Entry restrictions
India has restricted entry to most foreign travelers until at least January 31. However, certain eligible foreign nationals are able to travel to India via Vande Bharat flights or third country flights.
Until January 7, India has restricted entry to travelers arriving from the UK.
Certain categories of Indian nationals and residents may enter the country on repatriation flights arranged by Ministry of Civil Aviation.
Nationals of Nepal and Bhutan may also enter the country.
Other exceptions exist for air cargo flights that carry goods for trade or essential goods and supplies, and their crew members, helpers, cleaners, etc. Travelers with an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card or booklet are eligible to enter the country, as are their minor children and spouses, or students attending an Indian institution, if one of the parents is a national of India or OCI card holder. Travelers may transit through India from a neighboring country if traveling via India to their country of residence.
The Indian Ministry of Home Affairs has issued new guidelines permitting certain categories of foreign nationals to travel to India on business. However it will require them to first obtain a fresh business or employment visa. For information categories and process, visit the Indian Bureau of Immigration website.
E-visas and tourist Visas are no longer valid.

Travelers may apply for an exemption from quarantine; to do so, they will need to apply using the self-reporting form and attach a medical certificate with a negative CCOVID-19 RT-PCR test result issued within 72 hours prior to departure.
All travelers must visit the New Delhi Airport website and submit a self-declaration form at least 72 hours prior to departure.
Quarantine requirements
All travelers will undergo a thermal screening on arrival and are required to undergo mandatory quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in India - 7 days in institutional quarantine and 7 days of home quarantine.
They may be required to provide contact details and be asked to download the Arogya Setu app.
Transiting rules
Travelers are not allowed to transit through Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata or Mumbai.

These things happen, I understand, but most upsetting was the fact that Qatar Airways provided very little information to those of us missing our flights. While on the plane, when those of us with short layovers mentioned that we may be late, we were told "you'll be fine - they hold the planes for a bit." When we deboarded the plane from New York, we ere wrangled into groups depending on our destinations. Many of us assumed that we were going to be taken to our next flights as we had been told they would be waiting for us. The airline rep in charge of my group refused to tell us any information, however, only admitting after we got confrontational with her that we had missed our flights. She then offered no information about what would happen to us, telling us we'd find out when we got to the rebooking counter. Very unprofessional. I was told that I would have to wait for another 24 hours for the next flight, necessitating that I would spend the night in Qatar. I was put up in a hotel that was decent, but again that offered very little in terms of customer service. We were given an $80 meal allowance, but despite me not using it, I was nickeled and dimed in other aspects to where I ended up paying $20 to help reschedule a flight that I had missed in my destination country. The whole ordeal was a nightmare and mostly due to poor communication and very cold, almost robotic interactions with the QA staff on the ground in Doha."

They tried to put a non English speaking passenger in exit row. I paid $25 to check a bag to find passengers getting free bag checking at gate."

Crew didn't do anything to alleviate our pain. They didn't even bother to check on us other than to serve food when the time is up. It was the worst 14 hours our family had to live in our entire life. Shame on Air India."
