So here's the rub - my flight was booked through Chatdeal even though I bought it under the Kayak umbrella. All the return flights were theoretically through Air New Zealand, however except for the initial leg from New Zealand, they were all partnered flights. So when I arrived at the airport in New Zealand they could only issue me my ticket to Fiji. Once in Fiji I had to do some serious leg work and finagling to get my ticket to Los Angeles through Fiji Air. This included a monitored covid RAT that I wasn't aware I needed to do. So I gave the score I did because of the complexity and annoyance created in the process of getting a boarding pass for my Nadi-LA flight.

It was a very costly for us, a couple who is on a budget. i book From kayak all the time, and know exactly when I am booking an economy ticket vs a more upgrade. We had to pay an unexpected $320 on the day of flight. It was ridiculous and while we were boarding the flight attendants held us up again bc we had not paid the fee. But we tried to pay the fee at the front desk the first time and then we paid it at the gate and then boarded last on the plane. It was awful. The staff did not know anything and we were not treated great. Super unprofessional and disappointed at Kayak for not laying out all the costs ahead of me."

Our fault for not realising this at time of booking. Flight itself went very smoothly. Seats were fine. Not a huge selection of movies to choose from. Felt the crew went about their duties without fuss and ticked all the boxes for me."

Anyway, it was a redeye so people slept for most of it and I watched movies and drank wine. The airplane was clean and bathroom were as well. It was a full flight so a little cramped."

Cons: "I was booked on flight QF 74 from San Francisco, connecting in Sydney (3 hour connection) to Queenstown, New Zealand. When I went to check in I was told that I needed a transit visa for Australia because of my Indian Passport. When I booked the flight back in September, it was not a requirement to have a transit Visa. I was told by the Qantas supervisor that this was a new requirement as of October for Indian and Chinese passport holders even with brief connections. 9 people were in a similar situation the day before and denied boarding. I understand that things change, but I am very disappointed in the service provided to me. Of course, they could not help me get an evisa for Australia, but they were not even willing to help me search for it rebook a Qantas flight connecting in a different city/country. They did not even connect me with online reservations directly to quickly do something to be able to continue on my journey. They only gave me a phone number to call and sent me away. I tried the number and was on hold for almost an hour. Luckily, my friends were on a different flight on Air New Zealand that had seats leaving in 2 hours, and I almost missed that waiting to talk to someone from Qantas. I booked a ticket with Air New Zealand (by talking to their checkin agent, who was able to connect me directly with a reservations agent via a direct line, which was something I was hoping Qantas would help me with at a bare minimum) and I was able to purchase a ticket for that Air NZ flight and continue on. I’m VERY disappointed in the way that I was treated and not provided with assistance in a timely manner. I would have almost missed that flight and have to miss out on pre-arranged travel plans losing out on an additional $2000 in tour / accommodation bookings."

There were a quite a few passengers booked on the connecting flight but Qantas made no attempt to get us on board it and instead re-booked us for the next flight which was scheduled for 2.5 hours later but, in fact, left nearly 3.5 hours later. Breakfast consisted of rubber egg."

The snacks kept coming and the meals were delicious! We’re were treated so nicely, I hope to always travel on Qantas to visit my grandkids. My last United flight wasn’t even close to being comparable. In fact, I dreaded the thought of the long flight but Qantas has changed my view and now I have NO reservations when contemplating future visits."

I contacted the airline an hour after my flight landed and they showed no urgency to recover my item that had a lot of value to me. If they could have pages the cleaning crew on the ground, I'm sure I would have recovered my notebook. Instead they told me to check 4 hours later. When i did check 4 hours later, they told me to check in 2-3 days. When i checked in 2-3 days they asked if I filed a report. Which I wanted to on the same day but was told not needed. Very disappointing ground services."
Pros: "Despite the fact that there was a nearly 9 hour delay in Sydney, Qantas handled it as best they could. I received three $15 meal vouchers to use in the airport. And, since I missed my connecting flight, Qantas booked a hotel for me, free shuttle service to the hotel from the airport and rebooked me on the earliest connecting flight. I was of course inconvenient for this to happen but it was handled well."

Pros: "I was excited to come back to the USA after a long vacation. When we arrived at the airport, the security started asking me questions immediately even before I checked in. They demanded I show them the ticket before it was even printed. When I explained that I was trying to check-in for the first time. They told me I was going to be reviewed upstairs and put a sticker in my passport. I proceeded to check in and just walked thru the normal security measures. After scanning my bags in security, I discovered there was no security meeting and proceeded to my gate. After the gate, everyone in line was subjected to a second security screen. This was a manual search and all articles were removed and repacked again. Then we proceeded to the plane entry where everyone needed to verify passport and ticket again. Later in the flight, I was having indigestion problem from my documented medical acid reflux problem and asked for a cup of water. He said sure and walked away. He never came back again.10 minutes later, I pressed the attendant call button again. 10 minutes later and no one came over. 15 minutes after that Albert came back over and said, "I see you have your call light on, please put your seat back up again." I can complied and he immediately turned off the light and walked away. 10 minutes later, Albert came by with the water cart and parked it right behind my seat. He proceeded to hand out water to everyone behind my seat. 30 minutes later the water cart arrived and I finally received my water (75 minutes after I asked!) Thanks Albert, I'll be following up with your management to see that disciplinary action is taken."

The fare was outstanding--I was aware during booking that I would need to add on for baggage, seats, food, entertainment. Jetstar advertises itself as a lowcost airline. I thought I got good value for money. I see most complaints are coming from domestic Australian passengers."

The return flight was to follow the same plan but they told us it would be $160 AUD per piece at check-in! Granted, $160 AUD is only $115 USD but that's OUTRAGEOUS. They looked at the luggage and said we could carry it on! Who makes these rules?! The Aussies have it figured out but if you're an American with no prior experience BEWARE. The Aussies I spoke to refer to Jetstar with a much more derogatory term ending with star. Wonder why. If your goal is a comfortable flight to/around Australia, take another line. If you want cut-rate, cattle-class with a high risk of a screaming child in your ears (I was wearing noise-cancelling headphones), then choose Jetstar. For my purposes, Jetstar is no-star. I won't fly them again."

Cons: "Other passengers were too active for a night flight"
Pros: "Nice plane, attentive crew when needed. Great way to fly- They are candid about baggage and extras if you want to pay for them. I traveled with carry on only because I am a budget traveler- I basically traveled to Brisbane from Honolulu for what would be the tax on other overseas fights I have taken.."
Cons: "Not airlines fault.. but boy there were some screaming children on this flight.. I did plan ahead with earplugs :)"
Pros: "Safe arrival"
Cons: "$160 baggage fee for first checked bag. I thought I was getting a good deal on the flight price, but they gouged me at the check in counter. I won't ever fly with this airline again."
Pros: "Nothing. Be aware nothing is included in the flight. Blankets, pillows, movies, and all beverages and food are extra. On international nine hour flight they did not offer water or coffee."
Cons: "Did not pay for baggage when booking flight, we were charged $160.00 per 33 lb bag and $25.00 for each additional 2.2 pounds. We were charged over $400.00 for two bags weighing 81 pounds and my sister paid over $800.00 for three bags."
Pros: "Low fares!"
Cons: "Given the low fare it was fine, Very limited choices on entertainment package."
