Cons: I dont know WHY Delta changed my flight with ALIITALIA, but, DON'T DO IT DELTA. The check in process took an hour, not talking about the line, the ACTUAL checkin at the counter. I couldn't complete my web checkin at the AliItalia web site. Landed in JFK, still sucks as an airport, nobody helps, nobody explains anything, very poor signs and instructions, Global Entry kiosk are hard to spot. My connection ticket didn't have the TSA/PRECHECK legend, went to AliItalia counter, the lady at AliItalia barely said anything when I asked for help with that, her immediate answer was to disengage and sent me to another terminal "to talk to Delta". She didn't explain or didn't want to give an explanation until I started to act as an already 9hr30min flight frustrated customer in a very old, very poor plane with poor food service. Again, I bought an over $1,000 ticket with DELTA, NOT ALIITALIA, if Delta send people with their "partners" at least make sure that they are taken care of properly.
Pros: Very kind associate working at the gate. She helped me obtain my seat assignment and was a pleasure to speak with. Her happiness was contagious (even at 6am!). She put me at ease.
Cons: The last travelers in boarding line (including myself) had to check their carry on luggage because “there was no more room in the overhead compartments”. However, while I was walking to my seat, I saw ample storage space as well as suitcases that were laying horizontally or flat and could easily have been adjusted to create even more space. Given that most people pack their most valuable items in their carry on bags (as well as anything fragile), I was a bit uneasy checking mine. The associate who helped check my bag on the tarmac was kind. I was grateful that my luggage had a hard shell case.

Cons: The flight attendants were uniformly rude and nasty to passengers from start to finish. As I boarded, I asked for a piece of art to be stored in the wardrobe compartment. This was treated as an inconvenience. During and after boarding, flight attendants addressed passengers rudely when encouraging them to take their seats in a timely fashion. Later, when my seat mate politely asked a FA to repeat the food options, she asked, "Excuse me?" several times and seemed very irritated to have to repeat the choices for him. Also, near the end of the flight, a pillow was on the ground and a FA asked those seated in my row to pick it up. We responded that it wasn't ours and she said something to the effect of, "Oh yeah? So how did it get there?" (Maybe because someone else dropped it and we didn't notice?) The FAs seemed irritated to serve passengers at all. Each time they passed through for beverage or meal service, I felt like I was imposing on them. I have never witnessed anything quite like it. Makes me wonder why they were all so upset and and felt it appropriate to speak and act disrespectfully toward customers. (Delta, do you have any insights?) I hope they all got a good night's rest after that haul.

Cons: Although we boarded on time, there was a wait of over 1.5h in the plane. First time in my life i was beyond uncomfortable. What i couldn't understand was why we had to be in the plane for the refueling. It makes more sense to wait in the airport at the gate rather in a tight confined place. I'm overall pissed at the situation. Not to mention my seat was defective and although the seat was up, it would push back the moment you put weight. Cons: Some of it was air canada, some of it was weather and some of it was the montreal airport. scheduled for 6:00 rescheduled 7:00 rescheduled 8:00 boarded 8:30 took off 10:00 1. air caanda - boarded the plane, then came on with announcement that we would be sitting on tarmac for an 1.5 hours. We were delayed for hour and half already, why load us and make us sit in a warm aircraft. Air Canada offered us 10.00 vouchers for dinner... problem was they did it so late nothing was open. It should have been done earlier. 2. weather - caused the initial problem in NYC, no fault of air canada. 3. Montreal airport - Our gates were switched 3 times during the delays. Which happens, however the gate changes started at one end of the airport, moved to the other end of the airport and back to the original end.

Cons: Flight cancelled without ever receiving any notice -- I found out when I was in the security line. Waited 1.5 hours to talk to an agent. On standby for 7 hours. No food vouchers. Air Canada agents gave very little information, didn't care at all that they had cancelled dozens of flights.

Cons: Boarding was slow and chaotic because of the number of passengers bringing oversize carry-on bags, presumably to try to avoid the checked-bag fee. The overhead bins filled up early, and passengers squabbled over the available space and objected when flight attendants told them they would have to gate-check their bags. The aisle was congested and blocked for long periods of time as people tried to fit their bags into the bin, and the plane left the gate more than 15 minutes late because of the slow boarding. There were about 100 people on the flight, but only about 20 at baggage claim (including at least two family groups), another indication that the checked-bag fee caused passengers to bring oversize carry-on bags. The overall rating for this flight would be significantly higher if it weren't for the boarding process.

Pros: They assigned me the last seat abutting the bathroom in the back of the plane. It was the smallest seat with zero leg room. The seat itself had zero cushion. And because the back of the seat is against the wall of the bathroom it could not be leaned back either. The entertainment screen is so close to my face I could not look at it directly. I was probably the only Black guy in there. I wonder how they found me that seat. It was a Nonstop flight, I will fly China Southern every chance I get because I just want to get from point A to point B. But, I'll be asking more questions about my seat assignment before accepting it.

Every boarding/unboarding has always been by bus, and we had to be exposed to the elements. Since we were traveling between two warm places, we were not prepared to be out in freezing weather. 2. Layover in CAN was terrible: It was too long (10 hours); Guangzhou Baiyun had NO HEAT and so was very cold, too few charging stations, and very spotty wi-fi. I could not use my credit card in at least one place. At a McDonalds (probably a knock-off actually), the cashier was quite rude, allowing native Chinese customers to cut in line in front of me and unapologetic with their "no-credit-cards" policy. Customer service personnel need better training in international relations.

Cons: We flew from NYC- JFK to Siem Reap Cambodia and back with the airline. On the way back I was unable to choose seats online prior to boarding. We were placed in Row 63, which is the LAST row on the plane and does not recline. For a 15 hour flight this seating should not be used. It is completely unreasonable to think people will be ok not reclining, and honestly the seats felt more straight up than the normal seats. After discussing it with the crew for half an hour on a full flight they were able to move us to other seats. But were unable to move us to business or first for a discount. End point: these seats should not be used! It was so miserable even thinking we might get stuck with them. And if they do stick people there you should be comped, that was not worth the same fare everyone else payed for coach.

Pros: Out of Guangzhou (CAN), the food was dreadful. They cannot make decent coffee, either! They did have UHT milk instead of powdered creamer for the coffee, so that was better than usual! Once the flight attendant rebooted my non-functioning entertainment system, it had quite a bit to offer.
Cons: Seated in the last row, so the seat would not recline so much as an inch. On such a long flight (something over 14 hours), a hard, cramped seat is difficult to endure. Aircraft was filled to bursting, not a single vacant seat. With so many people, boarding could be better organized. Not the most experienced or competent of pilots, either. Could not handle crosswinds landing at JFK, so it was a rather hairy landing, weaving down the runway.

Cons: Although our plane was at a gate and had the connector ramp attached, we were still required to "cram" into a bus for a 10 minute ride to the plane and entered by lots of stairs. You are not permitted use of phones even while in airplane mode with no explanation given. When we asked for water to be able to take necessary medications during the flight, we were told we had to wait a couple hours until the next beverage service but were offered tomato juice and another beverage. You are asked to prepare for landing 45 minutes prior to landing. I have never had to prepare for landing so early in a flight. Not necessarily a flight issue, but Guangzhou airport has a poor system for locating your connecting flights. There were 2 potential terminals and you had to walk to the beginning of either terminal to locate a flight information board. Then had to walk back to the other terminal if that was where your flight was located. Frustrating.

I had a long layover and they put us in a dump of a hotel too far from the airport to get back by myself, with no staff able to communicate with any English, no working internet, and not even a map. I had wanted to visit a nearby city and instead had to spend 19 hours in a bad hotel. They also confiscated my external battery from my checked luggage (my fault) but have provided no way for me to get it back unless I'm in China.
Cons: The flight was delayed for 1.5 hours, so I arrived at JFK,NY at 6:20am, with my flight to Baltimore at 7:59am. I have to go through Customs, then claim my baggages which took a while to come, then recheck the baggages which at that time 7am I was told was already late, but eventually took them when I told them my flight was delayed. After that, I have to go to screening with a long, long, long line of people. I finished at 7:45am, now I have to go to my gate B55, so starting from B18, I was both running and walking fast, asked 2x a staff if there's a faster way, but was told I have to walk through it. I heard overhead paging 3x final calls for my flight. I eventually made it a few minutes before the door closed, but I was really catching my breath when I finally sat on the plane. I hope this won't be experienced by anyone else, as it wasn't a good experience!!!

Ridiculous that it was "for security reasons," but I could pay more money (cost of an entirely different flight) to bypass the protocols. I ended up getting a ticket from United that cost less than what China Southern was asking me to pay to get onto the flight that I had already paid for... My takeaway from this is use websites like these to find airlines that are offering cheap flights and then just go to them directly to buy the tickets. Easier to deal with flight changes that way.

Pros: I had just suffered multiple breaks in my arm/shoulder and was returning to the States. I was in considerable pain and flying alone - this was the first flight out I could get. Everyone was AMAZING. From helping to rearrange seats, other passengers, and even upgrade to maximize comfort and minimize more damage to my arm to helping open any food packages so that I could eat with medication and checking in on me frequently, I couldn't have asked for better attention given the situation. I hadn't heard of this airline before but now highly recommend - they were amazing through two flight legs, two different airline crews, and 3 airports. Cannot thank the crew enough for their attention and care during a very difficult time. I am a frequent traveler and this is the best customer experience I've ever had.

Cons: I had a 13 hour layover in Guangzhou and was told a voucher was offered for a hotel and a meal. I figured with this layover I could possibly see the city while I waited but a damper was put in those plans. It took me 3 hours to figure out how to acquire the voucher due to not having any assistance from the staff or them not speaking English. The airline basically chose the hotel for me because it would have been another hour wait if I decided to change the hotel. Upon arrival at the hotel I met another passenger that had been in the city for 2 days back and forth to the airport because her connecting flight was late to Guangzhou and the airline had no space on the other flights. The wifi connection at the airport was poor and I was unable to use the food voucher at the time I arrived as it could only be used for breakfast. Their is no wifi offered on flight and the food was okay.

This made no sense as I had gotten off another flight on my way back home. No one at the airport in Shanghai was helpful and it was really frustrating to think that I would be stuck in China. I was finally able to track down a international supervisor who was able to print out my boarding passes and let me board my flight. Unfortunately, another family with small kids were dealing with the same issue as me only their flight was leaving in 30 mins. I hope they were able to make their flight.

Cons: After I missed my connecting flight because of delays in Bangkok, they wouldn't provide me with any food coupons while I wait 8 hours for my next flight. They offered a meal that they cooked in-house, but the wait to receive one was absurdly long and seemed rather dicey. This was confusing as they had provided me with a food coupon in Bangkok for the initial delay, so their customer service policy is rather confusing and comes down to how they feel in the moment. They really should have been more accommodating.

Cons: Ground crew needs work, the agent at check-in did not give us our boarding passes for the PVG-JFK flight and told me I could get it in Shanghai. Took almost 30 minutes just to get the boarding pass to wait another 30 minutes to go through passport control and another 20 minutes to go through security, we narrowly made our connection. In New York it took an hour and 15 minutes to get our bags... flew business class, our bags should have been towards the first half of the bags off the plane, our limo driver almost left because he had waited so long for us.

The lines were long and the layover was too short, I almost missed my flight on both layovers.

There was a whole group of us that were hauled off to a hotel for the night which had the worst heat everrrr. It was freezing! We slept in several layers of clothes. It was their fault we missed our connections. Our flight coming home got delayed again. Crew is rude and rarely even smile. Their ability to help you or explain things is poor. The plane is beautiful and actually comfortable though and they do feed you. The food was not bad.

Cons: Almost could not board my flight back home from Korea as China Eastern changed the departure time of my connection in Beijing by 20 min. After dealing with customer service for over an hour they let me board the flight I already paid for! Middle isle, middle seat at the back of the plane for 14 hours. 1st meal had a very fishy smell so many on the plane didn’t eat it. Someone was smoking in the bathroom too which added a nice smell to the cabin. 2nd meal was a bit better. My seat was pretty tight. (I am 6’2” 230 lbs) Every time I take China Eastern I think to myself never again, but every now and again I have no option. Customer service is almost non-existent if anything goes wrong. They are the only airline that I have issues with almost every booking.

Traveling with 4 kids by myself and having to do customs by myself without the time on the plane to work through the cards made it difficult. Also there was a typing error on one of my children's tickets that was an airline error but still requires a phone call from me and a fine to fix even with the plane leaving in one hour and having three other children at the gate waiting. There has to be an easier way to fix a mistake that happens in the airport.
Cons: Contacting China eastern airlines customer service was very painful. Accent differences being the major contributor for the cause. China eastern website was giving errors out most of the times while we tried to make seat reservations. Ultimately, the seats we reserved online were not given to us for both of our return flights. Special meals ordered was also not provided to us, stating that we were supposed to reconfirm the meals selection once again during check-in time, which I something we have never done in the past with any of the airlines; I did that for my last flight and bingo - I got the special meals for that flight alone. Anyone asking for special meal - please note this point; it doesn't harm to reconfirm though it sounds like an unnecessary step. Shanghai airport has very limited options for vegetarians. Kimchi noodles, Kimchi cake and Bibimbap were the only good options if you are a vegan. Landing was not good: As the flight had to wait for the runway allocation due to early arrival, flight was going in circles near the airport area, climbing up and down; vomiting sensation!!

Pros: CE has B777 to/from JFK which are up to date and comfortable. The biz class is similar to all others, lie flat and more than enough entertainment. The flight attendants are fantastic, always willing to do what ever they can.
Cons: Often you must deplane/board from the tarmac on connecting flights in PVG. Of course only an issue during in climate weather or if you have difficulty with steps. They are building another terminal so hopefully in a year or so all flights can board form the terminal.

Cons: It is my first time to take China Eastern Airline. My son and I had a round trip from New York to Zhengzhou (Connected at Shanghai). I had no problem for outbound trip from New York to Zhengzhou. But for inbound trip from Zhengzhou to New York, we missed the flight due to China Eastern Airline's very bad customer service. At the airport check in, we were told passport ID number did not match the Eastern Airline flight tickets passport ID number. The check in clerk let us to make changes at Eastern Airline counter. The guy from EA just changed my passport id but did not want to change my 7 years old son's ticket id. He was sitting there and did not care about anything. I told him we were going to miss the flight, he gave me a phone number 95530 to let me call EA in Shanghai. I called and EA in Shanghai said I should change at EA counter of the airport. Man, it's a nightmare. The guy updated my ID number on my ticket, but refuse to update my 7 year old son's ID number. So we had to reschedule to next day flight thru the China Eastern Airline USA. They charged $100! We finally got back to New York. They don't care we miss the flights and their customer Service Is VERY BAD

They are thieves, uncaring, and have the most ignorant customer service people in ANY industry. There were many horrors, but my time is valuable, so I will not go chapter and verse here. Cons: I had a layover in Kunming but was unable to check my bags all the way through to my destination, which was after the second flight. The plane landed 20 minutes late and then I had to go through baggage claim, check-in, get my 2nd boarding pass printed, re-check my bag, do customs, and security during my layover (1 hr 40 min) between flight. It was the most stressful flying experience I have had to date. Ended up running through the airport in Kunming, begging to jump lines in order to make the second flight, and catching the plane 5 minutes before takeoff. Luckily they allowed us to board even though it was so close to time. Very stressful experience.
Pros: Flight was extremely reasonably priced and the planes were new. The flights were on time and I felt like the take off and landings went quite smoothly.
Cons: The boarding process was a free for all - complete with pushing and shoving to get to the ticket checker. The food was abysmal and I got sick from it on the way to and from my destination - I would not recommend that ANYONE eat the food. The attendants were rude and did not have a grasp of English - lots of reaching over, using hand gestures instead of words. People were definitely smoking on the flight - at least three of the four flights I took and I'm not sure how the attendants didn't stop the smokers. These were also flights where there was a lot of uncovered coughing, hacking and uncovered sneezes in addition to unrelenting farting. Neighboring passengers did not practice personal space and constantly leaned over on myself and my friend.
Pros: China Eastern came in several hundred dollars less than the competition for our roundtrip international flights from NYC to Bangkok via Shanghai. Because of this, we were naturally a bit worried. China Eastern did not disappoint. Their check in process and boarding process is a bit lengthy; however, we boarded seamlessly and were able to be as comfortable as possible during our 15 hour flights. 3 meals were served in this time period, and a pillow and blanket and earphones were provided. There was never a long line for the toilets, and there was an ample selection of movies on the entertainment front. Overall, would use China Eastern again for our international travels to Asia.

Cons: China Eastern changed their flight twice: 1. 3/31/2017 MU 5078 the Orginal departure time was 20:55, but the actual departure time was 19:50; 2. 4/15/2017 MU 5077the Orginal departure time was 18:35, but the actual departure time was 17:19, and this made me to miss the flight on 4/15/2017. However, there was nobody informed me the flights were changed including KAYAK, I never get any email from KAYAK, this is really unaccepteble, and wasted my time to change flight.

Cons: I am a very frequent flyer. This is by far THE WORST company with THE WORST customer service. I'll skip the details of the flight itself. We are getting ready to sue this company in the United States for their outrageous behavior on our way back from Phuket. We bought 3 round trip tickets from New York to Phuket and back with an overlay in Shanghai. On our way back, at 2am, when all offices are closed, the China Eastern team refused to put us on our plane. They notified us that our tickets were canceled without a prior warning (no refund, by the way). They couldn't help us by, let's day, selling us the same tickets again, and they did not offer any other accommodations. The manager refused to share his supervisor's information and concealed his identity by turning over his badge. They only told us to call the hotline number on the reservation. The number did not work. As we didn't have anywhere to go at 2 am, we stood by the registration counter and kept asking how the company was going to help us get back home since we paid a lot of money and did not receive any prior notice or at least a refund. The manager called six security guards and ordered them to get us away from the counter. Because of the China Eastern despicable customer service, we ended up overpaying $3600 for 3 people, missing an important business meeting, and losing wages as a result of a missed day of work.
Pros: i enjoyed the amount of meals and beverages and soft blankets on long flights, offered a great range of games and movies.
Cons: the aisles were very small even for me and i'm considered petite and i had to shuffle sideways down them. many people and not enough restrooms, decent sized lines of people waiting to use the restrooms seemed a safety hazard.

Cons: Might flight was delayed by an hour, which was not too bad. We were kept waiting at the bottom of the stair, while standing on the runway at the plane. Were told flight was delayed do to wind, but we could see other flights taking off. Thought we were going to be taken back to the waiting area, but fortunately someone finally got the bright idea to let us just wait on board the plane. We all boarded and placed our carry on items overhead. Sat on the plane for about 40 minutes. Then an additional maybe 20 or 30 passengers boarded, who had not at the gate at boarding time. This was probably the REAL reason the flight was delayed.
Cons: They didn't let me in the plane, because I need a visa for transient China. I asked them before and they said no. I can't understand why you sell a ticket more than 24 transit when a visa is need it. And you don't specify tha
Pros: I bought this business class ticket because it was ~$300 cheaper and had a long layover in Shanghai allowing me to visit friends. Boarding process could have been more orderly, but normal chaos for an Asian flight. Seat itself was fine though certainly not the level of comfort you'd find in other airlines that I wouldn't consider to be luxury airlines. Think Delta vs. Emirates. On this spectrum, China Eastern keeps company with Southwest or Spirit except I don't think these airlines have upper cabins. The food was inedible; attendants did not come through with snacks in between and I basically subsisted on a beer diet and what snacks I Had in my carry-on from previous flights. All the movies had the English scrubbed which meant I could watch only if I wanted to watch a silent movie and read English subtitles as if it were the 20s. Cabin and crew were perfectly nice and I don't fault them for the airline's inadequacies.
Pros: Air china has the worst service I have ever ran across and I have been traveling for years! The changed my flight a week before my flight out and rescheduled it to miss my connection flight with them. I spent multiple hours on the phone on hold waiting to talk to an agent and they did not pick up. I emailed them.... no response. Finally I went to the airport and the told me the best they could do was get me to my destination 3 days later or I could buy another ticket. Then they lost my bags on the way back. I doubt I will ever get my money back from them despite the fact I spent an additional $200 to get to where I was flying... avoid them if you can and if another air line is a few extra bucks more it my be cheaper in the long run
Cons: Delayed an hour to board the flight, then delayed and sat on plane for hour and half before takeoff.
Cons: Just the passengers continuing on to Hangzhou were told to wait on the plane. Then after all the other passengers left, we were told to get off as well. Then we were told to stand and wait for at least 20 minutes, then routed through the airport to join the first group of passengers on the plane to go through immigration, where one of the immigration officers was yelling out us. Then we had to wait at least another 20 minutes before we were led to the check-in counter where we each person needed to get new boarding passes. This process took at least a half hour. Then we had to re-enter the regular security line to reboard our flight. When we landed in Hangzhou, this process was essentially repeated, except that this time we collected our checked bags and went through customs before having to go to the check-in counter, again, get a new boarding pass, again, and then go through regular security to continue the remaining leg of my flight. I've never seen such an inefficient transit procedure in my life!
Cons: Poor entertainment options. A 14-hour flight with limited movie choices and inability to use some electronics is not fun.
