After webjet refused to fix the issue claiming it would take a week to fix, South African airlines forced me to pay $2,700 to repurchase the same ticket in order to board the flight."

Cons: "Nothing you could have provided other than a business class leg each way. Long, long flight across this planet—half way. I would prefer more English and Foreign movies, please. Unfortunately I left my prescription reading glasses on flight VA602 and Jacques Nortje at Heathrow was kind enough to go looking for them at the lost and found of Virgin Atlantic—to no avail. Black hard case with blue rimmed glasses and a blue cleaning cloth. His service was a godsend—enabling me to stay flight side whilst he went land side so I did not need to go through security for an unaccomplished mission as the glasses were not there."

SA has two bags at 23 kilos each while SAX has one bag at 20 kilos, which makes traveling on SAX incredibly expensive when going through Johannesburg to any region where it flies. I understand weight limit on aircraft, but choose to be more upfront with baggage polices on SA's website if flying with SAX so people don't have a "gotcha" moment at the counter."

After passing regular security check, these people removed a whole pile of items from our bags including items that should have fine such as bottled drinks just purchased at kiosks next to the gate, tubes of hand lotion (tiny ones), fingernail clippers that had traveled around the world (many, many previous security checks), and their attitudes were thats "too bad, throw these items out or don't fly" Such a bad start ruined my flight. Food servers onboard were equally 'grouchy;."

But the vouchers can't be used online or over the phone, you HAVE to go to the airport to the ticket office to use them. They must be used on the same destination flight and you CANNOT buy a one way ticket. But the amount was only enough for one way. Absolute dog show of a company run by completely senseless idiots."

I was told that SAA run out of water About an hour to landing and that was not acceptable. Some of the attendants were rude and unfriendly. Hope management take steps to address this concern. At one point we compared the same crew member's behavior toward a business class passenger and it is evident the crew member did not think economy passengers worthy of minimal courtesy and respect. Someone had thrown up on the plane in a seat near us early on the flight and there was a terrible smell on account of the passenger not disposing of her air sickness bag. When we asked the crew for help in kindly reminding passengers to dispose of their airsickness bags, if used, they were very dismissive rather than helpful."

There is not enough offering of water, in mostly all other long haul flights I have been, bottled water is offered several times throughout the flight There is not a final collection of garbage at the end of the flight and we end up with carrying it out or leaving it inside the plane. Cons: "We had selected specific seats for flight approximately six months ago. On the day of the flight, when we checked our baggage, we were issued boarding passes with those seat assignments. Then, as we presented our boarding passes at the gate, the agent told us there was a problem with our seats; specifically he said that there was “a broken arm rest” so we had to be re-assigned to different seats. He told us the seats he substituted were the same as we had been assigned -- a window and aisle -- but in a different row. We boarded the plane to find out that the seats he issued to us were in the center of the row, not on the side of the plane as he had said. There did not appear to be a problem with the arm rest for our originally assigned seats after all, since those seats were occupied by two passengers. The long flight was uncomfortable due to this change. For some reason that was not given, we were not asked if we wanted to give up our original seats, but they were given to someone else and we were inconvenienced for their benefit. On the trip back, they tried to change our seat assignments again. But we called them on it."

My carry on was claimed as being too big and till today I don't have it and there's NO COMMUNICATION. Emirates here we come the rudeness and entitlement of SAA employees leaves alot to be desired and unfortunately word of mouth goes a long way. After this experience something has to give.."
