It was not made clear to me that if I wasn't electronically checked in 45 minutes prior to departure, I would not be allowed to check in and would effectively miss my flight. I arrived at a fairly empty Portland Airport and tried to check in 44 minutes before my flight, but was denied the ability to check in, even though I did not have any checked in luggage. I think I actually logged on to the kiosk with 46-47 minutes to go before my flight so I was kind of annoyed. It would have been >easy< to make my flight if either 1. that arbitrary rule had not been made, or 2. if that rule had been clearly communicated in the email I receiver inviting my to check in.

Cons: "TSA had no time to help a disabled person, rather abruptly sending me from line to line to line, because I was disqualified from going through walk-through a certain scanner. Then was un-necessarilly angry with me for putting my Kindle on top of my laptop, to go through the scanner. If TSA had given clearer directions, I would have known how to place electronic devices in the plastic tub. Also they took my wallet from me to go through the scanned by itself. As TSA staff pushed belongings down the conveyor, the little dish holding my wallet turned over, credit cards and the like started to fall all over and under the machine. I started to collect my congtents and was told to stay put, and hold out my hands so they could swab my hands for explosives, and to not move while they put the swab in their sensing machine. Makes me want to not fly in the future."

Even though the flights was delayed, all staff at the gate was friendly and helpful. Crew was caring with a positive attitude. The only downside was that the airplane did not have the ability to charge devices.

It was a bit unsettling as well as unnecessary. If the mechanics can’t quiet things down and tighten the compartments to stop things from making that much racket then Spirit needs to take the plane out of commission. Not a smooth quiet flight for sure. It would be hard to recommend Spirit airlines to anyone."

Unlike the other airlines I was flying back on that gave me a FULL credit of the unrefundable ticket price to be used within the next year! Kudos to American Airlines!!"

Without even looking at my bag, the lady at the counter told me it wouldn't fit and I had to pay extra. I told her it fit, and with an attitude, she asked me to put it in the frame to see if it fit. Suddenly, it did not. She said it didn't fit by over 2 inches. It was less than a 1/4 of an inch, and barely that. I was furious. She refused to care, refused to listen to me, and told me that it was either pay the $65 and board the plane or leave the bag there. Totally rude, and did this to SEVERAL OTHER PASSENGERS. HIGHLY DOUBT I'LL EVER FLY THIS AIRLINE AGAIN."

There was an accident in the freeway and I ended up losing the flight from Oakland to Chicago because the website did not let me check in the night before. We arrived 45 minutes before the flight and they have the policy to check in 45 instead of 30 minutes before the fight like other airlines. We did not even get options or credit. We just had to buy another flight. It was a nightmare."

I liked that they explained how to keep the plane safe (stay in your assigned seat due to weights & measures/keeping plane balanced) and use airplane mode, keep seat belts on, etc. weirdly enough, that kind of strictness and rule-following + explanation really helps nervous people like me. Kudos!"
