Be prepared to check your bag if it's too heavy. They made me check mine, and I never usually do that.

Hong Kong was a good connecting flight airport (though you need to dump all liquids between connecting flights as you need to go through a security checkpoint, which is a pain). Boarding was a bit painful due to disorganization (everyone rushing to board at once), not many power outlets near our gate worked, and airplane bathrooms were a mess by halfway through the flight.

If non peak time you can change broken seat in the flight. Mostly people fly AI since AI allows 2 check in baggage. Don't fly Air India in peak time if you don't have check in luggage. In same rate you may get United,

Take a tennis ball with you. It can help with the long flight - simply but under your feet and roll, to help with blood circulation whilst sitting for 18+ hours!

Keep your ipads with you & download movies because their entertainment tv sets are not working, Keep a portable charger with you for your devices, bring your own food on the flight so you don't starve because the food is mediocre.
