I was stuck in the last row, back of the plane & had seen other people with coffee. The flight attendant told me no, I would have to wait for 3 more hours for coffee at breakfast. A smiling face showed up within minutes & asked if I wanted coffee. She told me that when she hears someone else say "no" that she thinks it should always be "yes". She was the African American flight attendant (wish I would have got her name). She brought me coffee, offered tylenol & checked in on me again later."

So much so that I had trouble walking when I got off the plane, and I'm in pretty good shape. I used to get upgraded often with USAir. Now that I have 3 times the mileage built up, it never happens. This wasn't the worst American flight , however. I recently had the displeasure of flying on one of the new planes, and that seat was so upright, cramped, and hard, it was like being on Spirit! (And I refuse to get on their planes ever again) my entire body was sore and stiff after flying on the new AA jet."

The ground staff wasn't at all helpful in trying to get me on another flight and in fact sent me to Delta! The lady there couldn't have been nicer and more helpful. Sadly I wasn't compensated at all and had to pay to re-book the flights on the Sunday 17th. On my return from Brisbane, American Airlines had cancelled my flight to Atlanta as they said I was a 'no show' heading out. Thankfully I was able to get a seat on stand by. So, no I'm not a happy customer."

It's actually cheaper to have the airline handle your luggage than for you to carry it. The fact luggage fees seem to randomly change. I was charged 45$ for my bag on the outbound flight but for some reason I was charged 57 for the same bag for the return flight. Had I been made fully aware of all these charges I would have been able to save money while flying on a real airline."

In the morning the flight was delayed again. Fortunately I had a three hour layover in Atlanta, so the delays only meant less of a layover. The seats were uncomfortable. It was a clear day without many clouds, but somehow the pilots on both of my flights weren't able to hold the planes steady during the takeoffs, climbing to altitude, and approaches for landings. The planes were wobbling a lot---like they were no longer on smooth automatic pilot."

I went back to the lady, and once they called our flight at the 50 min mark and said that we need our bags checked now. The line agent again told me to go and wait in the line, only to wait and be told we missed our window which was what I was trying to tell the lady earlier. To add fuel to the fire, it seemed three of the people were arguing and then switched to Spanish when it got heated. Lucky, we were able to go out on Delta an hour later without issue and went well. I'll never fly Spirit again for it was a horrible experience and that's from someone who flies's various airlines and 160,000 miles a year! After many years of flying this is my first complaint. However, I would warn others to spend the extra few dollars to go with another airline when traveling."

Thank goodness the flight was only four hours long. While I understand that drinks and snacks are "add ons" and a profit center, passengers have to buy expensive water and snacks with the gate vendors. Surely the airline could stock a few gallons of water for dehydrated passengers? The cost of my two bags would have covered bottled water for everyone on the flight."

When called the agent couldn't help for an hr due to a system update and asked me to call back in a hr and to keep trying number. No one in the airport was willing or able to help to rebook. Conflicting information was given by the gate, check in desk and the agent on the phone. We received a $7 food voucher after waiting inline 2 hrs for it. And the only options they offered; was to fly to another airport with an 8 hr layover after being in the airport 12 hrs already and catch another flight at 7am. Or to wait two days to get a flight out of ATL. Worst part was the customer service and rude staff. I won't be flying with spirit in the future. Employees stood around instead of helping and had bad attitudes. And no clue as to flight info, or plane status to keep us updated."

They were entertaining, so pleasant, joking and engaging with customers all while being professional and efficient. Better service than the "premier" airlines that I have recently flown. We were more inclined to order drinks and food onboard because we were in good spirits and felt that we didn't need to wait until touchdown to allow vacation to begin. Cons: "When providing us alternative travel arrangements, Spirit staff took the easiest alternative flights rather than looking a little longer to provide alternatives that more closely matched our original travel agenda. Instead of a direct flight from Philly to Atlanta with a two hour travel time, we were offered a 6 hour ordeal with two stops, Boston and Charlotte."

The seats were pretty comfortable (although I'm not sure they reclined - couldn't see how they would), flight attendants friendly and capable, and I appreciated the announcement re where to find our checked bags."
Cons: "I didn't order coffee during this leg, having ordered it on my trip out and finding that it tasted like instant machine coffee.... I had an aisle seat, and the mother and young son next to me talked loudly during the entire flight, making it hard to concentrate in my reading in spite of wearing earplugs. But this has nothing to do with Spirit - simply their ignorance and lack of consideration and my being unwilling to speak with them about it."
Cons: "Having to pay for a drink. Seats don't recline."
Cons: "Hidden fees after you book the flight! The flight was delayed 3 1/2 hours! The cabin was filthy... upholstry was dirty, carpet was stained, there were pieces of paper, plastic, and food on the floor. There was dry cereal on the floor and in between the seat where I sat. I doubt that I will fly Spirit airlines again!"
Cons: "Folks....this was my first time flying on spirit and all I can say is never again! It all started a couple weeks before the actual trip when I called their customer service number (it's a toll number NOT 1-800) and come to find out their call center is located in Asia. Talk about a language and culture barrier. The individual on the phone was not able to help me out due to their lack of speaking basic English. The trip itself started with a cabin that was disgustingly dirty from the previous flight and yes you WILL get buckled and dimed for everything! Want a Coke? It will cost you 3$. Need a boarding pass? 5$ In fact, to be able to carry on a small average sized suitcase it cost 45$. Seriously! 45$ just to carry on a smal suitcase and that price is just one way! Do yourself a favor and fly with a legacy carrier instead Delta, American, or United). Spirit has horrible customer service, dirty airplanes, and thy will nickle and dime every possible dollar from you! That's all!"
Pros: "Overall I had a good flight. Everything went as smooth as it should have."
Cons: "Paying for seats that recline is unreal and paying $40+for a checked bag and a carry-on is quite ridiculous. The maximum weight checked luggage weight is 40 lbs which is quite difficult when your a woman traveling for a week."
Pros: "The 1st flight was late, however no one was at the counter to explain why or say what the expected time of departure was. The crew were friendly."
