In order for us to make a change they want $1700 each person, a total of $3400 to take the same flight two days later. The fee is the highest I have ever hear for the same flight class .. I will never ever use China Eastern again, they are taking advantage..I could actually buy a return ticket on another airline for cheaper than they want for a flight change."

They would not let me select an isle seat online or at the gate, they said none were available, I’m 6’2”. Right behind me in my assigned seat there was an empty isle seat. If you ever have to call customer service at China Eastern may god be with you, because they will not be."

There was massive confusion in JFK for the 1st leg of my trip (NYC - Mandalay) regarding the availability of my visa on arrival. China Eastern argued that it was not available, and nearly did not let me board my flight. They were completely wrong, and made my life miserable in the process. Because of this, China Eastern refused to check my luggage through to my final destination (though this has been done many times before), and THEN informed me in Kunming that I needed to pay AGAIN for my extra piece of baggage, though they had already charged me for it in New York. Do yourself a favor and never do business with these creeps - there are too many other available options for air travel."

The two kids spent the entire flight jumping around in the seats playing and talking over me. For a short flight it was bearable but on a longer flight would have been very annoying. The flight crew did very little to get them to sit or stop yelling during the flight."

Cons: "My complaint is against FlightNetwork.com AND Air China for failing to respect the agreement made when my ticket was purchased and the money had been withdrawn. I would like Kayak to be cautious about working with flightnetwork.com because they took my money but did not honor my ticket or register it with Air China. While waiting to speak with an agent at flightnetwork.com, the Air China manager told me he had plans and would not wait for me to help solve the issue. I was left alone at the counter and forced to buy an entirely new ticket from a different carrier last minute. I do not recommend using Air China from NY JFK or the flightnework.com service connected to Kayak."

So I ended up paying $1300!!! for a new flight and in addition to that I have a penalty of $200!!! For my original flight cost of only $600. And my companion who has the same flight as me didn't take her flight because the agent in Air china said that we could rebook her flight without charge and for the same price. So we ended up paying $1300 for her as well plus again the $200 penalty. So we lost $3000 for just the 2 of us!! I will never fly air china again! Worst day ever!"

Cons: "Please see above...All 4 of Air China flights to and from JFK to Beijing & Beijing to Bangkok were delayed... one of them over an hour another over two hours another one over three and a half hours and another one over an hour and a half. Missed even their own connecting flights! The seats were cramped and tight the food was horrible, really quite disgusting. They walkthrough very quickly with a water bottle and cups when I really feel they should mandatory pour you water on such long flights if you are not sleeping. If you do not get their attention they just pass you. They also should conserve and or do recycling they go through a lot of waste of cups, utensils xcetera. The movies they offered were mainly Chinese. The headphones work huge and not adjustable, they kept falling off. Also when I needed to change my flight due to an emergency I was on hold multiple times with several disconnections for a total of over six and a half hours over a two-day time span. Finally got through when I called the insurance company could barely understand there customer service person. They ended up calling me back left a voicemail saying that I was all set for me to call back I went through the whole process again of being on hold for three hours and then get disconnected. When I went to check in and get my boarding pass in Bangkok to fly back they said I didn't have a ticket they pulled me out of line and waited for about a half an hour and they finally printed me a ticket. I also have the experience as to when I was sleeping as most of the plane was sleeping approx 95% there were a whole bunch of Asian people standing up gathered around the restroom talking very very very loudly! I finally called for the attendant and reminded her that I paid for my ticket too and I would like to be able to rest and if she could ask them to sit/quiet down, she did but it only lasted so long... I could hear it completely through the headphones with the music. So if you decide to fly Air China I would definitely make sure that your connecting flights are far apart, pay for business or first class, preorder your meal/ bring your own food, bring your own headphones and do not plan on changing your flight- so don't get hurt on your vacation/travel. Btw.. they don't even serve breakfast or offer coffee... it's all Chinese food either chicken beef or pork with rice or noodle. GOOD LUCK!"

English skills were poor, transferring in Beijing was horrible, there security is still old school with no common sense at all, a woman acted like she just got out of a dilemma with me and my wife. There directions is there but no assistance you will have to figure it out on your own."
