Cons: "They claim to be cleaning these planes but I find that hard to believe when there is Gum on the window sill. We were also delayed quite a bit in the boarding process. Also I would imagine that during Covid-19 these companies would do a better job of not overbooking flights but all of my flights with American this past weekend were overbooked. Which delayed us even longer as they searched for volunteers to adjust their flights. In today's age of technology the idea that they are still overbooking planes makes no sense to me in the slightest. I will be walking, driving or taking a boat before I fly American Airlines again."

Cons: "They ran out of breakfast. Seat configuration was 3-3-3 in economy and not 2-4-2 like on the JAL flight on the way to Japan. The level of professionalism is much higher on JAL in regards to the flight attendants than AA. The boarding process still needs a lot of work to be more organized (take a look at JAL as an example - they treat customers like kings and queens). Also, there was no way to get a seat assignment through the JAL website. That website looks and acts like it’s from the late 90s."

And the flight attendants had the typical U.S. flight attendant perma-rage, of course. I feel sorry for them, underpaid and overworked, but always p***ed off. Anerican Airlines needs to look at Emirates and other non-U.S. carriers to learn how to treat their passengers."

If I would have known that beforehand, I would not have purchased my ticket through AA.com. During my original online booking, the screen said JAL service from NRT to DFW. Just about everything was bad about my American Airlines flight. I travel to and from America several times a year from Asia. Each time I travel, I swear I will never fly an American based airline for the trans-Pacific portion of my flight. My latest experience with American Airlines only reinforces that resolution. The in-cabin crew is (and I'm being nice) pathetic! They are veteran flight attendants and they look and act like they could care less about the customers on the flight. Frankly, I'm just downright disgusted with the service and personalities of the American crew's attitude. They act like they are old and tired, uninterested in quality service, and that we (the passengers) are an imposition upon their life. For example, mid-flight, I walk to the back of the airplane for something to drink, instead of assisting me they point to a "station" at the Emergency Exit door stocked with random drinks and snacks. While they are chit-chatting, looking at their smartphones and reading newspapers, books, and Kindle-type devices. That has never happened on an Asian-based airline flight. Another example, in-flight food service, the cabin crew members are waking people up to serve food and, instead of being gentle and cordial, they are rude and impatient. My 2 row mates were both Asian, and because of being awakened and the ambient noise in the aircraft, they could not hear what the flight attendant was asking. So, with a tone of impatience and disrespect, the flight attendant virtually shouted at them their choices for the meal. Whatever happened to the "customer is always right" or the "customer is king"? My renewed resolution: I will no longer fly American-based (because Delta is even worse) airlines to and from Asia. If needed, I will pay the higher fees and fares to fly anyone of a number of Asian-based carriers. It is worth it for the 24 hours it takes me to cross the Pacific. I am sick and tired of the begrudged and entitled attitude of the archaic cabin crews of American-based airlines."

Cons: "The seating space was much more cramped than the JAL flight I took over to Japan. It was awkwardly close to your neighbor when getting adjusted with seat belts and such. This would have been OK for a shorter flight but a bit too close for comfort for a 12 hour one."

Pros: "I was one of the wheelchair passengers, obviously I was struggling and asked an attendant to help me with my carry on bag to be stowed in the bin above the seat. SHe said she can't because she will be greeting the passengers!!! Anotherattendant finally helped me but it is disconcerting to be received like that by one of the crew. I did get helped by Ms Gonzales getting off the plane , I am very grateful that despite the first unpleasant attendant, there was a nice one among the lot."
Cons: "I 'm not sure if this is the venue for my complaint. When we landed in DFW there were 13 passengers on wheelchairs but there were only 3pushers.. there were 2 of us that were left and abandoned for about 40 minutes, I finally had to leave my chair and push the other lady's chair through passport control. Finally one AirServ pusher helped us with our luggage through custom and then transfer. I got to my gate 3 and 1/2 hours after we landed."
Cons: "The flight attendants were rude and short. They were not welcoming and an attendant asked if I could "just pick the meat out" of the food considering I am a vegetarian. That is unacceptable and overall they just seemed annoyed that they were working on that flight and did NOT go beyond to make the 13+ hour flight comfortable."

I had a super pleasant experience with Air Canada prior to this trip so it made me so sad. On the other hand, crew were fantastic. We missed our connecting flight but they took care of us so I was happy in that sense."

Cup of noodles and a 3 tiny pieces of beef plate were provided for dinner which was very disappointing. While a typical egg breakfast and snack were also provided. Hot beverages were generally not served due to turbulence and water service during the 12hr flight was minimal."

Cons: "From the time of booking the flight, we tried to sort out our profiles, provide passport and KTN, and frequent flyer info, as requested when we booked. Website problems were numerous, from being kicked off multiple times, to refusing to accept my info. I tried numerous times to call on the phone since the web site didn't work, but either didn't get through or was directed back to the web site. Eventually, I reached someone that told me it would be best to just sort it out at the airport. At the airport, I was told I should have set things up ahead of time. In the end, two of us traveling together, with work to do together over the course of the 13 hour flight, ended up sitting on opposite sides of the plane, and didn't get fed because they ran out of food. This shouldn't happen to anyone, but having paid for premium economy seats, you can imagine I was even angrier. We brought this up with a customer service rep in person when we landed and were told that she had no power to do anything and that we should call when we got home. And just to top things off, when I realized I couldn't get work done, I tried watching a movie and learned that the audio jack on my entertainment system was broken."

Pros: "When I spoke to one of the stewardesses about how this was the second time in a week that Air Canada failed to prepare a vegetarian meal for me, she listened to me and somehow pulled something together. All other employees were courteous, as well."
Cons: "On both my departure and return flight, Air Canada insisted I did not tell them ahead of time that I was a vegetarian. I am sure I did it for the departure, and I am absolutely certain I did it on the return. I contacted them because I didn't want to go hungry on another 10+ hour flight. I think, what happened was, another vegetarian who didn't order ahead requested a vegetarian meal and got mine. I was told I had to verify 48 hours before my flight. Why? Could I have become non-vegetarian in that amount of time? You should have to say it only once. I have never had this problem on any other airline, and it happened the only two times I've flown Air Canada. The light positions are terrible; my neighbors' light shown directly into my face the entire flight."
Cons: "My husband went onto the plane in Toronto bite-free and left the plane in Toyko with over 20+ bites from what we assume were bed bug bites. This left us in a panic about dealing with bed bugs. Apparently, bed bugs on planes are becoming more common place! We've contacted Air Canada via email about a week ago and are waiting to hear back from them. Furthermore, the flight to and from Tokyo did not allow much time for sleeping. The flight attendants were going up and down the aisles very often with meals/snacks, drinks, duty-free, and charity requests. I was expecting a lull after the dinner meal where they would dim the lights and limit services for a few hours, but it did not happen. While impressive how many services were available it was a bit much and would have preferred less to allow for some quiet time. Finally, the return flight from Tokyo to Toronto there was a single flight attendant who was quite rude to the other attendants as well as passengers. While boarding a lady in front of us didn't have her boarding pass when entering the plane but was with her husband. This flight attendant asked her for the pass, and she said she knew where her seat was because her husband was right in front of her and they were sitting together (at this point we had our boarding passed check 3 times before even boarding the plane). The attendant raised her voice at the lady and told her it didn't matter and that she needed the pass. Within a few minutes, she was getting after a few flight attendants for insignificant things. This behavior continued throughout the flight, very unprofessional. This was my first time flying Air Canada and I was not impressed."

Cons: "I didn't like the fact that because the flight from Bradley to Toronto was late I almost missed my Tokyo flight.. It would not have been such a big deal if I wasn't going all the way to-Tokyo. And had to go through customs. The commuter plane was delayed getting to Bradley. I got to Toronto, and again we had to wait on the tarmac. They knew we were coming and were late as it was. Canadian air also knew I had to catch a flight to Tokyo. I thought my connection times were to close and I was right. No one told me that I had to go through international customs. So, I was in the wrong place.When I made that discovery I literally ran to customs and asked to cut in line. Again I ran to get to the gate. They were boarding when I arrived. Why I say did you put me through all that when it was avoidable? Then on the way back after a 14 hour flight I had a 6 hour delay to get back to Hartford. Why was that I ask? The same thing happened last year. And you didn t fix it yet? Nightmare. And lets not even talk about the food on the plane. I make sure I eat before the flight if I have time.In this case there was no time. I also had to change flight dates. I was on the phone for 1.5 hours on hold. Only to be told that I was calling the wrong place. So, that's my Air Canada experience. Some sort of cash or check rebate should be in order. Not a voucher to fly with them again."

Cons: "When we checked our baggage in Washington, D.C., we were told we would not see our bags until we arrived in Hiroshima. That turned out to be misinformation. When we arrived in Tokyo, we were told we would have to pick up our bags at baggage claim and take them to our connecting flight area. We only had 1 3/4 hours between flights and it took us over an hour just to get our bags. By the time we got our bags and got to the drop off point for the connecting flight, it was way past the time when they stopped accepting bags for the connecting flight. This caused us a lot of stress. We are not seasoned travelers, we were traveling in a foreign country with a language we are unfamiliar with, and are elderly. We got into 2 wrong lines before a fellow traveler with the same situation helped us. She spoke Japanese and was able to put us in contact with someone who could help us. We were fortunate to get a flight an hour later to our final destination. Now we worry about the return trip having a similar problem."

There was no explanation from the staff. Also, one of the door fire alarms kept going off every few minutes and it was never fixed but eventually shut off. Very unreliable air carrier."
Cons: "It is Air Canada Express. It has long delay hours both to and from for us traveling from Chicago O'Hare to Japan. No explanation. Made us missed out flight in Tokyo and had to stay at hotel. Air Canada did not honor our flight mileages because of their delay, they had to put us to UA. UA was bad too."
Cons: "I was not able to select the seat in advance although I purchased the ticket way in advance. We should be able to choose a seat online in advance. Especially when you are traveling with another family member a friend, you don't want be seated away from each other. That was one of the issues I had with Air Canada."
Pros: "The flight had good entertainment, decent food, good service, and it left on time. I've never been really impressed with Air Canada but they provide great value for the money as they have sort of become the budget airline of international travel without having a true "budget airline feel." I'll take a good flight to Tokyo with Air Canada for $1100 over an excellent flight to Tokyo for $1500 or $1600, or maybe more. I also like the option of having a long layover in Toronto or Montreal with Air Canada, as these are good cities to spend a few hours in. On the flight back from Tokyo, I had a nice layover in Toronto that lasted almost a day."
Cons: "The electronic/entertainment system went down for a about an hours so that was annoying. This only happened on the return flight but it was enough to create anxiety and make you wonder when it's going to come back on. Airline food is hardly ever much but it's pretty dull on Air Canada. It's not a bad idea to bring some of your own food and alcohol onto an Air Canada flight. The service was good but the stewards don't seem to enjoy their job as much as on some other airlines."

Cons: "We upgraded to the bulk-head seats for the long 12-hour flight. The seat I had (second from the aisle) had the bolted framework (where the computer screen tucked into) sticking out. Since I'm short, this really interfered with my left leg room. On a normal flight, this probably wouldn't have even mattered, but since it was a 12-hour+ flight, and I paid an extra $120 to upgrade to that seat, it was a little disappointing. But, again, a small complaint to the great service we received."

Pros: "Almost everything, from check-in, to boarding, the crew, comfort, food and entertainment were great. Was able to easily check-in from my mobile. Boarding was one hour early and gave everyone enough time (due to this, we left early about 15 minutes before actual departure time and arrived even earlier at about 40 minutes before actual arrival time). Whole crew was friendly except for one (see my other comments). Seats were comfortable and roomier compared to other airlines. Food was perfect. Did not feel hungry or bloated. Entertainment choices provided tons of movie and TV shows to choose from. Even the customs procedure at Toronto was very easy. I would fly Air Canada again to and from Tokyo. Thank you."
Cons: "My flight was almost perfect except for one snafu. There was one flight attendant who gave me a broken plastic glass when I asked for apple juice. The juice was flowing out so fast that my aisle seatmate got drenched. He never offered any apologies and when my seatmate and I both asked for some extra napkins, he looked at us very rudely. It was a surprise as rest of the crew were very nice that I regret never getting his name to report here."

Be warned if sitting with your travelling party is important, even paying the up-charge for a reserved seat does not mean that will be seat you will have when you check in and will be greeted with "Their is nothing we can do at this time" as a response from the staff. Food ranged from okay to dreadful. Will not fly Air Canada again."

Cons: "Nothing wrong with the flight, but security and customs at Lester b Pearson was an inefficient and an unpleasantly long experience. Had to show passport and/or boarding pass half a dozen times at different stations. Many of the stations were within sight of each other, so...why? It was a nightmare and it took over an hour. This applies to coming back to the U.S. The process while going through Canada was fine. While I would fly with Air Canada again, I will be avoiding that airport on my next trip."

By the time we could reschedule our flights, we spent four hours on phone. United's attitude was worse than Air Canada. Hire more staff to take calls, for god's sake. Food is bad. The audio has no classic channel. The wait at YYZ was 6 and half hours. Too long."

Cons: "The seats are pretty tight for someone my height (6'2"). The plane was brand new and it's clear that they have sacrificed comfort for capacity. My knees hit seat in front of me when it is reclined any amount. Since I had injured my knee during my travel in Japan there was added discomfort. I attempted to upgrade to more legroom at check-in, but the only option was business class which would have been at least $500, something I could not afford."

This is the same carry on that I have stored in overheads on literally over 100 flights including a United flight 4 days earlier. I was the approximately the fith passenger to board in group 3 and after I let her check my bag I walked on to the plane to see not only was it only one quarter full of passengers, most of the overhead bins were completely empty. So I had to go to baggage claim to get my checked bag after we landed which took almost 40 minutes. Very frustrating!"

No Asian options on flight from Japan; sad. So-so movie selection, controlling screen not very easy, screen often too dark. The list of movies in the United Magazine was incomplete and inaccurate. The size limits on carry-on bags and personal items was smaller than other airlines, unnecessarily so for the latter given the size of the space under the seat in front. United is inconveniencing customers without any justification."

During several flights in Thailand, the attendants were constantly catering to every passengers' needs. The difference between the flight attendants from Bangkok to Tokyo compared to Tokyo to DC was worlds apart. The Japanese attendants were as friendly as ever and took care of all the passengers needs. The flight attendants were flat out rude. There was once event on this flight that I could not believe. A child of 5-7 years old had to go to the restroom with his mother. The flight attendant was collecting trash from our meal. Even though she knew the child was behind her and needed to go to the restroom, she would not stop collecting trash, move her cart so that the boy and his mother could get to the restroom. Instead, she continued collecting trash and made the boy wait until she was done. I feel embarrassed for the foreigners who were on this flight and this was their first impression of America and Americans. The main meal that was served was a breaded chicken patty served with a slurry of questionable gravy, rice, and a roll. I received better food on multiple 1 hour flights while in Thailand. The comfort level was what you would expect from most American airlines-tight and cramped. I will never book with United for another international flight."

My trip was cancelled and I had no knowledge of this until my arrival to the airport.. I had to pay an additional 75.00 to go back to Racine then another 75.00 to head back the next morning. When i arrived to New Orleans I was charged an additional 30.00 dollars for parking!"

I travel this route on a regular basis, every three months, and I've never experienced such poor quality of service from United."
