There was also a terrible odor that several others said they could also smell. The attendant said that there was nothing that could be done, and we suffered through the entire flight. Also, the TV control was broken and there was no option to turn off the TV. The attendant said that there would be a $25 voucher issued for compensation. We have not heard a peep from anyone!"

I was planning on making it to work by 9 this morning but the only folks who received alternate flights were the ones with connections :( in addition to this, the power shutting down on the plane was extremely unsettling. I have flown hundreds of times and have zero fear of flying. Today, I was terrified that the power would shut off mid-flight at any moment. I truly wish we'd been given another plane...i know that's tough. But something along those lines would have been better than stepping back on the one that shut down with all of us in it...after waiting for hours for it to be repaired. I do appreciate the $150 coupon though."

However, on this itinerary, Delta would not allow me to give them money for Comfort plus, because it was a domestic leg on an itinerary including stops in Asia. Such a baffling policy!?!?"

Altogether 24+ hrs of no real sleep. To add insult to injury, a Delta representative called and apologized, offering a $100 voucher or gift certificate. Raised expectation that they might actually do the right thing. I then received a Delta email that says "Your day just got better", except there was nothing but ads and enter to bid for things. Overall bad experience when I really needed them to get me home on time."

Getting a refund back is now becomes a very complicated process with zero transparency. Main Cabin Extra is kind of a scam. We bought it specifically for an extra leg room. However, on the flight from PHX to BOS, all seats in the economy class have the same leg room. The agent explicitly told us that on this plane all seats are the same. So, they offer product they do not have and collect money. Sounds like a scam to me."

On the flight, service was non-existent, whoever was in the galley was clattering things about, despite the fact that this is a short red-eye flight ... the coffee was awful. The steward forgot to give me my coat and I had to ask twice AFTER we landed and were leaving the plane to get it. By contrast, Lufthansa has daybeds and a special quiet area to snooze, and offer pillows and blankets. Clearly, the Germans are louche compared to Americans."

Cons: "Just got off a SF to Boston flight on a new looking 737. It was the worst, most uncomfortable flight experience of my long life. The seats are narrow to the extreme (BTY, my doctor tells me I'm under weight for my 5/7 frame), and the leg room is practically non existent. You can't stand up if the person in front of you has their seat inclined. Shame on you United for packing us in this tight. There are tv screens on the back of the seats but you have to pay for tv and movies, unlike JetBlue, where tv is free. It would at least have been nice to have the flight path shown at no cost."

The plane loaded at 1230 but did not push back from the gate for almost another hour. Upon arrival in Boston we spent near another hour on the tarmack waiting for a gate free up with very little comunication. I got to Boston 5 hours after I had intended to with no ability to give my rid from the airport any info for when I would be getting off the plane. The whole time dance moms rotated between a different show but must have come on 3 times with no ability to shut the screen off and take a nap. No compensation was offered in any way."

I know this was not united's fault but perhaps my discontent can be forwarded to the proper people. I went through all the correct procedures to transport this via a connecting flight and through no fault of my own had it taken from me. It seems like sort of a scam that travelers are told they can purchase these items and legally transport them home only to have them not make it through security at the connecting airport. I was not the only one this happened to. Bad form!"

Luckily the staff member I spoke with at checkin was helpful and put me on another airline, but only after she tried to tell me they'd sent an email and said there were no flights til the following day. I had to explain that I hadnt been notified, had taken off work, had just taken a cab there, was 2 hrs early, and due to the nature of my trip not able to leave the following day. Though she was very helpful I feel it was luck and the nature of using a small airport, not something I can expect. Either way I shouldn't have to explain and insist when it was clearly the airline's mistake. When I later checked my email I actually had never recieved a cancellation email, just an email saying cancellation was possible. Overall another bad experience with United. Flew American Airlines and was happy with the flight."

Cons: "Our return flight from Atlanta to Boston was cancelled due to mechanical problems. Spirit had no way to rebook us in a timely manner (a fight 4 days later was offered from their help line). Since they only had one flight a day from Atl to Bos, any cancellation would be close to impossible to rebook for stranded customers. Unfortunately I cant recommend this airline to anyone unless you have a flexible schedule both ways. I had a test the next morning, so got a full refund for the return trip, and instead of arriving home at 3pm I arrived at 1 am . Plus the added cost of a last minute flight on a different airline."

Seats wouldn't recline and you had very little leg room. Can't imagine flying in those seats for more that a couple hours. And if you are over weight! Good luck fitting in the seats! They don't even give you water. All food and drinks must be purchased. Our family will avoid this airline in the future."

Cons: "Flight down to Fort Lauderdale was cancelled we were told "because of the crew". It went downhill from there. No updates on progress...The spirit team at Boston airport was clueless and rude. Finally after hours of waiting and wondering how this all was to be handeled, we were told the "only option" was to get a flight to fort Meyers the next day at 3pm and get bussed to ft Lauderdale. This inaction would have caused us to miss not just the one day we already missed, but another on top of that. And I kid you not, we spoke to 7 different staff members, including the female who looked to be in charge, and not one of them uttered an actually apology for the inconvenience. I had to call on my own to rebook and pay $1,400 to get another flight one way for 3 of us. We booked spirit to save $$, and we actually ended up spending more and missing a day of our hard-earned vacation. We will never fly spirit again. I have been bumped from flights before, but NEVER has it been so mishandled and we were never treated as if we were an annoyance. We should have been offered compensation above and beyond the refund of our one way flight."

Otherwise its worth it to book an airline that won't charge you an additional $80 + for a carry on."

Cons: "First of all, the bag fees are overpriced (and I booked mine online ahead of time). When I was paying for it online, the website crashed three times while processing my payment (in two different browsers) and ultimately wouldn't let me print my boarding ticket. Secondly, when waiting to board, the staff person at the counter made a drawn-out announcement about the checked bag fee increasing no fewer than twenty times. Similarly, the credit card membership announcement during the flight was a fifteen-minute affair that was irritating and unwelcome. I understand that it's a budget airline and that part of enjoying reduced ticket fare is a compromise to endure advertisements and extra fees for things, but when it becomes endless and annoying, preventing you from talking to your neighbor, sleeping, or just enjoying the flight, it really calls into question whether it's worth it. Finally, the cabin was much too hot and, although several people called it to the staff's attention, the air conditioning never seemed to work. Overall it was an uncomfortable and unpleasant experience that made me reconsider whether it was worth the reduced fare, which isn't all that much lower than the mainstream option. I was disappointed and frustrated."

There was no one at the kiosk at the gate to answer questions about when the flight was taking off so everyone was just sitting around kind of clueless. You had to pay for all snacks on the flight, which I didn't mind, because I understand it keeps the price down. The plane made a lot of odd noises that I've never heard before. When we finally got to the terminal, they told us there was "bad news" and that we couldn't get off the plane because they were having an issue attaching the walkway. This happened the last time I flew spirit. Unfortunately I don't think I will be flying with them again, regardless of the lower price."

Between carry on and checked luggage fees, seat costs, and even a cost to print boarding pass (since they don't have mobile boarding passes), I'm over $200 for this one way ticket from Detroit to Boston. This morning I arrived to the airport at 6:15 AM for a 7:15 AM flight. I was already checked in and had paid for my checked bag. I was directed to the wrong line to give them my bag. After waiting in this line for about 25 minutes, I was directed to another line. By the time I got up to the an agent - they informed me I was too late by 10 minutes and would be missing my flight. I fly just about every other week for work and this has NEVER happened and would never happen with airlines like Jet Blue, American and Delta. Today I'm missing a very important day of work. In addition to all the costs associated with this flight, cab fares to/from the airport and hotel expenses are totaling just about $200. I will absolutely NEVER fly Spirit again."
