Boarding was a mess - the agent basically called every group in rapid succession, so there was no organization at all. The economy seats are a joke, and main cabin extra seats were sold out when I purchased my flight. As such, I was locked in the same position for four hours. Being 6’6”, it was impossible to get my bag out from under the seat in front of me, and I couldn’t have used my laptop even if my bag were accessible due to the minuscule seat pitch. Also the wifi was broken. American is a joke - can’t wait until they merge with Spirit.
Pros: "Nothing everyone was rude and I seemed to bother them"
Cons: "Everything from communication to compensation"
Pros: "The seat next to me was empty"
Cons: "I downloaded the app and followed the directions to watch a movie but when I got on board I host the connection and not get back in . It would not allow me to download anything"
Pros: "Everything was easy"
Cons: "No entertainment no WiFi. Lots of angry people about that."
Pros: "I was on time"
Cons: "Compensation for your mistakes"
Cons: "Had to buy another ticket"
Pros: "We got there."
Cons: "We found the chart listing gate where we should go. We went there. Told the last listed flight was late so stayed there. With no announcement the gate board listed a different flight. We asked and was told gate was changed. What a surprise, Went to the info board and had to RUN to our new gate. Barely made it on time. This is awful communication."
Pros: "Leaving that airplane 8 hours after expected."
Cons: "The fact that I was delayed twice, given false information, had to wait to board because a flight attendant was late for her shift and then had to run from terminal to terminal to find my flight on my own because no representative could help me or show up."
Pros: "Price was reasonable"
Pros: "Flight kept being pushed back multiple times. left about 3 hrs late. Then after boarding and waiting to take off, the pilot tells us a light came on the "dash" and he has to have maintenance come to check it. That takes another 30 plus minutes. Not a good start to the morning."
Cons: "Never finding out what happened to the our original plane that was supposed to have left in the morning."
Pros: "TV screen in back rest was nice"
Cons: "See comments above"
Pros: "Quick and painless flight"
Cons: "The crew was rude."
Pros: "Flight crew was great and made the flight that more memoriable ."
Pros: "Great flight"
Cons: "No food"
Cons: "Flight was delayed 35 minutes. No reason given."
Pros: "Short flight"
Cons: "Numerous delays."
Pros: "Staff was awesome!"
Cons: "As was getting in line for security, overheard it was at least a one-half hour wait. The wait was actually pretty close to 1/2 hr."
Cons: "The check in process at JFK was a disaster. The kiosk check in machines were constantly malfunctioning, where to line up was unclear, and staff acted frustrated. After several failed attempts with the kiosks you have to wait in line to check in at the counter anyways. It would have saved almost an hour of my time to just go straight to the counter-- had I been allowed to. I wanted to check a bag which contained some fragile items. Several bottles of wine which I wrapped in bubble wrap and cushioned with my packed clothes. I requested a "Fragile" sticker to be put on my bag. I was told "We don't do that here". So I asked if they handle ALL bags with extreme care and I was laughed at and told to go on my way. When I got my bag at my destination-- the outside of my leather suitcase was sliced to the lining. There were scuff marks and torn leather. My wine had been completely shattered. Not just a crack in the bottle, but flattened completely. My clothes were stained, my bag ruined. I don't know if putting a fragile sticker on would have prevented this, but I don't understand why they just "don't do that". We are trusting our property to the airline when we check bags. I will never trust American Airlines ever again. They don't want to know if I have anything fragile, and they don't care when I tell them."
Pros: "Quick and easy thanks"
Pros: "My daughter liked the movie Gifted on the flight. Only decent experience in 2 days of travel"
Cons: "Worst experience with an airline ever. Never going to fly AA again. They lost 3 valued customers."
Pros: "Tons of entertainment options, friendly crew, flight was on time"
Cons: "My seat was not clean"
Pros: "Sittings on the tarmac for 90 minutes no airs no waters. 114 degrees"
Cons: "The very least employees should offer customer some waters to cool of"
Pros: "Customer service was excellent. Smooth flight. Early."
Cons: "In Charlotte the kiosks were not acting right. The agents were still exceptional but you could tell they were frustrated"
Pros: "Staff on the plane was pleasant."
Cons: "When I checked in I wasn't given a seat assignment. I had to wait until I got to the gate."
Pros: "No much"
Cons: "Aircraft is small, boarding is a mad dash to the plane"
Cons: "Flight was delayed arriving, connecting flight was in a completely different terminal = they didn't wait for us and auto booked us on a flight out the next morning. We requested our bags and drove home instead. Horrible."
Cons: "We missed our connection because of American Airlines incompetence. That being said the flight itself was ok."
Cons: "Could not read paper when passenger in front reclined seat. No space between rows."
Pros: "I lucked out and was able to get a emergency row seat which helped tremendously because of having long legs."
Cons: "What I don't like is what is true of all airlines now and that is that if you are born with long legs you are penalized and expected to pay more money than people with short legs - that is prejudice and not fair to people that cannot do anything about it. I understand charging obese people extra because they have a chance to change it. Also, seats are too narrow now!!!"
Cons: "Despite paying 5 months in advance, couldn't check in online or reserve seats without paying extra. AA customer service told me there were no more "complimentary " seats!! Very tight legroom in cabin."
Pros: "Boarding was swift. Gate staff was friendly."
Cons: "Phone charging stations at gate were down at every gate in the terminal. We waited nearly 45 minutes on the plane at the gate for a "flight attendant that is going to hitch a ride to make a flight from San Diego to Charlotte." This was obnoxious! We waited for almost as long as the flight was scheduled to take. Poor form."
Cons: "Took my bag for no reason, I flew there with it."
Cons: "Missed Connection."
Pros: "The attention from the staff during the flight, was excellent."
Cons: "I'd didn't like that we'd had to pay 50 dollars for a medium size luggage, when other passengers have, slightly smaller suitcase,a carry on a lap top or big purse."
Cons: "Fight was cancelled as reported a light near the exit sign was out. Had to sit in the airport 8 hours a regular delay of the this route."
Pros: "Smooth boarding"
Cons: "No entertainment"
Pros: "SEATS IN FIRST CLASS WERE EXCELLENT WITH MANY PERKS."
Cons: "DELAYS IN BOARDING. Almost 2hrs"
Cons: "It did not happen! Had to taxi to Austin!"
Cons: "No power at JFK. Customs and baggage claim a nightmare. After a tiring international flight, 4 hours in airport find out my flight is canceled. Miss a day of work because can't get flight until following day. No airline offer of food or hotel accommodation."
Cons: "1 hour late. And when the pilot made announcements during the movie it would not pause. We missed parts of the movie. It was annoying."
Pros: "Quick flight, stewardesses still offered complimentary drinks, a/c worked well."
Pros: "Fast shuttle to our hotel"
Pros: "Nothing at all."
Cons: "Flight was canceled... apparently they won't be able to get me home until 24 hours later than I was scheduled to get there. Standing in line 5 hours later still waiting for vouchers. My bags already went to san diego. Customer service has been confrontational. Terrible all the way around."
Pros: "Wanted more polite crew"
Cons: "The lady was rude need more skills"
Pros: "This was my first time flying out of South Bend and I loved the smallness of the airport and the option to take a direct flight to Vegas to cost family. No long lines and crowds made it easy to social distance."
Cons: "I would have liked it the seat reclined slightly or had the adjustable headrest so my head wouldn't flop back and forth while I took a nap."
Pros: "Crew and plane ride."
Cons: "The seats hurt us."
Pros: "Crew was nice"
Cons: "Leg room"
Pros: "I like I can pick seats."
Cons: "Ppl putting their carry on in overhead bins nor in their row so when zone 6 (at the front of the plane) gets on, there’s no room in your overhead bin space. Crew should say to passengers to put their luggage in their area, not front of the plane."
Pros: "Boarding was fast. We arrived early."
Cons: "It was too cold & they kept turning on the lights (it was a late night flight)."
Pros: "The crew was very nice."
Cons: "The AC was broken - only the front half of the plane was getting it. The back half was very hot."
Pros: "Comfort nice cool cabin on boarding"
Cons: "No complaints with airline but flight was a little ruff on approach made me a little nauseous."
Pros: "The crew was amazing"
Pros: "The gate agent was amazing and super helpful."
Cons: "Seats are tight and not very comfortable."
Cons: "Still in Reno. Aircraft broke down"
Pros: "The staff was friendly"
Cons: "The flight was delayed multiple times, the directions on having boarding passes on the app or printed prior were not given so found that our last minute to avoid paying the front desk clerk $5.00. The flight landed 5 hours later than scheduled which is completely unacceptable."
Pros: "Great crew and online customer service..."
Cons: "1- Flight Behind Schedule 2- Live customer service agents are truly non-existent until 1.5hrs before ‘departure’"
Pros: "Nothing, honestly. Constantly delayed, cheap airline with forced fees, only one I could take and I can’t believe you exist. You have horrible customer service"
Cons: "I will never fly you again. Sure you don’t care."
Cons: "So many charges at every step. $5 for boarding passes?"
Cons: "I am so angry booking with them. I booked the flight and then thought, ok I will add a rental car. It said clearly that the rental Car could be canceled up until 24 hours before the flight. Well, 2 weeks before the flight, my friend said, don’t get a rental car, I will have my car. So I cancelled and only then did I find out that once I booked it through their site I could not get a refund for the car and I could only get a voucher for use on one of their flights! And only after they take out any fees and costs that was accrued! So angry!"
Cons: "Flight was very late. Have to pay $45 for a carry-on bag. Seats were uncomfortable and have to pay for all snacks and drinks including water."
Pros: "It was easy to book. And they helped me make changes to my flight schedule without charging me"
Cons: "Everything else is charged... from the in service beverage cart, to your boarding pass. Your baggage. Everything you have to pay for. So just be prepared for that."
Cons: "baggage staff was super rude. She told me I am the last passenger on the plane which wasn't true. She made me pay $50 because of little overweight. I could easily redistribute the weight among my bags if she gave me little chance. I was a single mom with two kids (3 months and 3 years old) had to pay a fine which I can't afford. Thanks for giving me the chance to express my feelings."
Pros: "Friendly staff"
Cons: "Last minute delay due to a plane malfunction. Was told very last minute. Seemed like there were no quick resolutions in play. Had to wait over three hours to fly out, doesnt that entail compensation by law?"
Cons: "Cut my already short trip even shorter. I used this airline twice now, and both times I was delayed."
Cons: "Our flight was delayed 4-5 times before it was cancelled all together and rescheduled for the following day. I lost over $200 in hotel charges and valuable time with family. A 3 day trip was decreased to a 2 day trip. Extremely disappointed. After sharing our experience with others we heard the same thing happened them."
Pros: "Love the ticket price, but charging $44 for a carry-on? C'mon man! Added charges that were worth it? Priority boarding: $15, Exit row seating: $25 Also be advised that all food & drink is for purchase and must be purchased with debit or credit card - absolutely no cash."
Pros: "Plane was late. 2 years ago it was late and while there at the airport I heard Allgeant routine runs hours late or cancels. 3-4 hours, not an hour. Good thing I dont fly too often"
Cons: "Allegiant 468 7/27 4 1/2 hour delay on flight 569 on 7/27 and not a single person on the ground or plane even said sorry. Allegiant also failed to update the revised departure time. Allegiant posted an initial delay of 30 minunutes but then, when there was a further 2 hour delay due to a problem with the plane in Vegas Allegiant didn't update the time. (G4 568 was showing a two hour delay, with a 1010 arrival into STS but Allegiant never updated the departure time for 569 to reflect the additional two hour delay.) It wasn't until I called that it got updated and when I called I had to point out that the airplane hadn't even left Vegas and Allegiant was still showing an 8:50 departure time. It also took the reservation agent over 20 minutes to get any information about what was going on. Lastly each and every time I call I was on hold for a minimum of 20 minutes before being able to speak to a person"
Pros: "I did not like anything about it. The Departure flight was two hours late. They made us board then unboard the plane, change gates. Then the return flight was posponed from 9pm to 3am departure. They didn't have any refreshments in the gare area other than stale unhealthy pizza, no water. The seats on the plane were the most uncomfortable. I even purchased the extI did not like anything about it. The Departure flight was two hours late. Pros: "Cheap fare"
Cons: "High baggage fees. Airplane sat for 30 min after boarding for fueling and some type of technical specifications. Seats don't recline."
Pros: "Comfort and speed of the flight. Attentive staff!"
Cons: "Need one craft beer"
Pros: "No complications and efficient boarding"
Cons: "The people that stand up when the plane stops even though they are going to have to wait till the door opens and everyone in front of them has to get off before they do."
Cons: "First they delayed the flight and then they cancelled the day of and I had to book a whole new flight for the day which was costly. I will never recommend that airline to anyone and I wanted to like it since I looked at their website and it looked very military friendly, but it was just disappointing"
Cons: "The flight got cancelled - trip had to be completely rearranged."
Pros: "The price and the nonstop flight."
Cons: "6+ hour delays Plane looked to be in sad shape, paint peeling, looked bolted together from spare parts. Strange Air Conditioning issues mid-flight that turned the plane into a walk-in freezer. upon landing our entire flights bags were abandoned and there wasn't a single Allegiant representative in the airport to communicate with the airport baggage people. After 1.5 hour wait our bags were finally offloaded onto the baggage claim by an airport employee not normally tasked with the job. Allegiant was paged over and over with no response. I will NEVER fly Allegiant again."
Pros: "We eventually got to Las Vegas."
Cons: "Everything. Spend an it make and book with someone else."
Cons: "They overcharge for bags and their weight limit is only 40 pounds. They leave the desk and hour before take off which doesn't help people who are running late. They charge you to print out your boarding pass. They don't even send the boarding pass through email, you have to download the app. Overall horrible customer service. When call for customer service you can't even get a human representative. I missed my flight and they didn't even have another flight to to accommodate me to get to my destination and no one at the front desk to talk to."
Cons: "Muy mal aerolínea"
Pros: "Airline was great. Told us right away they were only going to do one drink service so we could order two. Left on time and had no issues. Would definitely fly with them again. Even though you have to pay to check a bag, it's still a better deal than any other airline out there. People need to stop complaining about the extra fees, do you want cheap or not."
Cons: "Nothing. Was exactly what I expected for a $35.00 flight."
Cons: "everything was poor"
Pros: "Really smooth flight, quick and easy to Las Vegas..."
Cons: "Paying for checked luggage..."
Pros: "STS ground crew waived goodbye. Love a small town airport"
Pros: "The flight left on time. Friendly crew"
Cons: "I don't like that they charge for carry on bags and they don't have a toll free number"
Pros: "Some of the crew was VERY rude. I was uncomfortable and will never fly through them again."
Cons: "I didn't like the schedule time change. Very inconvenient missed some of my planned festivities that were prepaid."
Pros: "Time of travel"
Cons: "No leg room"
Pros: "Having all the rodeo people going to the rodeo to Las Vegas"
Cons: "The weather blizzard and freeways being closed. I missed my flight"
Pros: "Check in was easy, seating comfortable, staff very polite"
Cons: "No complimentary beverage is kind of a bummer, since you do get quite thirsty during a flight"
Pros: "Checking was fast"
Cons: "I have to pay for my carry on ."
Cons: "Plan was 4hrs late"
Pros: "Flight was on time"
Cons: "Window shade was broken. Seat doesn't recline. Leg room was less than usual. The plane smelled old mildew-y. Overall horrible flight"
Cons: "Aircon was too cool"
Pros: "Crew was good"
Cons: "No tv in seats"
Pros: "Comfortable seats"
Cons: "No support for Amazon fire he tablets"
Pros: "Very friendly flight crew. Lots of smiles and personal touches."
Pros: "Clean modern plane"
Cons: "Switched to American airways so the booking reference did not work. Had to call them to get a new reference so I could check in. But could not get boarding pass. Food not too good on the flight."
Cons: "Unending crying children, non reclining seats,"
Pros: "My daughter traveled as an unaccompanied minor overseas and was taken care of reasonably well. The staff in LAX were not as friendly but then I am just glad that everything was handled for her at such a young age being taken through such a big place. My daughter said she slept very little overnight due to a rude passenger who was talking very loudly and using a phone. But over all she was happy with the in-flight entertainment and I was pleased with the amount of baggage allowed at no extra fee."
Cons: "The staff were a bit impatient and rushed. Didn't seem to notice the actions of rude passengers."
Pros: "Nothing, and I’m a very agreeable person.... Always"
Cons: "Every person employed by United is either overworked until the point of jadedness is issued with their first paycheck, or they get paid in Monopoly money. There were flight delays, and really I was good with that, but when I approached a staff member, he literally said “what do you want?!” Before I even opened my mouth. The phone lines are operated by someone in a foreign country. And after the flight caused me an overnight layover, they offer you a measly discount voucher for a place to stay. I can only hope that someone out there is getting better treatment than the poor people I saw on this flight, or at any united desk I attempted to get help from."
Pros: "On time"
Cons: "No snavks"
Pros: "My husband and i we want to seat next to each other"
Cons: "1) Chicago O'Hare Airport Airline staff very rude. 2) from Los Angeles to Chicago my husband and i are not sitting to each other. My husband is upset. 3) from Chicago to Los Angeles my husband and i are not sitting to each other. It happened again. Very disappointing. We think the airline doing this intentionally."
Cons: "This airline was by far the worst I have used in years. Their staff, service and facilities need improvement"
Pros: "Entertainment and the crew"
Pros: "The international flight was very good. Staff were excellent and very friendly."
Cons: "The international terminal at LAX is terrible as far as people being on hand or being able to offer assistance on getting to your next connecting flight. Getting 30 minutes to make a connecting flight that is on the other side of the airport with noone being able to tell you where your connecting flight is is almost impossible. The in-flight entertainment console was broken and was unusable during the flight. It would work for 5 minutes then glitch and the screen would flash until you stowed it away and waited 10 minutes to try again."
Pros: "Crew were very helpful and flight was direct and on time ( unlike my other UA experience hence I started taking Air New Zealand )."
Cons: "Thought it was Lufthansa. Missed the partwhere it says “operated by”. So it wasnt the flagship Lufthansa aircraft but United Airlines. It was an ok flight with UA. Cant complain. It was a direct flight."
Pros: "Although I arrived a few minutes late, the check-in agent managed to get my bag on the flight. When I missed my flight, the agent quickly got me on another flight (with a competitor airline), with no additional charge."
Cons: "The short (10 minute) boarding window contributed to me missing my flight (by a few minutes). Very annoying."
Pros: "Crew was friendly"
Pros: "Chill easy flight no issues"
Cons: "Nothing. Everything was cool"
Pros: "Free drinks in first class"
Cons: "Really small restroom. Plane on second leg was too small to even have a first class"
Cons: "UA check-in staff in NRT was very rude. We had reserved seats when we booked the tickets over Kayak by paying about $15. UA staff said they didn't know that, its not in their system. They implied we were cheating because UA always charges about $200+ for reserving seat. They even didn't want to listen and look at the receipt we had. What he said in terrible English was "That is not my business""I'm busy" So my daughter and I had to seat separately in order to seat next to aisle. UA will be my last choice to fly."
Pros: "Spacious seating with no one next to me"
Cons: "No entertainment"
Cons: "I got late to my next flight !! I loose my flight ."
Cons: "Very negative about this company they did two times cancelation, at first was problem with lights in plane and we stay over an hour, then they say that the airplain has mechanical problems and we waited about one more hour, then they returned us to airport and we waited one more hour, finally after 3 hours they start to board us but service was horrible so rod boarding people. So I hade meeting with singing contract in the morning, I was late contract cancelled and I lose my money..... The company did not any compensation. I'm so Negative, negative, about this company, not recommended will never have again"
Pros: "Personal, friendly service from the staff. Smooth flight and perfect arrival."
Cons: "Crowed and flight delays"
Cons: "For some reason, the crew was not letting anyone bring their carry-on bags onto the plane, but there was clearly enough space in the overhead bins. If there was an issue with putting stuff in the overhead bins, they should have explained why we couldn't bring our belongings with us instead of yelling at people for trying to bring stuff on the plane that had plenty of space. I saw 4 or 5 bins that were completely empty and that was in the back of the plane I don't know what it looked like closer to the cockpit. Either way, the gate crew was very rude to everyone and it was very unpleasant to experience. Thank you for taking the time to review my feedback."
Pros: "From the Take off location in Low Angeles the United personnel was terrific...my parents both have health issues and the wheelchair..go cart service was great..."
Cons: "When returning from Houston to LA...i appreciated that the wheelchair service was ready when they arrived....what i didn't like was that as we entered the elevator one of the workers made a comment to his partner that there was to much weight cause the elevator made a certain noise...but not as if he was concerned more jokingly...my mother is heavy set ...she and our party thought that was rude and unnecessary...they both looked at her...i was going to bring it to there attention, but what good would of it done...so please address it....there were 2 gentlemen...one pushing my father which was a Hispanic male and the other was a black male pushing mother...the one who made the comment was the Hispanic male....and another problem was the airplane was very warm..."
Pros: "Barb M. was at the front desk at the United Lounge. She is an incredibly kind human being. I was very sick and this flight was delayed so it was going to cause me to miss my connecting flight overseas. She tried all that she could to rebook me on a different flight but the problem was the destination's air traffic control, not the airplane, so it wasn't going to fix the problem. I was able to rebook my connecting flight, at a cost, but at least I wasn't going to miss it. Barb went and made me hot tea with fresh ginger, mint leaves, and honey for my throat. Through a difficult situation, she was a ray of sunshine and kindness."
Cons: "Every time I travel United, it is delayed. I don't understand why. In this situation the problem was the airline so I understand that is beyond what United controls."
Cons: "I don't understand what the form is used for, based on the useless information it asks for. My flight was held from disembarking in order for the forms to be delivered upon landing, then distibuted to a plane full of.passengers pulling out carry-ons while asking to borrow ballpoint pens to fill out the forms before de-planing. I've been a Hawaii Island resident for 36 years and a State employee for 25 years. The effort required to input and process this data had better be rewarding for the state population and not another State 'make-work' chokehold on the travel industry. I realize the danger of invasive species in the state but does it really require a Completed form for Every passenger on Every flight to make a difference? Airline employees took their task Very seriously, BTW. Why?"
Cons: "several people assigned to the same seats, mine included. lots of last minute moving around."
Pros: "Small plane"
Cons: "Air con too cold. Freezing inside the plane"
Pros: "Flight was delayed but arrived only 1/2 hour later. Check in was smooth. Plane was rather old and not enough leg space."
Cons: "We waited on the tarmac by the gate for nearly 45 minutes. Finally some sort of maintenance clearance was approved and we were able to push off from the gate. In the last 6 months that I have traveled via United, this has happened every single flight. Some flights have been so delayed that they have given me a partial refund; but many flights, like this one, are delayed long enough to be disruptive but not long enough for them to issue customer care rebates. In an ideal world (i.e. a world that is not possible every single time), things would go smoothly and no delays happen at all - but waiting inside the plane at the gate for 45 minutes is not great either. I'd like a partial credit towards a future flight; I travel with United frequently but if this waiting-on-the-plane-while-still-at-the-gate problem persists, I'll change to another airline."
Cons: "Crew kept bumping into passengers when walking through the aisles with no apologies."
Cons: "II spent $502.20 on a flight that ended up a complete disaster, ultimately costing me even more money to fix. UA411 ORD -> LAX -> SBP ORD - LAX take of was delayed. After landing we sat on the tarmac without explanation for about an hour, which caused me to miss my connection to SBP. I ran the ridiculous gate change distance through the airport and arrived 1 minute prior to scheduled take-off and was not allowed to board. They left behind at least 8-9 passengers (that I saw) that were also delayed from the ORD-LAX flight – this is probably 1/3 of the flight. It's absurd. I then waited in the Customer Service line for 30 mins and was told I have to go online to request my flight credit for the flight I wasn't allowed to board. I was also told to request a credit for the rental car that I had to arrange last minute online. United did absolutely zero to assist. The next flight out wasn't until after 11am the next day, which caused me to miss a prepaid event, which was the entire reason for my trip. I had to drive over 3 hours in the middle of the night arriving 5am the next morning due to United Airlines' incompetence."
Pros: "They definitely had more viewing choices in their entertainment than anyone could watch."
Cons: "The two big complaints are the food which was quite pathetic for a 14 hour flight - half of a cold sandwich and one cookie!!! Really?? They need to fly their competition and see how it should be done! The biggest complaint of all is their slight of hand baggage charges. If they're going to partner with another airline, they need some communication and agreement about pricing and allowances. Even though we are United Club members and credit card holders, we were charged nearly $400 to bring our luggage home, after paying just $30., yes, thirty, on Air New Zealand to take two extra bags! United's own overseas policy allows two bags, but they charged us anyway on return because we came on an airline that only allows one even though we paid ANZ to bring extra. Extremely illogical."
Cons: "Our flight arrived at LAX 20 minutes early so expected to get my connecting flight on time. Boy was I wrong, we sat inside the plane on the runway for over an hour. It was getting hot inside and people were getting upset about missing their connecting flights. We went around in circles on the runway, about 3 times. As people were getting agitated, so was the stewardess. Also people had to use the restroom, and the stewardess kept asking people to stay in there seats and she begin to lose her cool. What do you expect when your on the runway for over an hour. When people got to go, they got to go. So after finally arriving at the gate, "late" United did get me on another flight thru Alaska which was great. Will I fly United again, hmm I'm sure I will, One bad experience won't scratch them off my list, but I will choose other airlines first and United will be my last resort."
Pros: "I really appreciate them getting us there safely the crew was fine and it was nice to have tvs on each seat complimentary it really helps having something else to take you away mentally when physically your crammed together and it's really not comfortable or pleasant. I think the staff and crew were just fine though it's just flying has gotten to be something I don't enjoy and want to avoid as much as possible it's that way with most airlines though I think her blue is a little better on seat space and usually always has the tvs but yeah they are limited where they fly and it I is just expensive and uncomfortable to fly I think."
Cons: "Uncomfortable and expensive."
Cons: "There was a grumpy mail air host. Vegetarian option was offered to everyone and hence none left for reminder of journey"
Pros: "The flight was on time"
Cons: "The times and layovers"
Pros: "Great entertainment system with lots of selections. Electrical outlets and USB port also great amenities but mine didn't work on the return flight."
Cons: "I am a small person and found the legroom to be inadequate. I paid $50 to upgrade the seats to economy plus to give us a bit more space but it wasn't any better. For a long, overseas flight, more space is needed. I had more legroom on my domestic flight with United. Also, the airline attendants for Air NZ were unpleasant and downright grumpy at times. It made a long, uncomfortable flight seem a whole lot longer. Attendants on my United Airlines leg was phenomenally more professional. Makes for a much happier passenger. Plane temperature was freezing on the return flight to LAX and oppressive on the flight from LAX to Auckland."
Pros: "Once in the air the flight was great."
Cons: "1/2 hr before boarding should have occurred we were notified of a delay- 1/2 hr. I knew I was going to miss my connection and asked, and told if I did they would put me on the next one out an hr later, but could not nor would not address it until necessary. When we arrived, they informed me of the gate to go to... which we ran to... and when we got to there were told the plane left 15 minutes ago."
Pros: "Absolutely nothing"
Cons: "Airplane was damaged and united wouldn't rebook us until the flight was officially cancelled hours later. Then United provided only one service person to address all of the passengers needs so we had to stand in line for a couple hours longer. Then they had no hotel rooms to put anybody up for the night that couldn't get a flight until the next day. Then they gave us a measly $10 food voucher. Then our luggage was mishandled has still has not shown up to my house. Then because of the change in flights I had to rearrange transportation home at 1130 pm that cost me an extra $125. A very miserable day because of United's lack of being proactive and poor decision making given the situation and circumstances."
Cons: "They held us on the plane from Indy to Chicago for so long that most of us knew we were going to miss our flights. I ran all the way to my gate to discover that the plane took off 10 minutes earlier than it was supposed to. I was told there were no other flights to LA and I would have to get a hotel until tomorrow. I was only going to be in California for 2 days so every second counts, so when I became upset the man checked again and found me a seat on a plane that took off in an hour. I was grateful but at the same time I was kind of displeased that he didn't offer that to me originally."
Pros: "It was on time which was good"
Cons: "EXTREME LACK OF LEG ROOM"
Pros: "Not much."
Cons: "had a 1 hour lay over at LAX. I travel with a Service Dog. I had taken him out to the doggie poddy area. I came back in and had to have my Boarding Pass checked. They informed me that I would need to have my Boarding pass stamped for my dog. It took them 20 minutes to take care of it, by now I was running short on time to get to my flight. As I went through Security, I saw the TSA agent remove my laptop from the bin on the conveyer belt. I saw him lower it to the floor (I thought he was putting it in my bag). It wasn't until I got to Abq. that I realized my computer wasn't in my bag. I have contacted United, TSA, and LAX police. None of them have done a thing."
Cons: "The flight was delayed for 4 hours and when I checked in the agents at the front desk offered me a $10 meal voucher to restaurants that were already closed, so it was basically useless. I had to walk to opposite end of the airport just to find something open. My seat and surrounding area were filthy. There was hard, crunchy food on the floor, the tray was sticky and the seat 'cushion' was rock hard. Being that I have a preexisting lower-back condition, sitting in that seat was horrible. When I asked a flight attendant for a wet rag to wipe the tray off they told me I could just switch seats and showed that they didn't care. Basically, it was a disappointing end to a great trip."
Cons: "Being delayed for 3 hours and having my friends and I miss our connecting flight to Newark"
Pros: "Crew was very professional, plane was clean. Ride was smooth."
Cons: "I had overweight passenger next to me who tried his very best to keep his left arm away from me, but when he fell asleep I was squeezed. No fault of Spirit. It was too tight of a seat arraignment. When I went to get my seat from customer service there was a man with luggage that will fit the template for carry on, but the wheels did not allow his suitcase to fit the length. He had to pay for his luggage, I thought the representative should have not charge him. I bought my ticket last minute as it was business trip decided 2 days prior. I chose Spirit for the convenient schedule, never used them before. For the same amount of money a coworker of mine got very convenient flight with no charge for carry on with assigned seats with American. I thinkg the price was not competitive."
Pros: "Worst customer service I've ever experienced, and I fly multiple times per month."
Cons: "Spirit Airlines wouldn't let me board my flight, after checking in on my phone and it telling me had to pick up boarding pass from counter. Got to counter 43 minutes before departure time (no security line, could have made it to gate 40 minutes before boarding time). Spirit Airlines staff refused to allow 13 passengers to board the flight, as we all stood there shocked. They said their systems do not allow them to print boarding passes within 45 mins of the flight. They probably had over-booked the flight. Everyone was entirely out the money, had to book new flights. Cost me and my wife $1,000."
Pros: "On February 15th I was stuck in Dallas from a flight from Cleveland to Los Angeles on an American Airlines flight. Out of desperation, I booked a Spirit flight for what I thought was the next morning from Dallas to LA only to realize a couple of hours later that the flight I booked was for March 16th instead of February 16th! When I called both Kayak and Spirit, I was told “sorry but there will be no refunds or credits issued! Talk about a total waste of my time and money. It’s too bad that given the circumstances of total exhaustion and frustration of trying to get to my destination of LA that out of desperation I accidentally booked a flight for the correct date but the wrong month. Thanks for listening. Gary"
Cons: "i booked the flight with flight network com - and unfortunately due to being ill, missed my departing flight. I call both flight network and spirit to relate I wanted to re-schedule, but wanted to keep my departure date. Both companies stated that because I missed my flight, I was not even able to use my return flight, which I had paid for. It is terrible that I could not even use my return flight. Regardless of missing my departure flight, I should not be punished in not being able to use my return flight! Ridiculous policy!"
Cons: "You should know that kayak doesn’t tell you that spirit has a carry on bag fee. And that fee changes based on if you booked it online at the airport via a kiosk or by an agent. They also make sure not to tell you that if you get through tsa with your carry on they won’t let you on the plane with it. You ok have to a significantly higher price. Of course it’s all a scheme to screw Yiyi. Then if you happen to have a problem with online checkin (like I did), there is no way to solve it. The airline does not have live representatives on their phone lines!! If you do complain about their issues via the online form (bc again you can’t speak to a rep) it will take them a week to answer and they will tell you that they can’t do anything. Horrible airline - will never fly on it again."
Pros: "Boarding went smoothly. Flights departed on time. Flight crew was very friendly."
Cons: "Arrival: Both flights arrived on time, BUT the plane remained on the runway for extended periods to await a gate. I know delays happen, but to wait on two out of two fights isn't a good average... Seats: I'm very small, and was very glad in these seats. I found the seats quite uncomfortable because they don't recline at all! Food/Beverage: Nothing is provided - not even water. Baggage Check: When making reservations, $30/bag to check didn't seem too bad. However, when pre-registering my luggage, in order to receive the $30/bag rate, I would have needed to spend $50 additional for a membership. I don't fly enough to make that worthwhile."
Cons: "Have you been screwed over by Spirit airlines? Have you noted how a carry-on costs over $40? Have you noticed that you can't check in on the internet without signing up for their website and giving them all your personal information? Have they suddenly and at the last hour delayed your flight by 4 hours without letting you know, and then claimed that they emailed you, when they didn't? Have you noticed that they don't allowed comments to be posted to their facebook page (because they'd get nothing but bad comments). On top of that, when I got to the front counter, where I was told that my flight was delayed 3 hrs (thanks for not texting ir emailing me about it), I asked the guy at the counter to check and see if I was still on the flight. He confirmed that I was. But when we started boarding, my ticket no longer worked and he could not find me on the flight list! Wtf??? I almost got left out of th plane because of what???"
Pros: "seat was pretty comfy and spacious."
Cons: "some members in crew seemed to be disctiminating. I was wearing a head scarf and one of the air hostess, even though she looked embarrased doing it, came up to me to ask my name she marked something on her paper too. She tried to make it very normal because I can understand it hard to abide with the rule that you dont actually agree with. Well I literally have no problem being looked over or being asked the name, but i just think its pretty sad if they treat people differently just because the way they are dressed up. I had my baby with me and i would never want him to get a bad impression about people. putting a scarf is just a way of dressing like wearing swimming suit would be for a lot of people swimming. I am part of America and I used to not wear the scarf because the way people look at you but I took the fear out and started practicing something my religion teaches me, but being treated differently just because there is some addition in my dressing is pretty sad. if there is a rule like that wiyh airlines, thry really should change it: just my thought..otherwise, my religion teaches me to respect everyone and follow the legit rules, and I have no problem kn answering unnecessary questions too because I know I am right"
Pros: "Decent for the price you pay for the ticket alone. Imagine bare minimum as far as standards met."
Cons: "That they are not up front about paying an extra $10 to print the boarding pass in airport each way AND that I was not aware that you do not get a free personal item and carry-on. I had to pay an extra $50 each way for my carry-on (total $100 which was same amount for the ticket). I didn't budget for this and found out last minute. The other passengers didn't seem to follow the size restrictions as far as carry-on and in speaking with them, I don't believe they actually paid like I did. Could've saved that $100. Wow. I could've taken Jet Blue for the same price with free personal item and carry-on with free snack service AND movie."
Cons: "Spirit cancelled on me last minute and would not put me on another airline to get to Minnesota. It was a terrible experience and I have no interest flying with them ever again. After speaking to a counter agent, I called them and they couldn't get me on anything to get to Minnesota that day, which is when I absolutely had to be there in order to get my work done. It was a huge waste of my time and resources. Sure, I got my ticket price back - only after arguing with them that the reason that I should get my full ticket back (instead of just the leg to Minnesota) is because THEY cancelled on ME."
Cons: "This was my first trip with this airline and I will never fly with this airline again. I blame Kayak for not pre warned me for deceptive practices of this airline. First, they bring their prices down to get you to fly with them . Then they charge you $50 for any luggage is checked. The limit for luggage weight is 40Lb versus 50 Lb in other airlines. As the result I was charged extra $ for 10 Lb over the limits. I had a small carry on and I was charged for $57 for that as well. At the end for one hour flight fro Las Vegas to LaX, I was charged all these extras which cost me significant $ above the purchase price of one way ticket from your web side. I did not know any of these until I had to deal with the agent. By the way, I could not use their self check in machine, and they charge me $10 more. And they did not have adequate staff at the gate and three sets of passenger had to cut in front of me.!! Total Disaster"
Pros: "The staff on the plane were friendly."
Cons: "The flight was delayed, it took a very long time to board. Upon landing, we waited in our seat for over 30 minutes completed stationary after midnight. Water is not offered unless you pay, no TVs, no WiFi, chairs do not recline, and the chair "table" can barely hold your smart phone, a mini tablet is too large to balance. Upon check in, the agent demanded a paper boarding pass and when I showed him an email, he said, you must print. Now I understand there is a FEE to print, which was never explained. This is the only time I have been told to print a boarding pass, it's 2017. A carry on larger than a purse will cost nearly as much as the flight. Overall, I will not be flying Spirit again. I actually canceled my return flight just so I could have a better experience, WiFi, and perhaps a cup of water."
Cons: "I payed nearly twice the sticker price with all the hidden fees. What they don't tell you is that they charge for carryon and luggage, and are allowed to change those prices whenever and to whatever amount they want. They tried to make me pay to print my boarding pass, and both my flights were delayed one by 20 minutes, and the trip back by over an hour and a half. Both the planes I flew on were old and outdated and they don't even offer water without a price tag. Never going to fly with them again."
Pros: "Cost online appeared to be very good"
Cons: "Not clearly presented were "purchase" options, like having a carry-on which cost $55 if purchased at the gate, $45 if purchased right online, Big problem: I was not emailed an online prompt to check-in, so I had to check in "manually" at the airport terminal. I was told the carry-on baggage fee right at the gate would be $100! But the agent gave me a discount and I was "only" charged $45. I was not able to reach anyone by phone or by online chat re checking in or paying extra charges for a personal carry-on. I felt a bit set up to pay extra because Spirit was not informing me of the need to check in online and/or the need to pay extra for a checked bag."
Cons: "I arrived at the gate 50mins before my flight. I proceeded to go to the check in to check my bag and print my boarding pass. After standing in line for almost 10mins a man behind the counter who had been on his phone, called me up to the counter. He then proceeded to make me go to a computer kiosk to "print my boarding pass." Once I did the machine wouldn't print it because the computer stops printing them at the 45min check off point. I stood in line again, to then be called up by a woman behind the counter, who told me I was late, even though I was told to check in by computer 3mins after the cut off time and waiting in line for almost 10. She called the gate to "try" to get me on my flight, but both her and the gate said there was nothing I could do because I wouldn't be able to get through security quick enough...While I have TSA Pre check clearance, this atrocious airline does not use TSA Pre so I wouldn't have the ability to fly through security. I was then told that I needed to go to someone else to change my flight to a later time since I "missed" my first one, all the while they could have printed me a boarding pass and I could have walked through security. I was told that I would have to pay $99+ for changing my flight and that there weren't anymore spirits flights from Houston to Lax til the next day. After trying to reason that I infact was not tardy to my flight and it was their lack of competence and logic that caused this debacle, I decided to eat the cost of the ticket and I purchased a ticket through American and flew out an hour or so later. Not only was security a breeze but by the time I bought my ticket through American and went through security, the spirit flight was still at the gate. I also used the kayak app to see what other flights were available and the flight I was supposed to be on was still advertised for sale, even after their supposed cut off time. I will absolutely NEVER fly Spirit air ever again."
Cons: "My flight to LAX was delayed due to tech problems. Staff lied and said it was weather, found out later from pilot it wasn't. Missed my connecting int'l flight, had to pay $450 out of pocket. Spirit doesn't want to reimburse and instead offered $50 voucher. $50?? That is how much they charge for 1 bag. Ridiculous. My first experience with Spirit and may be the last unless they reimburse me. In LAX they make you check in "online" on a kiosk (presumably to save you time), then make you wait in line for another hour to drop your bag off. WTH? What's the point of that charade? Worst check-in experience of my life. This airline won't last long if they treat people this way. Their own staff appeared miserable and on the verge of homicide or suicide. No wonder."
Pros: "Crew were friendly, although a bit too relaxed some sitting scrolling through facebook on phones once the plane had landed. Planes were clean. Even though we had to circle for ages as windy at LAX, Captain kept us well informed."
Cons: "Website was down so there was no way to check in online. System was down at SEA-TAC so boarding cards could not be printed resulting in having to wait for ages then was given a handwritten boarding pass.other customers with printed passes were being turned away at TSA line. Baggage prices are ridiculous, you have to pay for carry on AND checked luggage. I had neither but even so my flight wasn't THAT cheap so glad I didn't have to pay the extortionate fees on top of that too. I flown budget many times in Europe but Spirit is very basic. I wish my fare had reflected this otherwise I wouldn't have moaned!"
Pros: "Flight was delayed an hour. Original boarding time was 9:30pm, gate agent told me (and the screen said) New boarding time was set 10:30. I went to a restaurant and edited some pics. Came back at 10:00 and the plane took off at 9:45. The salt to the wound is the fact that I was negotiating a new flight or deciding if I wanted my money back and they called the cops because it was after 12 (when they close). Needless to say I'm not in Michigan and you ruined my thanksgiving plans, didn't even apologize and called the police on me. I think I would rather recommend someone put their own genitals in a vice before doing business with you pieces of sh*t."

Pros: "Random seating got me a front row seat in the bigger seats. That was a plus."
Cons: "My flight was delayed for 5 hours on the way there because of a problem with a valve then a computer malfunction, the crew didn't handle it well when people understandably were upset asking for an eta and were told, "15 minutes, 15 more minutes, 15 more minutes..." over and over for 5 hours. They could have at least provided a complimentary drink. The flight attendants didn't were not customer service oriented at all. They were visibly flustered and rude about the whole thing. When the head flight attendant was asked "Should we just never fly spirit airlines again?" She answered with a "mmhmm" and a nod of her head. Also, They charge 50$ to carry on a bag....? Never heard of that one. I will not fly t his airline ever again."
Cons: "My flight on Friday evening (Flight 510 I believe) was badly delayed due to the inbound aircraft being grounded in LA which would have caused me to miss my connecting flight. In hopes of remedying the situation I tried calling Spirit Airlines directly (about 2.5 hours before departure) but the only advice they would give me was to go to the ticketing counter at the airport anyway and see what they say. What is the point of having a phone line if no one will give you advice? Anyway, I went to the airport and ticketing counter and they too were not helpful. All they said to me was we can reimburse you or give you a credit towards another flight at a later time. They didn't talk to me about other flights I could take with them to get me to my destination. They didn't discuss partnering airlines that could help. They seemed entirely disinterested in me. So much so that they began hanging holiday decorations in front of me. I want to point out that at no point was anyone rude to me, they were just unable to help with anything and didn't seem like they wanted to try. I will not be flying with Spirit Airlines again."
Cons: "I didn't like the baggage policy. I didn't like the check in policy or the fact that they don't support TSA precheck because they hope to sell you on an additional fee that will get you through a prority lane. I didn't like the seats which are hard plastic, close together, and don't recline. I didn't like the mini tray table that wouldn't support my laptop so I couldn't work. I didn't like that Spirit falsely advertises with the tag line "LESS MONEY, MORE GO" when the base fare for my connecting flight on this sub-par airline was more expensive than a direct flight on a better airline-before the other fees were added."
Cons: "I went to check in with the Spirit agents and they told me my bag would be fine for a personal item after I put it in the measuring display. However, when I got to the gate, they told me my bag was not allowed unless I paid $100 for it. I knew exactly which agent I talked to when I checked in for my boarding pass, but the supervisor wouldn't let me contact the agent at check in. The lack of communication is ridiculous. The supervisor at the gate was extremely rude to me and told me that my words were "bullshit." I will never fly with Spirit again and always pay for your bag because the agents at check in and at the gate are not on the same page with Spirit rules whatsoever."
Cons: "The say they are the home of the "bare fare" like it's a good thing. What they mean is, by the time you pay for a lite checked bag or for a single carry on you'll be paying just as much as any of their competitors. And forget about getting any type of snack or refreshments. That is unless you Want to pay out the nose for the grossest drink selection I've ever seen. No entertainment options at all, staff was barely attentive, seats were dirty with no comfort amenities. They were as bad as you can expect from a bargain airline, and not actually cheaper once you include the ridiculous baggage charges."
Cons: "I woke up at 4:30 am in Denver to catch my 8 am flight to Los Angeles. I had to catch 2 trains to get to the airport and missed my check in time by 2 minutes. LITERALLY 2 minutes! I was the only one in line behind another couple just to correct the issue. The ladies at the service counter were less than happy to be there, probably because they have to hear about all the terrible stuff that happens when people fly Spirit. They said I had to be checked in 45 minutes to boarding and I got there 43 minutes to boarding. The lady informed me that I have to get another flight, with a layover, and land in LA 5 hours after the original landing. On top of that, I had to pay $99 for their inconvenience? Here's the kicker! I got through TSA and what do I see? The plane I was supposed to be on to LA still parked and boarding! On top of this, no courtesy email reminder to check in. Horrible! They need to brush up on basic customer service. Spirit airlines is the biggest con in the sky. I booked flights with them before and have had ok experiences, but this ridiculous. I have a Spirit flight to Chicago on November 5th which I booked through Kayak that I'm already dreading."
Pros: "Flight arrived somewhat on time. Boarding wasn't a disaster."
Cons: "Spirit uses every opportunity they can to charge you for something, then pat themselves on the back for offering a stripped-down, low cost service. Base fare - $90 Selecting a seat - $20 Carry on Bag - $45 Printing out your boarding pass at the airport - $10 Water onboard the plane - $3 All told, the flight ended up costing me nearly double the base fare because of all of the fun "extras" I had to pay for. Meanwhile, my very nice American Airlines flight on the way to Denver cost $70 with no extra charges attached. Yes, they literally charge you an additional fee to select any seat - there's no seat included with the base fare. Yes, they literally charge you to carry on a bag. Yes, they literally charge you at the check-in counter to print out your boarding pass. Yes, they literally charge you for water while you're on board the plane. Yes, they literally cram more seats into a plane than any other airline, then tell you to "cozy up and high-five your neighbor for how much money you're saving." Then while you're on the plane, they have the flight crew mongering the Spirit Airlines Visa card as if they haven't already done enough to debase the notion of good customer service. But the fact that Spirit goes out of its way to offer the worst possible flight experience, then tries to act like it's doing you, the passenger, a favor, is simply infuriating. Spirit, we get it, you're a terrible airline that milks every line item of the purchase like a sleazy car salesman. Don't act like something you're not."
Cons: "Be warned, they charge an absurd amount of money for carry-on luggage. I usually travel with one small carry-on bag which is free on any other airline. However, when I arrived at check-in, I was charged $55 for it. Even worse, on my return flight I was misinformed at check in and lead to believe I didn't have to pay the fee again... But when I got to the gate, they wouldn't let me board unless I gave them $100. Apparently if you bypass the $55 fee at check-in, the rate almost doubles at the gate. Not to mention the lady at the gate was incredibly rude and entitled."
Pros: "I tried to check in on line. No one sent me the check in mail. I tried many times. Since kayak sent it to price line, I tried with price line and it said to go directly to spirit. I went to spririt many time but unsuccessful. I fill in information but drops the information. I decided to check in at airport. Trains made big delays and arrived airport 45 min before departure and dead line was 1 hour before. I was cut. No other flights were available except for the same one on the next day. They charged $99 for change fee. I missed many appointments, spent extra $99. There is very little direct flights between phl and lax, and price seems good at the beginning but ended up expensive and lost one day, spirit had very very bad service and I don't want to use it again."
Cons: "I want to receive mail for check in. Spirit should repair their website so that people can check in on line. They should make people check in at airport if they had a failure on their web. Check in dead Lind needs to move to 40min prior to departure instead of 60 min. if it was caused by their failure, they should not charge for change fee of $98. I just hate spirit."
Cons: "I had to book an entirely different flight with an different airline just to get to LA when I was suppose to. Otherwise, I could've been stuck waiting till Thursday with no guarantee of getting on a flight over because they overbooked every flight of theirs all week. None of this was my fault! I was a full hour early for my flight. I ran to the bathroom for a maximum of 2 min. Came back and the jerk behind the counter said it was 10 minutes before the plane was scheduled to leave, and I couldn't board because the doors close 15 min prior to departure. The plane was still here...why couldn't they just let me on quickly. The guy didn't call my name or say last call on the announcements. This incompetent employee asked me how to pronounce my name to which he admitted he completely butchered and said a different name entirely"
Pros: "For the most part everybody were professional and friendly . Except for one customer service rep in The New Orleans airport. We always arrived on time to our destination"
Cons: "There are fees for everything. I checked in my carry because I was going to have to pay anyway so did not have to lug it around. Unfortunately it did not make it with me. The clothes I was wearing to travel in was not for New Orleans weather. I had to use some of my vacation money to buy clothes. I'm hoping I get reimbursed for the inconvenience. Luckily the young lady that helped us was efficient and friendly. Lastly the customer service Rep in new Orleans was extremely rude bordering hostile. Auro Bonilla. I asked her for her name and she tried to spell it in Spanish after repeatedly asking for her name because she would not give it up. I can assume she tried to spell it out in Spanish hoping hoping I would not understand and spell it wrong. Luckily a friendly manager Ashley came to assist and assured me she would speak to Aura I am hoping this woman no longer works with customers and maybe somewhere in the back."
Pros: "When I got to the gate to board, I had a young boy I was traveling with as part of a group, but was trying to make sure he didn't sit alone. The staff at the gate literally met to see how they could help me out and due to previous seat reservations could not get me seated right next to the boy but put him right behind me in a window seat, it was also the boys first time flying so he got to enjoy the view of take off. Also because I was placed so close, I was able to switch seats with another passenger and still ended up sitting next to him. I appreciate the effort by multiple staff to accommodate me, recognizing these types of needs and acknowledging them, despite the fact I had missed my opportunity previously , it is to me something I really appreciate and thank the staff for their courtesy."
Cons: "It gets very dry on the plane, and also I was dealing with allergies, I think it would be great if more frequent passes down the aisle took place, as I needed some tissue and water. This may also add sales for food and drink during flight, so I think it is definitely worth the effort, a friend ended up getting me tissue."
Cons: "Flight was delayed, constantly checked in and no time was given as to when the flight would depart. I left to get food and I was assured the plane wouldn't be there or board in the time I took to get food. It had been an hour and a half of delays at that point. Went to grab a bite and came back and the doors to board were closed, and was given lackluster help to resolve the situation. Not one call was given for my name over a loud speaker, meanwhile every other airline was calling passengers who were required for their respective flights. I ended up leaving the gate and was met with a terrible attitude considering the situation, and I proceeded to purchase a ticket with another airline and took said flight. It was a terrible travel day to say the least and spirit made it that much more difficult and ended up costing me a lot of money."
Pros: "The crew was funny and made my flight go fast."
Cons: "A lot. Spirit does not accept cash for your drinks. What place doesn't accept cash??? Also on the link to the website that gives info about how many bags your allowed to check-in it said 2 and 1 carry-on. I flew to L.A. for work so I had some tools in my check-in bag. They charged me $130 for checking in 2 bags. I showed them the Web page and she told me it has not been updated. I was upset. The checking of the bags cost me more than my flight. Both bags did not exceed 30 lbs. I'm flying Southwest from now on."
Cons: "I didn't like the charge for my "carry-on", that fit in the bin that stated, "if it fits, it's free" Wasn't free, $65 on the way to Minn. and $55 on the way back to LA. I also think your flight attendants talk way too much over the intercom. I get if you are trying to push your credit card, but I didn't need to hear about it for what seemed like 15 minutes. For people on such an early flight who would probably like to catch up on some sleep a little more quiet would have been nice. Also I think someone can spent max $10 at a hardware store and purchase something to place on the restroom doors so that they don't need to slam so much. I guess that's the price you pay for sitting in the a last row by the restrooms. **I think those seats rates should be cheaper. But probably never booking with Spirit ever again"
Pros: "The plane from Atlanta to LAX was new and comfortable. We met 2 friendly crew members in Atlanta at the gate that helped us because James at the check in counter was rude obnoxious and not helpful."
Cons: "Your website is the worst airline website I've experienced and I travel 5-6 times per year on other airlines. Somehow the baggage choices I made at booking did not register and you made sure I paid double at check in. You crew member James in Atlanta was rude and unhelpful. We couldn't understand what he was saying to us and when we asked him a question he was obviously annoyed that we spoke and let us know it. I manage a company with 90 employees in a sales enviroment and he would not work for me 10 minutes. Your business model is disingenuous at best and ends up being a rip-off. You advertise low rates on Kayak and other sites that say nothing about your baggage fees and extra charges. Only after the flight is booked do you find out about the extra, and may I say ridiculous, baggage charges. When the final bill is tallied any other airline would have been cheaper and the service would have been better. This was my first and LAST Spirit flight."
Pros: "That it didn't crash. Although that would have spared me the return ride on Spirit airlines."
Cons: "I'm not even sure where to start. Both of my flights were delayed with no explanation. Airport terminal and airplane were filthy. It literally spelled like diapers and bad cologne. There were extra charges for every possible thing, including reserving a seat and checking in at the airport. If I had known this I would have flown another airline because I ended up spending more money with Spirit. The seats don't recline, and I was told I could get water out of the bathroom sink if I wanted some. The airline crew was making several lewd and inappropriate comments on the return flight, including a male attendant saying he rubbed everyones pens down his pants. All around horrible."
Cons: "Spirit airlines cancelled our flight because of weather but every other airline continued to fly out. In fact, we were able to get a flight out at almost exactly the same time on American Airlines. The worst part was that they were trying to reschedule us for 2 days later!! They said that was the soonest we could fly on their airline. Im not sure who on earth can change their plans by 2 days at the last minute but it sure wasn't an option for us. There also was to be no help for the 2 nights (at 250$ per nigh0t we would have had to stay at a hotel."
Pros: "That it was only a one hour flight..."
Cons: "that was delayed more than an hour. Lucky for me, I was only going to where I was flying. A number of people who were catching a connecting flight at LAX were going to miss their flight. With this flight being the last flight out of Oakland for the evening (not just of Spirit, but of any airline), those people were really screwed. So even after our flight was delayed, we ended up sitting on the tarmac at our gate for another half an hour after we were boarded and the doors were closed. The plane was full, the air was hot and stanky, and there was no air circulation. Add to that their thin crappy seats that had to be designed by Josef Mengele, and the cabin crew who were more interested in selling us snacks and Spirit Air credit cards than our comfort... Lesson learned. Stay away from Spirit Air. Never again."
Pros: "Unfortunately, I was not aware of Spirits business model or I would have been better prepared - the fairly well priced flight I got for my child and I were offset by having to pay OVER $100 for 2 CARRY on bags (that's right... Not checked but CARRY ON SIZED BAGS!! Low number of employees had lines everywhere and chaotic check in do to majority surprised by bag fees! Seats do not recline - no entertainment screens very "low budget". The advertising campaign is cute and makes the "no frills" look hip, but very tough cross country flight for us."
Cons: "We are LIVID that flight was canceled and we're not contacted until we went through security! My husband is handicapped and you have no idea what a nightmare it became because we had 3 connecting flights from PHX to OGG (Hawaii)! Then you have the stupidity to send out this survey for s flight that never existed! We will never fly Spirit again and we are cancelling both of our credit cards because we never want anything to do with Spirit....the phone agent said to go to any ticket agent and they would comp amd reschedule our flight with another airline. Ticket agent refused! The Maui trip we saved 40 years for to celebrate our 40th anniversary was totally ruined! Patricia A Carlini Carlinip114@gmail.con"
Pros: "Literally nothing."
Cons: "The fact that my flight got delayed, then canceled, then uncapable of rescheduling another flight unless I called the airline at Oakland. That call took 40 minutes for me to get an attendant. They try to compensate with a 50$ voucher, but that's literally the cost of adding a carry on... Which I would like to say is the most outrageous of fees. Not only do they not provide proper baggage without fees, they're ability to help customers that have to change all of their plans due to a unplanned cancelation is terrible. I understand things go wrong and you can't predict it, but their website was non accessible, phone service awful, and their compensation was inadequate. Never using this airline again."
Cons: "I showed up 45 min early to my scheduled flight even though the spirit website said the flight was 55 min delayed. Then the lady at the front desk said the plane was boarded and she couldn't let me on even though the website said it was 1 hour and 40 min until takeoff. Then she proceeded to tell me that she couldn't refund my ticket because all sales are final. Then I called the corporate customer service number then next day to see if they would refund me and after explaining my situation and spending 74 minutes on the phone, the guy told me that his 'supervisor just left for the day' and wanted me to call back again tomorrow. Do not fly Spirit."
Cons: "Spirit cancelled our flight two hours after its original take-off time, only informing us via e-mail. Passengers had to use the intercom system at the gate to get a live person to come talk to us and even then it was airport staff, not actual Spirit employees. The staff at the Spirit check-in counter would not help us, and our checked baggage was held hostage for two more hours with no word from Spirit as we all waited at the baggage claim. I have never experienced such poor customer service. I realize this is a cheap company, but if you can't even expect minimum service you're only wasting money and time. This company should not be in business."
Pros: "I actually liked the fact that we arrived in LA 45 mins early."
Cons: "The Flight Attendants weren't pleasant...one short "black Attendant serving in "Coach" seemed so miserable. She wasn't pleasant AT ALL! Her demeanor was as if she just would rather be somewhere else, anywhere else but here on this flight serving us. The other Attendants weren't overly friendly either, but they weren't as obviously indifferent as this short one was. The Pilot was the nicest part of the whole Fight. Also the fact that I had to pay $50.00 to check my bag $55. to be able to bring it on the plane...the most I've had to pay EVER! thus-far. So the money I saved w/ this Airline cost me more than if I were to have booked my flight w/ another Airline. Also, NO MAGAZINES TO READ, NO MOVIES TO WATCH, FOOD WAS BEING OFFERED AT A PRICE 4 times they dId this..I FOUND THIS TO BE EXTREMELY "TACKY" Especially considering the length of this FLIGHT to CALIFORNIA frm Philadelphia. I never had to pay for in-flight refreshments on shorter flights than this one. I''VE flown more than I ever have in this past year w/ different Airlines and this was the worse experience SO Far! It wasn't worth it! I am NEVER FLYING ANYWHERE W/ THIS AIRLINE AGAIN! I'd rather pay a little more than to be "NICKELED & DIMED" TO DEATH! Also the two passengers I sat next to said the same! Ya'll might want to address these matters or you may NOT EXSIST IN THE NEAR FUTURE."
Pros: "Crew was helpful. Like flight attendants. And the pilots were very informative."
Cons: "I'm traveling with my Five year old and you make me pay for a seat? Otherwise we will have random seats and there's no guarantee we will sit together...by the way it's $18 a person? Wow!!! Also my bag was $55 and it was under 20 pounds. So all together I spent $100 just walking into the air port. Honestly now I know and I'll never fly spirt again told all my friends and family in social media as well. For as much as I spent flying with you I could have flown with any other airlines and wouldn't have gotten this shocker paying for an assigned seat with my daughter. Good luck to you all....no wonder you are the worst air line in America, glad to see you're doing all you can to keep that title."
Pros: "Flight was fast."
Cons: "Extremely unprofessional staff from the moment I walked up to the gate to leave Los Angeles Friday morning, to the moment I returned Monday night. I didn't think there was actually such thing as a "bad airline" until I flew Spirit. I'm sure there are plenty of complaints for little things, but this airline was truly bothersome and very uncomfortable, especially when the airplane was about land and one a male flight attendant began flicking the lights and laughed after. No airline should treat guests in such a way."
Pros: "this flight was delayed for 3 hours. i ened up looseing my job because of it. i called and complained and no one can do anything but give me 50$ on my next flight with you guys BUT I WILL NEVER fly spirit again. I WANT MY MONEY BACK also on the flight you guys were charging for water are you kidding me?!!!??? after being delayed and having upset flyers you should at least do a free drink. ALSO your flight attendant wouldnt sell any alcohol on the flight which was dumb and probably wouldnt have happened if you did something nice for the people flying. like a free drink..."
Cons: "Every Spirit flight at the airport was delayed at least an hour and a half--- most several hours. It was not due to weather, but needing maintenance on planes and new crews. All of which could have been planned out to keep schedule, but they just don't care about their customers. They never apologized, never said "hello" or "welcome," never said "goodbye" or "thanks for flying with us" or "have a good day." The seats are squished closer together than most planes, with the headrest in front of you being a couple inches away from your face. Seats do not recline. You can pay $25 extra to be in one of the very few rows that has a couple extra inches of legroom, though. No modern conveniences like tvs or power plugs or wifi. I paid $10 extra to board the plane earlier, in Zone 2 instead of Zone 3, in a desperate hope to find overhead luggage space (I've been burned before), and then during boarding they announced Zones 2 and 3 together! People paid money for that privilege to move up a group, but they made us all board at the same time that we would have without paying extra. With no refunds. Unacceptable. They nickel-and-dime you until the "cheap flight" now costs more than other airlines. I understand charging for the checked bag. I expect that nowadays. But they charged $55 for the CARRYON bag! And every single item they could give you on a cross-country flight cost money. Even WATER. You have to pay for water on a five hour flight!! They did really push the credit card applications, though, as if they were doing you a favor. The worst turbulence of my life I guess isn't the airlines fault... But it doesn't help the experience when people actually scream from fright. Then, once on the ground and glad to be alive, (again, no normal human/customer service pleasantries of any kind, just a "get off my plane right now" vibe from flight crew) we had to wait 45 minutes for our bags at Baggage Claim! 45 minutes!! I heard about 30 different passengers on my flight say loudly they will never fly with Spirit again, and I agree! I am definitely never flying with Spirit Airlines ever again!"
Cons: "After unexplained delays the flight was just canceled. Everyone was told to leave the terminal go pick up baggage from a baggage carousel and get in line to re-book. There were 1 to 2 Spirit representatives available to assist in re-booking the entire plane. Getting through to anyone on the phone was impossible. This was on a Tuesday and many were told there were no flights available until Friday. I booked with another airline and 4 hours later when I was checking in for my new flight there were still at least 30 people in the Spirit line waiting to rebook."
Cons: "cancelled flight and not enough customer service to deal with people"
Pros: "Polite professional seasoned flight attendants. Base ticket was cheap."
Cons: "Two and a half hours Late. 2 for $5 diet cokes. This flight did not have the new spirit seats. Had old style seats. Very cramped and tight. I felt baggage restrictions were over strong on the website. I paid for a carry-on because it said a personal item is a purse and a carry on is a back pack. Turns out small backpacks (i.e. Regular old backpack, not aluminum framed camping monstrositys) are perfectly fine. But alas " baggage charges are non-refundable. Sucker! Pay for seat choice at boarding time, surprise! Endure pushy credit card offer."
