This ridiculous airline and it's rude, obnoxious staff in Chengdu made a mockery of my friend and I (two 21 year old American girls traveling alone). We had booked round trip tickets back in October 2017 that included a 1 hour layover in Chengdu first, then a 7 hour layover in Shanghai on our way to Bangkok for a trip in Thailand. That was fine with us. Then all of a sudden it changed to a 6 hour layover in Chengdu then an 18 HOUR layover in Shanghai. We decided to deal with it and get a hotel room in Shanghai, no big deal. After a great trip in Thailand and leaving fine from Bangkok to our first layover in Chengdu, that is where the nightmare started. First off, going through Chengdu customs, I don't know if it is because Americans do not travel through there a lot, but the officers pulled us aside and were passing around our American passports around their staff, taking pictures of them with Iphones before handing us "in-transit" paperwork to fill out. As weird as that was, no one really seemed to speak english and we just wanted to get away from them and get through. When we went to the check in counter, they handed me a boarding pass for our flight at 1:50 that afternoon, but then proceeded to tell my friend that she wasn't on a flight until the next morning at 7 am out of Chengdu and our original connecting flight out of Shanghai at 11:50 the next morning was now at 8 pm for her. What could have been simply fixed like it WAS after calling priceline and our travel agent, the staff at the ticket counter and a representative over the phone made our lives living hell. They barely spoke english and the ones that did were very rude to us, saying that they couldn't help us and put us on the phone with China Eastern. FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF we were on the phone with a representative who was talking us in circles, telling us that there were no available seats on the 1:50 and that he could get her on the next 3:45 out of Chengdu, then put us on hold to come back and say he couldn't only change 1 domestic flight in China, but would have to cancel her flight to NY. When offering to pay to just DO IT and get out of china, he said that if he were to cancel it and take our credit card info, it "may or may not go through" and if it didn't she would be stuck with no flights. When asked how that made any sense, he proceeds to say" Because miss, our system sucks," and other rude things like "Why can't you just keep your flight and meet your friend in NY." then him along with a rude ticket counter guy say that he could help us if we took 5,000 yuan out of the bank and paid them cash. TRYING TO SCAM US. After all this drama a simple call to priceline was able to fix the problem no payment involved, and there WERE available seats on all the flights and a domestic flight could be changed. LYING, SCAMMING, RUDE, individuals. Definitely worth a little more money to take any other airline BUT THIS ONE.

No entertainment, not even an English language newspaper. Delayed boarding and departure, as usual.
A-380 seems to be significantly quieter than the 777.
Extra leg room in emergency exit row They actually played a movie that was in English. Not the first time I have flown China Southern, but the first time I had air control above. This is something I feel makes flight a bit more comfortable.
Food is terrible. They ran out of wine during first beverage service. Exit row passengers are not permitted to keep items under seat. Flight was delayed at take off and perhaps in route because we were over an hour off of schedule. Aircraft always had a line for the bathroom, two is not enough for amount of people and duration of flight. I do not know if there was bathroom in front, it was sectioned off.
I couldn't catch this flight because the previous connecting flight was canceled.

no jet away at deplane. Stairs are clumsy
The flight almost landed in Bahrain but the captain decides not to and the excuse was bad weather. So he just turned around and went back to Abu Dhabi. There was no plane for people to board Abu Dhabi and were left stranded. Thankfully the airport staff re-booked everyone immediately and dealt with the situation efficiently in a professional way. I was delayed by at least 8 hours. There was no email from Etihad about the canceled flight or an apology. It was a bit disappointing given that they are my favorite airline.

Nothing really. I am not gonna fly Cathay next time. Would like to have a wifi.

Good entertainment choices, but the system itself was awkward and slow to respond.
The 777 was tired. Tray tables weren’t clean and it was fitted with seats that did not recline. Most uncomfortable!
the person in front of me just laid down his seat for almost entire flight which made me to have no rooms people are switching seats without letting flight attendants to know. This is not fair for other customers
