Cons: "Staff were unhelpful and ran out of many food items by the time we were served - meaning that there wasn’t anything available for us to eat as we don’t eat eggs. The check-in was stressful and staff were keen to help - unprofessional and unsatisfactory."

Cons: "The complimentary headset breaks easily. Tray table was broken and they can't fix it. Very small bathrooms, knees almost touch the door when sitting down. Food selection for dinner ran out quickly, resulting in only 2 choices and one is hot spicy, so basically only one choice. All beverages are given out in small cups, even water is given out in small cups increments (finish in one gulp), they don't even give out small bottles of water. No complimentary packet (eye shades, socks etc.) , not even a barf bag for collecting trash."

Cons: "You lost our luggage. We were able to pick up our luggage after the Sydney flight, but they never made it to Minneapolis. What I don't understand is why we were not able to get boarding passes and seat assignments when we did our check-in in Sydney? Why is that so hard? Also, when we were getting our boarding pass in LAX it was so confusing when it asked for checked bags. Our bags were already on a belt going to who knows where - were we supposed to check "yes"? If we had a boarding pass this would not have been an issue."

Pros: "Superior comfort, class, and style. The crew was friendly and accommodating, the pilots kept you up to date with flight info and departure/arrival time (and kept the seat belt light off almost the entire trip), the food was delicious and offered throughout, and the entertainment was top notch. Seats were comfortable (we had bulkhead row Space+ and they were worth every cent for the international long haul from LAX-BNE and SYD-LAX) and everyone got a pillow/blanket. We got premium noise-canceling headsets, water, and a little care kit including an eye mask and earplugs and a pen to fill out your travel documents. The overhead bin space was huge and we got two free checked bags of luggage up to 50lbs each (I don't know of that's standard or not, or if it came with Space+ seats). SERIOUSLY the best airline."

They were not terribly busy at the time and I politely asked as I was unsure which line to be in. The flight attendants (only from ORF to Detroit) also were unfriendly with an attitude. Just simple stuff. I asked for extra ice, she thought I said no ice. Simple mistake, no big deal but when I explained that I actually wanted extra ice she was perturbed!"

Pros: "Quick flight and we flew over Yosemite (where we recently hiked). Also, the free in-flight entertainment is such a nice addition! My wife and I had the seat open next to us, so it was very nice to have extra room in our row!"

They are so strict with liquids that all baby foods had to put in a separate bin and we had to go to another security point for clearance. It took 2.5 hours to go through all that, that is with wheelchair priority! Boarding was horrible at the gate."

Cons: "Even though we had booked this flight in September we were never able to choose a seat for this flight. We kept trying and the only way we could pick a seat months and weeks ahead was if we bought an upgrade. We had already spent over $1000 to fly to Paris each and did not want to buy an upgrade. We just wanted the assignment of a seat. When we got closer to the date we were told that we would get a seat assignment at check in. At check in we were told we would get a seat assignment at the airport. At the airport we were told we would get a seat assignment at the GATE! At the GATE the attendant had difficulty finding our seats and finally found them with the help of another attendant. This adding extreme stress to a trip that was planned in September and should have been a pleasureable experience. Our seats were not together and we then had to go on the plane and ask other travelers to change their seats in order to be near each other. This was not our job! We ended up near each other but not together. Then when we arrived in Paris we noticed that our suitcases had been tagged STAND BY!!!!!! We were glad that we did not see that at the Philadelphia airport because it would have added even more stress to a long anticipated pleasure trip to Paris. Next time we will make sure that the tickets we are purchasing (FINNAIR) have nothing to do with American Airlines."

Unlike basically every other airline (including airlines from the developing world) the plane did not have a personal entertainment system which is rather vexing considering the flight is so long. The decoration of the plane looked old and worn. The crew were more interested in getting the job done quickly than properly."

Cons: "Our flight from Chicago to Paris was managed by Finnair, but flown through American Airlines. This was the second disappointing flight on American Airlines. Our first flight was repeatedly delayed over three hours and then canceled. Everyone had to take a new flight the next day on the same plane which was scheduled to be fixed that morning prior to departure. We boarded the plane 45 minutes late and then were informed that the part needed to fix the plan had just cleared customs. After another hour of waiting on the plane, we taxied to the runway and the returned to the gate because another part needed to be fixed on the plane. We waited another hour and a half on the plane before finally taking off. Upon our arrival at Chicago O'Hare, we waited on the tarmac for 30 minutes before the ground crew parked our plane. Which brings me to this flight from Chicago O'Hare to Charles de Gaulle in Paris. Our flight was delayed for maintenance repeatedly for 2 hours and then a new plane had to be brought over. By the time we boarded we were almost four hours behind schedule due to a logbook problem once we boarded the new plane. The plane itself was small - the size of a domestic flight - and VERY cramped. On both of the flights we had no TVs in the headrest. This is something that I have always had in economy class on international flights. It was by far the most uncomfortable flight I have ever been on. Because of the delay, we had to reschedule one of our two connecting flights. I was assured that our bags would still arrive at our final destination. When we finally reached our final destination, we found out that our bags had been lost along the way - most likely because of the flight being rescheduled."

Pros: "Staff was kind, flight itself generally went smoothly. The boarding process itself went fairly quickly, and I was able to disembark within minutes of landing."
Cons: "This Finnair flight was operated by American Airlines, but American Airlines did not notify me about the change in flight number until I called in a panic the night before because I was unable to check in. The plane was nearly 2 hours late departing from Chicago O'Hare with no explanation given. 1hr and 45 minutes is a long time to sit without going anywhere. Food was incredibly uninspiring and the staff was kind, but generally seemed distracted. I asked for a beverage at one point, but the flight attendant was too busy trying to get the passenger next to me who was passed out on sleeping pills to put the window shade down to give it to me. American Airlines is one of the only carriers left that has not upgraded to individual entertainment units for transatlantic flights and so the entertainment was like something straight out of Mad Men. Probably my worst flying experience to date."

Cons: "International flight delayed 2 hours for multiple mechanical issues. 45 minutes before boarding, we were given a $20 voucher for food and drink (which we couldn't spend on snacks, just big meals, which was undesirable so late at night). Flight itself played Mission Impossible 4, then a kid's cartoon, then nothing the remaining 5 hours. Very uncomfortable for those who can't sleep on planes."

Cons: "We waited for 3 1/2 hours in the plane before taking off. We ended up landing with a 3-hour delay."

Pros: "Aircraft was so old.Paying $1,000 for that, when any other airline uses decent aircrafts, is just unacceptable."

Cons: "no food on the first flight no private tv they tell you can have wi fi entertainment but you have to pay for it the staff was rude tell also told me my cary on luggage could not be taken on board because there was no more space so i had to cary all my things for two flights but once i came in into the plane there was plenty of space. the seats had a very low head rest"

Cons: "ALL my print outs say FINNAIR, your asking about my FINNAIR flight, all says FINNAIR, so I go to the airport and wait 30 precious minutes at the FINNAIR counter to check in ( there was no self check in computers) only to be told Ah, you are not on FINNAIR, you are on American and must go to the American counter. I was given my itinerary back and rushed to American and began to self check in only to realize in the rush the woman had not given me back my passport. So, I rushed back to get it, loosing more time, only to find she had given it to another agent at another American counter but not at the check in area, and it took more time to find out who had my passport. I made my flight, but if ALL says FINNAIR, how am I supposed to know that I should instead be looking at fine print to discover which airline I am actually flying on and waste time!!!!!!! It should state CLEARLY that I need to check in at the American counter. In flight entertainment was really poor in comparison to other airlines on international flights."

Pros: "Good footroom in Main Cabin Extra."
Cons: "Delayed 5 hours. No power or individual VOD at seat."

Pros: "I had tsa which started the trip in a wonderful way! On time. Captain seemed nice and competent. The crew nice too."
Cons: "I flew American not finnair. Very confusing. I paid 65$ for a better seat. It was further forward but not worth the money and the others around me I don't think they paid extra. No movies. Couldn't see the screen."

Cons: "This flight had about 6 different airlines listed. I was supposedly flying Finnair. Make no mistake, this was an American Airlines flight. On an old plane with crummy entertainment, uninspired food, and uncomfortable seats. But we did get here."

Cons: "Sat on Tarmac for 1.5 hours. Apparently something was wrong with the plane. And then we waited for a mani tenancy log to get signed. Typical American Airlines garbage."

Cons: "....but departure wa delayed over an hour"

Pros: "Boarding process was smooth."
Cons: "Cramped seats, at least it was a short flight."

Cons: "Late departure for that most meaningless of excuses - the late arriving aircraft. And so late arriving at destination. On arrival at Berlin, there was also noone at the gate to allow us to leave the plane. All in all meant missing pickup time at the airport, and extra cost."

Pros: "Guess what, we took off and arrived on time!"
Cons: "Attitude of staff, cleanliness of cabin, actual cod fish (not tilapia/suay) etc. For dinner. Good Swedish scotch too"

Cons: "Boarding chaotic and Newark airport is very inconvenient. No signs to terminal B and the sky train with the compartment system is not very functional. I am tall person and sitting in the middle of the middle row was very inconvenient wilh not enough leg space."

Cons: "SAS has introduced hand luggage measurement and weighing at checkin, for a maximum of 17.5 lbs or 8 kg. SAS does not care if you have flown on another transatlantic carrier, which allows more than 8 kg. Then you need to start emptying your hand luggage at checkin. The whole checkin process was a big mess, the contract employees eg. at Heathrow do not help much (they probably do not do this to any other airline). SAS staff does not remind you to take your IDs and passport, medications etc. from your hand luggage, which is then checkedin luggage as opposed to hand luggage. It is obvious that transatlantic passengers have more hand luggage than many local passengers."

Pros: "Really appreciated how helpful everyone was, from check-in at Newark to arrival. The entertainment system worked well, too. Aside from the two issues I describe below, SAS seems to be extremely efficient and well-run."
Cons: "There was some mix-up - not sure where - but I did requested a vegetarian meal and it wasn't in the system. I'd also requested an aisle seat due to a hip issue and was told I'd have one - but when I went to check in, I'd been put in a center seat in a bulkhead. I was able to change but it was the last row of the plane. We the gate they were able to move me up at the last minute - but this all could've been much easier."

Pros: "Efficient processing of passengers onto aircraft."

Pros: "The crew was nice, the plane was large and had many bathrooms. The seats were comfortable enough and there was a good selection of movies to watch."
Cons: "The boarding process was completely disorganized and hectic. The woman making the announcements on the plane was extremely soft spoken and the PA system was static-y so I could neither hear nor understand any of the announcements. The refrigeration system for the food also broke down on the plane so we weren't fed our second meal. Instead, they chose the cheapest and most unappealing snack of plain almonds to give us. Despite confirming our luggage situation with us at the first airport repeatedly (because of our connecting flight) SAS still temporarily lost our baggage when we arrived at our final destination and caused us to stay an additional hour at the airport after already having spent an exhausting day travelling."

Cons: "Haven't made it yet due to late flight/missed connection"

Pros: "It was a normal flight, only a few hours long. The crew was very nice."
Cons: "Once again, just some leg, and arm space issues but that's to be expected."

Cons: "I missed the refreshments, if any were served at all. Granted I was tired and probably dosed off during that part of the flight."

Cons: "From the time we reached the airport until we got to the gate was 90 minutes. SAS systems for checking baggage by machine sucks. My wife's number on the booking reference didn't work in the machine Thus we waited in line for 20 minutes to get a boarding pass, but didn't get the baggage tags for her luggage. Another line. SAS overall sucks."

Pros: "Good leg room. Tasty meals. A good variety of entertainment options."

Cons: "The crew forgot to start serving the final meal until 40 minutes before we landed which resulted in them nearly throwing food at people so that they could quickly get through the plane and sit again before descent. I was not able to choose my seat and was seated in the back of the plane. Consequently this meant that every parent on the plane with two-year-olds decided that the best place to let them stretch their little legs was back by me. I work with small children so I understand that when they reach that age all they want to do is kick and punch, but I didn't want to end my vacation by having half a dozen two-year-olds punch my leg or try to crawl under my chair as they wandered nearby. I still have bruises."

Cons: "I could not check in online for this leg of the trip and so could not simply go to a baggage drop line. The company handling checkin dealt with 4 or 5 airlines. It was not clear from iceland air website that i had to checkin with SAS. First stood in line for iceland air then had to go stand in line again for company handling SAS. Spent way too much time online doing this. Otherwise trip was fine."

Pros: "Wide seats with excellent leg room in exit row- a bottle of water waiting at or seats-- we love the two seat configuration --attendants ready to serve any need with a smile."
Cons: "Bought our tickets from Kayak and as a result had a very difficult time upgrading seats."

Pros: "I arrived a little more than an hour ahead of the flight (traffic delay), but security lines were very short and there was still time to get to the gate well ahead of departure if I had been given the opportunity. However, there were no agents at the counter; and a nearby representative said they had left two hours before flight."
Cons: "When I called SAS before the flight departed, I was offered the option to rebook for an extra $1,300. Since I wanted to think about my options, I was told I could decide later that evening and still do that. When I tried to call a few hours later, their offices were closed (8 pm)and by the next day my return flight had also been cancelled. This seems to me like a budget airline these days."

The staff especially in Chicago where we began this awful experience couldn't care less about our situation. Then AIr France lost our luggage and provided no help in locating them. We had to rely on folks who had friends working in Zagreb Airport to locate them. Air France is incompetent, insensitive and unprofessional. If you have an important trip avoid Air France - they treat you like captives not customers."
