Germany has restricted the entry of travelers who are arriving from outside the European Economic Area, except for nationals of Germany, residents with a residence permit, and D-Visa holders, and certain exceptions (detailed below).

Germany has also lifted restrictions on entry for travelers coming from the following countries: Australia, Canada, Georgia, New Zealand, Thailand and Uruguay. Travelers must have spent at least 2 weeks in the above-listed countries prior to their flight to Germany. Restrictions will also be lifted for entry from South Korea, China and Japan if this can be agreed on a reciprocal basis. The list will be reviewed every two weeks.
Entry from any third country is possible for travelers who can demonstrate an important reason for their travel. The list of important reasons covers German and EU citizens and any third-country nationals with a right of residency in Germany. Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "crew was pleasant"
Cons: "boarding was chaotic"
Pros: "The onboarding process was awesome! The rest was mediocre at best. The cabin was friendly but not helpful. They had weird policies which we have never heard or seen elswhere. The flight had huge screens that won't turn off, it was freezing cold and the crew had no idea how to help."
Cons: "More knowledgeable crew and maybe more crew members, as there were too few and the service took more than 2 hours to complete. Never seen that happen on a 7 hour flight."
Pros: "Friendly crew. Good food. Uneventful flight."
Cons: "Flight was slightly delayed in departure."
Cons: "More room. Not losing our luggage at the end."
Pros: "Smooth take off and landing"
Cons: "Free food for everyone since it was delayed"
Cons: "On the Copenhagen-Milan leg, since I was in the cheap seats, even water cost; $3 for a bottle of water. They couldn't even offer a cup of water for free? False economy. And I was told that I had to pay for my luggage at the airport, then it was $120 for 1 bag. Ridiculous!"
Pros: "SAS does it right with entertainment and food."
Pros: "Amazing crew"
Pros: "Efficient friendly service."
Cons: "We were economy so no food was provided, as expected so cannot rate. No entertainment was offered either."
Pros: "Check in at the airport gate was handled professionally."
Cons: "Bought our seats 2 months in advance. One day before flight, saw our assigned seats were changed, someone had our original seats 31G/H, and we were put in 48C/D. Could not get any assistance to correct the situation until we were at the gate and by that time no comparable seats were available. Also, my husband spilled his drink; one of the attendants said he was too busy to help with cleanup. Fortunately, another attendant came over after my husband went to the galley to again ask for assistance."
Pros: "Very friendly crew. Landed on time. The plane was full but it was no panic during disembarkation - everyone was silent. I have never seen anything quite like this before!"
Pros: "- Seats are fairly comfy (as much as one can hope for an economy seat) - Excellent meals. I'm impressed that I'm getting things like ganache and cold-pressed juice in airline snacks!"
Cons: "- Wish the entertainment/movie selection was better, or that the foreign films had subtitles,"
Cons: "Internet page for buying excess baggage was difficult to understand."
Pros: "Nice interior and good IFE on long haul."
Cons: "I did not like the flight from Malaga to Stockholm due to not having IFE or WiFi on a 4+ hour flight. Absolutely unacceptable in today’s travel market."
Pros: "Good food and a good entertainment system that comes with plenty of options. I really like that SAS doesn’t go for your wallet for every bag like jus about EVERY AMERICAN CARRIER!"
Cons: "Leg room could be more generous but then again I’m 6’3” so it is what it is."
Pros: "Very accommodating to me when I was flying solo with my 15 mo. old."
Cons: "The crew passed by me TWICE while serving food and I was not sleeping at that time. I had to go and ask for food myself. Also there was a delay about 40 minutes when taking off in CPH (CPH-EWR) because of a fuel-screen malfunction or smth. The pilot was very nice and kept us informed all the time. I still didn't make my connection flight due to the delay and SAS rebooked me which made my already long trip 8 hrs longer."
Pros: "On time, clean aircraft not too full!"
Cons: "Boarding was a little rough as the announcements in groups to board was not clear and lots of people got in line that should not have. - causing delays and frustrations. Handled poorly by gate team"
Cons: "Delay, no place to sit and wait"
Pros: "Easy kiosk check in, baggage drop off, good service."
Cons: "No advance discussion about emergency exit row seating requirements, and we were not allowed to even have a paperback book to read in this row. The flight was full and boarded, so not able to change seats."
Pros: "The flight was comfortable and the onboard crew were very nice."
Cons: "Since the flight was delayed taking off, the layover in Stockholm was very short. The airline did nothing to rush those of us through or contact our connecting SAS flights, and a few of us missed our connections by just a few minutes because of it. SAS did provide alternate tickets for me, but I arrived at my destination several hours late and the whole situation could have been avoided pretty easily."
Cons: "The flight was cancelled causing a domino effect of plans. I spent the evening and morning canceling and trying to reschedule plans. Your airline rebooked me for a flight the next day that ended up having air filter problems. I lost 3 days of vacation from the 10 total I get a year and from the 8 I had taken for my vacation."
Cons: "Flight cancelled without warning less than two hours before departure."
Pros: "Flight attendants were courteous and professional."
Cons: "Only offered coffee and tea during meals."
Pros: "The airline is very professional and the crew were very courteous."

Cons: "Not water for children."
Pros: "The food"
Pros: "The food was very good surprisingly"
Cons: "Again the seats are too tight and they should not be allowed to recline"
Pros: "It was a clean plane and entertainment was good."
Cons: "Crew wasn't nice unless you were Scandinavian. I asked questions about going into Stockholm for our long layover. How easy it was, etc. they were less than helpful. My daughter and I figured it out ourselves. Won't fly them on next trip. Air France or BA r better"
Pros: "Crew and plane good. Friendly and English was excellent."
Cons: "There was a delay because of a software issue. They had to shift people around manually because of it. Baggage Fee was extremely high (> $50)"
Cons: "Seats very narrow and tight."
Pros: "Very comfortable 11+ hr flight. I also had an empty seat next to me so maybe that helped? The food was great."
Cons: "I wish the landscape cameras worked the entire time!"
Cons: "Terrible service and they lost my sons car seat. Ruining my whole vacation here since we can't drive anywhere."
Cons: "No one from the flight crew gave us the border card. We waited in the border line only to be told once we reached the front that we needed to leave the line to fill one out. No guest on the Oslo to Edinburgh flight was given one."
Pros: "Comfortable seats."
Cons: "Entertainment center was not working for left half of plane (which included me). Crew was extremely lazy. I asked for a coffee and she told me to get up out of my chair and follow her to the back to get the coffee. Why couldnt she just bring me my coffee? My friend had the same issue, he asked for water and she had him come to the back to get it."
Cons: "Seats are allowed to recline to far. When you are sitting behind someone who has reclined their seat you have no room"
Pros: "tjis flight was on United Airlines. It was nice and simple"
Cons: "the landinf was ROUGH and The plane was very grimy"
Pros: "Easy boarding, food equate for economy, entertainment fine. No wine or beer inc, used in economy but not a big deal. Excellent seating if you know what to chose."
Pros: "A bottle of water along with the standard pillow and blanket at each seat. Never had a long line for the bathroom (dumb luck?)"
Pros: "connection was easy and quick"
Pros: "Everything. The service was great, plane was comfortable and the ride was easy. I will try to only fly SAS from now on"
Pros: "Boarded in a downpour, crew got us on board quickly through a rear door. Unfortunately, weather caused a significant delay, but who can control the weather? :-)"
Cons: "After purchasing ticket in December 2015, was placed on stand-by when arriving in Hamburg."
Cons: "Bought tickets 8 months before flight. Was put on Standby status. Unable to get confirmed seat assignment until about 15 minutes before flight. Wasn't sure we would make flight until new boarding pass was issued by gate agent. And that boarding pass bounced when trying to board plane. New boarding pass had to be issued with another seat assignment. SAS is on my no fly list."
Cons: "My luggage was lost"
Cons: "I was sitting next to a special needs man and the crew was extremely unhelpful towards him. He should not have been flying alone and they did not help him at all. When you handed out the customs form he told the stewardess he needed help and she ignored him. When I pressed the call button for him it took someone 35minutes to come back and then she told him she would help him after dinner. I pressed a call button the second time to help him find something and again it took over 30 minutes for someone to come back to us. If there was a real emergency this delay would have been a huge problem. The stewardess was extremely rude in general."
Pros: "Entertainment system."
Cons: "Food. In flight announcements were barely audible at times."
Pros: "Boarding was pretty much a free for all"
Cons: "Delay was ovet 4 hours."
Cons: "They could have told me more than 24 hours before my flight that they changed me to a different flight 4 hours earlier in the day!"
Cons: "On time arrival."
Cons: "More layover time. We bare made our connection to Milan because of need to clear passport line."
Pros: "Quick time"
Cons: "Blanket and better gate management at landing."
Cons: "I was lead to believe I was booking a flight on lufthansa. It turned out it was United in a confirmation email a few weeks following the purchase. Then 24 hours prior to boarding, a notification comes in that I am flying Air Brussels. This leaves me with confusion - which airport terminal to go to, where to check in, who to call, etc. When I finally arrive to the airport at JFK, I find there is no Air Brussels Check in and that I need to go to United. But United no longer operates out of JFK, so I was finally directed to the British Airways terminal to check in with Eurowings. The flight was supposedly a Eurowings flight in collaboration with Lufthansa and United but operated by Brussels Airlines. I’ve never before experienced this miscommunication and confusion with one single flight, especially in my home country. When I booked the flight, it was quite clear it was Lufthansa and I paid Lufthansa prices. I was very disappointed overall with the experience leading me up to boarding time and had I known it was not a Lufthansa plane and crew, I would not have booked it. I hope you can I understand my frustration as this was poorly communicated and manasged and was quite misleading from the start. I would appreciate some compensation or recognition for the confusion as I will no longer be using Kayak or third party booking sites due to the way this was handled. I am a loyal Kayak user, but this was just too much and nothing like I’ve ever experienced before."
Cons: "No apologies for being delayed. More than 4 hours. No explanation. Nothing. Awful service."
Pros: "Delays were clearly communicated with ample time to make changes if necessary"
Cons: "TEEEEENY WEENY itty bitty plane - hard to be comfortable- but fortunately it was a short flight"
Pros: "Easy connections, very timely and everything worked out great."
Cons: "Plane was full"
Cons: "Flight late for 2 hours and poor assistance"
Cons: "I had to check my carry on from DEN to DSM because flight was full which I was told I could pickup at gate.. at the gate the TSA agent was very rude to me as I was confused as where my bag was, which I had to to baggage claim."
Pros: "Boarding seemed smother than usual. I had an issue with a large back pack that wouldn't fit in the overhead due to a smaller plane travelling to Houston from Des Moines, Flight attendant was extremely helpful as it was expensive camera equipment and was able to stow it so that i didn't have to check it at the door. Most appreciated their sensitivity."
Cons: "The United crew really needs an attitude check. How can someone be angry at 6 am?"
Cons: "The plane was not at the airport on time and when it caused us to miss the flight they blamed the weather instead of the plane not being at the airport on time. They were rude and refused to give hotel vouchers."
Pros: "Flight left right on time and arrived to the destination early - which was great because i had an extremely short layover"
Pros: "Decent room on the flight. No food or drink."
Pros: "Same as above."
Cons: "Same as above."
Pros: "Friendly service,. On time"
Pros: "Everybody was so friendly"
Pros: "No delays"
Cons: "Everyone was super nice and gelpful"
Pros: "Quick and easy. Nice crew."
Pros: "I was treated wonderfully and had an amazing times."
Cons: "Everything was great."
Cons: "Attitude of gate agent, crews. Boarding penalizes all but highest level and they've demoted me since the merger and erased my 30 year history with UAL. Watched them mishandle a paraplegic passenger until another passenger swapped seats. Last choice for me."
Cons: "Tight seats, full flights"
Pros: "The crew worked quickly to get me another flight when I was not gonna make my connection flight."
Cons: "The plane malfunctioned and their time management of telling us when it was gonna be fixed was poor."
Cons: "Crowded, overbooked, made me check my carry on which made me miss my train. Took 4 flights to get to my final destination. Small seats, uncomfortable... list goes on and on"
Cons: "Cancelled flight. No true explanation. Lack of detail and delay caused me to miss other flight opportunities."
Cons: "My flight was originally at 10:25am and got moved due to fog to 11:00am which is understandable. But the plane gets in and the captain comes off and says he's clocked off. And that the next captain wouldn't be getting in till 2:40. I would think they would've had enough time to line up another captain knowing the fog was causing delays. It made me miss my flight to Houston. I just really think this all could've been avoided"
Cons: "The airplane needed to be swapped, which caused an hour delay and made me miss my flight"
Pros: "I loved it"
Pros: "Staff was ok."
Pros: "At least I made it"
Cons: "Flight attendant for United 426 to Chicago was rude, flight delayed and they weren't very helpful"
Cons: "Lack of updates"
Pros: "Everything's on time"
Cons: "The snack"
Pros: "The flight itself was uneventful and went as expected."
Cons: "We were instructed to hand in our hand luggage before boarding the plane which meant we had to wait in a long one after the flight to get the luggage back. HOWEVER, the plane had plenty of overhead luggage room to accommodate our luggage. We were told by the cabin staff that the gate personnel don't always check what size plane it is before requiring everyone to hand in their luggage."
Pros: "Flight on time, no delays or problems"
Cons: "Seating for midgets"
Cons: "About two hours before my flight, it was canceled after previously making an airplane switch the night before after checking in online. The I received an email while I was on the way to the airport saying that the airplane that I was going to fly out on was canceled due to airplane maintenance. While I am happy they didn't fly the plane while needing maintenance, they should have planned ahead and known of the maintenance or had a backup ready to go. Obviously it must have been something they just found, but in the big picture of things. You have to pay an way to much for a flight as it is. They should have to solve their own issues to honor their part of the contract. We (as customers) can't cancel a flight with out penalties. Why shouldn't they have to do the same?"
Pros: "On the trip from Des Moines to Houston, timeliness of flight was great. The boarding went smooth and was done quickly. The crew were friendly and courteous. Overall the first half of the trip was fine."
Cons: "I was extremely disappointed in the condition of my luggage when I picked it up plane side. The wheel was broke off and all the pockets had been unzipped and it appeared they had been rummaged through. I had to drag my bag through the terminal. I spoke with 3 individuals with United who referred me onto the next and each unwilling as the previous to help. I myself am in customer service and would never treat my customers the way I was treated by the employees representing your Airline. I would go above and beyond to make the sure that the customers experience was a great one in spite of the unfotunate incident so they would return. I have never flown United before, and I will not consider your airline in the future."
Cons: "I paid extra money for our seats so we cud sit together N I ended up on the front of the plane N my boyfriend clear in the back I'll never fly United again y the hell did I pay almost 25$ per seat to sit together to sit on opposite ends of the plane"
Cons: "United airlines plane from SLC to SFO departed 45 minutes late due to maintenance issue. Then the connecting flight from SFO to Bakersfield left 10 minutes early, thus resulting in a small group missing the connection. Spent Father's Day in the airport for 10+ hours to get on the last flight out of SFO to Bakersfield. Customer service was unhelpful and rude until they found out that the issue was at the fault of united Airlines and not external circumstances."
Pros: "They whole computer system went down all morning"
Cons: "I haven't made it. Their computer system was down all morning. I got a pretty inexpensive flight which was refunded. Although I can't go home, all the one way tickets are 3 times the price. Me and my 6 month old baby can't get home to his daddy."
Pros: "Crew was great!"
Cons: "They lost my bag for my entire vacation. They found it and "rushed" it to me, but it got waylaid in SFO and would have sat there had I not called them. Then they said they would deliver it to my hotel. When it arrived 4 days later, they said I could pick it up and they would not deliver it. I was 2.5 hours away. I told them to send it home, but they didn't and when I flew home 7 days later, it was still sitting in Munich!"
Pros: "Everything was great, no waits, and right on time!"
Pros: "That the flight was on time. disenchanted flight attendants. Makes you want to not need her assistance."
Cons: "Disenchanted flight attendants. For whatever reason, it is obvious that there is unhappiness. Not flat affect, just the look of disinterest, a look that tells you I don't care. In a customer based business it is so disheartening that the very person you may have to depend on to survive is not vested in the clientele that keeps her company in business, thereby insuring future paychecks. I'd like to communicate here that it wasn't all the attendants on either flight, but enough that it was obvious to anyone who paid even casual attention. I was flying home to California, so there were two additional flights a few days before the flights home. I never had any of the same flight attendants on any of the flight. As far as my observation of the attendants, as stated above, I think that speaks volumes. I will cite an example that happened on my trip from Iowa to Denver. I need wheelchair assistance, I walk with a cane, but not able to walk any distance. I pack a light carry-on, bring my purse, jacket and cane. I was being wheeled up the passageway in a regular wheelchair, and the man pushing me stated to the on-coming crew he "would be right back to get my suitcase, couldn't take both at the same time", and added " unless one of you could roll it up?". After an embarrassing pause, a female flight attendant said "Let the flight attendant do it. Add this to the list of responsibilities that aren't really my job." I actually twisted around to look at this person, I was so stunned to hear that! She grabbed my rolling carry-on handle and the look spoke columns. I was embarrased. Thank you. Debra K. Forsythe"
Pros: "On time, boarded quickly, checked my carry on all the way through Tampa for me"
Cons: "Obnoxious crew, repeating the same instructions over and over. No food, no entertainment. Short flight though."
Pros: "Everything was great and the trip was on time perfect"
Cons: "Fine until the unexpected stop but has to be done"
Pros: "Boarding was pretty quick and staff was friendly. I was in an emergency row so I had a little extra leg room in my middle seat. Also had wifi on this flight."
Cons: "Snacks need to be updated. I prefer the good old fashion pretzels, so maybe providing an option would be better."
