Somehow as soon as you are flying domestic on a slightly shorter flight American Airlines thinks its okay to treat customers like garbage-nothing but some sad pretzels and 2 rounds of drink service was provided for a 6 hour flight. The seats were super uncomfortable with no head rest, no personal entertainment devices were provided, and there was no general entertainment for the whole plane-seriously I've never been so bored. I would have fallen asleep from boredom but the seat was too uncomfortable so I couldn't even do that. The plane landed in Seattle but sat without unloading passengers for 20 minutes because the gate crew wasn't ready. We didn't get our checked baggage for over an hour after landing. When asked, customer service reps said that the S gate was far from baggage claim-seriously I'm not sure how that is a reasonable excuse. Other airlines arrive into S gates and have timely baggage claim service. American Airlines has no standard for timely baggage claim service like other airlines (Alaska) so there were no repercussions for such late baggage service. We left the airport with our luggage over 90 minutes after the plane landed. The entire experience is just another example of American Airlines of why the terrorists won't even fly American Airlines. I was seriously disappointed to find out that the British Airways flights we booked were operated by American instead of BA crews. I seriously will never select this option (or fly American) again if I can help it."

Cons: "Charlotte to Seattle flight: The food served in first class smelled awful. Seated in premium seating just behind first class was unfortunate due to the atrocious odor that lasted for 3+hours. There was no option for food service for the rest of the plane. Which was unfortunate as I was very hungry. Due to inconsistent notification that the plane was delayed / on-time (kept switching the notification) we opted to not get dinner in the airport..... To which the plane was was an hour late yet we were told to check in every ten minutes to see if we were boarding. There were no blankets. The plane was incredibly cold. The suggestion I received from the flight staff was to turn off the vent above my head (which I had already done.) I had brought a jacket and was wearing pants. On a 5.5 hour flight, the crew served beverages 45 minutes into the flight (per usual) and handed out a pretzel pack. They didn't come back through with water or beverages again. On other airlines, they promote water at least once an hour to keep swelling and dehydration down. Since I am a pretty frequent flier, I bring my own water. Still, coffee would have been nice. Suggestions: increase beverage service to at least twice / 5.5 hour flight and provide blankets upon request. Food choices and entertainment would also be good. Don't cook stinky dinners in first class and allow it to pollute the rest of the plane."

Because I never could get it in, my computer and phone wouldn't work. So I figured I would purchase one of the entertaining units but none was offered. It made for a very long flight. When leaving the plane, the other crew members were very helpful and even the wheel chair attending me was a delight. I was on flight 1977 from Houston to Seattle on November 7th. I usually fly twice a month for business. After my ordeal, I will use other airlines."

Passengers had no idea what to do - whether another plane would be sent for us, whether United would reimburse our ticket if we arranged another flight on our own, etc. We were left to fend for ourselves. I had a wedding to get to with many pre-wedding events, starting this evening. So, I looked for another flight, found one, booked it, and went to United customer service to request reimbursement for my ticket. I was told that United had just learned that another plane was coming for us and would arrive in 30 minutes, at 8:10. (My original flight had been at 6:35). The other flight I had booked was at 10:30 pm. So, United customer service changed canceled my new booking and put me back to my original flight, now arriving at 8:10 and boarding at 8:50. The plane did arrive, but we did not board until 10:50 pm. My flight left at 11:02 pm. Bottom line is that my flight was delayed 4.5 hours. I missed an important event that I was supposed to host. I missed my only opportunity to see a dear friend (and guest of honor) - this is someone I have not seen in person for ten years and was the guest of honor at tonight's celebration that I was supposed to host and missed. Furthermire, I could not carry on a bag that I have carried on for years, and that would have easiky fit. Having to check my bag left me without my phone charger. Of course, the fact that we were 4.5 hours delayed meant that I ran out of power shortly into our long flight from Washington. to Seattle. And the food was awful - stale nuts, . ;, b:;"

The crew has never gone out of their way to assist me without an eye roll. Every flight I've been on has gum and other unidentifiable piles mashed into the carpet. Obviously, there is no wi-fi or other entertainment option, because the airline is archaic. The money that you might think you're initially saving by booking on this budget airline is not worth it. No inflight entertainment of any kind. During the flight, I got up and went to the front to use the bathroom (which I KNEW was empty) and the staff directed me to use the ones in back. Why? And they never reduced the cabin pressure on the descent! The cabin was still completely pressurized for the higher altitudes well after we touched down. This feels like such an amateur mistake that simply isn't acceptable."

Well, they aren’t going to read themselves. Either try, or spell it out. Or call out confirmation numbers. Eventually they got them mixed up, gave up, and asked us to come up 1 at a time so they could find ours."

On my return The Spirit website did not indicate gate changes as the gate changes. I prechecked this time, 3 hours early and the plane departed 40 min before departure. The screens at kiosk did not indicate changes to flight time or gate change. I wasn’t even called!!! I missed my flight. The staff gave no help for hotel or shuttle. I was to sleep 12 hours for n Next plane and my bag was on first plane. My original flight of $249 to Vegas was $349. Plus hotel 129 plus $40 for extra night stay and Uber."

When the flight landed the entire family talked loudly about pushing their way off the plane to get to another flight, little did they know others had connecting flights to reach as well. Poor behavior & left to make others have a worse flight"

Cons: "When we flew in from Montego Bay to Fort Lauderdale and we had to go through customs; no flight member told us that we had to get our bags from baggage to take through customs with us and then if you had a connecting flight, that you would need to re-check your baggage and go through TSA again. Also, we were not informed that if we had duty-free liquids to put them in your baggage that you would have to re-check. Needless to say, I had to find a box to put my duty-free liquids in to have checked at the ticket counter before I was able to go through TSA. It was a terrible flying experience and I will not be flying with Spirit airlines again."

Pros: "we had a safe flight, no major issues, and were able to get off the plane quickly."
Cons: "I had to pay $97 to check my bag...kinda defeats the purpose of booking a cheap flight. This was by far the smallest seating space I've ever had...I'm 5'9 so normally I don't have an issue with this but my knees were about an inch away from the seat in front of me and I had no space to move around. The headrests were hard as a rock, and I could feel a metal bar in the middle of the seat poking out at my back. The seats don't go back, there was no entertainment whatsoever, not even a magazine to read. The main lights were left on during the 4.5 hour nighttime flight. There was not even a complimentary cup of water...$3 for water. It was also freezing in the plane and there was a 2 hour delay for no apparent reason. Look up the fees they charge for everything before you book with Spirit."
Cons: "Every thing"
Pros: "Boarding was seamless and fast. We arrived early with no trouble. I sat in an exit row and at 6'2 had PLENTY of room."
Cons: "The only complaint I had was that the flight attendants were a little snippy, but it wasn't anything to serious."

Cons: "The flight was delayed 2 hours. Then after boarding the sink ceased working. The plane seemed to come from a developing country. There were way more noises than I have ever heard on a plane. Multiple unusual clunks as the landing gear was being deployed. Then on the land I heard unusual stress on the wings. I have been flying 2-3 times a year for the past 10 years, and this was the worst plane experience. The seats were terribly uncomfortable. I felt like I was strapped to a set of bricks, flying on the wright brothers plane."
Pros: "Can't say I liked anything because I never got on my flight."
Cons: "Five other people and I were unable to board our flight from las vegas to seattle because we received numerous notifications that our flight was delayed, and we were all sitting at the gate at least and hour, one group 3 hours before departure, and did not hear the announcement for boarding because the flight decided to leave 30minutes earlier than we were told. When I went to check in, the plane was still attached, but the attendant would not let me on the flight. Further, this airline does not accommodate for arrangements since the next flight isn't until the next day, and the next flight the day after that. Missing this flight would not be so frustrating, had this airline not only had one flight per day, and we're on standby, we don't know if we will be able to board, we may be stranded for days. So moral of the story, you get what you pay for, and I'm now willing to pay and extra $100 for a more reliable airline so i don't get charged for every little thing and receive better service. This is not the staff's fault; they were all very friendly, this is a corporate issue."

Cons: "I spoke with a customer service rep and requested to cancel round trip from Seattle to Las Vegas; I was told that they had to be cancelled separately, so I did this and was told that both were cancelled and because I had called in a timely manner I would not be charged. This transaction was friendly and helpful; however, apparently not completed accurately. Three weeks later: Only my one trip TO Vegas was cancelled; my return flight home was not. When I again called Spirit, Jenki (sp?) answered the phone and told me I hadn't cancelled in enough time and would be charged for the trip and could not cancel the return leg home. I protested and was told they would review my phone conversation. They did not call me back, but I will be calling again later today to see if I can get credit (although I don't want to use them again in any case). Very disappointed with the service."
Pros: "Got upgraded to larger, exit row seat for free."
Cons: "I like that Spirit offers low flight costs, but of course it's all made up by the crazy baggage fees, for-purchase only snacks and drink, etc. I know you won't change your business model because it's making you very popular and rich, but it is a rip off."

Cons: "The flight attendants spent their time making fun of guests (passengers), not once did they smile, and were very rude to multiple people."

The Spirit airlines customer experience lacks even the most minimal amenities--not to mention jacking customers with ridiculously exorbitant baggage fees!"

Cons: "I thought I was getting a good deal, but then any bag you take with you, carry on or not, costs $45. EACH WAY! So what we thought were $93 tickets were really $173 if we brought a carry on. Who doesn't bring at least a carry on. Oh, and by the way, if you don't understand that carryon costs extra, they extort you in form of a $100 fee per bag at the gate. They know they have you because you're about to board the plane, so why not extort money out of you. Then the seats don't recline, and thank God they don't because your knees are smashed into the seat in front you. I'm 6'3", which is a little tall, but i totally don't fit in these seats. VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. Then there is the endless nickel and dime'ing for everything: do you want a credit card, do you want to choose your seats? Oh that'd be $5 extra. Do you want to board first for $10, etc. etc. On the plus side, the flight attendants were at least funny and tried to make people laugh."
Cons: "Fees. Fees. Fees. Smallest seats I've ever seen. Additional charge for a seat with an actual tray table or room for adults. Felt like sitting in a child's play table. Fees for luggage and carry on. Check in woman tried to charge us for the person befores luggage. Seats were double book on flights. Multiple people with same seat number. Will never fly them again."
Cons: "This is the worst airline ever. Untop of the crappy planes, they don't serve you complimentary drink you have to pay for literally everything even a cup of water. We didn't know that you have to pay a fee for a carry on bag and charged us 100$ even though it was small and fit the length criteria. Their crew are very rude and don't give a hoot about how you feel"

Cons: "Had never flown Spirit before. First AND LAST experience. Don't care that they call themselves no frills. Their customer service is pathetic. Had to wait at the airport for 25 minutes for any Spirit employee to show up at the ticket counter to check my bag. By that time there were about 50 people waiting for help. Even other airline employees and TSA employees didn't know why they weren't there. Also called customer service to have my KTN (pre-check #) added because I couldn't put it in when I booked the flight. Even though he told me he would put it in- he didn't. So NO precheck for me. The seats in the plane are beyond uncomfortable. Like sitting on a hard straight chair -no padding. Charging for carry ons? Really? Checking my bag was cheaper than carrying it on and it's a SMALL suitcase seriously. Do NOT be fooled by the low prices listed. They are deceiving!!! Just trying to give a real review here folks. Not being overly dramatic."

Cons: "Refused to let me get a boarding pass; even with plenty of time to get through security and to my gate. I was literally there 48 min early as opposed to 45 min and could see through the empty security facility to my gate and they still would not let me go. I had to wait 13 hours for another flight because they are so terrible, no other airline partners with them. They charge for absolutely everything. They as a whole were super disorganized. Flight attendant was obnoxious and clearly drunk. The lines for the counter were chaos and the wait was absurd; 1 hour +. My suitcase came back to me absolutely filthy and runed. Overall, the most horrible travel experience I have ever had. Pay the extra ten bucks (that's what they charge for water anyway) and fly any other airline."
Cons: "$52 to check bags, and bags can not weight over 40 punds. no assign seating unless you pay and additional fee. Over all the initial low cost of the boarding pass is vastly off set by the additional cost in service sfees like baggage check."
