The United States has restricted the entry of all foreign nationals who have passed through or have been in China, Iran, Most European Countries (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican City), the UK, Ireland and Brazil in the past 14 days.

B1 crew crewmembers that are engaged in lightering, Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) activity, wind farm activity, private air/sea crew and other similar crewmember activities;
Students with an F-1 or M-1 visa and their F-2 and M-2 dependents, if they arrive from or have been in Ireland, the UK or Schengen Area in the past 14 days.
Starting on January 26, all travelers (including US citizens and transit passenger) must present a negative COVID-19 viral or antigen test result issued 72 hours prior to departure or have an evidence of having contracted and recovered from COVID-19 prior to boarding the plane.
US citizens and permanent residents arriving from the UK must present a medical certificate with a negative COVID-19 PCR or antigen test result issued within 72 hours prior to departure.
Travelers returning to the US are advised to stay home as much as possible, avoid being around people and consider getting tested for COVID-19 after returning from travel and participated in higher risk activities.

As the result, we have to spend 1.5 hours in the baggage claim area, because "there are no baggage agents in SFO available". THAT WAS THE WHOLE REASON WE ONLY HAD CARRY-ONS! By far, one of the worst flight experience in the last 10 year."
Cons: "Air Canada shares a trait with many other incompetent organizers: everything is fine if nothing goes wrong, but there are no contingency plans in place in case something goes wrong. So, things get more and more delayed. Can't you predict roughly when the plane is going to land (once it is in the air!) and arrange for some gate to be open, so that we don't have to sit on the ground for 45 minutes once it has landed, for example? People who know how to organize are ordinarily capable of doing that. Furthermore, the lack of transparency is really frustrating: we just sit on the tarmac with no indication of how long we're going to be there, and the estimates of the delays are completely wrong when we're given them."

When I got on there were at least 8 spots for bags right around my seat. Some customers after me still had their bags. And I had to wait an extra 30 minutes at the baggage claim waiting. When I asked the lead flight attendant to get the name of the gate agent before we left she said she would do her best but then forgot. She also tried to defend the gate agent by explaining the flight was full and why I should have been glad they took my bag."

Cons: "Air cananda made me go crazy... They didn't prepared anything after I missed my flight. Because of immigration. They just said to me that was not their fault. But you know, I arrived at air port 5am. My flight time was 8am. I asked aircanada clerks to get into gate quckily. But they had me wait for a long time, and they said everybody was waiting, so that's not problem. But when I got into gate at 8:45, My plane already had gone. And I went to Air canada service center, I had argued for 5hours... because they just prepared my flight from Toronto to San Francisco. They didn't care about Connected air plane was Asiana. So I Had to call three company.. Asiana, Kayak, air canada... that was horrible time. Air canada didn't want to have responsibility about missing air plane. That's why I had to contact with Asiana...the first time Asiana didn't want to prepare air plane for free... I had to try to explain my situation and problem three times.... Finally I got a ticket for free from Asiana. I could departure at 9pm from Toronto. I stayed in Pearson air port for 15hours... because of Air canada's GOOD!! customer service v^^v..... I will never use Air canada !!"

Annoying. Flight was delayed 4 hours with minimal updates and no food voucher. Did not get my flight off to a good start."
Pros: "We found out that United had canceled the flight while in line about to undergo security screening, leading to mass confusion on the part of the screening agents on even where to send us. The next several hours were anxiety filled as we try to hop onto other flights going to our destination as we were stuck in the US area of the Vacuver airport, as we could neither leave the airport or had a way out. In the end, we had to be rerouted to a different airport and take another connection, which in standard United style was delayed by yet another 4 hours. And upon arrival, all of our bags were lost, not unsurprisingly. The worst part was that for the next 4 days, no one knew where the bags were and we were without our checked bags for 5 days until they finally arrived. As an experienced traveler, this was the worst flight I had ever taken and will never fly United or Air canada ever again."

Cons: "The plane was a small plane and we had to disembark on the tarmac. There were two attendants with wheelchairs but they didn't have my name so I walked on. The flight attendant called to me and said to wait. One of the attendants came up with a wheelchair and said he would take me. Unfortunately, a steep ramp had to be used to get into the airport building. He asked another worker to help him and all the way up the ramp I had to listen to comments about "good thing they had eaten their Wheaties" and "they were getting a good workout." I know that I am not a small person, but these ongoing comments were rude and insulting. When we got into the gate the attendant told me that he didn't have my name on his list and had to call for permission to take me through the airport. I waited and he came back and said he couldn't take me, but if I could wait someone else could come for me. I had waited enough already and suffered their rude comments, so I said no thanks and walked slowly through the airport. This experience has left me with a bad feeling for the airline and its personnel. I believe their staff could use sensitivity training at the very least!"

They also will do everything in their power to not give award miles to pattern airline clubs. It doesn't matter if you give them your United number and even register your United number with the flight for United. They will apply it to the Lufthansa Club and pretend it was just in the state and never actually give you the miles no matter how many times you try. This is not from one experience with Lufthansa / Austrian. I've had this experience many times with every flight I take with these terrible Airlines. I would never fly lifthansa unless it's at least $200 cheaper than any of their competitors."

Range of local overnight hotels is more aimed at smoking business travelers from China....not some must Americans and Europeans. Transfers to and from airport can be unreliable...especially for very early or late flights. Coris hotel is a safe but expensive choice...with excellent staff and transit vans."

Eventually, the wife moved and there was an empty seat that was then filled with my neighbor who put her feet in my lap when she sprawled out. I did not sleep for the entire 10 hours."

We were told at the boarding gate that the flight was full when we asked about upgrades, but the economy plus section was almost empty once we were on. I don't understand the reasoning for lying about the flight being full. If you won't sell us an upgrade, just say so."

No one speaks English except for "hello" and "goodbye". The meals are dog food. The seats are absolutely claustrophobic. Worst decision to try and save money by going through Air China. SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY AND GO WITH SOMEONE ELSE. All four flights with them were consistently terrible. Stay away. It's not worth it....."

Seemed inconvenient without any purpose stated. Also in one section of the plane it smelled strongly of an uncleaned bathroom."

Therefore on a 12 hr flight if you want to sleep (who doesn't) and you would like water, you have to have a little cup without a top to be on your tray table or in the easily hit with your knee cupholder. I ended up drinking my small amount of water quickly so I wouldn't end up with an accidental spill onto my feet. Not good foresight by a major airline."

Pros: "Overall the service of the flight crew was good, seats were comparable to other economy class flights on other airlines. Boarding was easy, and meals were good and served at appropriate times."
Cons: "Our connecting flight between Beijing and another city in China was cancelled, there was no Air China staff at our airport in the US to handle the rescheduling (the check-in counter staff actually worked for another airline) and so we could only try to reschedule when we got to Beijing airport. There was a staff member at the gate to give us directions to the general check-in area, but then once we got to the area there were no signs directing us where to go. We were waiting in line for half an hour before I learned that we were supposed to be in a different line to first reschedule our flights (a 40minute wait), then wait in the line we were originally in to check-in (yet another 40minutes in line). This on top of waiting more than 1 hour in the customs line. Staff at the airport counters in China were brusque, and they seemed understaffed as the lines were often very long. On the flight, the touch screen entertainment system as buggy and would sometimes freeze, although the selection of entertainment was decent."

Airplane was very uncomfortable with few movie options. Flight attendants were rude on every flight I took with air China. I guess this was an improvement as the entertainment system was broken on my way there. My luggage was lost both ways of travel. In trying to report lost luggage, the desk attendant was rude and not helpful. She wasted about 30 minutes of my time just to tell me she couldn't help me. She should have told me that initially when I described my problem to her and she didn't listen. This delay caused me to miss my connecting flight. Overall I had a terrible experience and will never fly Air China ever again!!!"

Cons: "They did not give us enough water for a 12 hour flight. They only came around four times – once before the two meals and once after – and they only filled up the small cup about half way each time. I left the plane dehydrated after the first flight. On the return trip, I bought a bottle of water in the terminal to take on the plane, but they confiscated it at the gate. I've never had that happen before, especially since I bought it past security in the Beijing airport. Since they took it, I probably annoyed the flight attendants with how much I asked for water, but I didn't really care."

The flight attendants didn't speak enough english to communicate. My baggage was lost. The customer service at baggage claim was rude, and it was a very confusing process finding the bag."

And I was given rice porridge with boiled vegetables which had no salt or sugar. The worst food I have eaten in my entire life! 3. The flight attendants showed up only during meals. 4. I am never going to travel in Air China again and will also advise others not to. This has been my worst flight experience!"
