I’ve never been to a smooth South African Airways flight. Both on the way to South Africa and returning from there the entertainement system didn’t work.
The crew was nice, were so easy to talk to and they were so hospitable.
But I do not have appetite of boarding it again due to the rudeness that I was shown by those who were at the terminal 5. I was coming from Washington State. I boarded a flight from Washington to San Fransisco then from there to New York but none of these charged me the carry on bag. When I reached at New York they said your laws (south african airways) does not allow a person to have carry on bag and laptop bag. At this time I had already extra lagguage which I paid $200 and they told me to pay another $200 dollars for carry on bag. They were so rude to me they told me to leave the bag if I do not have money. I was stranded. I tried to tell them that I boarded two flight which they did not charge me. They said the flights has different laws. But when I was going to New York i used the same flight with carry on lagguge and my laptop bag. So I paid $400. When I entered the flight I was shocked to find that almost everyone had a carryon bag. I felt that they did that to me because I was black and they wanted to find advantage on me. I was so stressful because I had no where to go. I used Delta flight when i was coming to new york but I have never experienced this charges. Now international flight experiencing this horrible situation. . True paying $400 because I had carry on bag?? Am still stressful they took a lot to me. They did not gave me receipt. I asked them to give me receipt all what they were answering me was like "just go." I have never been in a such situation. That is why I said I do not have appetite of boarding South African airways again. Is it true that your laws doesn't allow people to have carryon luggage? If it is true why some customers had the carry on luggage?? my carry was small it was not 23 pounds. Am still feeling pain for what they did to me. I know the name of the woman who was rude. If you treat passengers like that, there will be no good. The complain customer.

The crew checking us in seemed to be doing it for the first time. F
Crew is very friendly, food is good, seating is proper, entertainment and ease of access are well provided.
Every thing was good
There was no option during check in to request meal options- ex vegetarian request.
The food has alot Indian herbs & tasteless , unlike the lounge which has excellent taste.
