We left very late due to a problem with the flaps warning light (??). Would rather have left late after thoroughly checking it out than take a chance - good for you, Alaska! Pilot took advantage of a tailwind and we got to SeaTac in 1 hr 50 min (I think this is pretty spectacular). Enough room in overhead bins. Great job. Pilots and stews all smiled at me and said thanks and said goodbye when I left the plane (this is more important than you would think - first and last impressions are lasting). Boeing 737s rock. The little extensions on the wings rock too."
Cons: "Typical airline stuff. Small seats. Bad elbow room in middle seat. I'm an "Emperor's new clothes" kind of guy. I won't ignore these things and pretend it's all okay, just because we all do. You probably can't do anything, cost-wise, about this. Fair enough. But my main complaint is that I had a ticket for a much later flight (leaving 6:30). I knew I was done with my business the previous day and tried to change my flight online and by phone the previous day. Changing flights by either of these channels would have cost me a minimum of an extra $238. Not worth it to me since the round trip was only $180, so I stayed. But going to the airport early and getting past TSA and going to the actual gate allowed an Alaska rep to change my flight there at the airport for $25 (This was actually a tip from my wife). In the year 2017, with the internet and cell phones, this situation is ridiculous! Why should I have not been able to do this from my hotel the day before and leave even earlier? As a company, you recognize the good will that having your crew and stews smile at people and say goodbye builds with your customers. Why would you allow this situation to continue? When traveling by air, convenience is everything. Get the information systems in place that allow you to accommodate this kind of change from either the website or the phone. If you need help with it, call me. I teach IT at the UW in Tacoma and I can put some of my seniors on the problem (whatever it is) and come up with a solution. Pros: "Alaska Air is a breath of fresh air in light of the recent problems with United and American Airlines! The attendants were not weary, bored, angry, absent, arrogant or any of those off-putting attitudes. Out of SFO to PDX, one sparkling voice announced: Well folks, let's get this party started!", which brought chuckles ruffling througth the cabin! And, ipso facto, there was a party atmosphere from takeoff to landing at PDX. Her attitude set the tone through some bumpy spring weather. Another her 'day' started at 2am from somewhere before SLC. This was a woman who was so outside the norm for her here-to-fore perceived position that she didn't feel the need to perform her duties with a stoic, reserved, stick-in-the-mud presentation, that I was immediately drawn to her and we had great repartee! Lynne Ledingham, flight 743G SLC-PDX. BTW, my Alaska vacay started at PDX two weeks earlier on a flight to SLC, so I flew Alaska all the disjointed way! I will always choose Alaska in the future and have told everyone I know that Alaska is a very bright light in the travel industry and I hope it never goes out!"

Maybe TSA should set a limit on the number of packages/bags/etc. that people can carry through security. Just a thought."

Cons: "We had delays getting on as the line boarding the plane was backed up. Once on the plane we sat for an hour without pulling away and were told the paperwork was not completed correctly and then they said they had too much weight on plane and offered 7 people $400 vouchers to take a much later flight. When not many takers the pilot or copilot in a threatening voice said well if we don't get enough people to get off then 40 bags would be left behind and arrive a day later! So a few got off. We all ended up having to get off after an hour and wait for another plane as ours had a mechanical problem the entire time and they didn't tell us that to begin with. So instead of leaving Seattle at 1:55we left over 3 hours later and didn't arrive in DC at 10:00pm but arrived at 12:30 am! That forced us to have to pay for a cab to Virginia as my pregnant daughter couldn't leave her sleeping 3 yr old home alone to pick us up."

You don't have to keep thanking the passengers throughout the flight. And the volume through your headset is way too loud on crew announcements compared to regular listening volume of your program."

Cons: "Seated in the rear middle seat. I had no options to select a seat when I checked in or made my reservation that wasn't an extra charge. I'mover 6' tall and middle seats are painful, especially cross country. Airlines need to be a little more attentive to their customers' needs. If a passenger is taller than average, and the flight is more than 60 minutes, provide comfortable seating at no extra charge. If a customer has a short layover, which their system knows about since it is the sourve of the flight plans, put the customer toward the front of the aircraft since these flights are habitually late and customers end up having to sprint through airports to try to make connections."
Pros: "The Delta crew on the flight was wonderful - but the crew at ATL really shined. A huge amount of people for connections arrived at the same time and needed to get through customs and the staff were very calm and efficient in directing everyone and making sure the line moved."
Cons: "The new boarding pillars with Priority, Sky, Zone 1, Zone 2, etc was a mess. In concept it should be a good process, but it was just a sea of people asking each other which boarding group they were in. Going back to asking those who are in a particular boarding zone to form a line and doing so each zone at a time seems like a smoother process."

Much time was wasted and I had to reschedule my flight. The staff members that booked my hotel and my new flight were short and brief and not very helpful or accommodating or informative. Overall I didn’t not feel like a welcomed guest and I do not feel enough compensation was offered for such an inconvenience. Not being able to have my bag overnight was a hassle. I had no clean clothes and had to throw out my contacts because I had no solution. I also couldn’t use the meal voucher they gave me because everywhere in the airport was closed by that time. No stipend was given for toiletries or food delivery. Very unimpressed."

Compared to security staff overseas, the U.S. rates the lowest of the 55+ countries I've visited. It does not reflect badly on American Airlines, but it does give travelers a bad lasting impression. As an American, I'm embarrassed by their behavior."

The biggest issue I have is that invariably when I fly American, if I go through Charlotte, is on the whole inconvenient. It takes way to Long to get to a gate when you land. And while everyone is apologetic, I would prefer they didn't have to be."

Cons: "seat and monitor seemed to have minds of their own, but only caused a minor inconvenience I'm frustrated with AA's information on movies, which is questionable and unrealable. For example, the recently released film 'Coco' was listed as PG-13 and not included in the "Disney" category. "Justice League" was listed as R. There are several other examples of misinformation in their movie listings. For parents who use the ratings as one piece of information to guide their children, it would be nice to have correct information when making selections. this problem is not new; it's been this way for over a year now. I hoped that over time they would get it right, but alas, it remains inconsistent at best."

Of course, no flights back to US so I was stuck an extra day, completely messed up school and work. I THOUGHT I was booking with Iberia but it was a code share. I WILL NEVER fly American Airlines again!"

Cons: "The organization with American Airlines at Charles de Gaulle was absolutely pathetic. I understand it's a busy airport, but NONE of the other airlines had lines like American did. Then by the time you get up to an American airline employee, incompetence was written all over their faces. The straw that broke the camel's back was that they insisted on separating my partner and me while doing security questions, meanwhile other parties who were together were not separated (LGBT discrimination). This pushed us back 10 minutes--we were separated and he was having to wait for me after the questioning to get my bag checked, too. I'll add that we arrived to the airport with over 2 hours to spare before our flight which should have been more than enough time. We probably would have missed the flight if not for a few decent Charles de Gaulle employees who bumped us though lines at customs when they realized the time crunch, no thanks to anyone with American Airlines. I heard so many saying they will not use American Airlines again, and how saving a few dollars was not worth the headache. Flying is already stressful enough, don't make it that much worse."

While others may not have noticed or said something, she went out of her way to make sure the item got to its owner. It is little things like this that make life a little better."
