Everything was excellent

Size of seating to & from Japan was exceptionally small compared to US flights (Jet Blue & Alaska). Also, the food from Japan to US was not good.

If they had fruits as snacks that would have been nice

Flight attendants perfect as always. Business class checked bag took 45 minutes to arrive.

Excellent service, the food was delicious and the inflight entertainment full of options for varied taste.

Well, I didn’t like much. The staff didn’t have any beverages except for coffee and water and they never came by. The food just sucked. There was no entertainment at all.

Getting off

Pros: "The whole Business experience on SQ"
Cons: "During the same trip I discovered 2 different arrangements of the Business Class cabin on Singapore Airlines A350, SQ469 CMB-SIN, and SQ036 SIN-LAX. On the SQ036, I occupied seat 15 A (mono, aisle-window): I did not understand the reasoning behind this layout: Seat facing straight the front of the aircraft, but not enough space to stretch the legs, and limited height for the footrest, feet getting hurled against a ceiling very quickly, and also footrest only on one side = one foot. The deep cavity, that is probably meant to house the lie-flat disposition, is at a 45° angle with the general direction of the seat. I am 77 and not in any way a contortionist. I decided that the best course of action was to remain seated for the duration of the 14:30 hours, flight without extending my legs. Maybe the crew could have explained how the passenger is supposed to fit into that weird design, but I did not ask, afraid that the demonstration might reawaken chronic shoulder and hip pain. I would be glad to read (not test) how this configuration is supposed to convey the sense of comfort expected from a Business Class ticket. It did nothing of the kind for me."

Cons: "Plane condition: Cosmetic plastic panel below monitor and seat back pocket on Seat 31E fell off when foot rest was lowered; had previously been secured by adhesive tape. Panel removed by crew. In-flight entertainment system: Persistent intermittent loss of sound while listening to movie or TV program. Food: Tried to use "Book the Cook" feature touted by Singapore's website. Was unable to get on site for that purpose. The last try a message appeared (late September) that site was being "rebuilt." On the flight, there was no menu of choices; we were offered 3 vaguely worded choices which boiled down to beef, chicken or vegetables. Those appeared in not particularly appetizing forms and combinations--P.S., we like east and southeast Asian cooking and had just spent 3 weeks in Japan. Failure to provide information about possible delays due to WRG deplaning location at LAX: Although we are frequent fliers to and from LAX, we'd never heard of the WRG. It would have been helpful if the crew had informed us upon arrival that there could possibly be a wait on the plane as buses were used to transport us approximately 1/2 mile to TBIT. Generally: We chose Singapore because of its reputation for excellence. Belying the name of the class, both Turkish AL and Air NZ treated Premium Economy passengers as "junior" business class. Singapore treated us as coach with a roomier cabin and seating pitch."

Cons: "First experience with Singapore where the crew made a negative impression. As soon as the plane pulled away from the terminal, crew members seemed rushed and frantic, literally running back and forth from Economy Premium to the galley gathering items. Approximately every 7-10 minutes, crew members would be running back and forth next to my seat with heavy foot steps, which would wake me up. I also noticed that certain crew members were shouting at passengers to get their attention instead of lowering themselves to be heard. One flight attendant almost spilled orange juice on me because she turned around too fast trying to serve drinks. I'm not sure if they were short-staffed, or if it was the influence of a certain crew boss, but something was definitely wrong."

Pros: "Check in and boarding were flawless. The flight left about one hour late. The seats in coach are getting smaller and smaller. I got an aisle seat to have a little extra room (I'm 6'1") only to get hit big time by the food cart (they did apologize). The food was plentiful, but mediocre at best. The flight attendants were working hard, but we're abrupt and tired. Overall, I have three stars, when in the past, flying SA was always a five star experience. It got me back home though. :)"
Pros: "What did I like??? Um, EVERYTHING! First off I got a great price under $850 round trip to NRT from LAX was a steal! They let you check two large suit cases plus a carry on and a personal item. That all FREE!!! I travel pretty light but it was great to know they don't Nickle and dime you for bags or anything else for that matter. Staff looks amazing and treats you first class even when your in economy. They are so polite and really genuinely want to give you a above and beyond experience. And they over achieve at it! They meals are great and very satisfying. The planes are big and roomy even in economy seats. On our return flight we had a brand new plane which had a sleek touch screen monitor and controller. There mad tons of media available (articles, language games, games, movies, tv shows and more) with USB ports to charge devices on each seat. Plus 10inch personal monitors. Earbuds were included free of charge, aswell as socks toothbrush and tooth paste. They have is two big meals on our direct flight (awesome that they have direct flights). Plus, they offered free snacks too and gave us a full can of soda vs. a small cup. They come through several times offering coffee, tea, water and snacks. All free of charge. This was my first time flying Singapore Airlines and I loved it!!! I wish Everyone was this amazing! Norwegian Airlines was the opposite as far as charging for everything! Had to pay each stop for any luggage ($100 per checked bag). No meals free or charge. They wanted money for everything! And yea a skimpy sandwich was $9.00 :(."

Cons: "They kept telling us before the inflight meal that there may not be enough food. And “sorry”. Luckily there was enough for my partner and I, but it was unsettling. Most importantly we found our luggage ransacked when we arrived at our destination. There were zip ties wrapped around both our suitcases that were cutting into the fabric. When we opened our luggage we found numerous items missing and broken. We will be filling a complaint with the airline as well as a claim with travel insurance. Finally, I will do my best to avoid connecting through Beijing airport. Most restaurants didn’t start serving food until 11:30am and our next flight boarded at that time. We arrived at 6am and we were starving. So our only real option was soup."

Cons: "I was given permission to have priority boarding because of my son. When I advised the ticket agent of this at the gate she attempted to deny us pre-boarding even though I explained I was given permission. When I wouldn't back down she let us in reluctantly. Then she proceeded tell an additional security check right before the doors to check me because I was suspicious. She followed this will telling them to check me thoroughly and slowly. This made me even madder because I was the only one they did this to. Everyone else that was randomly (randomly I might add because it is supposed to be random) got swiped with a little wipe and was let through. I had to take articles of clothing off and have all by carry on bags gone through. Even my 6 year old sons whose bag I was carrying because he couldn't. This set off my son by the way who doesn't do well with the stress of boarding because of all the people (which is why we needed to pre-board the plane). So I had to have a friend leave with him to board the plane and couldn't be there for him because of this one agents problem of me not doing what she said and standing up for myself and my family. Oh, and by the way I was very respectful when speaking with her and their could have been no confusion between the language as I was speaking to her in Chinese."

Going through security was horrible and I was stopped again after going through the gate for a second inspection. Food was nasty too."

Horrible experience at the airport with lackluster WiFi that can't even load simple Facebook messenger. Our loved ones waited at LAX with no updates whatsoever for ~9 hrs."

Cons: "The departure out of Beijing was delayed some 1.5 hours because of one person who apparently left his passport near the gate prior to boarding. It was a full flight. I was just stunned that they would inconvenience hundreds of people whose schedules, including mine, were affected by their decision. May be it was a policy issue. But the crew didn't explain it very well, seemed more sympathetic towards the individual. While that was a kind solution to that one individuals but I wondered about the judgement of the crew. It was very frustrating for the rest of the people waiting onboard. Also this was the first time booking through because it seemed the cheapest but the hidden (additional) cost was in the seat selection stage afterwards. Kinda misleading."

Cons: "First time flying Air China - it was cheap and I mistaken it for China Airlines. Newer seats with touch screen TV, but the seating, screen and tray table were dirty and not properly wiped down. Lack of entertainment - no new movies, just a bunch of old released. Food was ok, minimal drink options. At time very difficult to understand crew members. It was the cheapest flight, and now I know why. The flight back to the US was significantly better than the flight from LAX to Beijing. That flight there was in an old Boeing with old dirty uncomfortable seats that I had to first drape with a blanket before sitting down and extremely dirty tray area that I scrubbed down with some wet wipes myself. The only saving grace was that it was an empty flight and I had the entire row to myself. Worst, we had a 7-hour delay in Beijing where the ground members did not speak English and could not give anyone an explanation as to why there was a delay. My family in Thailand came to the airport twice because they went back home the first time since they were waiting for too long and the airline could not give them an estimate of when the flight would take off. Never flying Air China again. Would recommend spending more a little more and fly EVA air or something else."

Pros: "I was extremely pleased with the flight attendants. They were excellent at all times. Very professional and friendly. I was particularly surprised at their approach to any passenger who could potentially cause problems for the flight or other passengers. I'm American and to be frank, we are total jerks in flight. You tell an American to put away their mobile device and as soon as you turn your back they're back at it. Americans in general are unreasonable people. The flight attendants' approach to solving problems before they have an opportuniy to become problems was a sight to see, friendly, non-confrontational. They brought beverages around at regular intervals which was very comforting. Also, not only were blankets and pillows at every seat before takeoff, but they were fairly decent. Very comfortable. On a US carrier you can expect to be charged extra for any little thing, and so you don't even bother to ask for it. On Air China you don't have to worry about it."
Cons: "I had my iPad so entertainment wasn't a problem, but checking out the listings there was inadequate entertainment for a twelve hour flight for any passenger who didn't bring their own as I did. On my twelve hour flight from Beijing to Los Angeles, they only had one meal. And this was after the flight had been delayed. I couldn't understand why they thought it was OK to provide only one meal for a twelve hour flight."
Cons: "I had a medical emergency that developed in the first part of feb. this resulted in the amputation of my right leg. we contacted air china they requested medical records which we supplied. They are refusing to supply a credit or refund kayak. Kayak is going to be included in the FAA complaint and lawsuit following on this"

Cons: "Every flight was late. The staff was unprofessional and not at all helpful to my friend who was traveling with a broken leg. We needed a wheel chair for him so we could race to our connection in Beijing.... they wouldn't give us one and kept bickering amongst themselves, so he had to walk on his crutches all the way to the gate... only to find out they changed the gate because our plane was broken. Only they didn't tell us that, they just kept saying... "you can't board". I could go on and on but I am still too exhausted from the experience."

Cons: "The ticketing agents in San Francisco were very rude in the check in process. No online check in or Kiosks so you have to talk to a rude person. Then the same people go board the plane which started to board at the same time it is supposed to leave (its a 747 so there is a lot of people it is not a 10 min board) this makes it very difficult if you have a connecting flight. Every flight that I took with them (4 total) left late and my luggage did not arrive in LA on my way back to the USA. Their baggage office was not helpful and when I tried to call them over the next several days they never answered or responded to messages left on the machine or via email. The in flight is good on the ground it is terrible."

Cons: "Traveling from Bangkok we were required to go through security twice more at Beijing from some reason, and then again prior to boarding our carry-ons were checked again and all water/liquids taken from us. This became a problem because after the initial meal and drink service there was no service for more than six hours. For at 12 hour flight only two meals were offered. The flight attendants were scarce and unwilling to help people, even closing the curtains to their work areas. My girlfriend is on medication and shouldn't become dehydrated so I was forced to "acquire" a bottle of water from the service area when the attendant left. The food was atrocious, far worse than when we flew from San Francisco to Beijing for some reason. I believe the crew was understaffed and tired. Overall it was extremely disappointing and I will do my best never to fly with them again, or through Beijing airport."
