Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
"Flight from Chicago to Los Angeles was terrible On my ticket said economy plus which that is what I paid for but didn’t get a seat As economy plus"
"More water delivery and less time between meals. Good food and staff"
Pros: "Fuck Kayak for stealing my money and not allowing me to fly. I hope you lose all your business and force to shutdown."
Cons: "Kayak are nothing but fraud. Pure fraud. Took my money and I didn’t get the chance to travel."
Pros: "Flight was fine...."
Cons: "....but departure wa delayed over an hour"
Cons: "Last minute change of boarding gate led to a dash across the airport!"
Cons: "We paid for meals that were NOT delivered"
Pros: "New, clean airplane with a friendly and professional crew. It was not as uncomfortable as some of the other airlines I've used, though eight hours in economy is still too much. I chose it in part because of the connection through Copenhagen, which I recommend for an overnight stay. Great city."
Cons: "The chicken something or other on one of the flights was truly disgusting, but the rest of the economy food service was okay."
Pros: "Excellent and professional crew members"
Cons: "Nothing, the flight was smooth, most enjoyable"
Pros: "The crew was nice and the food was good."
Cons: "More entertainment options"
Pros: "The crew was amazing but delays upto 2 hrs"
Cons: "Nothing as not in control"
Cons: "I intensely disliked the 3 hour delay in Copenhagen!!! And that SAS offered the passengers in transit a meal voucher of only 50 danish Kronas, which was just enough to buy a tall Starbucks coffee drink but not enough to eat anything at the airport!"
Pros: "Excellent short flight"
Cons: "Did not eat"
Pros: "Planes are newish and comfortable. Decent amount of room in economy. Very good entertainment system with a not of great Nordic content (Swedish, Danish and Norwegian movies) Food was pretty good for an airplane. The service is excellent. I slept through the meal service, but they still made it a point to get me a meal when I woke up. Old fashioned tea and coffee service, with a steward going up and down the aisles with proper tea and coffee pots. Very professional, a high end feel to everything."
Cons: "Not a thing"
Pros: "Good crew"
Cons: "Premium economy wasn’t as good as others"
Pros: "Nice staff, comfortable seats with good room, complimentary beverages with refills offered."
Cons: "Late leaving, when boarding in CPH had to wait in extremely hot area once past the desk where our boarding passes were scanned and then the area where we had to queue just prior to boarding the plane was glass and therefore extremely hot. The worst issue was that there was one family with extremely loud children with the parents doing nothing. I saw a steward way up the plane looking down at them at one stage while serving another passenger but she did nothing. I like children but this was constant with the father actually encouraging the children to make more noise once he realised that other passengers were annoyed. There were plenty of other children on the plane who were behaving. Although SAS staff were aware of this they did nothing to ensure the comfort of the other passengers. One friend of mine stood for about 40 minutes at the back of the plane and another for about 20 minutes to get away from this constant noise as it was so loud and persistent. I had to listen to music to block it out.SAS staff should have intervened because this was very loud and as I have said constant i.e. every few seconds for most of the flight."
Cons: "My flight was cancelled and no one notified me! Instead, FlyUs.com placed me on a different SAS flight that had a 15 minute layover in Copenhagen. Needless to say, I would have missed the flight from Copenhagen. I realized the issue the day-of, spent hours on the phone trying to book a different flight through the customer services at FlyUs.com (stupid company!), and was finally rebooked by SAS on a different airline. When I called SAS directly, they immediately took care of the situation and handled it well, but I wasted an entire day dealing with FlyUs.com, waiting on confirmation for a flight that I was never going to receive. The whole experience was awful."
Pros: "on time"
Cons: "food selection"
Pros: "The only thing that saved the flight was a good crew and decent food."
Cons: "My husband uses a wheel chair and a delightful attendant wheeled him and about 20 other passengers to a very well equipped handicap area. There we all stayed until finally we demanded that we be taken to our flight which was supposed to leave in about 10 minutes. When we boarded the plane all the other passengers were already there and I was the last one on. All the overhead bins were taken and I had to put my carry-on under the seat which left me with almost no leg room. By the time we arrived in SFO my thighs and back hurt so much that I was worried maybe I would require medical attention. Which fortunately was not the case. It was luck that I had a bag that would actually fit under the seat."
Pros: "I liked that it was available for me to return to Amsterdam in such late notice. Got there quickly and even earlier (10 mins) then expected."
Cons: "No on offered me anything to drink or a snack the entire flight or even a hand towel but others in front and behind me were receiving them. I didnt even feel acknowledged during the flight. Even though the tine was good, the price was way too high but since I was desperate I paid it."
Pros: "Fairly new plane."
Cons: "Only airline that made us check in our luggage; and charged us an exorbitant amount (+/- $90 per luggage) in doing so. No customer service at all. 1st attendant wouldn’t let us check-in at the counter, and 2nd attendant made us check in our carry-on despite it only being 2kg over. We could’ve moved some items around. When we boarded the plane, we saw multiple people whose carry-on looked suspiciously over the weight limit. We felt singled out. It was obvious that this airline only cares about profit and does not care about the customer. Attendants were rude and not helpful. Needless to say I will nit fly with this airline again."
Pros: "Nice aircraft (A321) and informative ground staff."
Cons: "The take it or leave it attitude of the cabin crew (amazingly casual) and SAS’s persistence in having two standards of service in the one cabin - free food & drink up front, however only tea & coffee or a cup of water up the back and you can pay for the rest."
Pros: "boarding was on time, crew were polite, food was great, and the extra cup of tea was really hot"
Pros: "The crew on-board were polite and did a fairly decent job, with what they had to work with... It's a big long flight of 11+ hours, so tough to deal with so many people. An unexpected surprise was the nice selection of all types of movies to watch and kill time."
Cons: "300+ People on a plane will "radiate" heat, so the temperature inside the cabin after 6 hours was so hot that I was perspiring profusely. I even requested it be adjusted, which it seemed to be for a few minutes but then right back up to 27°C... it is too long of a flight to be that uncomfortable with no adjustments considered. I asked other passengers if they too were "uncomfortable" ALL said yes. This would have solved also in my opinion the screaming small children that were also obviously "irritated" A cooler cabin would have induced a "sleep" environment, none of which I was able to get. Sadly, based on this alone, I will not fly SAS again, unless Business Coach class or 1st Class. I was surprised that an additional Coca-Cola was charged for when some beverages were complimentary... puzzling."
Pros: "This is obviously a very well-run airline. Boarding was efficient, the crew were warm and professional, and the overall feel of the aircraft was very Scandinavian-cool. I was most impressed with the meal service. We were served twice on our 9 hour flight, and both meals were hot, healthy, and the best I’ve had during a flight. The passenger in front of us was having a hard time with her sinuses, and the flight attendant (whose name I wish we had gotten) was very attentive and concerned for the comfort and well-being of the passenger. She insisted on doing anything she could to alleviate the woman’s difficulty. It is clear that the crew care about the passengers’ experience."
Cons: "We were unable to sleep at all during our overnight flight and landed pretty exhausted. Our seats were comfortable (complete with a moldable headrest to keep your head from bobbing around) but we felt too upright to fall asleep. The passenger in front of us reclined, but we were concerned about reclining into the already tight space of the passenger behind us. So we weren’t able to sleep, despite trying to get comfortable/somewhat horizontal. It seemed to be a mixed bag of asleep and awake passengers on the flight, so some people were unaffected by this issue."
Pros: "On time, easy boarding"
Cons: "The flight was nearly full and everyone seemed to have at least two cases. This caused lots of jostling for space in the lockers"
Pros: "Great flight, on time great crew."
Pros: "Very friendly crew Intime departure and arrival"
Cons: "It was extremely cold in the plane (I was in row 32). Many passengers had the blue blanket wrapped around them even over their head"
Pros: "I was very comfortable in the new seats, I did not have to recline or move for over eight hours"
Cons: "still there is not enough legroom for tall persons"
Cons: "No food, no entertainment"
Pros: "Delayed flight arrived nearly on time."
Cons: "- Boarding process chaotic. Boarding began 20minutes after the scheduled delayed-boarding time without any notice. Gate seating area at CPH was far too small - very stuffy and standing room only. - Aircraft on its last leg. Most of the A340's seats had broken cupholders. Restrooms were out of paper/soap with no attention from crew. Overhead personal lights were either burnt or malfunctioning. - Lunch meal was decent. pre-landing meal is the same as the snack... some sort of dry and non-appealing wrap. - Crew did not perform passenger safety-check before takeoff and landing (seat backs raised up and seat belts fastened)."
Pros: "Crew very nice. More leg room in front of seats then most planes.. Plane on time ."
Cons: "Not many movie choices, Food was just ok. Do not put tomatoes on sandwiches ahead of time, it makes the bread wet and soggy."
Pros: "Because of bad weather at the Faroe Islands, the aircraft made a missed approach (go-around) on the first attempt to land. The weather had improved sufficiently to make it in on the second attempt. The pilot and the cabin crew were excellent in keeping everyone informed, and telling us the status of the weather and the likelihood of getting in. The pilot was outstanding in his communication with the passengers and the cabin crew were great in re-assuring passengers after the missed approach. The flight crew handled the difficult weather conditions very well."
Pros: "I mean, it was how a flight should be, painless."
Cons: "When trying to board in Copenhagen there were some mishaps, but these were mainly caused by people ignoring signs along the way. They did not offer any complimentary snacks at all. Only one drink"
Pros: "I booked through you and priceline. I chose the airfare that included the provision for one paid check through bag. was VERY careful to make sure I paid for this extra bag. When I got to the airport SAS said I had not paid for a ticket that included one checked through bag. I am very upset with this. Solution I will NEVER book through Kayak or priceline again..."
Cons: "my flight from stockholm was delayed and there was a massive queue at border control and no SAS or airport staff to organise to get PAX through faster so they dont miss their connection I had to fight my way through the queue otherwise I would have lost my connection"
Pros: "Great friendly staff. The delay we had going up in the air was caught up before we landed."
Cons: "The slight delay due to something not being able to lock."
Pros: "The pilots were excellent : smooth takeoff and landing. The plane seemed a bit shaky at times in the air; perhaps it was windy, although the skies were clear. Good food; good stewardesses. Entertainment had very good movie choices and games."
Cons: "The side lights never were turned off, so it was hard to go to sleep. On a long overseas flight, there should be some down time. It was dark outside part of the time, but never dark inside the plane. The leg room is also a bit cramped for tall people."
Cons: "to realise at the airport that they will charge me 70 EUR for one luggage for one way only is outrageous! it wasnt clear at all that there wasnt luggage included in the price of the ticket... all of my previous tickets bought via kayak and priceline were also with luggage included and we have understood the given price as including luggage! i find it very negative and very bad experience and feel robbed, this is not acceptable business approach. my suggestion is that you will refund me the extra cost for the luggage. thank you."
Cons: "I was charged 500 DKK (about $80) to check a single suitcase. I was assuming an allowance of one bag on an international flight - I guess I should have read the fine print. What was most annoying though is the fact that the bag didn't even make it to destination (on a direct flight, this is hard to accept)."
Pros: "Great crew. Clean plane. Good food. Entertainment kept us busy especially our 3 year old."
Cons: "I really enjoyed flying with SAS on my way to Stockholm but on my return flight back to DC it was dreadful. Boarding the plane in Stockholm was one of the most unorganized setups I've ever witnessed. Something so simple was made so complicated. Second, their seat recliners go so far back that you barely have space in front of you and can barely see your tv screen. On my previous flight I was in a row where there was no one in front of us so I didn't get to experience the recliner situation. Passengers on the plane were getting into fights. So bad."
Pros: "Staff seemed nice. Boarding didn't take too long even when I was selected for a random check."
Cons: "The air conditioning didn't go on until take off. There were no options for food. All alcoholic beverages were not complementary and priced too high. I got sick after eating the meal that was provided. i reserved a seat but at check in the computer assigned me a different seat number. I was flying with a family member and instead of sitting next to them I had to sit next to a stranger."
Cons: "Could not even PAY for an upgrade due to a meal request, even though I brought my own food - and would waive the meal request. Inedible vegetarian meals in flight. Earbuds didn't work. At least I had my own to use. Plane became stifling warm mid-way. Friendly flight crew does not make up for the terrible gate experience and inflight discomfort. SAS cares about profits not passengers. Plan to take another airline on future flights to Europe."
Cons: "sas online system needs to be overhauled and user friendly. one sas phone agent not helpful, called back and the agent was very helpful"
Pros: "It was quick. Can't rate food or entertainment as I didn't use"
Cons: "Seats v cramped and even w a window seat I was squashed by big man next to me. Lucky it was a short flight"
Pros: "Everything was great, food, blanket & pillow, movies, friendly service."
Cons: "The 3 hour delay for landing. Had a 2 hour drive home from the airport, hard to stay awake. So tired for work the next morning."
Pros: "The crew was amazing. The flight was easy and non-eventful. We felt like it was a good value for the money."
Cons: "The seats were a bit tight and close to each other!"
Cons: "Aircraft has TV equipment that is not functioning ,no phone chargers in the seats, dirty salon not even a snack!"
Cons: "No food or snacks :("
Pros: "Wait, what? Which flight did I review? You asked me about my flight to Minneapolis, but now you’re asking about Copenhagen to Reykjavik? Did I complain about the wrong flight?"
Cons: "This is a confusing review page. If you ask about my flight to Minneapolis, I think you mean Reykjavik to Minneapolis, but I think that was actually Tallinn to Copenhagen."
Pros: "Nice crew."
Cons: "Food selections horrible. And you need to pay for it. I got last piece of pizza and it tasted like it had been sitting there for a week. Drink cups were tiny. Movie options severely limited. WiFi never worked."
Pros: "The movie selection was good"
Cons: "Boarding could've been more organized. On a 6+ hour flight, a snack should be offered (gratis), and of course, there needs to be more leg room and more comfortable seats."
Pros: "Crew member were okay. Seat were not confer table"
Cons: "Would have been nice to serve some food since it was 5 hrs flight and good thing it has TV entertainment but the seat were so old and not comfortable. No ear phone or had to buy to use TV, i personally felt that they were just trying to make money in lit lit thing."
Cons: "To begin, the flight could've left on time. We departed late and arrived at ORD 90 minutes late. Overall, a negative experience with Icelandair as the outbound flight also had delay issues. Not a good first experience with this airline."
Pros: "I got home. Basic ok flight in today's no frills world."
Cons: "Rekjavik for a transit point has a pleasing aesthetic but is poorly designed for the number of passengers going through it. The flight was late so we had to hoof it, then wait as the next flight was late. Not sure Icelandair really has it down. But we made it."
Pros: "The crew was dynamic!"
Cons: "The seat was uncomfortable for me. Headrest was too high and tilted my head forward, resulting in a headache."
Pros: "The seats were great"
Cons: "The films were to old"
Pros: "The flight was smooth and on time. Crew was friendly and efficient."
Cons: "A 3-hour flight followed by a five-hour flight isn’t super comfortable but without paying for first class, it was as good as it could be."
Pros: "This is one of the best airlines I've ever flown. Very nice comfortable planes. Excellent air crew. Everything they do is at a high standard. What really sets them apart is the really great service. I had a problem with WOW air not honoring my ticket due to snow. I had to book at the airport on Iceland air last minute. They didn't have a gate agent who could sell me a ticket - so they sent a manager out from the back office to book us so we would not be stranded due to WOW's incompetence. Booked us just minutes before take off, escorted us through security and onto the plane. Start to finish less than 30 minutes. Amazing service. Their class of service is far above that of major carriers. Iceland Air works harder and makes sure everything is right."
Cons: "Airport too small and too many flights leaving from terminal at the same time. Stop promoting Icelandic and wow airlines if you don’t have the infrastructure. I will not return until they expand the terminal"
Pros: "We were extremely lucky and were upgraded. So no complaints. First class was . . . First class. Excellent service, seats, meals, etc."
Cons: "No complaints. Great flight and service. Thank you."
Cons: "The booking was too tight. We BARELY made our flight to Minneapolis and the airport in Rehkjavik is way too small for the number of flights coming in at the same time. We were in a winding, snakelike line for security that went on forever and then when we got through, the lines for the gates were mixed up, without proper seating areas and separation. People were in the wrong lines because it was too crowded to see where we should be. This is a POORLY run airport that needs significant expansion and improvement."
Pros: "Aircraft clean"
Cons: "They land you on tarmac and you have the board a bus to come to the terminal. This is a challenge because the temperature in Reykjavik ranges 40-50F and rains frequently. Challenging for passengers who are not in tip top physical shape, have arthritis , have balance problem ,are older etc. We are talking about people who don't need a wheelchair and can manage well at other airports. No information from crew about what what to expect on landing and about connections. Flight was late and it caused us a lot of stress. Airport not friendly and no information about immigration etc, Only people who are very fit should consider this flight with a transfer at Reykjavik No food served. The steward serving our section was friendly"
Pros: "Cost was good. We doubt we'll fly Icelandia again because of the poor service and the unprepared state of affairs in Reykjavik."
Cons: "The boarding on a connection in Reykjavic was the worst I've ever seen in my thousand flights. Customers were very upset wanted to break through the longest boarding line they'd ever seen. I was somewhat concerned for the potential of the passengers getting out of order. Safety became an issue as passengers began threatening to bust the line. "But, our flight leaves in 10 min." was heard again and again as we slowly meandered toward our plane for which we were over 30 min. late. Planes in Reykjavik were held up, though there was no weather problem, because of an overwhelming number of passengers trying to board their connecrtion. We were told this is common. On an eight hour flight we had little food available for purchase. After delivering the food we waited about an hour before the attendants came through to pick up the paper and boxes remaining from the food."
Pros: "The seats are wide with plenty of leg room. The crew was lovely and helpful."
Cons: "The boarding process is hectic as they neither organize the area into rows nor have boarding groups of any kind. the in flight entertainment has many options to choose from but my tv stopped working for about 30 minutes."
Pros: "Very accommodating to me when I was flying solo with my 15 mo. old."
Pros: "Ease of ticketing"
Cons: "Not allowed to bring a backpack as carry-on, waited a bit to board the plane. The flight was fine, nothing over the top. What I expected."
Pros: "Great Flight friendly professional flight crew."
Pros: "On time, crew was great, seats comfortable, and food was very good."
Cons: "Every time I have been to Reykjavik the boarding process is chaotic. Icelandair schedules flights all leaving about the same time in the same area of the airport that does not have enough room to begin with."
Pros: "We landed"
Cons: "Airport jam packed"
Pros: "Good movies selection"
Cons: "Food only for purchase"
Cons: "Iceland air should offer complimentary meals for overseas flights like our carriers United and Delta"
Pros: "Lots of options for the on board entertainment"
Cons: "Airport in Iceland cannot accommodate the number of passengers that fly through there. Long lines, no seats, standing for hours. I won't fly Icelandic air through Rejikyvik again. Also the plane departing from IAD to Iceland was old and uncomfortable. Overall, I feel that I had to run the gauntlet of discomfort and tedium before I could actually enjoy my trip----as if the suffering was part of the package. This airport impacts the flight itself. Now we are supposed to accept an hours delay without apology as if that's ok. Standing in line at the airport for two hours in Iceland just makes me commit to traveling less and becoming more selective in my choice of airlines."
Pros: "The flight itself was nice. Love the free WiFi and entertainment options. Icelandair is one of the most comfortable flights I have been on."
Cons: "I am very upset with how icelandair handled luggage for our layover. Our layover was and overnight, 17.5 hour layover. Not a single staff member told us they would be withholding our bags for the entire layover. Not at check in, not during boarding, not when we landed. We had to figure it out ourselves by asking the baggage info, to which they responded with "if you wait 2 hours maybe it will come on the carousel and you can take it." Mind you it is 1:30 in the morning and we had already waited for an hour, not knowing this was the answer. I am extremely disappointed that we could not access our bags and that not a single staff member told us our bags would not come. I've never had a problem with icelandair until now and I strongly hope this does not happen again to anyone else."
Pros: "Comfort, service, food."
Cons: "Passport control lines were too long."
Cons: "The airport was absolute chaos. No room to wait at the gate, poor communication, no info at the gate, late flights, people crammed into the bus for the plane. Seems the amount of travrlers has simply overwhelmed the airport staff and space. Hot cramped airplane and you have to pay for the most meager snack. By contrast, Jet Blue was spacious and comfortable. Unlikely to travel Icelandair in the future."
Pros: "The crew was nice and friendly"
Cons: "It was OK"
Pros: "There was a fantastic and extensive entertainment selection for international flights (including safe options for kids and a range of genres for adults). Variety of movies, selections of TV shows, music, audio books, and more. Make sure to bring your own headphones if you don't want to have to buy headphones. When the flight attendants of my first flight realized several of us were going to miss our connecting flights (after we kindly expressed concern while we waited to de-plane), they worked diligently to talk to four different outgoing flights and asked them to stall. To my knowledge we all made it on our connecting flights, though it delayed the flights for others whom had already boarded. It wasn't difficult to get additional water, which is important when in air for an extensive time."
Cons: "Based on all of my flights to / from in this journey on Iceland Air, they tend to lose time in air or have some sort of ground delay. That said, I would encourage buyers to select flights with at least a 2 hour stop over in Iceland to prevent stress, especially if you want a wider selection of food sonce the airport has more options and IA doesn't serve food for free on any of their U. S. To/From Europe flights."
Cons: "Delays. Shuttle buses. No free meal."
Pros: "In flight entertainment was great"
Cons: "I would prefer a free snack on the plane"
Pros: "The staff was friendly. Easy to check in. Comfortable seats. Included soft drinks."
Pros: "Flight attendants nice, helpful"
Pros: "They are working beyond capacity and it shows. Too many people in small placez."
Pros: "I was assigned to the back of the flight in between 2 mothers and 3 babies. I thought it was going to be a very long 3 hours. The plane was almost full. My flight attendant (I wish I had gotten his name) said that if there were any opening spots, he'd move me. I didn't think it was going to happen. But a couple of minutes before take off, he whispered in my ear to come with him. I was led to the front of the economy section. There was nobody next to me. The attendant definitely hooked me up. I got up so quickly that I forgot know candy in the back of the plane. Another flight attendant brought it up to me. I will definitely recommend Icelandair to people."
Cons: "The whole experience"
Pros: "Food was good, plane was clean"
Pros: "Smooth flight. Very comfortable."
Pros: "The airline crew was very nice."
Cons: "No food on the flight."
Pros: "Fast layover in Reyjkavik"
Cons: "Not enough seating at the gates."
Pros: "friendly crew members."
Cons: "i was seated in an exit row with no in-flight entertainment. seats a bit narrow."
Pros: "The plane was comfortable and the seats reclined"
Cons: "You have to pay for all food and drink and entertainment. So I brought my own food and water bottle, took an Ambien, and slept most of the flight"
Cons: "It was late and no explanation."
Pros: "In flight entertainment"
Cons: "Poor communication"
Pros: "Crew was friendly and helpful."
Cons: "Boarding was a free for all.... After premium seating, no order, lots of confusion with people stuck in the aisles."
