Cons: "I have never sat in such terrible plane seats. First, there are FOUR seats but there are only THREE partitions at the bottom, meaning I had to share leg space and purse space with the stranger next to me. It's awkward enough sitting next to someone I don't know and having to worry about accidentally leaning on him when I fall asleep but having to constantly be in contact with his leg was very uncomfortable. I kind of got over it after awhile but I could tell the kid I was having leg time with was super uncomfortable since he would jerk his leg away every time it touched mine. Sorry to be harsh but I don't know how you're getting 9.0+ scores from the other customers. Yeah your flights are cheap but your seat options suck and the movies weren't good enough to make up for it. D+. You get what you pay for I suppose but your tix weren't that much different from the other more comfortable airlines."

Cons: "They just seem overworked and perhaps that is why they don't smile as much as I would expect. The movie selection going back to SF seem much less than going to Taipei. Selection seemed much more limiting. I wished there is a way to be more environmental with the plastic cups. Perhaps give everybody a re-useable cup in the beginning and we keep it throughout the flight. By the end of the flight, each person wasted at least 8-10 cups. That is a lot of waste."

Cons: "check in at SFO was chaotic on the outbound flight, and the guy at the counter really fought me on the price of my surfboard bag. he wanted to charge me $300, when it was really only $100 for the size of bag I had. I called ahead and made sure of the size limit for the $100 fee and even went and bought a new bag to hold my boards specifically to fit. Also, had to go to a separate counter and wait in a separate line to pay the fee, which took quite a while and seemed VERY unnecessary."

I'd like more leg room because I'm tall, but their seats are WAY better than USA based carriers. Food is pretty good considering it's airline food. EVA is one of my top choices for SE Asia Travel."

The seats were changed from adjacent seats to all aisle seats (NONE adjacent)! These seats include our 8 year old twins, the airline claims WE made the change, WHY would we have our 8 year olds sit by themselves for a 12hour flight from Asia??!! This is ridiculous! I do NOT believe the crew did their job to correct this situation and were quite accusatory about US being responsible for this obvious screw up! I am still not sure who changed our seats but it really makes me think twice about booking again through KAYAK or with EVA Airlines!"

I love it how they had Korean traditional foods and American foods for the choice! I had 2 free bags checked with 22kg for each which satisfied me. Also I brought 2 small carry on bags. The only thing is the English of some servers were not really good. Sometimes they didn't understand what customers said. But I think it is just fine"

Cons: "On both flights my party of 2 was split, despite an early check-in. We were lucky enough to swap seats because ANOTHER family was also split between us on the first flight. On the second, 3 parties were all split in the 3 rows in front of us, so we had to shuffle 4 different people before take off before the majority of the people were sat together. On 10 hour flights, generally I feel parties shouldn't be split unless they're checking in later than we did."

Cons: "It was very hot in the cabin. We were told that it was airline policy to keep the cabin that temperature. There is no way to adjust the temperature yourself. Also the chicken entrees should be avoided. If given the option chose the Korean meal."

My next flight with Asiana to the US from Korea encountered another problem and I was further delayed another two hours, with another two hour layover in LA. The cabin crew was friendly, but not very useful. They provided food, but no help. This is the worst Star Alliance airline I have ever flown. I will not be a returning customer."

Cons: "I found that unlike my SEA to Seoul flight, the staff on this 9 hour flight only brought drinks around during meal time; or you had to specifically call a staff member to get a drink. I really appreciated the first flight staff that took care to bring drinks around more often without needing to call on them. They seem very stingy with carry on items. Other than that, it was a very pleasant experience."

Cons: "Asiana Airline allowed a drunken passenger sit next to me. Everyone can smell and knew that he is drunken. The 1st thing he did after sitting was drinking alcohol from his pocket. Yes, one of the staff came to him and got the drink from him. But, he talked me for about 4hours nonstop and made me uncomfortable at all. Other passengers around me saw him because he talked too loud. I expected that they would offer me another sit and left him alone. During 10 hrs flight, I had 2 Tylenol capsules because of the smell of the alcohol from him. It was REALLY hard time for me to sit next to him during 10 hrs. DO NOT ALLOW A DRUNKEN PERSON TO GET ON A PLAIN FOR OTHERS."

There was also a huge gap of several hours when it seemed no staff came by for drinks, but there might be a chance that I just missed it. Also the display screen kept coming on, alone by just accidentally striking the switches on the armrest when moving. Not the best design, if this keeps happening."

Plane was late in arriving to Terminal 2; apparently had to offload in Terminal 1, then taxi to Terminal 2, then had to be inspected extensively before we could board. Pros: "The shuttle from terminals 3 to 2 could have been more organized. The sign says they leave every half hour, but they were waiting for 2 more passengers to arrive which made the wait almost an hour. Our flight was scheduled to board at 9:15 and they weren’t going to depart the shuttle until 9. We we’re panicked because we still needed to go through customs. They ended up leaving earlier after we talked to the reps for a bit. We made our fight but wow that was stressful."

Cons: "Flight was delayed. At least this time they sent me a notification via email. On the flight from SFO to Manila, the flight was cancelled and we had to be reaccommodated the next day and I wasn't even notified that that was going to happen."

Cons: "It was several hours delayed, they finally boarded us, then told us they were closing the airport. They kept us on the place for another 2.5 hours while they were trying to figure out what to do. By time they let us off the plane it was 3:30 AM. Took another 2.5 hours to get our baggage back and another 1.5 hours to get the flight refunded. I travel weekly, and this has been the worst airline experience I have had so far."

Then, after we boarded d at around 1AM, we were advised that the runways were due to close at 1:30 AM and negotiations were underway to extend runway operations so we could take off. We waited on the plane only to later learn that the flight was cancelled and we had to deplane! After more waiting at the gate in the terminal we were to hotels. We went to bed at around 4:45 AM, only to get a wake up call at 7 AM whilst we were not leaving the hotel until 11:00 AM for a 1:30 PM departure! Horrible! We ended up leaving even later, at around 2:30 PM. Throughout, communication from the company was abysmal. Never again Philippine Airlines for me !"

Cons: "This airline has been terrible to deal with. Before departing, they cancelled one leg of our trip, then waited a full month to rebook (only after weekly, sometimes more often, calls from us). We actually weren't sure if the flight was actually rebooked until we arrived at the airport and were able to check in. The food on all the flights was terrible. Dealing with customer service on the ground at the Manila airport was also terrible - they just kept saying they had to ask someone else who had to ask someone else, then changed the subject and did the same thing with an unrelated question until we got so fed up we left. It took 40 minutes for a bus to come to transfer us from terminal 1 to 2."

The app connected to the plane's Wifi but that when opened states it needs to connect to the plane's Wifi which it already is. This problem was also with my iPhone. Boarding was fine but could be more organized. People not in the current boarding group were allowed to board."

Cons: "It is my first time to take China Eastern Airline. My son and I had a round trip from New York to Zhengzhou (Connected at Shanghai). I had no problem for outbound trip from New York to Zhengzhou. But for inbound trip from Zhengzhou to New York, we missed the flight due to China Eastern Airline's very bad customer service. At the airport check in, we were told passport ID number did not match the Eastern Airline flight tickets passport ID number. The check in clerk let us to make changes at Eastern Airline counter. The guy from EA just changed my passport id but did not want to change my 7 years old son's ticket id. He was sitting there and did not care about anything. I told him we were going to miss the flight, he gave me a phone number 95530 to let me call EA in Shanghai. I called and EA in Shanghai said I should change at EA counter of the airport. Man, it's a nightmare. The guy updated my ID number on my ticket, but refuse to update my 7 year old son's ID number. So we had to reschedule to next day flight thru the China Eastern Airline USA. They charged $100! We finally got back to New York. They don't care we miss the flights and their customer Service Is VERY BAD"

The food was abysmal and I got sick from it on the way to and from my destination - I would not recommend that ANYONE eat the food. The attendants were rude and did not have a grasp of English - lots of reaching over, using hand gestures instead of words. People were definitely smoking on the flight - at least three of the four flights I took and I'm not sure how the attendants didn't stop the smokers. These were also flights where there was a lot of uncovered coughing, hacking and uncovered sneezes in addition to unrelenting farting. Neighboring passengers did not practice personal space and constantly leaned over on myself and my friend."

Pros: "China Eastern came in several hundred dollars less than the competition for our roundtrip international flights from NYC to Bangkok via Shanghai. Because of this, we were naturally a bit worried. China Eastern did not disappoint. Their check in process and boarding process is a bit lengthy; however, we boarded seamlessly and were able to be as comfortable as possible during our 15 hour flights. 3 meals were served in this time period, and a pillow and blanket and earphones were provided. There was never a long line for the toilets, and there was an ample selection of movies on the entertainment front. Overall, would use China Eastern again for our international travels to Asia."

Cons: "I am a very frequent flyer. This is by far THE WORST company with THE WORST customer service. I'll skip the details of the flight itself. We are getting ready to sue this company in the United States for their outrageous behavior on our way back from Phuket. We bought 3 round trip tickets from New York to Phuket and back with an overlay in Shanghai. On our way back, at 2am, when all offices are closed, the China Eastern team refused to put us on our plane. They notified us that our tickets were canceled without a prior warning (no refund, by the way). They couldn't help us by, let's day, selling us the same tickets again, and they did not offer any other accommodations. The manager refused to share his supervisor's information and concealed his identity by turning over his badge. They only told us to call the hotline number on the reservation. The number did not work. As we didn't have anywhere to go at 2 am, we stood by the registration counter and kept asking how the company was going to help us get back home since we paid a lot of money and did not receive any prior notice or at least a refund. The manager called six security guards and ordered them to get us away from the counter. Because of the China Eastern despicable customer service, we ended up overpaying $3600 for 3 people, missing an important business meeting, and losing wages as a result of a missed day of work."

Pros: "They changed my connecting flight for free! I had originally booked a long layover in Shanghai, and a few days beforehand changed my mind and wanted an earlier connection. They were very accommodating in changing my flight. Was actually shocked at how simple the process was. In addition, all the staff on the flight, a grueling 15-hour trip from Pudong to JFK, were polite and helpful the entire way."

Cons: "There was a smell of someone smoking 3 times during the flight. Several times, I would ask for something (for example salt), a crew member would say...I'll bring it right over...and then disappear, not even coming over to say whether they have it or not. The flight was uncomfortable, mainly due to the toddler sitting next to me who was extremely loud and kicking everyone's seats around her. When asked to move, the flight attendant did look if there were seats available but said everyone's free seats next to them had been occupied because people were asleep, stretched out on them. When asked if there were maybe seats in the business class, the attendant wouldn't even hear of it, claiming that that is not area and thus she won't even check. Lastly, the food on China Eastern airlines always leaves me feeling a bit off. Freshness is just not their forte. But what can I say, their flights ARE cheap, so you get what you pay for. All in all, a mediocre experience, at best."

Good thing ICN was one of the best airport terminal we have ever been to and able to pass time shopping and eating while we wait. But JFK was boring. Will avoid flying China Eastern again. Not dependable."

Pros: "After reading all the negative reviews on this airline, I was nervous to say the least, but was pleasantly surprised. The in flight entertainment was better than I thought. The food was also pretty good. Loved the fish dishes. Flight attendants are attentive and friendly. There was a 2hr delay on the flight to Shanghai, to compensate a bit, they offered everyone in the waiting area free water and snacks."

Cons: "I usually do not write reviews but I promised myself I would go out of my way so my experience will help others. I flew round trip to Japan via Shanghai. All four flights were delayed. The delays are not electronically updated, so don't expect to find out until you reach the gate and see a paper sign saying the flight is delayed. Shanghai airport is a nightmare. For some reason you have to go through complete security check for transferring flights, and the security check had a long, stagnant line both times I transferred. There is only one bag xray machine for everyone transferring flights."

Pros: "The plane was clean and relatively comfortable, boarding was quick and easy, and the in-flight entertainment was superb. This flight was on par with other long-haul or international flights as far as comfort, food quality, and cleanliness. This flight felt like a good value compared to other CEA flights."
Cons: "The carrier has problems with reliability and on-time departures. We were delayed over 4 hours, and from what I understand of CEA this is pretty typical."

Pros: "The flight itself was good. There were ample films on the entertainment system, and the flight attendants kept the seating area tidy by picking up small trash. They fed us well. The food was hot and well balanced. The menu items were very Chinese, and I appreciated the authenticity. They did not lose our luggage. Very responsible, reliable and trustworthy."
Cons: "We were not given an opportunity to pre select seats, and got middle settings. Provided by our height, this would have made our experience quite uncomfortable. Fortunately, we were able to find empty window seats to slide in. If the flight was full, this would have been impossible. We called the airline's customer service number numerous times before the scheduled flight, however, always were kept on hold for an available agent for an unreasonable amount of time (at least 20 min each) and never got to talk to anyone. Music kept playing."

Air ticket price I bought was almost half of what I pay for other major airlines, I would travel with China Eastern again."

Cons: "I had to wait at shanghai airport for about 12 hours to make a transfer to New York. I thought I could do it without any problem since most airports provide a free access to wifi. The airport does have an free wifi access, but you need to have a Chinese cell phone to obtain a wifi code. Without the code(provided though your cell phone) there would be no wifi access. I contacted several staffs from China Eastern airline and the airport for this code, and was told it is impossible. Image how I spend my time there for 12 hours. That was really terrible. It would be my last transfer at Shanghai in any of my future trips to China."
