Scores according to KAYAK customer reviews
Pros: "CAs are very kind."
Cons: "CA skipped me for snack Last years trip to Japan I experienced same they skipped me. So, I try to bring own snack next time."
Pros: "Love Air Canada. Great service and good entertainment"
Pros: "I flew through Vancouver from Boston on my way to Brisbane, Australia and back. I was nervous at first because of the 2 hour connection windows. This might be a testament to Vancouver Airport more than Air Canada, but the flight home after an initial 14 hour flight was pain free. Boarding was fast (the flight wasn't full) and we ended up pulling away from the terminal early. I slept most of the flight so I can't really comment on food. The entertainment was the same as when i left for Australia, which was ok. It had a decent variety to select from."
Pros: "I had room!"
Pros: "Pillow, blanket, food provided. Inexpensive flight. Great crew and smooth flight."
Pros: "The young kids really enjoyed the multi-player video games that were offered on the plane. The windows were really cool too! The amount of light/color coming from the windows were adjustable with the press of a button. It was the first flight for the younger kids, and they loved it!"
Pros: "There was good food and entertainment"
Cons: "I'd like better vegetarian options for food though"
Pros: "Flight was fine. Staff was fine. No complaints."
Cons: "Although the food was abundant and tasted good, it was rather heavy. Lots of starch (and chocolate!). That kind of food may be fun and satisfying, but it's not really the best thing for middle-aged adults who are sitting on an airplane for 10 hours! If you can work in more fruits and veggies or light desserts, that would be great! Regarding entertainment: We could not connect to the entertainment system, so we watched a DVD that we brought along with us."
Cons: "I don't have any complain about the flight. It was average or a little above average. I just couldn't sleep well probably because the head rest is too high or what. But I'm 5 feet 7. The pillow can be improved as well (firmer)."
Pros: "Nice plane, solid food."
Cons: "Waaaay too hot."
Cons: "While booking the tickets I was told that my luggage will be checked in till my final destination but I had to collect them at Narita airport. I had to cancel my plans of sight seeing at Tokyo downtown due to this."
Pros: "The flight crew were great and very accommodating."
Cons: "A majority of the passengers on flight either barely caught, or missed, their connecting flight due to this flight being so delayed."
Pros: "The crew was nice."
Cons: "Boarding was unorganized, one of the ladies was rude and I did not get window, even though I requested with enough time."
Cons: "no food no entertainment very bad management of boarding"
Cons: "I booked my flight from Vancouver to Kiev The first flight it's to Toronto then to Kiev.. and when Went to the counter in Kiev they said sorry but Turkish airline didn't send my booking to kanda airline so I missed all my flight schedule I didn't wait I bought another ticket to Kiev in the same date on Lufthansa airline And it cost me like 1945c$"
Pros: "The ciabatta buns served with the regular meals, looked lovely, as did the regular meat meals. Unfortunately, I ordered the Hindu Vegetarian meal."
Cons: "Usually the Hindu Vegetarian meals are quite nice, but these ones were not. I have eaten a lot of Indian and Middle Eastern food, and I could not identify what this was supposed to be. The basmati rice had the consistency of oatmeal. The first meal was tasteless and the second meal had too much hot spice, but still no flavour. The bread they gave with the meal was tiny and tasteless compared to the lovely ciabatta rolls served with the regular meals."
Pros: "The food was great, service was excellent, and entertainment selection was awesome."
Cons: "Would've appreciated more legroom, but the same can be said for just about any airline."
Pros: "Good boarding time, though the passengers were disorganized. It's not air Canada's fault. Even in the snow, we made good time to the destination."
Cons: "There was not enough room for many people's carry on items and staff did not help find space. Most of the passengers would not put their small bags under the seats so passengers with big bags had no choice but to give up foot space completely. Carry on limits should be better enforced."
Pros: "In flight Game of Thrones!!"
Cons: "The lines at YVR were horrendous."
Pros: "crew was helpful and nice, especially in the terminal which is hard for mom to get around. If you need a wheelchair remember to ask beforehand. We hadn't so we had to wait sometimes while they located one for us. As we had long layovers (so mom could rest) this wasn't a problem for us, but with shorter turn around times it could be an issue."
Cons: "people were rude. couldn't lean seat back and it was a red eye so I had no sleep for 25 hours. WAY too NOISY for a red-eye flight which also didn't help with rest."
Pros: "the accommodation of the carry on in the compartments, it is absolutely disturbing and dangerous; specially and such of huge plane like the one I flew. Passengers should have the right to have a least 1 registered for free luggage to avoid such of chaos, possible injuries and delays. i feel horrible for the flight attendants for such of task of carrying and moving so many luggages."
Cons: "The fact that traveling International for so many hours, I was treated like I was flying Domestic. No, food, no drinks. In the past airlines complained about cost of fuel, gas, but now is cheaper and we PASSANGERS never have any consideration flying. Another fact is the seatis are too small, I had to share my seat with two overweight women and they occupied part of my space, I was so uncomfortable, I requested for another seating and was not possible due to the fullness of the plain. I standed up many time not rubber and feel the heat of that person on my left side. overweight people should be suggested to buy double seating."
Pros: "Reaching my destination, that's the only thing I was happy about"
Cons: "The plane is old and seat are close to each others, it wouldn't hirt if they make extra space, afterall it's a long flight!"
Pros: "Aircraft was very comfortable and up to date"
Cons: "Both dinner and breakfast were so bad as to be a joke. Tasteless chicken on pasta with a miserable little salad for dinner. Breakfast far worse, the 'continental breakfast' being a slice of banana loaf or something similar in plastic film and a pathetically small yoghurt. Crew didn't even serve pour row coffee or tea, totally overlooked us. My next flight was with SAA to Johannesburg - infinitely better food and attitude. Not that I expect this eeview to make any imnpression on Air Canada. THey are beyond help and frankly I don't care as I won't fly with them again."
Pros: "Entertainment/Media Options"
Cons: "Uncomfortable; snacks are charged; flight was rocky"
Pros: "Same plane as the one I flew on the way to Toronto. It's a really nice plane."
Pros: "the crew was super nice. very friendly and caring. the entertainment was perfect. boarding was easy and timely."
Cons: "the seats offer little to no lumbar support. this was midigated a little with the pillow and blanket, it didnt really do much. for someone who has lower back issues, this was a big problem, a reason i am dreading my flight home. on top of that, it was my first time flying internationally, so i had no clue i had to hunt down my flight via flight time board."
Pros: "At $320usd per person per direction, you can't beat the price thanks to whatever magical gremlins Kayaks employs to fix prices for them...we flew Air Canada and we'e very pleased with their fleets new addition of 787 dream liners. Do yourself a favor and find a flight on this aircraft. From takeoff to landing, there was never a question about our safety and comfort, and the sleek, organic aesthetic of the dream liner somehow met a new standard for both ergonomy and tech/entertainment. I especially found the sub ports in my personal screen useful."
Cons: "Transatlantic flights are too long. Hurry up Science, magic me up some low earth orbit/sonic+ future jets already...Jaesus..."
Pros: "Good seats"
Cons: "Luggage was lost from Vancouver to Seattle with absolutely no communications and I had to chase it's whereabouts the next day"
Cons: "Too small for long flight. No big screens nor personal screens. You can get entertainment thru your own laptop, tablet, or smartphone, but selections are not very much. Very unsatisfied!"
Pros: "I liked that I was switched to Japan airlines. Things went smoother from there"
Cons: "Didn't get to fly the day I was supposed to"
Pros: "The plane, which was American-made. Smooth ride in the air, no baggage issues."
Cons: "The crying children in front of me, the hour and a half delay, and the late dinner service. Dinner came at 8:30, after staring at those with special meals eat and finish an hour before everyone else, they should wait with the rest of us. Breakfast was pretty lackluster. Their online app and check in is awful- they should hire new coders and UX designers to increase functionality."
Pros: "Comfortable, well maintained aircraft. Good entertainment. Friendly crew. Boarding process was well conceived. They separated seating zones into different queues, and turned back people who attempted to board out of order."
Cons: "Breakfast was underwhelming for an international flight. Dinner was just average. The crew seemed to have trouble responding to things like...people using restrooms late during the descent, passengers making themselves a little too "at home" and thereby disturbing their neighbors, and repeated chimes due to an errant elbow on a call button...the little things. They are things you don't notice when a crew is highly attentive, as you find on Cathay Pacific, Lufthansa, or Air New Zealand. The crew were friendly, but not quite in charge."
Cons: "Missed the flight"
Cons: "Wasn't offered a drink or food for 2 hours into the flight. Then when they reached me, all the options were sold out. I had crackers and hummus for lunch. I am pregnant and travelling alone with a toddler and was told by a flight attendant they were suppose to help me lift my bag. Nothing major, but left an unpleasant experience compared to Westjet."
Pros: "Always seems to happen with some leg of an Air Canada flight....and they couldn't find my luggage, so delayed my boarding at Customs, too."
Cons: "Baggage misplaced"
Pros: "Flight crew was great. Aircraft was great."
Cons: "Food could have been a little better."
Pros: "Leg room adequite."
Cons: "Only beverages served, there wasn't the usual snack."
Cons: "I almost missed my connecting flight due to AC delaying departure in Vancouver. I received no solid information from the stewardess on the flight on whether the connecting plane in Toronto would wait. I mean, really. There was never any explanation as to why the Vancouver flight was late either."
Pros: "I liked that the flight was not completely full. we had a hard touchdown"
Cons: "1. These days, I have come to expect a complimentary in-flight entertainment system on international flights. This flight had nothing whatsoever. This is ok, but the customer should be warned when making the flight reservation so they can choose whether to bring an ipad along. 2. Food and service were not as good as a recent Air Canada return trip from Roma to Vancouver which had a first rate crew, food, and complimentary beer. 3. The plane was much older than the recent return trip I had and the air was much more dry."
Pros: "Fairly quick! Staff were really nice and helpful."
Cons: "Flight was delayed one hour. Very uncomfortable seating arrangements for a long-distance flight."
Pros: "New interior felt clean and the new entertainment system felt responsive with a large amount of movies and shows to view"
Cons: "seats were very hard with reduced legroom after you recline. Lavatories were far and few. Food was mediocre with 3 meals, I had to ask for extras."
Cons: "Pretty terrible for an international airline, charge for drinks, earbuds, no inflight entertainment without pre downloading their crappy app, which was full of ancient, terrible movies. Lots of stuff broken on plane, reading light would turn on/off randomly. Very annoying. Charger did not work, had to use the row next to us"
Pros: "Friendly crew very helpful. Not as loud as the last flight."
Cons: "So many people crammed into a small space. Needed more leg room and shoulder room."
Pros: "Very good individual entertainer system in seat backs of new boeing dream liner."
Cons: "Called in advance re special veg meal but they didn't have it at mealtime."
Pros: "I always like to fly Air Canada for long international flights. Everyone has their own TV, where you can choose what movie/TV show you want to watch, or what game you want to play. You can also pause, fast forward, and rewind at any point, which is not always possible on other airlines. The food was also very tasty. We were served two full meals and a sandwich. The alcohol was free, which was lovely too. The staff were nice and there was plenty of leg room. Overall, it was a great flight."
Pros: "Everything went smoothly from beginning to end."
Cons: "It was a packed flight and it felt like I couldn't breath on the flight at times. I was stuck between two very big people."
Pros: "The crew members were fabulous."
Cons: "My luggage did not arrive when I did. I did not see my personal belongings for three days. When the second leg of my journey was cancelled, I was book on a flight with a short connection. Therefore, my luggage remained in Canada while I went on to Japan."
Pros: "Exit seat. Leg room"
Cons: "Breakfast too small. Plane leaked on me during take off and landing. 3 hour delay on plane before take off. Stewardesses ignored people looking for water."
