FAQs - booking Sweden flights

  • What travel documents do I need to fly to Sweden?

For your visit to Sweden, you will need a valid passport for at least three months beyond your departure date. U.S. citizens do not need visas but will need ETIAS travel authorizations, which will be valid for all countries within the Schengen Zone. You can apply for this document easily online, and it can be issued within a few minutes. In addition, you may be asked to show your return flight ticket and proof of accommodation.

  • Are there any direct flights from Seattle to Sweden?

Unfortunately, no flights travel directly from Seattle to Sweden. However, you have plenty of one-stop flight options going to Stockholm (ARN) and Gothenburg (GOT) on British Airways, Delta, and United. Flights into Malmo (MMX) often require stops in Stockholm first, which would add another layover onto the journey.

  • What are some common layovers on the flight from Seattle to Sweden?

Your layover city will depend on the airline and destination city. If you are headed to Stockholm (ARN), you might have a layover in London (LHR), Amsterdam (AMS), Frankfurt (FRA), or Reykjavik (KEF). If Gothenburg (GOT) is your destination, you will stop in London (LHR) and possibly a U.S. airline hub, such as Dallas (DFW).

  • How can I make my flight to Sweden more environmentally friendly?

Choosing a flight with the fewest stops is the best way to minimize your impact. In addition, you can take part in environmental protection programs offered by your airline, such as Lufthansa’s Compensaid program. This allows you to calculate your flight’s impact and then donate to programs to offset the CO2 emissions.

  • How does KAYAK find such low prices on flights from Seattle to Sweden?

KAYAK is a travel search engine. That means we look across the web to find the best prices we can find for our users. With over 2 billion flight queries processed yearly, we are able to display a variety of prices and options on flights from Seattle to Sweden.

KAYAK’s flight Price Forecast tool uses historical data to determine whether the price for a flight from Seattle to Sweden is likely to change within 7 days, so travelers know whether to wait or book now.

  • What is the Hacker Fare option on flights from Seattle to Sweden?

Hacker Fares allow you to combine one-way tickets in order to save you money over a traditional round-trip ticket. You could then fly from Seattle to Sweden with an airline and back with another airline.

  • What is KAYAK's "flexible dates" feature and why should I care when looking for a flight from Seattle to Sweden?

Top tips for finding cheap flights to Sweden

  • Your flight to Sweden will begin at Seattle-Tacoma Airport (SEA), conveniently situated between the two cities with easy access through public transit. From Seattle, you can take Line 1 on the light link rail directly to the airport, and from Tacoma, the 576 bus.
  • Passengers needing special assistance in Seattle can request curbside pickup on the baggage claim level by the skybridge. Seattle-Tacoma Airport (SEA) offers a complimentary wheelchair service that can be requested in advance. In addition, the visitor pass program allows nonticketed passengers to assist travelers beyond security and up to the departure gate.
  • Sweden is a large country, and you’ll likely need additional domestic flights if you plan on exploring multiple areas during your trip. Flying into a major hub, like Stockholm (ARN), will give you easier access to connecting flights and make your trip more seamless.
  • During extended flights, British Airways offers a comprehensive meal service tailored to the time of day and length of the journey. It can also cater to any dietary needs as long as a request is made at least 24 hours before departure.
  • Make your flight to Sweden more comfortable by upgrading your ticket. Lufthansa allows passengers to bid on upgrades to higher cabin classes up to two days before departure. If your bid is accepted, you can enjoy premium features, like more spacious seating and optional lounge access, all at a fraction of the original price.

We departed and landed early which was a nice surprise. The boarding process was slow.

N Everything was perfect from boarding to assistance to baggage in Tampa

Subpar. The seating on the plane is almost unbearable. We are literally touching and/or sitting on each other which is totally unacceptable and shameful. Pilots and crew was very accommodating and friendly.

The boarding was organized and informative but the plane was tight meaning that you were sitting on one another and extremely uncomfortable. It’s disappointing that can’t have common seating comfort on the plane.

Loved the crew! Sucks that we went from 1 hour and 8 minute layover to a 3 hour layover. But weather sucks like that.

I was told that they needed to check my bag at the gate and to pick it up at the gate in Richmond. No big deal. I know they can't control the weather, but we flew around RIC for 45 minutes to avoid the storm and were 25 minutes late leaving as well. Once we landed, we were told to go to baggage claim to pick up our luggage. I went to bathroom, paid for parking, and went to the assigned baggage claim location. United flight people came down with us as well. They got their luggage immediately. Next, South West people came down about 10 minutes later. They got their luggage next. We finally got our luggage around 30 minutes in waiting. Was not a wonderful experience. No reflection on Delta, but the ground crew was lousy at best.

Everything could have benn better. Short fly, no food, no entertainment and no wifi.

Flight delayed. Air broken. Cabin was hot enough to pass out. Delta shuttle’s becoming worse and worse.

my mom urmila patel needed a wheelchair which was not available on the curbside. she needed to walk almost 50 meters inside (at the risk of falling) and then had to wait in line to get a wheelchair (this is not ok). Once obtained she had to seat in it for 30-45 minutes for someone to take her in thru the checkin process (which was fairly smooth and easy). the lady who helped her with her checkin process was very courteous and helpful

On the return flight, flight attendant Britt went out of her way to inform passengers that several of us had tight connections.

The crew were unprofessional with a racist element. I was physically abused as well from one of the crew members

Crew is not the cheerful type. very slow meal service (this is their style as have flown this many times)

Flight was on time, staff are friendly and helpful onboard.

Terrible last row seats many seats available but no offer to move to better seat

Delay on my previous leg, had to run to catch my flight. But that happens. Overall ok.

At the airport, terrible, I do not want to even remember it. It was too humiliating for a business class passenger.

Flight was ok but lack of communication cost me to literally beg to be put on another flight as connecting flight had departed

They forgot to serve food and the crew was very unfriendly. Never experienced such a bad KLM flight. Usually fly from Toronto. New York was different.

Couldn’t get boarding pass in SLC even with help from a redcoat, so had to find a desk in AMS to get boarding pass. Technical problems so not sure why. Very inconvenient. The KLM app is not as user friendly as most apps. Also had to wait almost an hour on the tarmac for a fuel truck, which caused us to miss a connecting bus in LUX.

The immigration hall in Amsterdam was understaffed, so passport checking was slower than it should be for a major airport. They need to get the automatic readers up and running for non EU passport holders. Waiting in line after a long flight feels a bit abusive.

United didn’t even try to hold the flight for me. They knew I had a tight connection and when I arrived at the gate less than 10 mins after final boarding the flight had already gone. The gate agent wasn’t even notified that I was on my way. She was told I wasn’t at the airport

Great until we got to FRA. The next trip leg we were put in Business Class where seats had minimal padding!!!! They were awful and United Airlines needs to have their Lufthansa partner up their game or I won’t fly with them again!!

I had a good time. However, I paid for the wifi and it was in and out the whole flight.

one staffer was frustrated (it happen); the flight was late and the pilot mentioned they'll make amend but the snacks were the same, other than that the aircraft was clean and everything went smooth, no complaints

The wheelchair service is useless. They live you in different spots, not tell you anything just wait. I waited 30 minutes in Frankfurt when decided to walk the 25 minutes distance. In Budapest nobody came.

It was perfect! I've never flown with United before, but I definitely will in the future

I had a cancelled flight because of technical issues going to my destination, and a delayed flight coming home. All told it wasn’t a total bust.

Just a bad day to fly. Flight was delayed from scheduled 6:50 pm departure to 8:50 pm. Combination of factors mostly related to weather at the destination airport (which is where the incoming flight originated) which delayed the inbound flight over an hour. Once on board, we taxied but had to hold again on the taxiway for 10 minutes or so. We did not get wheels up until after 9 pm. The flight was smooth but about 18 minutes from our destination, we had to hold for several minutes more due to weather at ORD. We finally landed at ORD about 11:08 pm (accounting for the time difference, that was about a 3 hour delay from our scheduled departure time). It felt like we were never going to get to our destination. But the flight crew and attendants were very good. The movie selection onboard was also very nice. Got to watch half of a movie just during our taxi from the gate at ATL due to the delay!

Fine. The issues I had were associated with luggage being delayed from Turkey to Tanzania

No meal service to the back of the plane as it started late or was too slow to get it out before it was time to land.

Cancelled flight, wasn't refunded paid selected seats. Poor customer service. Called airline and they didn't realize the flight was cancelled until several hours after the email notice was sent.

The worst with the trip was the space in economy, my knees are still hurting. There was no way to control personal air by turning a knob above you, it was way to hot on both rides. During the night flight they allowed 2 people from across the aile which was narrow to sit and talk for 7 hours while also using tablets and the flashlight from their phones pointing into the row where I sat at times. They allowed people with way too large baggage to bring onboard. I paid way too much for the ticket ($1,364} for economy. Kayak misinformed me to get cancellation insurance that was only valid for a very short time (less than 12 hours) and was over one hundred dollars. Hotel booking was incorrect, I had the room booked myself at the hotel, only double or larger rooms available which I paid over 400 dollars for. I will never fly with SAS again unless there is no other alternative.

Crew members were excellent. The seat wasn’t the best as well as a food options.

5 of my 7 pieces of luggage are missing and they cant call to find out where it is. I have to fill out a form and wait for them to mail it to me in several days (if they find it). That does not work for my travel itinerary. I need my full ticket cost refunded please.

Fantastic. The only thing - out of my six luggage one was lost in Copenhagen, however it was delivered Home 3 Days later so all great..

The crew was friendly, the flight was pleasant. Thank you for your service!

Our trip plan from Kayak stated we were flying SAS. That was not true. The first leg was a Delta flight. We wasted 25 minutes before finding out to check in with the correct airline. Then our SAS flight for the second leg arrived 25 minutes late, and our third leg flight with SAS closed the gate knowing the flight delay was SAS’s fault, and that this flight would only be backed up 5 minutes. The final kicker was that between Delta and SAS, they lost all our checked luggage.

Flight was completely full January 9th? I problem i had the stewardess was bumping into me constantly walking by? very annoying.. on Austrian air I dint have this issue at all...

Amazing! Everyone was so nice and the food was so good!!

Terrible customer service. The flight attendants were rude. We experienced significant turbulence for a large portion of the flight and there was very little check in from the flight deck. The space was extremely limited to the point where it felt like torture. Never again

The most uncomfortable seat i’ve ever had on a flight

The real reason why the flying experience with Icelandair ---was mediocre was because of not being able to enter DC airspace yesterday evening. This obviously was out of your control and do realize this is a safety issue. I did notice---that everything was being done to get us to Washington Dulles and we did arrive at Dulles SAFELY with just a 4 hour delay. Thank you!

The staff was kind and helpful. There was no food, and you needed to bring your own earphones to use the entertainment, which I didn’t know.

They wouldn’t check in my luggage even though I had one checked bag prepaid. So I took my bag to the gate and tried to check it in there and two employees scolded me for bringing a large bag to the gate. I told them I was trying to check it in and that it was prepaid, and they said they couldn’t guarantee that it would arrive at my destination but they finally let me drop it off when boarding the plane and pick it up right after exiting the plane. There was no food, and there was no entertainment.

Overall satisfied and would fly with them again. They could improve the check-in efficiency at BOS, we got backed up because it seemed there were passengers requiring much more time for check in.

Delays at check-in, seemed like they were short ground staff at the time and some passengers needed extra processing.

Problems checking in both on the laptop and on the app. No free seating available at check-in as advertised - must pay for EVERY seat between $23 and $75. No way to cancel seat choice. App menus and site menus are not responsive, and some items are impossible to find. Crew and mobile assistance are friendly and helpful.

Food - Non-Existent. You pay for everything. It is strictly Pay-to-Play!

Again, we paid $ 328.00 for specific seats are were assigned those seats.

Having been prepared for paying for everything on board other than water, coffee and tea the service was OK. Food and drink is expensive but the food was OK if limited in scope. Plane was clean and obviously well serviced. After complaining about having to walk in wind and rain to a get a bus to the airport the same thing happened at Portland. I’m sure you could get a terminal gate flight, complimentary food and drink for not much more money without traipsing through rain and slush in Reykjavik. Not bad but not great.
