Cons: "Para empezar creo q el del counter tiene un negocio con el que rapea las maletas porq me dijo que mi maleta esta overside y que la rapee para bajarle el tamaño. Que??? Cuando fuu a la maquina de plastico el tipo me dijo no son $15, son $25 porq es overside y en avianca te van a cobrar $240. Yo le dije q le ponga el plastico dejandome el mismo tamaño por 15, cuando regrese al counter ya me pasaron la maleta como valida de peso y tamaño solo porq le puse el plastico. La comida es siempre la misma cada vez q vuelo, deben variar. La asafata estaba de mal humor y apurada un poco mas me tira la comida. Ultimamente avianca esta malo, solo porq el pasaje es un poci mas barato q otras aerolineas creen que pueden tratar mal al pasajero."

Avianca has a culture of rude and “take advantage of people” culture. I went through hell on my last flight. Left us on our connection flight in Cali, Colombia made us (15 passengers) wait for our bus we all had to pickup and carry our luggage’s out to the streets rcause they don’t have enough money to pay for a cart when we were actually in that situation because for them. Next day we were transported (they show up 2 hours later from the promised time) we were transported to the airport to actually catch a flight to another different city to then arrive wait 4 more hours to catch a plane to our final destination... a 3 hours and 45 minutes flight from Miami turned into a 4 different city, hotel and nightmare, luggage’s were broke and everybody turned out to be rude rude rude rude!!!!!!... I am still waiting for my $200 promised Boucher. This is my last time flying with AVIANCA. I am a frequent flyer and have made the decision to fly AA from now On... Actually just purchased a ticket which was actually $100 more than Avianca... nothing like great service and respect towards your clients... I’m also making sure NOBODY flys with AVIANCA."

Pros: "After a 5 hr delayed in which the boarding and flying time get passing by without anyone acknowledging the constant delays, we had a safe and uneventful flight."
Cons: "No notification that there was a delayed until you checked at the counter. Rude attendants that would disregard questions regarding the delays and then offered $12 voucher for lunch as if they were doing us a favor. Our flight was delayed from 4pm until originally 7pm.. Then when 7pm came and went we had to continually ask at the counter, because no information was provided.. Kept being told just a few minutes until boarding and then when it was almost time to board, we couldn't because the flying crew was delayed going through security. SERIOUSLY.. wouldn't you think that after all the delays, the crew would have already been ready to board as soon as possible. For most of the passengers our delayed caused us to be at the airport for at least 8 hrs. Since they ask to check in at least 3 hrs. prior to departing... You tell me if $12 voucher is enough to hold off for 8 hrs. When a soft drink and a sandwich was at least $15.. and that was for the cheap ones. This was my first time flying Avianca and will be my last. At least AMERICAN AIRLINES gives flight vouchers even if they are only 2 hrs delayed. A $12 voucher is a JOKE.. and there were 3 of us in my family. And they acted as if they were giving you a free flight."

Cons: "We traveled with an infant who sat on our laps. We were never asked about the infant traveling until we went to check in at the desk and were told we needed to pay taxes for the baby at a rate of 10% of the cost of the ticket. But because we were doing it on the day of the flight, 10% was almost $200! We did not receive good customer service from staff, who simply told us we "should have known to investigate this." We have never been asked to do this when flying with a baby before! This was after an hour and a half of already waiting to check in our bags. We were waiting so long and dealing with this issue for so long that we almost missed the flight! A terrible experience. Also, the web check in line took even longer than the line of people who had not checked in online beforehand! It was so slow, it added to us almost missing our flight. It was a waste of time to check in online, especially since they gave us new boarding passes when we checked our bags in anyway. We also had trouble finding both of our reservations, even though we booked them together as a family, so we ended up with seats that were not together. When we had an issue, we were given an attitude by the staff checking us in."

We passed through Immigration fine, but after recovering our luggage, we were forced to give the luggage back and wait again at the carousel back at the main terminal to recover it again. Has never happened before."

Imagine my surprise when I check-in for an international flight and I'm told I can't check any luggage because it isn't included on my ticket. I ended up paying $210 to check two bags. Also expect to pay a bit more for decent seat assignments. My default seat assignment was at the very back of the plane, right against the rear bulkhead where seats often can't recline. So, another $60 to move elsewhere."

My son and I had to share one headphone. The food was really bad for an international flight, Not even the wine was given without paying for it"

What I can't understand is LATAM waiting until I arrived to the airport to tell me that it was delayed (instead of calling or sending an email) and told me that it is MY FAULT for not reviewing the website. In addition, at the counter they told us that we didn't need to do a line again for dropping bags in the morning. However, when we arrived the next morning we had to do a 40 minute line. The pain was compounded by a member of the staff yelling at me for asking him to be moved to a quicker line because I could miss my flight. I've always flown on Lan (now Latam) and I've never had this bad experience before. I'm really disappointed!!"

Cons: "First of all I bought my ticket through Kayak, but apparently something called the flight network was the issuer of my ticket apparently they are and travel agency in canada , first i needed to change my ticket and they could not do it , then I dis not use my outbound flight because I needed to get to my destinantion one day earlier and yesterday i received an email saying that my return flight was cancelled. they told me that since i did not use my outbound they automatically cancelled my return flight, I ended up loosing 300 USD because of mis information from that travel agency , the people that answered my call were very disrispectfull, this has been the worse experience and ai ended up loosing all my money I had to purchase another return ticket."

Cons: "I never experienced the flight because I wasn't given a seat. The airline oversold the flight and I never got to go. I missed my once in a lifetime experience because the airline is greedy at my (and other people's) expense. I missed out on a priceless experience. Not only that, the bag that I checked did not make it off the flight so I remained in DC while my bag went to Medellin. I had to purchase new toiletries and had to make arrangements to get back to the airport. As of now, I do not plan on choosing American Airline nor LATAM for my future flights."

Recently I have been flying economy and from the moment checking in to leaving the plane is a terrible experience. I have had on numerous occasions when checking in at the airport that I was lied to regarding the seat I was in. Or there was more than one person with the same seat. Food and the wine is awful. I would not even eat it if I was starving. When flying the overnight/ morning flight they leave the cabin lights on pretty much the entire way, their excuse is that they need to serve dinner, but who serves dinner at 0500 in the morning anyways. My last flight I asked if I could borrow a pen, and they told me they do not give out pens to customers. I will never fly LAN again except for business class. On American Airlines they are a lot more friendlier. Also a shame that they do not have a way of recognising the people that fly with them frequently, I have flown with LAN 10 times in the last 12 months. They have a bad attitude."

Cons: "I have a very bad experience. The first flight was delayed, so many people including me missed the connecting flight. They kept us till 2AM at the airport and made us take out all our luggage before taking us to a hotel. Then, there was a Flight leaving the same day at noon, but instead of acommodating us there, they made us wait till 11:59 PM for the next flight. They told us that it was a direct flight as it was initially scheduled from Lima to La Paz, but that was not true as we had to stop in Santa Cruz first. To sum up, there was a 28-hour delay in total. I was supposed to get to La Paz on Jan. 28 and ended up arriving on the 29. No explanations were given, but it is clear that they oversold as all flights were full. Avoid this airline if you can."

When asking a representative why work the machine worked the second time around, the representative said that “sometimes the machines don’t work, no real reason.” Frustration for no reason. Secondly, of the two bags our party checked, one of them did not make it to our intended destination. The Asheville airport, our destination, does not have a system to check the progress or location of checked luggage. Completely inept system and service."

Turns out it ended up being just as much, if not, MORE because when it was time to check in you had to pay extra. It was an extra $45 a person for each carry on. AND you had to pay $18 extra each person each way for the ability to pick seats (to guarantee we sit together). This would have all been fine had the trip been a comfortable one, but there was no plus side to taking this flight over a different airline. There were no TVs, no way to charge a phone, no shared movie where you could even attach headphones and listen. No just stare at each other, talk, or sleep was it. Never. Again."

Pros: "Flying from Fort Lauderdale to DC, our boarding gate was switched without adequate notification. While up headed to the bathroom I noticed the flight information changed. When I asked the gate “Spirit” gate attendant, who was there the entire time, she told me the gate changed. I went to the new gate where the incoming flight was already deboarding the plane. 10 minutes later other passengers from my flight began to arrive complaining about sharing electronic notifications because the attendant made no attempt to let passengers know the gates had changed. She did publicize other gate changed a while I was at the original gate, but never announced my flight’s gate change. Claiming bags in DC was also an unorganized event. I understand the no frills concept but I can’t recommend Spirit to anyone I wish to remain friends with, no matter how cheap the tickets are."

He looked disgusted and was shaking his head and acting like they committed a crime. The opposite approach could be to be friendly and just go with the flow, it won't be the first or last time you will have people running late in an airport. On top of that, no one is perfect and I would bet every dollar in my savings account that he has been running late before. I hate Spirit and would never fly with them if I wasn't forced to based on job requirements. I'm honestly surprised Spirit is still in business. Remarkable."

Pros: "I had a bad experience which I had not had in my life. First of all this airline delayed in Phoenix to Dallas about one and half hour, which I accepted cause one of my agent called me before. I missed my connection at Dallas to Fort Launderdale, I stayed at the airport for 12 hours. On my way back to Phoenix they did the same thing. I went to customer service at Fort Launderdale airport to complain about it nobody cared. imagine you delayed your customer for two times and you don't want hear her/his concern?"

Not only was I in danger of missing my cruise, I had to find other means of transportation as there were no flights available according to Spirit until Sunday Aug 20th , where as my cruise was scheduled to depart on Aug 19th... The customer service was horrible.. They made no effort to help customers only saying we could get a refund and another carrier@ an additional cost to consumers.. Long story short I'll never frequent Spirit Airlines again .. I'll also urge all my family friends and colleagues to do the same.. The so called low ticket prices are totally not worth the headache with all the additional nickel and dime efforts they make yogurt the low ticket prices they initially charge you.."

Cons: "Flight departed early leaving me and several other passengers behind. Luckily they were able to put us on next available flight but it wasn't for another 5 hours (they even tried to charge for their error but eventually gave in after the line of angry customers that had also missed their flight). Then that flight was delayed 2 hours. Didn't get into Atlanta until 2:30 am!! Plus $50+ baggage fee each way. Low cost ticket ended up costing me more once I factored in time and money lost. I'll be sure to take my next flight on a more reliable airline."

Cons: "They delayed the flight by 5 hours and flew in early so 20 of us missed that later flight, even though we received an email it was coming in on time moments after it left. I had to cancel and fly with Delta. The next dayI had to go to retrieve my suitcase from Fort Lsuderdale. I ended up flying into West Palm Beach. I will never fly Spirit for any money ever again. The hidden costs are ridiculous. I had no choice but to buy a seat because there are no free seats. That flight costed more than double the original cost."

Cons: "Flight was late by an hour. This then caused us to have to wait over 2 hours on the plane to be able to get off. US customs was backed up with flights that should have arrived after us. This caused us to miss our connection. The connection time for us was 3 hours and we still missed that flight. They then suggested that it was not their fault and that they would get us on the next flight on the next day at night. We decided to get our money back and bought a ticket with Southwest Airlines instead. They lack in taking responsibility for their mistakes. Their employees don't care and continue on as if nothing is wrong. Our whole flight missed each and every connection. we are all here with Southwest ready to fly out in a couple of hours."

Cons: "I checked into my flight at 7pm the night before my 7am flight. I drove 2 hours to the airport, parked my car, took a shuttle to the terminal and arrived at the kiosk at 6:20. I attempted to print my boarding pass because it was no longer appearing on my phone; however, the kiosk printed me out a ticket saying it was unable to print my boarding pass. When I approached a spirit employee, they told me I could no longer go to the terminal because my reservation had been canceled at 6:15 due to tardiness. In turn, the next best thing they said they could do for me was for $99 get me on the flight the next day. So due to me being 40 minutes early for my flight instead of 45 minutes I lost my reservation, had to pay $99, lost a day of vacation, and the money for my hotel tonight. Worst airline experience I've ever had."

Cons: "I always had problems with Spirit but to be honest after this last experience I will never fly Spirit again. My flight going to FL to Chicago was okay until after 10 mins in the air I received an email stated my Connecting flight was cancelled. When I landed, I went straight to customer service to try and resolve my this issue, the best thing they said they could do is make sure I am accommodated within a 24 hour policy however, they wanted me to wait more then 24 hours before I got on another flight. The whole experience was horrible. Which then I had to purchase another flight on another airline. Oh by the way they canceled my flight coming back as well. Spirit is an absolute joke, yes they are cheaper then other airlines but the service and headache they give you isn't worth it. Oh by the way they did give me ONE $50 voucher for my next flight (Yet I bought 3 plane tickets). What a joke give me my money not a voucher for an Airline I can't even relie on to get to and from a destination comfortably without any problems."

Cons: "Cancelled flight with prior notice at all. Only one person to help everyone on the flight figure out their travel plans - waited in line 1.5 hours just to speak to someone. Had to take a connecting flight to Boston and ended up in my destination 6 hours later than planned. On my way back from Fort Lauderdale, almost every Spirit flight in the entire airport was delayed. My flight boarded on time, but when we were ready to take off, the captain came on the loud speaker and said that we need to go back to the gate because 3 flight attendants need to get off of the plane. First and last time ever flying with Spirit."

Cons: "I was a bit late getting to Newark, but I only had a carry-on, so needed to grab my boarding pass and just get through security. When I finally found the Spirit Airlines counter in the basement, their electronic kiosk wouldn't work. There was a huge line, so the Spirit employees ignored me. I could not get my boarding pass, even though I would have had time to get through security and run to my gate!!! I had to buy a separate flight on United so I could make it to this wedding. Any refund would be appreciated! Spirit Airlines is horrible!!!"

Cons: "My fiancé and I tried to change our Spirit flight from Fort-Lauderdale to Plattsburgh to the next day due to a cancelled connecting flight taking us to Fort-Lauderdale. The Spirit agent we spoke to said there were absolutely no other flight option for us, and did not offer to help. Thus, not only did we not make it back to Plattsburgh and lost our seats and money, but we had to rebook a brand new expensive flight. Needless to say, we are very upset with the lack of customer service we received from Spirit."

Cons: "Due to several unavoidable obstacles I was running late to the airport. When I arrived it was 8:25am for my flight at 9:10am. The kiosk wouldn't let me check in or check luggage. The line was so immense it would take hours. I asked a woman to help me and she said that the doors had already closed? That's 45 mins before departure and I definitely could have made it to my flight. Instead I had to wait in a line for 90 minutes! By 10:00am I finally booked another flight for 8:40pm. I've now been at the airport for 12 hours. I've had 3 meals here, I'm bored out of my mind and I could have been home by noon. I should have been on my 9:10am flight to chicago. This is ridiculous, I am never flying with spirit again for as long as I live. I hope that someone will rectify this situation since I bought 2 plane tickets and I shouldnt have. absolute imbeciles. I'm extremely disappointed."

Pros: "I could tell the plane was relatively new because of the details. The crew members were always available and helpful."
Cons: "No room for the legs, no recliners, small restroom. When boarding, 3 people had the same seat, one of the crew members solved the problem because luckily the flight was not a 100% full. 0 entertainment for the 6 hours flight (it was the same plane from FLL to Houston and San Diego) so I had to try and sleep (which was impossible). When I felt thirsty and wanted a cup of water, they told me it was a $3 dollar charge per bottle, I've never been denied water in my whole life, I found it nonsence. Overall, I would never fly Spirit again."

Cons: "The airline emailed customers that the flight was delayed by almost two hours. We arrived 1 hour 45 min before the new departure. The website still said the delayed time. When we were trying to check in the service desk told us the plane was being boarded and the delay was no longer needed. We had to take later flight and the girl joked that "at least we weren't as bad as united airlines because they dragged someone off." Terrible experience. There is definitely a reason it's a budget airline. Will never fly with them as long as I live."

Cons: "I bought this ticket directly from spirit. They scheduled my connection such that it would have been impossible to make. Apparently this was an "unforeseeable circumstance", so I was offered no accommodations even though there were no alternate flights available until two days later. The agent I spoke with changed his story about what could be done every time we spoke, and when I requested a refund, he was unable to print a receipt or any kind of confirmation paperwork or email whatsoever to prove to me that my ticket had been refunded. He was also unable to tell me the amount of the refund. I simply had to take his word for it that Spirit would process my refund for an unknown amount within 5 business days. Needless to say, i have doubts. This was absolutely unacceptable. I was forced to pay for an alternate flight on a different airline, and pay for an airport hotel for the night. I am beyond furious with spirit airlines and I have received unimaginably terrible customer service."

Cons: "The price of the flight was relatively inexpensive, however, after paying for a second carry on, checked bag and overweight checked bag (40 lbs not 50 lbs), this flight was WAY more expensive than other carriers with the same luggage. The bag fees were never explained during the booking process. The flight was delayed almost 2 hours due to other Spirit delays to Ft. Lauderdale, thus, instead of paying hotels and rebooking Spirit customers, Spirit decided to wait until every passenger boarded -- not caring that customers were missing connections in Denver. The ticket agent in Ft. Lauderdale was a right miserable so and so. I'll never use Spirit again."

Cons: "Spirit is such a rip off. You think your saving money by at the end of the day you lose out. The bags can only weigh 40 pounds as compared to delta and jet blue that cost 25 dollars. Carry on cost 55 dollars each!!! No movies on board and even the cans of soda cost 7 dollars? The crew members are ghetto and they look sloppy and with beards and they all have different uniforms. They were fooling around the whole time and joking with each other as well as making faces behind customers back when passengers were asking questions or making them look dumb. Never again! And I will tell this to all my friends who travel frequently to not book with spirit airlines. The seats don't recline and there is no port for audio. If you want to sit together with your friends it's an extra 18 dollars a seat!? I'm very disappointed with spirit. The aircraft itself was very noisy. At the end of the day I spent more money with spirit then I would have with delta or JetBlue. Im a police officer in NYC and I will go back to everyone who goes on vacation (which is about 500 people or more) I know and tell them how disappointed I am."

Cons: "The check in process was horrific. Their website was not working so I was forced to spend more to print my boarding pass at the airport. I had no idea Spirit was going to be so uncomfortable. I really think a disclaimer in large print should be available prior to booking with them. Something like Attention: the flight you are about to book comes with very small, unpadded seats crammed closer together than most airplanes. You will be physically touching every person you sit next to. Even if you are a skinny person. The seats do not recline there is no Wi-Fi or on board entertainment. You will be nickel and dime to death so that in the end you won't actually be saving as much money as you tjought."

Cons: "It was a terrible experience!!! Stinky way to end a vacation!! From the moment we entered the terminal, SPIRIT handled everything poorly. They had 5 agents working to handle 5-6hundred passengers. There was only one agent walking the floor answering questions. He was nice enough to me but in his frustration, he was very rude to other passengers. People were getting nervous that their planes were boarding and they still hadn't checked their bags. This caused people to try and cut in front of other people in line and of course those passengers became angry. After finally getting through that mess, we got to our gate in a different terminal (which was also confusing because our boarding pass said terminal 3 which we went to first only to find out that we needed to go to Terminal 4 to check in and then walk over to terminal 3 to board). Once we boarded the plane they told us that the computer system was down so they could not put in their flight planes so they let us off the plane. We re-boarded the plane and finally landed home around 2:00 in the morning. By the time we got our luggage and drove home (20 minutes) it was 3:15. Overall Stinky!!!!!"

I was flying out to be the best man at my friends wedding on a Thursday evening when due to a mechanical issue we had to get off of the plane. My flight was from PHX to Dallas then continuing on to Fort Lauderdale. Since we had a two hour delay at PHX, they scheduled another plane to leave Dallas on time to Fort Lauderdale. They informed us that since they do not have any partner airlines they could not get us reassigned. We would either have to take a refund or we could go to Dallas and then wait until 5pm on Saturday to make it to Fort Lauderdale. I also had a seat upgrade, and they told me If I wanted to go to Dallas and wait, they would not have an upgraded seat available for me and they would not be able to refund me the upgraded price even though they would not be able to provide me the service. So I got a refund and went home. Needless to say I will pay extra next time to fly a reliable carrier. Thank you Spirit Airlines for making me miss my best friends wedding."

Cons: "I know for a fact that I will never take a spirit flight again in my life and neither should you. I was supposed to leave Fort Lauderdale on Saturday at 11:30am. The flight kept being delayed until 6:30pm when passengers were finally told that it was cancelled. The runaround that Spirit gave us was absolutely ridiculous - literally. Due to the plane still being in Fort Myers and not being at the original gate they made us change to 3 different gates -E2, E7, G10- various locations within the airport. I am talking about one side of the airport to another. Finally, at the last gate 10, the plane arrives at 1pm but there was mechanical difficulties that had to be repaired. We boarded the plane at 3pm once the plane was fixed. We sat on the plane for 45 minutes before a Rep came on the plane to ask for 4 volunteers to give up their seats. Four people leave and another group of four people board. Captain tells us that they are searching for luggage and once that's finished we will leave. An hour later, still seated in the plane the Captain apologizes and says that he will let us leave the plane to stretch our legs because Laguardia has not cleared the plane for take off. At this point it is close to 5pm. We wait another hour and half of Reps saying they don't have info because apparently now there is a weather concern in NY that is causing the delay. I immediately call my husband to ask about the weather and he tells me it was sunny, 60 degrees, and it rained for 20 minutes. I get a feeling that Spirit is about to cancel this flight and even ask the Reps- they all say no the flights not being cancelled. After another hour and half wait they make the grand announcement that the flight is cancelled. If you thought that was the worst part of my day, think again. After chaos breaks out from the passengers we are told to find customer service at gate H5. Another trek trough the airport we reach customer service who is a lone Rep with a line wrapped around the corner. After waiting another hour to speak to her, she tells me the earliest flight Spirit could put me on is Tuesday night (remember it's Saturday night). I ask if there is a way to get on to other airlines and she tells me that it isn't spirits policy to find me any flight home. They could only reimburse me and I would have to book my own flight home. I leave the line and start searching for flights and it becomes clear that flights are booked going to NY. I eventually book a flight for the next day on United that leaves out of Miami airport, connects in Chicago and lands in Newark. I took this flight that was 3 times the cost of the Spirit flight, with connections, an hour and half drive from my house just so I could end the Spirit nightmare. Moral of the Story: For your sanity, to be treated professionally with consideration to your time, take any airline other than Spirit."

Pros: "The flight to Fort Lauderdale was outstanding in all respects, including carrying on our bags."
Cons: "The Spirit check-in for the flight back (2/27/17#616) was degrading, confused, and expensive: the worst ever in a long experience flying worldwide and our last with Spirit. After making them aware of a hip transplant, we were directed to the wrong location eliciting an rude expletive; redirected, we were told our carry-on was too big and charged $50. to check it. I had carried it on at Logan and with Delta 2/8 and 2/10) and many other airlines before. On board people all around us carried on bags similar in size to our checked bag."

Pros: "i like the assigned seating, i makes not rush to get on the plane first because ur seat is ur seat."
Cons: "seemingly all the rows of seating are too short. i'm only 5-11 tall and my knees were constantly against the seat in front of me. i sat in the middle seat on row 22. the lade next to me sat on the isle and even her knees were hitting and was uncomfortable. at one point the person in front of her leaned his seat back and it was all completely in her space, make her extremely uncomfortable. we had to ask flight attendant to ask the man to put his seat up some to give her some more room and comfort."

Pros: "On the opposite side of the helpful/friendly spectrum -there was one employee who heard my story and offered to let me use one of his free flights if I was charged for some reason. He waited while I went through the ticketing process again. That was VERY generous. I wish I had taken his name down."
Cons: "Did not receive a notification that my gate had changed to an entirely different terminal and I missed my flight. There was no way to even know/find where my new gate was located. They only had one Spirit employee at the gate that was on my ticket and she was busy checking the people in for another flight. Ladies at the correct gate were not friendly or helpful. Paid $200 to stay overnight in a hotel and I missed a day of work. The check-in/ticketing area for Spirit was a madhouse."

Pros: "Safe transportation at a great price."
Cons: "The Spirit web site was not functioning properly when I tried to check-in for my flight and get boarding passes. I tried repeatedly to do this in the 24 hours prior to departure without success (and wasting a lot of time). Then later, while waiting in the long line at the airport to check my bags, the employees at the counter announced that their computers just went down. For 30 minutes increasingly agitated customers waited for the computers to function again so they could check their bags. This computer failure resulted in a late departure. For my return trip, again, IT competency at Spirit. Again their *&(^!&@! web site wouldn't work get me to the page to print my boarding pass."

Pros: "Spirit claims to be the cheapest airline, but charges over $50 for carry on items. The day of my flight, the lines to check in were out the door at the Ft. Lauderdale Airport. The kiosks were all down & the employees were shouting at everyone to direct them. If a simple question was asked, the Spirit employees would snap & move on to the next person, without really helping. I was late to my flight because of wrong information that was given to me and I almost did not make it in time. Just like any other airline these days, no food is given for free. The seats are the bare minimum."

Cons: "Planes were dirty and were charged for carry on which I found to be a bit ridiculous. The money you save on the ticket ended up going to pay towards luggage so it would have been better going through a nicer airline. Planes really had nothing to offer as far as comfort. On the way home the plane had a 2 hour delay and no real customer service was given to a accommodate for the inconvincoence. Also had an issue with the luggage keeping us in the airport way longer than needed. Would not fly with spirit again"

Pros: "Flight was on time"
Cons: "Staff was okay. Airline charges $65-100 for a CARRY ON. Most ridiculous price I have ever heard off. I had a backpack as I was pre-warn by an employee before I left for the airport. One poor lady had a purse and her laptop bag and they told her they would have to charge her 65 dollars. You will be chargered to print out your boarding pass and will only allow you to check in online and print boarding pass if you sign up for their site and promotions. This airline makes it blantanly obvious they are all about the profit."

Pros: "Nothing."
Cons: "Flight was over 3 hours late. Spirit didn't even alert me. Once finally on the plane, crew was extremely rude. The lady next to me asked one of the flight attendants mid-flight, "Will we be there by 8?". The attendant rolled her eyes, scoffed, and replied, "You wish!" What an unnecessarily snarky comment. Seats were extremely small and uncomfortable (I'm very small - only 5'4, I can't imagine if you were a tall person). No free food or beverages are offered (not even water). They nickel and dime you for EVERYTHING. No in flight entertainment. I've flown Spirit before, but this experience trumped them all. I will NEVER fly Spirit again."

Cons: "Where do I start? This may be the most "affordable" flight you can find on the market but they make up for that. Be sure to print your own boarding pass because that's a $10 charge if you don't. If your luggage is even one lb over the weight, expect to pay $95. Need water on the flight? Pay up. AirMall magazine? Nope. Reclining chairs? Laughable. The staff's affect is flat and cold. Don't bother trying to reason with them, they could care less (especially"Karen"). If I could give zero stars on this review, I wouldn't hesitate. I wouldn't wish my experience with Spirit on anyone. I'd rather forget about it all and move on with my life but people have the right to know."

Cons: "I got the airport 44 minutes prior the flight and was told I couldn't check in because I was 1 minute past the boarding time. I was also told there were no other flights available that day and that I could go out again the following day for a $100 penalty. This was not possible as I was attending a wedding that evening. Moreover, they said that because I "missed" the flight I could not get a refund. I ran over to the JetBlue ticketing desk, who had a flight departing at the exact same time. They issued a ticket and I was able to fly to my destination. I think it ridiculous that Spirit will not issue a boarding pass 44 minutes prior to a flight. Especially since I was carrying on luggage. I was also not aware of their policy. I also don't understand why Jet Blue could issue me a ticket for a flight at the same time and Spirit could not. I've never head of a 45 minute prior check-in for a flight with carryon. The desk person was also unhelpful, despite me being very polite and begging for him to allow me to check-in."

Pros: "Unfortunately there is nothing positive to say here."
Cons: "Sadly we had a horrible experience at the airport with the spirit staff. The customer service representative had over 60 people lined up against the wall, not allowing them to "check in" because of minor delay. They were then hand picking who they would let in line, based on their flight and boarding pass. In addition to this I didn't want to spend my day at the airport so I booked another flight home. THEN to realize HE made a mistake..... That was the flight delayed! I then had to ask for a refund and explain that he mixed up my flight. Had 40 min to make it through security at that point. It's been 3 weeks and still no refund. Never again!"

Pros: "Polite staff on board"
Cons: "Unannounced gate change at the last minute. Almost missed plane because the change affected the terminal. It never displayed on the board. We had gone through security and had to exit the airport to get to the switched terminal which was far (10 walk) and had to get through new security check. After going through the full body scanner, a TSA agent patted my hair with her dirty gloves. Nobody should have their hair patted down after going through a full body scanner. This is a violation of my person, of my privacy. Also noted that only coloured women had their hair patted down. We should never be treated like animals or differently than other travelers."

Pros: "The crew was relatively nice and patient about peoples issues/problems. The tickets were cheap and literally you get what you pay for."
Cons: "The thing about a cheap airline is that, sure it might not be the most comfortable flight, but at least it'll get you from point A to point B, right? Well with all the delay problems, I began to doubt that was possible. 1. They overbooked the flight, which they do on all flights apparently. It doesn't make any sense that if I or anyone else bought their tickets weeks in advance, that we need to wait on those who bought tickets last minute for an ALREADY FULL FLIGHT, and see if someone would give up seats for them. Its not the last minute customers fault and its not the early buyers fault, its Spirit's fault for overbooking their flights. If I was a waiter at an Italian restaurant, and I sold out of all the lasagna dishes, you wouldn't expect me to take in more orders for lasagna and ask other tables if they would give up their lasagna for the next table over! If you sold all of you seats, say the flight isn't available. 2. Last minute "flight delays" We were all buckled in and we were about to leave our gate. All of a sudden we stopped and the pilot came over the intercom. He told us that we were delayed because "we had to pick up company cargo to bring to Atlanta", which wouldn't have been bad if it wasn't at the last minute! We waited 5 minutes, 10 minutes, etc. About 50 minutes later we finally heard back from the pilot saying that we were waiting on another plane to bring in that cargo! Everyone around me was in agreement that we should've either left without getting the cargo or waited off of the plane before we boarded. Analogy time! If we were at that same Italian restaurant and you were about to leave from you table since you paid for your check, and I stopped you and said that you had to vacuum under/around your table before you left. You agreed to it, but I told you the vacuum was in another restaurant and you had to wait for it to be delivered to our restaurant. If it wasn't originally meant to be on our flight, don't delay the flight to get it on there. I'll save you the time and tell you that there were extra delays getting off of the plane, so if you were needing to rush to connect to a flight, then you weren't going to make it. (telling everyone to sit down when you already told them to stand, flight attendants leaving the plane first, etc). If you chose to still fly Spirit, only have a carry on and BUY THE $10 FLIGHT INSURANCE. If your flight leaves on time and you don't have any connecting flights, maybe you can risk it for the price, otherwise spend the $20 more to fly on another airline!"

Cons: "I have flown spirit a few times and each time all the staff from ground to stewards... are unfriendly, unhelpful, sour people. i believe it's because of your management style. I fly southwest and delta often and their staff is happy, helpful, delighted to be of service. while your fares are low, it's only 100$ more to fly better. and you coverup charges like departure taxes that are included with other fares in other airlines, so, hence, the fees, add up so quickly, it's become easier and more cost effective --even-- for the budget travelor to fly other airlines. we need friendly people in airlines. folks who love their jobs and treat each other respect. you can do a whole lot better Spirit airlines. really. everyone is becoming disgusted with your service."

Pros: "The boarding process was fast, which was nice. However, that is due to one of the things we did not like..."
Cons: "It cost money to carry on a bag! If it had been a small amount... $10-$15 or so, we would have shrugged it off, since the ticket price was lower than other airlines. However, to carry on a bag, it cost $53. To check a bag, it cost $50!! So no matter what, you are spending AT LEAST $50 more EACH WAY! If you were planning on carrying on a bag and checking, then you're really screwed. We were not informed of this when purchasing tickets. The airline hits you with it at check-in, so you really have no choice. Also, on the flight, there was no complimentary drinks. This doesn't bother me at all when it's a short flight, but for a flight that is over three hours, I feel it's the least they can do to offer a beverage. What also made the flight uncomfortable was that the seats did not recline, and the "tray table" was simply decoration. So even if I had decided to purchase a beverage, I would have no where to set it down because the tray table had no place for a cup. It was not big enough to even place a book or laptop on. It was a four hour flight, so I was planning on reading and working on my computer, but that did not end up happening. I would never use Spirit again. It was only $40 or so less than other airlines, and that is DEFINITELY NOT worth it."

Cons: "Over priced, instead of charging one rate and include the standards, a seat, a carry on, everything was a fee! Then the flight is delayed and there was no way to find information on line, had to drive to the airport to find the counter closed, and there was no way of making my connection, decided not to fly at all on this airline and bought a ticket someplace else. Am hoping to get a refund for all the expenses, but I have been trying to cancel the flight, and now the website doesn't seem to be working. Keeps telling me to try again!!"

Pros: "Nothing"
Cons: "Spirit airlines is full of hidden costs and fine print. First 80 dollars (for carry-on and seat) was added to each ticket plus 59 dollars to "to join"! Then we only arrived 35 minutes early for our check in. Listened to our flight being called while they made us stand against the wall) Because I hadn't checked in online (stayed at a place with no printer access) they refused to let us check in and made us pay an additional 360 to rebook! Next flight was 5 days away! Ended up spending all day from 6:30am-11:30pm trying to fly standby. Flew standby in the morning by being at the airport at 515 am! NIGHTMARE Liz"

Pros: "Nothing."
Cons: "1. I checked-in at the Kiosk 2 hours before the flight. Had to pay for my seat. Not an exit seat, JUST A REGULAR SEAT. 2. I waited an HOUR AND A HALF to "drop off" my luggage, that I was charged $50 for. (by the by - you have a fee for a carry on as well) 3. When I got to finally drop off my bag, it was given a "Late Check-in" tag, per #2, I was NOT late by any means. 4. My luggage didn't make it to my destination AND they would not send it to me because I was "a late check-in" (refer to #2). So I had to wait 5 hours in the neighborhood (thankfully I was from there and had family to hang out with) to go back to the airport and pick up my bag. So, all in all, a $145 ticket would have actually cost me $260. Oh - and you don't even get WATER on board... you have to pay for that as well. If the Spirit airline folks were nice, that might have been okay, but cherry on top SURPRISE - they were rude, borderline hostile. I experienced anxiety on the fact that I had to fly back on this craptastic airlines, so I actually wound up booking a flight with another airline (don't know if I can say whom here - but think.... PlaneAzure) and they were AWESOME. All in all, my new flight only cost me an additional $15 (because I would have had to pay $50 for my one check-in and $13 for my seat - and I'm active military - nope, they don't care). I'm surprised I didn't have to swipe my credit card to pay to use the lavatory. Never, ever again."

Pros: "The actual in air experience was good. The staff was very nice and smiled as we entered and smiled as we exited. The aircraft was clean and the restrooms were clean and refreshing."
Cons: "The counter service was unexceptionable. I stood in line for 40 minutes. While the few people working did handle the line which literally was the length of the concourse and out the building the the passenger arrival area of the airport. I was one of the most unorganized events that I have ever experienced. The computer would print my boarding pass. I had to stand in line for that. I tried to print it at the hotel for over an hour and it still would not print for me so there is a glitch in the system somewhere. Upon our arrival in Cleveland there was no Agent standing there to give greetings or directions. All in all the service was sub-par and leaves much to be desireable."

Pros: "The flight attendants were extremely friendly and hilarious! They kept us entertained all flight long and were very helpful to everyone."
Cons: "The employees working at the ticket desks were VERY rude. They refused to print my boarding pass, and instead made me leave the line and go to a kiosk to print the boarding pass and bring it back to them. What exactly is there job other than checking in luggage?? In addition to that, I had a heavy bag (knew this beforehand), and was scolded regarding the weight. I was told that the next time I fly, I should "leave a lot at home." It's a shame that I enjoyed my actual flying experience with Spirit quite a lot, but I will never fly with them again because of the ticket counter employees."
