Pros: As expected from JAL, the flight was amazing in every way. The food (the Japanese meal) was not typical airline food, it was actually very good. The courtesy packets had many useful items including eye refreshers, lip balm, and the bathrooms were kept very clean and stocked with both mouthwash and toothbrush/paste. All together as flawless and comfortable an experience as possible on a commercial carrier.
Cons: There was nothing I didn't like, but if I could make a suggestion it would be to offer a larger selection of movies and shows on the long-haul flights. Also the cabin twmperature was a bit too warm but I understand that might vary from flight to flight.
Pros: The majority of the crew had facials that made me feel like I shouldn't talk to them. The food wasn't the best but that was expected. There was movies and shows that kept me entertained for a while. Seats are normal couldn't walk or get up often because of turbulence.
Pros: Japan Airline is a notch above the rest. The services was constant and consistent, the food was delicious and abundant, and the seats were comfortable. I was surprised at how often they would go up and down the aisles checking on passengers, picking up trash, and serving small food items. To top it off towards the end of the trip they put toothbrushes in the bathroom so you can leave fresh, awesome.

Pros: From start to finish, we were amazed by the customer service of Japan Airlines. Altogether we we had a 14-hour day or so of flying with two small children and it could have easily been a 20-hour-or-more day of flying had Japan Airlines not been so great at what they do. We can't say enough about how amazed and blessed we were by their customer service.

When the flight attendants did finally arrive they all had an attitude of wishing to be anywhere but on this flight. The lead flight attendant even got into a verbal altercation with the gate agent demanding help getting people's bags into the overhead compartment because she was "injured" & not supposed to be at work. All in all a quite dissatisfying experience but not an uncommon one with this airline & this airport. I will use both only when I have absolutely no other options.

Even though I have TSA pre-check I was jostled around, sent to multiple security lines without any reasoning and the local Chicago TSA and airport staff didn't seem to know what to do. Once it was figured out I was subjected to what was essentially a cavity search. Again I HAVE TSA-pre-check but apparently that means nothing if an airline flags you. It was an extremely upsetting experience but you were in a situation of either agree to the invasive search or get stranded over 1000 miles from home. I will NEVER fly Iberia again after a cancelled flight and being stranded in the wrong country on the way to my vacation and the horrible security experience on the way back. I seriously may never go to Chicago either after seeing the complete lack of organization and traumatizing personal invasion. I fly a lot for work and have never had such a horrible experience. I would really like to know how many terrorists are caught with these invasive searches and would love to know the justification for sticking your hands inside someone's pants and grabbing their privates after they have already gone through a metal detector AND the body scanner. This caused me to bend my 3.5mm headphone connection at one point while I was moving my leg, because the connection jack is located below thigh level. The temperature was unbearable, and could not be controlled by the flight crew. Dressed for winter weather and roasted for the entire flight. I actually was dehydrated when we landed because I was sweating for 7 hours crossing the ocean.

The gate agent directed me toward the United help desk, which in turn did nothing. After telling me it was not their problem because the delay was Lufthansa's fault, they finally gave me a telephone number to call Lufthansa. That number, as it happened, was incorrect.

When I finally got home, my bag wasn't even on the flight with me.

Just on the last leg, IAD to RDU, the gate agent forced me to check the bag, even though the flight was not full, and the bag could easily fit in the overhead bin. I was in Group 3.

Pros: One of us had the last seat on the plane even though they were reserved almost a month ago. However we had signed up for basic economy so that was not a shock. What was a shock was that water was dripping from the top side track onto his lap and he had to use the provided brochures to redirect the dripping water. The steward said it was condensation and that was it. Also, since it was next to bathroom, the smell wasn't great and the small child screaming while waiting to get into the bathroom wasn't pleasant.

I stand in the gate line for Premier access and the gate crew lady asked me to go and pay for a carry on bag in a very loud voice and asked me to get out of premier access line. When I asked her to take a look at my premier access status, she said stop yelling. Then another man in a suit walks in and first word out of his mouth is not an apology, but a threatening "Don't yell". I just kept walking away from this unqualified person lest it goes out of control. United needs to do a lot better. Just because these gate crew people feel stressed out, they should not take on innocent travelers. Instead of putting a customer under a defensive position, they need to learn to respect the customer. United is training their crew in a wrong way..
Cons: A gal that sat with me on the first flight had seat 15a on the flight to Raleigh, she gets very sick and needed the window seat....BUT. you folks are so screwed up at ticketing that you NEVER book families together. I've flow with you folks 20 years and its always been a hassle. She was asked to move to the back of the plane (seat 32) a middle seat...where she was sick the whole ride so you could do the "shuffle" of passengers....it's poor business practice. When I have a choice I fly SW now.

Pros: I was impressed with the fact that our crew initiated an alternate route so we could actually get to RDU when things had been pretty dicey. Excellent flying and landing under difficult circumstances.

Cons: The gentleman beside me had 2 children with him but only purchased 2 seats. He and his children were in my lap and kicking me the entire time. It was a full flight so I couldn't change seats. I paid $330 for a FULL seat to myself, not so I could share the space with the people beside me because United allowed them to purchase 2 seats for 3 people. As a full-paying customer I shouldn't be the one to suffer because of it.

Cons: oversold flight with 16+ standbys multiple flight delays with vague or no explanations
Pros: Pilot was excellent, didn't even feel the wheels touch down at RDU. It was a turbulent flight with thunderstorms (barely too bumpy for drink service) but Captain made it as smooth as possible and also kept us well informed what to expect. Plane was also on time, though many flights that day were late.
Cons: The flight was cancelled after a 3 hour delay. The next flight out was from a different airport, 14 hours later and with another connection. I would not have arrived home for another 28 hours. I decided to rent a car and drive the 4.5 hours home instead. Processing the refund has been nearly impossible.
Pros: The flight overall went fast - boarded, took off, landed within an hour.
Cons: There was only one snack - a zesty ranch snack mix. I couldn't eat it because it was a little spicy. I was not offered an alternative, I don't know if there was one.

Pros: No delays, was actually 35 minutes early on my return flight, attendants were especially kind to me and helped me out significantly, and I was pleased with the free in-flight entertainment via the free Wifi. Overall, a Good experience with United.
