Check in was a mess. We were herded like animals. The line never moved until finally someone said our flight should move over here.
Then we were checked in. No conversation just present the documents.
We were unable to check in online. As we moved between lines we ere advised "if you talk to an agent it will cost you $10.00.
Everything about Spirit is an upcharge.
NEVER AGAIN! I really don't care about the money it is just nickle and dime a customer to death.
A POX on your house!
The only bright side of this flight was safely landing in Boston.
Difficulties checking in online within the 24 hour window
5 hour delay with multiple incorrect time updates via text alerts, email and on jet blue website
No entertainment on board - no TVs
Wifi would not stay connected
Wrong baggage claim info was given by crew members on board
Flight was so late in arriving no taxi service was avail at Logan
Boarding was easy. clean plane, crew was very friendly. I was very concerned though, when we banked left and did a complete circle in the air. An explanation from the captain would have been terrific. I made sure I was the last one to leave the plane and asked him about it when I saw him at the exit. He told me what happened but I would have liked to know while it was happening. Besides that, the coke and pretzels were divine. :)
Spirit has a 40 lb limit on checked bags, instead of the usual 50 lb limit. I had to carry loose dive gear on the plane in my arms, which did not save them any weight on the plane, just a huge inconvenience to me. Also baggage in expensive for both checked and carry on , $50/$55 each. Also the check in process was quite slow at Fort Lauderdale. I had my seat assignment and baggage receipt , and it still took the agents about five minutes per person , multipled by everyone on board.
Jetblue performs at its usual high level. Friendly staff, welcome from Pilot, and standard package of beverages.
The E190 on this route is showing its age (as are many of Blue's E190s). Lack of power, tiny video screen, marginal resolution point to the need for an overhaul of this jet. They are apparently in progress of updating the E190 fleet. Much prefer Blue's A320's which in my opinion is a great ride.
At check in, while checking my bag, the agent advised that since the flight wasn't full, and I wound have to claim my bag to transfer to an international flight, I could save some time by taking my bag on board. That worked out very well. I am very thankful for the good advice.
Row 19 on a 737ER is great for room, as long as you don't plan on reclining (I rarely do in a daytime flight)
A little overcautious regarding seating the cabin crew because of possible turbulence, but better safe than sorry, I suppose. However, it is a common occurrence on this particular leg, so don't board knowing you might need to take a "break" before you get to Atlanta.
