It's no surprise that Alaska Airlines is having problems with flight cancellations and delays right now. (Though, I didn't know that when I booked the tickets.) However, the late notice for changes is infuriating. While I was riding into the airport, I got the notice that my flight was delayed by an hour. Half an hour after the delayed boarding was set to begin, we were told the plane would land in 7 minutes. The plane actually arrived about 30 minutes later. I don't get how you miss by that much, as 7 minutes out means the plane is already on final approach. We finally got on the plane, and were told there was a small maintenance issue being taken care of, and we'd be off in like 5 minutes. 15 minutes later, we were still sitting there with no updates. In the grand scheme of things, they got me home just a couple of hours late. The lack of communication just left a bad taste in my mouth.

Alaskan Airlines try to grab money from you at every opportunity. Staff were rude up until onboard. The onboard crew were lovely. Definitely don't waste money on "first class" its an absolute joke. Seats hardly better, no access to lounge, no access to wifi and food isn't worth the fare.

The WiFi on the plane didn’t work despite them having 100s of movies and shows that would’ve been really great to watch.

The flight attendant was complaining during the drink service and she said she was going to fix it, but apparently the issue couldn’t be remedied because it never changed. Other than that, the flight was pretty good. The plane didn’t have TVs, which is so nice when flying with a child, so it would have been great to have some in flight screens."

Once aboard a predicted snow storm started (in Seattle so not the first time this has happened) and we had to de-ice. This process was exceptionally long, in fact so long that we had to add fuel for the trip. These two delays conveniently “timed out” the pilots, brilliant! Total delay was over 4 hours, all to be blamed on their ineptitude. Seems like the norm for airlines these days but this was blatant mismanagement."

Cons: "On my return flight it seemed that the attendants were trying to stop anyone other than the 19 or 20 people in first class from using the forward bathroom. On my flight out, the cabin was asked to "wait at row 6" for the bathroom to be free. That seemed reasonable, even though I was in row 6, and fair to ask. However, on my return flight they seemed to expect the entire rest of the plane to use the rear bathroom. That doesn't seem right."

Though I didn't take advantage of the in flight entertainment option of using a personal tablet, I thought that was an awesome idea. I'm interested in checking that out in the future. I'm not extraordinarily tall but the seat stopped just above my neck and felt like a hard, sharp surface rather than something soft and padded. And, of course, there's not enough leg room. Especially once the person in front of you leans back. I don't mean to sound petty but it felt like the airline was more worried about maximizing profits at the expense of their guest's comfort."

I saw people take someone else's seat on the way to Portland, but the original person asked them to move. Guess it's a common thing"

The plane was gross. Everything seemed dirty and had black smudges all over it. The plane was older and areas where paint had chipped off (on arm rests or interior panels) was repainted poorly. I don’t expect aircraft to be pristine but I was kind of surprised this one was still in service. The rest of the flight was fine. The plane was just yuck. Thank god they gave us wet wipes when boarding.

It left on time and arrived a few minutes early. The whole process of checking in, seating (got my upgrade thankfully!), and the meals (superb multi-grain healthy salad) were great. It arrived on time (actually a few minutes early). American continue to keep up its promise of customer service. I love being part of the American traveller family.

Pros: "My flight was canceled and I don't know when or how much I will be refunded. The flight was canceled due to "maintenance" and they booked me on a new flight...for 16 hours later on the NEXT DAY. That was not acceptable for me and my travel companion since we have work today. There were no other flights and rental cars were scarce. I was able to book us tickets on a bus, and incurred costs for the bus tickets and the transportation to the bus stop. I want to be compensated for those costs AND refunded for the price of the ticket."

Once I got back to Austin, my husband had to drive all the way out to the airport to retrieve my bag because they were not able to give it to me in Dallas. It was a huge inconvenience all around."

It seemed clear that we would not make our connecting flights, which messes everything up with covid tests, quarantine, and all the many restrictions that airlines have insisted without thinking about the consequences. I tried to share my concern with the agent at American Airlines, knowing that it would probably be better to rebook and start all over for the following week or something. But his limited perspective, condescending attitude, and egotistical control behavior would not listen to me and was only concerned with getting me to the first stop 1.5 hours away. 7hrs later, stuck on that same plane which rerouted and refueled, I am now stuck in a city for 2 days since I had to rebook and start all over for missing my international connecting flight. Still have 20+ more hours of flying to go and nowhere closer to my destination. Hotel, rental, and new covid tests are all at my expense. Just wish American Airlines staff would listen and help, but if you don't shut up and comply to their every demand, they will ban you and ruin your life forever."

Well turns out they make you jump through so many hoops that your travel insurance fee is useless. I sent a letter to Allianz (the company that handles the travel insurance) and blasted them for their insensitivity in a difficult time. Going forward, I will not be purchasing travel insurance in the future. It may sound irrational but if you think about it, travel insurance is the tax on gullible people. You hear travel insurance and one assumes that if you spend the extra money on the insurance and something comes up, you can at least get much of your money back. Don't count on it! It's a 1/1000 chance they will do the right thing so the odds are not in people's favor. If you want to be smart, use the money you would have spent on travel insurance on some pre flight cocktails at the airport bar. Air travel is hellish enough without scams like Allianz!"

BA should show consideration for real passengers not some sort of statistical average. I am 6'4" and sitting in your plane's cabin inflicts hours of body pain. The space given is sufficient for children and teenagers. Also sitting in the hot cabin for extended amount of time is extremely uncomfortable. Why there is no cooling and proper air ventilation right from the beginning?"

My original flight to dallas was delayed from 12:56 to 8pm which would of landed me in dallas at 2:21am but the club Fat Rabbit closes at 2am Which in fact was a 1300 (US dollar) loss. I re booked my ticket to Austin from Vancouver this morning because the only reason to go dallas was my job. Was supposed to fly in have dinner play music get back on the plane n go Austin but going to dallas was irrelevant and a 7 hour delay was absolutely ridiculous."

The flight attendants are basically candy salespeople. I typically need help putting things in the overhead bin, but the flight attendant actually told me it wasn't her job. That indeed may be the airline's bad policy, but she also thought her way of expressing it was appropriate, which it is not. That has to come straight from the top. Also, what kinda janky airline doesn't serve complementary water. Probably the biggest deal though was that my flight was delayed for 2 hours both ways due to a maintenance issue. I know air travel is fairly safe, but given the track record of both Allegiant and Airbus, I was a little worried during the flights. Even though this particular route is convenient for me, I'm going to avoid Allegiant."

So before anyone was mobile or doors were open, there were large pieces of luggage being passed around through really crowded spaces. Chill, people. The baggage carousel at the new terminal was poorly designed, shutting down when people went to pick up their bags. It took awhile to get our bags, and we were scolded by the staff for tripping some sensor. I don't know what universe y'all live in, but in this one, you have to move close to the carousel to lift your bag. So the sensor tripped like three times and people were unhappy."

Needless to say ive never had a bad experience flying and i used to say that all the time but i guess i just jinxed myself because that was bad. All it was missing was a crying baby."

It was clear that there was no room for three people and no one checked in or tried to accommodate. Trying to go to the bathroom was a huge ordeal bc the person next to me was barely mobile. If there was an emergency , it would have been a hazard. When I was able to go to the bathroom (after ten minutes of maneuvering ) flight attendants seemed annoyed when people were in the lane. While this is understandable, it was not possible for me to quickly scoot back into my seat. Overall , this was a terrible experience. Entertainment was lacking. It took about 30 minutes to get any beverages after being requested."

I think you also have to pay for air circulation on the plane. We sat on the runway for an hour, and the plane was about 95 degrees for the entire time we were on the plane. My requests for the captain to turn on the air were ignored, and we were all left to sweat it out. You have to pay for everything except water, and even getting water is a difficult task! About an hour in, with no carts going by, I went to the back of the plane to ask for a glass of water. The flight attendant, who was literally standing next to the water cart, told me to wait for the service component. I'm 8 months pregnant, was uncomfortable and parched from the roasting plane. I asked why she couldn't just pour me a quick cup right there, and she said "you're just going to have to wait like everyone else." Turbulence ensued and an hour later the attendants made their way to give people their free water. No seats on this plane recline, no leg room. Just awful. Never ever flying this airline again!"

I paid for luggage each way, no carry-on during this flight but did choose my seat ahead of time as well as I was traveling with my husband."
