At the gate we were asked to check in the other carry on bag which we bought right before the trip making sure it fit the new small size req. Still that was put into check-in. We ended up with no carry on luggages with us boarded. Only to find quite a lot of bags that are much bigger than ours were allowed to be in the cabin."

Despite taking off nearly an hour and half late, we were only about 45 minutes late in arriving. What was so great about this flight was that it was NOT full. I had an entire row to myself so I could stretch out and sleep. If I was in a regular coach seat, I would not have been comfortable for the entire trip. The crew was pleasant and helpful."

Cons: "My whole experience with Lufthansa/united was horrible. We booked our tickets on kayak and it was a Lufthansa flight operated by United. When we went to check in at the united counter they told us there was no record of our flight even though we had printed our receipt which had confirmed ticket numbers. It took over 30 minutes for them to figure out they needed to call Lufthansa to get the ticket transferred and in the end blamed us for not doing that ourselves before the flight! I thought this was insane as I have flown with multiple other airlines and never had this problem. And then once it was fixed for the way there we still had problems again on the way back. Never flying United/Lufthansa again."

Not happy with Air Canada, three out four flights took off late. I also almost missed my flight in Montreal to go to Paris if it was not for the friendly and helpful Canadian Customs people."

Cons: "Rouge legroom has gotten to the point of being dismal. The seats are thin and uncomfortable - don't even try reclining though, or you'll be in the face of the person behind you. I buy flight passes which are good on Air Canada as well but Air Canada has taken away all the non- Rouge flights and I am left with no choice. On a 5pm flight out of Toronto, all the hot food choices were gone by the time they were 8 rows into food and beverage service. I'm seriously thinking of moving my loyalty status to West Jet. If only they had flight passes."

Pros: "Drop off at the counter was fast and easy on the upper level departure entrance. From my drop off at 9:00 am, I made it thru baggage check-in, passing thru passport control, passing thru security and into the gate duty free area in 25 mins! Impressive experience."
Cons: "With an hour delay out of Paris due to waiting for missing aircraft flight documents to be completed and delivered to the airplane on the holding ramp, we ended up arriving in Toronto an hour late. With only an original connection time of 90 minutes, it was not possible for me to make it thru Canadian and US customs to the connection gate. I was to learn that no other connection to a Kansas City was available until much later in the afternoon / early evening. As a result, I ended up arriving in Kansas City 6 (six) hours later than originally scheduled, three quarters of the time it took to travel from Paris to Toronto. To say the least , I was not at all thrilled having lost that time."

I went to the wrong terminal, terminal 1 to check in with Lufthansa. With the language barrier I had difficulty learning that I actually had to be in terminal 2a to check in with Air Canada."

When we got to the gate our plane was still there but they said it was too late to get on but they delayed the plane 10 minutes to take our luggage off. We got a later flight. Not happy."

I don't think coach seats should be 'reclinable' -- the space is much too small. it's rude to do so in such cramped quarters and there's always one rude person. she happened to sit in front of me and never put her seat up the entire flight."

I had to call Air Canada, which charged me for the call (15 centimes per minute) then put me on hold, only to finally learn that I could only check in in person because we were traveling with a pet. --- We paid extra for preferential seating, and when we got to the counter were told that we could not have those seats bcs we were traveling with a pet - the pet was acknowledged on our records and travel documents, yet the company allowed us to sign up for preferential seating, then would not let us access those seats, but our previously reserved window seats were gone and we were assigned aisle and center seats, which were then changed again to other aisle and center seats. --- Half the flights on the departure board, including ours, were delayed, alhto there were no weather problems. Both our plane and the plane in the gate next to where we were waiting had mechanical problems - a coincidence, or a repeated failing?"

It was by far the least comfortable seat I have sat in with very little room both in front of and next to me. Nobody should be asked to move like that, especially after choosing my seat online at least three months prior to the flight when I purchased my ticket. Food also not great."

Cons: "I upgraded the seats for me and my 9 year old daughter to economy premium for about $300 per seat. You would think they would give you two seats together considering you are flying with a minor. Nope! The seats were on different side of the isle and they had a seat between. One of the flight attendants was gonna accommodate us to be seated next to each other on the side with two seats only and my daughter was happy to be next to me. Another flight attendant comes after us and moves us to the middle where are 4 seats between the isles. I would recommend to ask what seats you are getting before boarding. I had picked two seats next to each other but in the meantime they sold the window seat to somebody else and moved me one seat away from my 9 year old daughter plus an isle between us. Will NEVER fly them again. I felt very uncomfortable and honestly like criminal while waiting for them to decide about my seating arrangements after paying additional $600 on the top of the regular fare. This was a flight from Paris to Montreal."

Requesting that a sleeping passenger bring their chair to upright position so that the passenger behind can have a snack? It doesn't make sense.This flight was not full at all and we were strongly urged to check our carry-on due to this. Well they didn't apparently see the fragile sticker as our latern and ceramics were damaged and the bag came out on the main conveyor. Also the door wouldn't open for baggage upon arrival so we were delayed an hour?"

Cons: "I understand that it is the duty of the traveller to figure out the legalities but a little heads up about visa requirements would be nice. I did know I needed a document to transit Canada but their website is absolutely not straight forward in telling you what you need to do. I read there was an exempt till September 2016 and since I was flying before it, I thought I would be fine. While I understand it was my fault for not doing my research, it's the way the airline company handled the situation that incredibly frustrated me. There is no empathy or willingness to help a traveler about to embark on their journey, when they are told they can't board. I didn't know you needed a visa just to transit!! It's just stone cold responses and haughtiness. It's a new rule, cut me some slack! They just pushed me off to a partner airline and I was asked to pay 1500$ for a one way flight. I m getting very frustrated with airlines of late! Customer service sucks. There is no genuine empathy for a person in a bind. It's all about making money and getting you out of the line. I'm just disappointed."

I would think that the crew would be familiar with this process at their home airport and not waste our time. Also, no one could tell us if we would have to go through security again and if we could buy any liquids in Paris duty free to bring home due to the liquid rule and going through security. Just a wildly uninformed airline (asked our crew and other AC officials) they couldn't answer a few simple questions."

I was also told something different about my baggage by every single person I spoke to. It was lost in Toronto because I was originally told in paris that I didn't need to claim it when I got to canada -- that it would just follow me through to PDX. But then when I found that wasn't true, I was told it was on its way to Vancouver before me which turns out it was stuck in Toronto with me. Then no one was able to locate it for days. But then I almost wasn't allowed to fly back to the states because no one had told me I needed to fill out paperwork because I wasn't leaving with my checked luggage.... It was all a huge mess. And in the end, I got my luggage back with two broken bottles of wine and smashed, wine soaked belongings because it was rummaged through and not packed back up properly."

Pros: "I had THE WORST experience with ONE flight attendant leaving Paris CDG, flying to Chicago O’Hare. Flight #9334. On 7/26 @ 11:22am. I am hypoglycemic and the flight attendant skipped my line for food I acknowledged her three times and she ignored me so on the fourth time I raised my voice saying “excuse me ma’am” that seem to have irritated her or rubbed her the wrong way because her response was extremely unprofessional yelling at me and accused me of startling her. She compared my voice to the startle of 911 and caused a scene in front of the majority of the passengers. All I wanted was the food that was available for each passenger because she skipped My row. After talking to another flight attendant who claim to be a manager name Celeste who was wearing a visible name tag along with every other flight attendant except for her, I asked her for the name so I could write up a review she refused to give me her name saying it was against their policy to give up first names even though it’s clearly on everybody’s shirt except hers she removed it or covered it up w/ her apron even though Robert Robert was wearing an apron with his name tag outside of his apron like he should the attendant that gave me problems took off her name tag and covered it with an apron that was a violation of dress code. A simple apology is all I asked for but she refused to apologize and the managers only response was “I can’t make her apologize” Never in my life have I been treated with such disrespect on a flight as I am a frequent flyer to Paris on United everybody else and all other flights was extremely helpful and courteous. This woman started ranting and raving about 911 and getting people nervous for no reason. I will be writing a formal letter to the corporate office. I just barely got home and wanted to write this review because it ruined my experience in 9 1/2 hour flight experience. It was also very embarrassing for me and my family, as other customers were bothered by this and had to listen to this. I was trying to speak over the air conditioner and after the third time of her not acknowledging me that is one I raise my voice politely by saying “excuse me ma’am”. I am a frequent united flier. Cons: "I had THE WORST experience with ONE flight attendant leaving Paris CDG, flying to Chicago O’Hare. Flight #9334. On 7/26 @ 11:22am. I am hypoglycemic and the flight attendant skipped my line for food I acknowledged her three times and she ignored me so on the fourth time I raised my voice saying “excuse me ma’am” that seem to have irritated her or rubbed her the wrong way because her response was extremely unprofessional yelling at me and accused me of startling her. She compared my voice to the startle of 911 and caused a scene in front of the majority of the passengers. All I wanted was the food that was available for each passenger because she skipped My row. After talking to another flight attendant who claim to be a manager name Celeste who was wearing a visible name tag along with every other flight attendant except for her, I asked her for the name so I could write up a review she refused to give me her name saying it was against their policy to give up first names even though it’s clearly on everybody’s shirt except hers she removed it or covered it up w/ her apron even though Robert Robert was wearing an apron with his name tag outside of his apron like he should the attendant that gave me problems took off her name tag and covered it with an apron that was a violation of dress code. A simple apology is all I asked for but she refused to apologize and the managers only response was “I can’t make her apologize” Never in my life have I been treated with such disrespect on a flight as I am a frequent flyer to Paris on United everybody else and all other flights was extremely helpful and courteous. This woman started ranting and raving about 911 and getting people nervous for no reason. I will be writing a formal letter to the corporate office. I just barely got home and wanted to write this review because it ruined my experience in 9 1/2 hour flight experience. It was also very embarrassing for me and my family, as other customers were bothered by this and had to listen to this. I was trying to speak over the air conditioner and after the third time of her not acknowledging me that is one I raise my voice politely by saying “excuse me ma’am”. I am a frequent united flier. Cons: "It's a United crew. They're careless and rude."

Cons: "My Wife and I got booted from Lufthansa to a United flight where our seats were across the plane from each other. In order to sit together, we had to spend another $300. United charged us an extra $100 for a check on bag that Swiss and Lufthansa did not charge us for."

Pros: "Boarding went very smoothly. Flight attendants were good. I was glad that water was offered several times during the flight."

Cons: "I will not pay extra to access any in-flight entertainment on a flight. I prefer Air Canada's free in-flight screen access wirh unlimited movies available."

Cons: "Delay before boarding. Boarded and delayed take off. Emergency landing in Baltimore. Talk of busses. Reboarded. Drove the runway in circles. Panic attack. Unboarded followed by the rest of the plane and we then boarded 3 buses that got us to Jersey in 4 hours. I reviewed this once. HORRIBLE."

Cons: "I was on a flight that had tvs in the headrest and had to pay to use the entertainment. Last united flight I was on before that I was able to watch free movies on my laptop. That was much better because I could select what I wanted also without paying for it."

Pros: "Flight was on time."
Cons: "Always a cramped flight, miracle there was overhead room for my bag."

Cons: "Flight crew didn't seem very friendly"

Pros: "Fast boarding and unboarding - excellent crew. Flight was on time - smooth operation."
Cons: "In economy, if the person in front of you reclines all the way - it totally invades your space and is not sustainable. I put up with a rude princess that reclined her chair the whole 8 hours (even when she went to the bathroom). I get that they need to recline...but there has to be some ethical guidelines!"

Cons: "Fly was late. Luggage delivery was slow."

Pros: "Crew were great. Seat reassignment was great."
Cons: "No good snacks no entertainment. Boarding was awkward."

Pros: "Nice and smooth flight"
Cons: "No free entertainment and paid checked baggage but at reasonable cost"

Cons: "without notice, plane made significant shift ..about 70 degrees..... Passengers began to scream. after about 5-10 minutes, pilot announces we were 10 miles away from plane in front of us and got caught in its tail wind. I was never so frightened on an airplane as this flight."

Pros: "Attendant kept re-filling our wine glasses! Very friendly!"
Cons: "A little more leg room would be nice."

Pros: "My ticket was with Lufthansa but the airline was in fact United Airlines. My original flight was from Paris to Newark. The United flight was cancelled with no explanation. So there was nothing to like."
Cons: "The United flight was cancelled with no explanation. My orignal ticket was for a direct 8 hour flight. When my flight was rescheduled it was with a connection in Washington, D.C. with a 4 hour lay-over. I arrived home almost 5 hours later than scheduled. Awful experience!"

Pros: "More legroom than previous flight on B737."
Cons: "Why would you pay to watch anything? We don't care for Direct TV. Just give us something to watch w/o paying."

Pros: "The flight was smooth with a perfect landing, so I was happy with the pilot."
Cons: "The United Airline Flight Attendants who were French were rude. The pilot announced that several of them were retiring after working for 50 years. I think they stayed in their jobs too long because they were very abrupt when I asked for a USA custom form instead of a French form."

Cons: "Only got to serve it once due to turbulence"

Cons: "my light does not focus on my area, but on neighbor's area."

Pros: "The purchasing experience was great."
Cons: "Had to pay for the 2nd bag for an international flight. Didn't expect it."

Cons: "The lousy attitude, mediocre equipment, non-proactive planning to prepare for a known problem......overall, this is not the airline, I used to fly few years back. I think, United knows that there are not many options for New Jersey residents to fly anywhere, without being on UA flights so they take customers for granted.......Well, it won't be for too long, if they don't get their act together.......People will start driving to Philadelphia and find themselves other choices......"

Pros: "The seats were comfortable and the movie selection was expansive ."
Cons: "There was no seat available when I arrived so I had to wait outside the gate for a long time while the crew found one. There was a shortage of blankets. The food was not as palatable as I expected."

Pros: "Nothing much"
Cons: "Service needs to be radically improved."

Pros: "I got a seat that had extended leg room so that was good."
Cons: "The plane was relatively old and therefore the entertainment system was very poor. The screen quality was bad and could hardly see the movies. The touch screen did not work well and the screen kept falling down (I had one that came out of the arm of the seat). I noticed those around me had the same issues with their entertainment systems. The service on the plane was just adequate with the staff fairly efficient but not very outgoing or positive. I recently flew LOT and Lufthansa internationally in coach (economy plus) and they provided better meals, towels for washing, more and frequent drink runs and better snacks. Overall, just a mediocre flight -- not terrible, but not good."

Pros: "The staff are friendly and cordial despite passengers weary of long lines."
Cons: "You should warn travelers,especially in summer, to get to the airport at least 3 hours in advance. The lines for check-in with United Airlines are very long and slow and other check-in points have long lines. The staff are very nice and friendly, however."

Pros: "Once I was on the flight it was fine except for the food which was decent"
Cons: "On my outbound flight from IAD to BRU my flight was delayed 3.5 hours because the "plane was late to arrive". Seems like this happens a lot on United flights. The staff at the gate of Dulles airport were extremely rude and difficult to deal with, which made it frustrating to try and figure out my connection situation. I missed my connection from Brussels to Paris and had to buy a train ticket for which I was not reimbursed by United. Then, on the way back from Paris, my flight was delayed 2.5 hours for the same reason. At least this time I had a direct flight. This entire experience makes me think twice about flying United again. I live in DC and it would be just as (in)convenient for me to go to BWI instead of Dulles for international flights, where there seems to be more options outside of flying United."

Pros: "The United site suggested to arrive 1 hour prior; however, I came within seconds of missing this flight because of the lines at security."

Pros: "Food was surprisingly good . I had last row on plane, aisle seat in central section. Good because there are only 3 seats across. Flight attendants very pleasant."
Cons: "The recline of my seat was not working properly. I could push it back and it would have been quite comfortable since seat slid forward a bit when back rest went back, but my seat would just spring back into upright position."

Cons: "There's much to dislike: cramped quarters, horrible food, paying for liquor on international flight, terrible seats, tiny screens for entertainment... it appears the only good way to fly is minimum in business class which many cannot afford."

Cons: "When attempting to leave Newark and fly to Berlin with my husband and children, we were informed that my husband could not travel because his passport was about to expire the week after we returned home. It had to be valid for 3 months prior to our return. So, I went to Berlin with my children and my husband met us 3 days later! I was heartbroken. Since back I have told many people and only a handful of people actually know this. As a customer service, ALL companies that have any connection with airlines and travel should put this information on their website. The airline casually said, "this happens often". It should NEVER happen!"

Pros: "The quality of the food in the meals was good, and I really enjoyed the small tub of Belgian chocolate ice cream that was served. I was able to move into an exit row seat which was very nice for legroom."
Cons: "The meals were small and insufficient. I knew United would have inadequate food service, so I bought a chicken sandwich and a snack at the airport to bring onto the plane. If I hadn't, it would definitely not have been enough food. The crew was ok, not especially friendly and a bit short at times. The seats were comfortable enough. The movie selection was not bad, but the touch screens were terribly calibrated and frustrating to use."

Pros: "Chicago to Paris flight. Went relatively smooth. Crew was pleasant. Plane was as comfortable as what you'd expect on a plane. Upgraded to economy plus due to the long flight time and leg room was adequate. Large free movie and TV selection was offered which was a nice surprise and bonus."
Cons: "No free wifi. When are airlines going to get on this?"

Pros: "Crew was great"
Cons: "Very complicated boarding. Unpleasant and arrogant gate attendand, she did not show too much of interest in helping us. My husband and I traveled together, but we were seated separately. She changed our seats, but the seats were still not together just in the same row."

Cons: "Flight was delayed 3 hours due to mechanical issues. The AC was not working but they had us sit in the plane for an hour in the heat while they tried to fix it. Then finally had us deplane to wait for replacement plane. Not that the employees weren't polite and courteous because they were, but the last time I had a delay like that the airline gave everyone vouchers for $100 off next flight they booked. Your company let us watch TV for free. Hardly comparable!"

Pros: "The crew was so pleasant and the plane was very clean"

Cons: "The departure monitor first said "on time," then "awaiting aircraft," with ever-later estimates for departure. There was little confidence that there would even be a plane."

Pros: "On Time, polite smiling crew, happy passengers, overall excellent."

Cons: "Food is absolutely atrocious on US airlines."

Pros: "It was pretty easy to board etc. Crew was attentive."

Pros: "The flight was smooth and the interior was new. Very nice."
Cons: "Due to aircraft change my wife and daughter and I were split up. We were able to get two seat together after a long phone call the evening prior to the flight. When we arrived at the airport we ended up with the original two, plus a separated third seat."
