Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Cons: "Nothing evething is ok"
Pros: "The crew was incredibly attentive and helpful."
Cons: "Everything was good except the delay of the fight itself and then the baggage we received almost an hour later with priority tags."
Pros: "We finally got to Madison"
Cons: "There were 5 delays, with no explanations given. When the plane finally took off, after the 5 delays, it made it to Madison and sat on the runway for another hour because there was only one gate operating. In addition, when the plane was in Charlotte we were told that the cleaning crew was working on it, and when we boarded the plane was filthy; trash on the seats, on the floor, and in the pouches. American should be really embarrassed at how far it has fallen."
Pros: "Whole row to myself. Greqt movie, in early and informative pro of a captain."
Cons: "Less passengers or bigger plane means more room. Everything was perfect except for being uncomfortably cramped."
Cons: "Entertainment didn't work neither did the flight attendants. They sat in the back and quite literally did nothing, no juice and water. Worst service ever. I'll fly Delta from now on. American what happened to you?"
Pros: "Everything was excellent"
Pros: "Crew was on par. Not great, but not bad either. It was a tiny plane so we were all cramped in there."
Pros: "On time"

Pros: "Everything was perfect"
Cons: "Baggage was not that faster but was still okay Although improvements will be great"
Pros: "The flight was not even 1/3 full, which made everything easy. Was able to find a spot for my bad above my seat. The seats next to me were to empty, so that added benefit through out the flight. The in flight entertainment on the app is a not annoying if you don't download it first but there's a work around if you know it."
Cons: "Minimal food selection."
Pros: "On time professional staff"
Cons: "Old plane for this fight."
Pros: "Would fly again- irritated at how does a flight manage to get overbooked"

Pros: "On time"
Pros: "The crew was really nice and caring"
Cons: "The music and entertainment collection was very limited"
Pros: "Plane was cleaner than most. Not freezing cold like almost all other flights"
Cons: "Paid for upgrade that wasn't great. Next class down was just as good. AWFUL FOOD!! Worst I have ever had. HATE the new seat design. Cant lean against the window because of the gap. My purse fell through the gap onto the floor behind my seat. Had to ask the person behind me 3 times to please hand it back to me. The armrest doesnt go up which helps at times getting in and out. It is a large uncomfortable impediment. The remotes were all over the place, down in the seat, on the floor. No one could find the plug in for the headphones. It is in the most ridiculous place!"
Pros: "For the long flights business class is the way to go."
Cons: "I arrived at the airport and my flight was cancelled. I waited in lines for over three hours and was to finally able to book a flight with United. American Airlines refused to give me any explanation why the flight was cancelled."
Pros: "Crew was professional, flight was smooth."
Cons: "Plane was old. NO in-seat power, no USB chargers, no in-seat entertainment. TV monitors in the aisles? Is this the 1990s? One crappy movie? The "headsets" are a joke. Too many announcements - and I don't like it when they play movie trailers, commercials, etc. over the sound system. The food was horrific. I wish American Airlines would charge $20 more per ticket and provide some reasonable food. Everything just screamed LOW QUALITY. Lucky I had brought a sandwich and some snacks with me on board. The food was so bad that I didn't even touch it. They should just eliminate the food completely and tell people to bring their own on board."
Pros: "Friendliness and attitude of flight attendants to serve as help passenger"
Cons: "Entertainment screen was not operating satisfactorily"
Pros: "Personal TVs with many movie and game options. I also liked that I could view the flight map and timing details. Meals and crew were great too!"
Pros: "It's just like very other airlines."
Pros: "United airlines canceled a flight last minute that I needed in order to get to my best friends' wedding on time, I usually fly AA but the United flights were slightly cheaper at the time. The options United gave me would have had me missing the wedding, AA had more flights that allowed me to make it in time, considering it was booked 12 hours before take-off, it was decently reasonable and left on time and got in early (imagine that, United). Thank you American Airlines, again!"
Pros: "In flight movie options are great!"
Cons: "We boarded about an hour late but that happens."
Pros: "Good Airplane"
Cons: "Delays and baggage delayed"
Cons: "2 hours late. Kept moving the boarding time by 10min"
Pros: "Had row all to myself--that's a rarity"
Cons: "1hr departure delay"
Pros: "The fact that I was finally put in the plane at the last minute"
Cons: "The fact that I was confirmed on this flight and no one would give me a seat assignment. Not when I checked in 2 hours early for my initial flight from MHT nor when I arrived in Philadelphia to catch this next leg. They made me wait at the gate and then went and checked the plane and came back and said board and take any empty seat! Never again!"
Cons: "Baggage claim took extremely long time. It took a while before the baggage crew even became aware of situation."
Pros: "The crew was friendly, energetic, educational and very helpful"
Cons: "Des moines airplanes seem to be the left overs. Old and outdated."
Cons: "The flight was canceled with no warning that anything bad was even possible. No efforts were made to get the passengers to DC even close to on time. I ride ended up just having to rent a car and drive there."
Pros: "At 10 pm no one would help to get a room to spend the night. No vouchers. No help for a mother with infant. Had to find hotel on own."
Cons: "See above. Horrible. Absolutely horrible experience."
Pros: "We made it one piece and the pilot clearly made an effort to avoid turbulence by changing altitude constantly in search of smooth air."
Cons: "Crew brought food whether you wanted it or not. They loaded up my husband's tray table with food for 3, even though they were all asleep. I was sitting across the way, so, perhaps they didn't hear me say no thanks. The entertainment system was awful. You had to go through all the steps again and again every time you tried to simply check flight information. Annoying. When we arrived DFW customs, one of our bags was missing. Still in London. No surprise. LHR is awful. We would not see that bag again for nearly 4 days. They gave me some thing about a belt problem between T5 and T3 in LHR. We went from T3 to T3. No excuse. Probably fell off somewhere. Chocolates were a bit melted and chip bags burst. Whenever it was, it sat in heat."
Cons: "This comment is to explain my disappointment with both British Airways and American Airlines. I purchased three plane tickets via Kayak to fly on British Airways to Rome, Italy on July 14, 2016. I discovered that my trip going to Rome would be operated by American Airlines. I have flown American Airlines on a number of occasions (nationally and internationally), so I did not believe it would present a problem. I was sorely mistaken. My scheduled flight from DCA to JFK was delayed for an hour due the airplane's malfunction. My family and I were trapped on the airplane on the runway along with countless others. I thought this would be the end of the airplane ordeal, but again I was sorely mistaken. When we arrived to JFK, an hour later than expected, we were informed to go to Gate 47 for boarding. I checked on the status of the plane via American Airlines website. I discovered that the gate was changed, AGAIN, to a different location (Gate 14). For this trip I received over a dozen e-mails with gate change information. For ONE trip. I went to the American Airlines Counter to confirm whether the gate changed to 14. Your own personnel was not even aware of the change until I informed him. He originally said it did not change, but after I stated that the gate changed on the website he checked his computer system and made an announcement to passengers that the gate changed to 14. This is unprofessional. Your employees who are paid to work at the American Airlines counter should be aware of all status changes for flights. It gets better. Note my sarcasm. The flight gets delayed for six. To put it into perspective, my family and I were at the airport from at least 2:30pm until 10pm. This is utterly unacceptable. I traveled with my senior citizen parents. There are hardly any meal options for passengers with dietary restrictions to consume at Terminal 8 for JFK. While it was the least American Airlines could do by supplying healthy snacks for the passengers, a banana or orange does NOT replace or make for an actual dinner. Additionally, there was no announcement made about the snacks the first time. Only the second time. Next, American Airlines changed the gate location AGAIN, but to gate 8. Further adding insult to injury, the flight was delayed. My family and I are scheduled for a tour that is dependent on this flight arriving on time. Any further delay will bring about additional unexpected costs in Italy to make-up for the fact we arrived late. American Airlines is supposed to be a premier airline, but after today's experience I surely cannot see myself being a passenger for this airline ever again. Along the same token, since British Airways contracted American Airlines, this company also holds equal culpability."
