquire the voucher due to not having any assistance from the staff or them not speaking English. The airline basically chose the hotel for me because it would have been another hour wait if I decided to change the hotel. Upon arrival at the hotel I met another passenger that had been in the city for 2 days back and forth to the airport because her connecting flight was late to Guangzhou and the airline had no space on the other flights. The wifi connection at the airport was poor and I was unable to use the food voucher at the time I arrived as it could only be used for breakfast. Their is no wifi offered on flight and the food was okay."

I was finally able to track down a international supervisor who was able to print out my boarding passes and let me board my flight. Unfortunately, another family with small kids were dealing with the same issue as me only their flight was leaving in 30 mins. I hope they were able to make their flight."

They offered a meal that they cooked in-house, but the wait to receive one was absurdly long and seemed rather dicey. This was confusing as they had provided me with a food coupon in Bangkok for the initial delay, so their customer service policy is rather confusing and comes down to how they feel in the moment. They really should have been more accommodating."

Took almost 30 minutes just to get the boarding pass to wait another 30 minutes to go through passport control and another 20 minutes to go through security, we narrowly made our connection. In New York it took an hour and 15 minutes to get our bags... flew business class, our bags should have been towards the first half of the bags off the plane, our limo driver almost left because he had waited so long for us."

There was a whole group of us that were hauled off to a hotel for the night which had the worst heat everrrr. It was freezing! We slept in several layers of clothes. It was their fault we missed our connections. Our flight coming home got delayed again. Crew is rude and rarely even smile. Their ability to help you or explain things is poor. The plane is beautiful and actually comfortable though and they do feed you. The food was not bad."

Cons: "Almost could not board my flight back home from Korea as China Eastern changed the departure time of my connection in Beijing by 20 min. After dealing with customer service for over an hour they let me board the flight I already paid for! Middle isle, middle seat at the back of the plane for 14 hours. 1st meal had a very fishy smell so many on the plane didn’t eat it. Someone was smoking in the bathroom too which added a nice smell to the cabin. 2nd meal was a bit better. My seat was pretty tight. (I am 6’2” 230 lbs) Every time I take China Eastern I think to myself never again, but every now and again I have no option. Customer service is almost non-existent if anything goes wrong. They are the only airline that I have issues with almost every booking."

Cons: "Contacting China eastern airlines customer service was very painful. Accent differences being the major contributor for the cause. China eastern website was giving errors out most of the times while we tried to make seat reservations. Ultimately, the seats we reserved online were not given to us for both of our return flights. Special meals ordered was also not provided to us, stating that we were supposed to reconfirm the meals selection once again during check-in time, which I something we have never done in the past with any of the airlines; I did that for my last flight and bingo - I got the special meals for that flight alone. Anyone asking for special meal - please note this point; it doesn't harm to reconfirm though it sounds like an unnecessary step. Shanghai airport has very limited options for vegetarians. Kimchi noodles, Kimchi cake and Bibimbap were the only good options if you are a vegan. Landing was not good: As the flight had to wait for the runway allocation due to early arrival, flight was going in circles near the airport area, climbing up and down; vomiting sensation!!"

Pros: "CE has B777 to/from JFK which are up to date and comfortable. The biz class is similar to all others, lie flat and more than enough entertainment. The flight attendants are fantastic, always willing to do what ever they can."
Cons: "Often you must deplane/board from the tarmac on connecting flights in PVG. Of course only an issue during in climate weather or if you have difficulty with steps. They are building another terminal so hopefully in a year or so all flights can board form the terminal."

I had 3 flights, total of 6 connecting flights booked at once for 2 people (therefore total of 12 connecting flights) For some reason 1 of the 12 boarding passes had the wrong passport number printed on the boarding pass. Had to speak to a China Eastern representative at the airport who was very unhelpful. After an airport employee (not affiliated with China Eastern) spoke to the China Eastern rep, the rep claimed there was no problem all along. I was in a Changsha, China at the time so few employees spoke English. Luckily my girlfriend sole Chinese otherwise this would’ve been a much worse experience."

I had no problem for outbound trip from New York to Zhengzhou. But for inbound trip from Zhengzhou to New York, we missed the flight due to China Eastern Airline's very bad customer service. At the airport check in, we were told passport ID number did not match the Eastern Airline flight tickets passport ID number. The check in clerk let us to make changes at Eastern Airline counter. The guy from EA just changed my passport id but did not want to change my 7 years old son's ticket id. He was sitting there and did not care about anything. I told him we were going to miss the flight, he gave me a phone number 95530 to let me call EA in Shanghai. I called and EA in Shanghai said I should change at EA counter of the airport. Man, it's a nightmare. The guy updated my ID number on my ticket, but refuse to update my 7 year old son's ID number. So we had to reschedule to next day flight thru the China Eastern Airline USA. They charged $100! We finally got back to New York. They don't care we miss the flights and their customer Service Is VERY BAD"

The food was abysmal and I got sick from it on the way to and from my destination - I would not recommend that ANYONE eat the food. The attendants were rude and did not have a grasp of English - lots of reaching over, using hand gestures instead of words. People were definitely smoking on the flight - at least three of the four flights I took and I'm not sure how the attendants didn't stop the smokers. These were also flights where there was a lot of uncovered coughing, hacking and uncovered sneezes in addition to unrelenting farting. Neighboring passengers did not practice personal space and constantly leaned over on myself and my friend."

Pros: "China Eastern came in several hundred dollars less than the competition for our roundtrip international flights from NYC to Bangkok via Shanghai. Because of this, we were naturally a bit worried. China Eastern did not disappoint. Their check in process and boarding process is a bit lengthy; however, we boarded seamlessly and were able to be as comfortable as possible during our 15 hour flights. 3 meals were served in this time period, and a pillow and blanket and earphones were provided. There was never a long line for the toilets, and there was an ample selection of movies on the entertainment front. Overall, would use China Eastern again for our international travels to Asia."

Cons: "I am a very frequent flyer. This is by far THE WORST company with THE WORST customer service. I'll skip the details of the flight itself. We are getting ready to sue this company in the United States for their outrageous behavior on our way back from Phuket. We bought 3 round trip tickets from New York to Phuket and back with an overlay in Shanghai. On our way back, at 2am, when all offices are closed, the China Eastern team refused to put us on our plane. They notified us that our tickets were canceled without a prior warning (no refund, by the way). They couldn't help us by, let's day, selling us the same tickets again, and they did not offer any other accommodations. The manager refused to share his supervisor's information and concealed his identity by turning over his badge. They only told us to call the hotline number on the reservation. The number did not work. As we didn't have anywhere to go at 2 am, we stood by the registration counter and kept asking how the company was going to help us get back home since we paid a lot of money and did not receive any prior notice or at least a refund. The manager called six security guards and ordered them to get us away from the counter. Because of the China Eastern despicable customer service, we ended up overpaying $3600 for 3 people, missing an important business meeting, and losing wages as a result of a missed day of work."

Cons: "In two connecting flights I received meal 3 times, I ordered vegetarian meal, and all 3 times it was exactly the same. I am sure it has nothing to do with an airline but upon landing at JFK we were waiting inside the plane near the gate for 1 hour and 40 minutes before we were allowed to disembark. I am sure it was the airport's fault."

Pros: "I bought this business class ticket because it was ~$300 cheaper and had a long layover in Shanghai allowing me to visit friends. Boarding process could have been more orderly, but normal chaos for an Asian flight. Seat itself was fine though certainly not the level of comfort you'd find in other airlines that I wouldn't consider to be luxury airlines. Think Delta vs. Emirates. On this spectrum, China Eastern keeps company with Southwest or Spirit except I don't think these airlines have upper cabins. The food was inedible; attendants did not come through with snacks in between and I basically subsisted on a beer diet and what snacks I Had in my carry-on from previous flights. All the movies had the English scrubbed which meant I could watch only if I wanted to watch a silent movie and read English subtitles as if it were the 20s. Cabin and crew were perfectly nice and I don't fault them for the airline's inadequacies."

The crew did not seem to know how to handle the lady or the crying of the baby. The annoying sound made for an the most uncomfortable flight ever. The crew did nothing accommendate us for the noise. A better seat up front, headphones or something should have been offered with out request! Even an apology for the out of control environment! Me and my mate will never take China eastern ever again! And will advise others to do the same. There were plenty of seats available to be moved too... The food was the only decent thing on the plan. The bathrooms where a mess and again the crew was horrible except maybe one, but that doesn't make up for the other 5 or so members who where suppose to be helping out."

Pros: "Flights were on time, quiet, and we were fed sufficiently. We purchased tickets separately, so requested to sit together when we checked in at the airport. They accommodated us to sit together for the first flight, but did not try for the second flight, which is mildly annoying. Leg space was great int he exit rows and pretty average in non-exit rows."
Cons: "The airline lost my travel partner's luggage. Despite a 5 hour layover, her bag did not make it to our final destination with us. While I understand this happens, what was really frustrating was the airline's, and lost luggage department's ability to provide any information about where her bag was and when it would arrive. They were unresponsive for 3 days. They did not follow up, though we tried calling, no one answered nor returned our messages. We finally got information after returning to the airport in person, and they bag was delivered within 24 hours of that in-person follow up."

Pros: "Air china has the worst service I have ever ran across and I have been traveling for years! The changed my flight a week before my flight out and rescheduled it to miss my connection flight with them. I spent multiple hours on the phone on hold waiting to talk to an agent and they did not pick up. I emailed them.... no response. Finally I went to the airport and the told me the best they could do was get me to my destination 3 days later or I could buy another ticket. Then they lost my bags on the way back. I doubt I will ever get my money back from them despite the fact I spent an additional $200 to get to where I was flying... avoid them if you can and if another air line is a few extra bucks more it my be cheaper in the long run"

Several times, I would ask for something (for example salt), a crew member would say...I'll bring it right over...and then disappear, not even coming over to say whether they have it or not. The flight was uncomfortable, mainly due to the toddler sitting next to me who was extremely loud and kicking everyone's seats around her. When asked to move, the flight attendant did look if there were seats available but said everyone's free seats next to them had been occupied because people were asleep, stretched out on them. When asked if there were maybe seats in the business class, the attendant wouldn't even hear of it, claiming that that is not area and thus she won't even check. Lastly, the food on China Eastern airlines always leaves me feeling a bit off. Freshness is just not their forte. But what can I say, their flights ARE cheap, so you get what you pay for. All in all, a mediocre experience, at best."

The staff were cold, at best, and rude, at worst. The food is one step below prison food. In my opinion, it was inedible. Every Air China flight I took (and I took 4) were the most turbulent I've ever taken, almost as if the pilot was purposefully trying to rattle us. Finally, one of the most annoying things about Air China is not being able to check in via app. Their tech is from 1987, so you have to go to their airport counter and endure long lines. I will NEVER fly with them again."

I saved games and movies I wanted to play onto my phone for my 20hr flight and learned from the flight attendant that phones usage was not permitted. What a waste. Plus their movie selections were very limited and a complete joke compared to American, Delta, Virgin, or JetBlue. 2. Food: HORRIBLE TASTING FOOD. Air China should be ashamed of themselves to represent "Chinese food" in this way. I found 3 out of 4 of my meals completely inedible and absolutely disgusting. 3. Most cramped seats I've ever flew in: These seats are just tests to see how much you can put up with flying."

They wouldn't even help me rebook my flight when they know I will miss my last connect flight."

The vending machine offered did not take credit card and we could not leave to exchange currency. On flight, the crew was the same, when I was in the bathroom there was a large bang on the door..I assume to let me know to get out as we would be landing soon...which we didn't land for another 30 minutes. Food was gross, same as above with drinks. I could go on and on..needless to say I won't be flying Air China again."

Cons: "Most important AVOID Beijing for transfer. 1.5 Hours on line, open unchanneled line with cut ins and it might be 2 hours if we were not a typical couple who walked past it not believing there could be sucha large line for merely doing and international transfer. This is of course after a long long walk with minimal signage. Good thing I scheduled a 4 hour layover - it became a 2 hour stand over. A horror. If I book that again I my wife may divorce me."

Pros: "My husband and I used Air China for the first time for our honeymoon to Asia. My biggest complaint is that many of the passengers on these flights cough and sneeze without covering their mouths. Speaking with a few natives from China, I learned that this was common in their culture. Please, PLEASE wear a mask if you decide to fly Air China. I got a throat infection and 103 degree fever from our flight to China. My husband got a sinus infection on the flight back. I personally will not take the risk again. The quality of the seats, service and entertainment are all mediocre at best. I'm use to seats a little bigger for international flights. The food also was very basic Asian dishes (rice or noodles and a protein in sauce). The service was just ok."

Cons: "So much carry on baggage no space for my bags."

Pros: "Lost my bag took 3 days to find. No updates incompetent baggage personnel food inedible. Fight attendants discriminate. Chinese man beside me got numerous drinks/snack I got one glass of orange juice ife at my seat broken and garbled. My electrical outlet did not work no compensation for lost bag"

Cons: "Horrible food In flight entertainment system was poor, outdated, very less choices"

Pros: "Slept for most of the 14 hour flight, but there were 3 tasty meals, great legroom for a 6'1 guy, and okay entertainment."
Cons: "The flight attendants aren't rude, but they're not pleasant, a bit aggressive and forgetful, or they just don't care about what you ask for. They kind of treat you like you're stupid, and by the middle of the flight, you're intimidated to ask them for things."

Pros: "Feet devices helped keepi legs elevated."
Cons: "Crew very rigid and militant. Windows were ordered to be open regardless of glair since I was sick and my eyes were sensitive to the strong light. Drinks were only offered once in a 13 hour flight. I had to keep going to the back to ask for it as I was dehidrated due to a bad cold..not a kind crew. Will not fly in Air China again."

Cons: "Announcements in Chinese (OK) but when live and not the tape one could not tell wheather the stewardess was talking in Chinese or English until she would say....thank you Need to improve their English, little difficult to communicate with them, otherwise very polite, attentive and clean."
