Then I changed flights once the connection was going to be missed and had a narrow margin to catch the newly assigned connection which was the last flight to town. The flight leaving SF was delayed to where I missed my last flight and had to stay the night in Seattle. It seems all of this could have been resolved if I could have gotten on an earlier flight, which I was trying to do since 4:00 that day. I didn't end up leaving SFO until 9:00 pm"

Cons: "My stroller was lost while I was traveling to Panama and entire trip I was without stroller. No food was given to me as there are no vegetarian options. When I called 24 hours in advance, they say it is too late. Crew not very friendly. Overall not good experience and was Totally disappointed on my first trip with COPA."

Cons: "I was seated at an exist row at the window seat. The crew would not allow our row to stay seated at the exit row because she said we did not know Spanish well. Instead of finding us replacement of a window and aisle seats we had to take middle seats. She didn't even make an effort to ask if anyone would switch out. I wish airlines would train their crew to think out of the box style and practice customers service, which finds solutions and not state rules. In the end - people migrated to the exist aisle anyway (where we were seated) and made it into a bed."

Cons: "Biggest problem was the inappropriate advice given in Sint Maarten by Copa employees about checking bags in Panama. This caused us to have to buy a new piece of luggage to transport something that couldn't be carried through security. Apparently TSA requires additional screening beyond the normal airport security for Tocumen. For Copa employees in Sint Maarten - whose only flights are to Tocument - to not know this is absurd. There was also an incident with duplicate seating that was handled extremely poorly. I was not involved, but it occurred on an adjoining seat. I finally resolved the problem by giving up my seat. Tocumen airport is not an airport that I want to see again. The security - as indicated above - is not up to standard, the flight listings are ridiculous (6 screens all showing the same flight information and never progressing past "M" In the alphabet, way too much duty-free shopping and way too little other signage. It's off my list."

Pros: "I liked the modern aircraft, service, easy check in procedures..cost-free alcoholic alcoholic drinks were nice and the food served was tasty although there is room for improvement on the presentation (=appearance) of the meals served."

Cons: "Copa cited some airport restriction on number of people they could accommodate on the plane due to weather and how this was handled and processed by the ground crew was just terrible. This affected a number of passengers -- 30 or more, by my estimates. And it started with the leg from Panama to San Francisco not checked in automatically and getting placed on standby. The call center did not offer a suitable explanation for the airport's weather restriction. As a frequent flier on the Star Alliance, I have not seen a situation handled as poorly as this. The ground staff seem very poorly trained to handle what seems to be a frequent situation. And despite most affected travelers being there early with a layover began to resolve this only 45 min before the flight. My appetite to fly Copa from San Francisco has vastly diminished. And so has the desire to fly through Panama City, if weather is as fickle as they say it is."
Pros: "I was bumped from an overbooked Copa flight and was offered another that would get me home at 1am (rather than 3pm) or an overnight stay and a flight the next morning. Instead of trying to find a way home from the airport (a 1+ hour ride) in the middle of the night, I opted to stay in Panama overnight. Copa put me up in a very nice Sheraton in downtown Panama City with a pool, several restaurants, a casino... They gave me $20 per meal I'd be staying for (lunch, dinner, and the following breakfast), arranged a shuttle to and from the airport, and, the best part, a $1000 voucher for future flights with Copa within the next year - enough for two more round trip flights."
Cons: "Communication was minimal or false. When I checked my bag, the agent told me that I was being placed on standby because of a weight limit on the plane. She assured me that the flight wasn't full and that I would absolutely get a seat. When I got to the gate, there was minimal information available, but about 12-15 people were on standby, including two families of 4 and 5 people. The agents were ill-informed and didn't immediately explain why so many of us were on standby and whether anyone would make it on the plane, or what the other options were for those who wouldn't make it on the plane. Eventually four or five people boarded, another few got moved to a later flight, and 6 including me were put up in a hotel. Betzy, a gate agent for Copa at Tocumen, was absolutely wonderful and so helpful and informative with all of this."

Cons: "Unlike other airlines like Delta or United, Copa doesn't ask people if they want to take a later flight for travel credit when a flight is over booked. They randomly select people who get pulled out of the boarding line, even though I already had an online boarding pass. They cite something in the fine print that says you can get kicked off a flight if you don't check in at the front desk with the gate attendants 90min. before the flight. Again, I already checked in and had a boarding pass on my phone. After getting kicked off, the service continued to be poor and they blamed those of us who got kicked off for being 'late.' All of us were there in the terminal well before boarding."

We had to wait in a second security line for 30 minutes before boarding g and were not allowed to bring water purchased in the airport after security onboard."

Cons: "In Panama City we had to go through a secondary security at the gate and had some of our belongings taken from us.. belongings that are normally allowed through security in the U.S... and because of this we had to have our fragile items put below with all the baggage and be sent to baggage claim.. which was extremely scary for us and frustrating. We were held inside the security of the airport without be allowed to leave to use the restroom, buy water or eat food."

Pros: "I missed my first flight due to faulty advertising by copa. Because they announced the flight was delayed. Then they did not want to put me on the next flight because they said it was full, but it was not. Copa representatives at sfo treated me very badly, even though I was very polite. I told them if they didnt put me on the next flight, I would miss my cruise in panama and they were still not helpful. They told me they couldn't do anything to change my flight because I booked through kayak. They ended up putting me on the next flight and I still barely arrived at my destination on time and I had to spend 150$ extra because my transport in panama had already left me. I had to walk all o er ago to see if there were any flights to panam from other airline because they didn't want to admit their mistake and put me on the next flight. I had a horrible experiences with copa on my way to panama and on my way back. Their people were unfriendly, rude and not helpful at all. They give no greetings, they lie about planes being full and my suitcases arrived cracked. Worst and most stressful flying experience I ever had!! I am still infuriated and would like some kind of reparation or action taken because I had to stay 4 extra hours at the airport, spend extra money and they gave me the most stressful experience ever while flying. Oh"

Cons: "This was my first time flying Copa and on the way to South America, my flight from SF was delayed and I only had a 36 minute layover in Panama City, so I missed my flight and rheee wasn't another one for 6-7 hours. Then on the way back, we were flying from Panama City to SF and we stopped in Cancun without explanation and sat on the tarmac for almost 2 hours before getting in the air again. The other elements of the flight were pretty good, but really bad planning and logistics."

Cons: "Stopped abruptly to re-fuel on a non-stop flight to SFO in Cancun. The crew was not very communicative about this stop. The crew then switched at Cancun, leading us to believe the re-fueling communication was not true, and they were really switching out crew. While sitting on the tarmac of Cancun waiting for two hours, drinks/service was not given. I was in business class, and wasn't even offered water. We were also told to not use the restrooms. Worst business class experience of my life. I will never fly Copa again."

Cons: "I arrived at the gate 1.5 hours in advance to get my seat assigned. They had already determined that I was not going to board the plane because of overweight. Obviously, instead of taking less cargo they decided to leave 15 passengers behind. My flight was supposed to leave at 9am and it wasn't until 12pm that I got my new flight. This one was out of Panama at 18h so I ended up arriving at my final destination, PDX ,about 14 hours late. Besides waiting on the new schedule I had to argue with them for another couple of hours to get a hotel room. I made it to PDX one day later but my luggage did not make it. Of course, I couldn't make it to my office that day. To make things worse it took two hours on the phone to get to a person on Copa's the customer service only to tell me that they couldn't do anything on the phone I had to go to their office. The only inconvenience is that their closest office is in San Francisco."

Cons: "I understand the concern for safety, but having a security screening in order to enter the boarding area doesn't seem to enhance security, and it does add real palpable pain to the boarding process. There has to be a better way."
Cons: "They overbooked the flight and I was left out in Panama an additional 9 hours until the next flight out to SF. They were also very unwilling to accommodate me in a nearby hotel all expenses paid to wait for those hours as compensation...but gave first class tickets to other passengers as compensation."
Cons: "It has been 1 week and still no sign of me checked luggage! Copa has been minimally communicative; i am so disappointed; will never fly Copa again. I can only pray my belongings will show up"
Pros: "Must say that customer service on flight superb! Served breakfast and dinner included in our airfare. I remember fondly when other airlines provided this service. Please don't change this service. It is a big deal for passenger attitude and experience! Thank you so much!"
Cons: "The experience at check in at PTY was very challenging...computers were down so we could not pre check from our Hotel earlier. Lines and not enough agents at check in stations....we came so close to not checking our baggage 1 hour ahead of our flight. We arrived at airport 2 hours ahead of flight. Also, departure time when we booked tickets was scheduled at 9:40 am. When I checked the night before it was listed at 9:10 am. We had not received any e-mail update that we know of. Seems there was no one to check with to ask questions as to which line we should be in."

How is that? You tell me. My initinal flight with Copa from SF to PC was great and I will fly Copa again...."
