Members of the US Armed Forces, spouses, and children of members of the US Armed Forces;
Travelers with invitation of the USA government for a purpose related to the containment/mitigation of the Coronavirus (COVID-19);
Travelers with documents issued by the US Department of Homeland Security, US Customs and Border Protection, or US Department of State indicating that the traveler is exempt from the restriction;
B1 crew crewmembers that are engaged in lightering, Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) activity, wind farm activity, private air/sea crew and other similar crewmember activities;
Students with an F-1 or M-1 visa and their F-2 and M-2 dependents, if they arrive from or have been in Ireland, the UK or Schengen Area in the past 14 days.
Travelers returning to the US are advised to stay home as much as possible, avoid being around people and consider getting tested for COVID-19 after returning from travel and participated in higher risk activities.

Cons: "It was JFK TO JOHANNESBURG- I did NOT like the having a lady insist I needed to be in a wheelchair in order to make it to the Cape Town gate of departure when I did not ask for a wheelchair. MOSTLY I DID NOT LIKE that --when I insisted I must return to the plane to get the cell phne I left and KNEW where it was left-she insisted that SAA wold send it to CApe Town and I could get it there. She claimed she phoned the flight attendants to send it on. I learned this is NOT how SAA does it and I never got my phone. I do thikn, perhaps, someone who saw it called and--being it was still with SAA I think THEY went and climed it for hemselves. I did NOT think SAA accepted enough information from me and no info at first. My phone looked just like an I-Phone. It had a rubber purple back cover on it. MOST of the entries were face painting designs that I NEED. I do NOT think SAA had the passenger who got it 10 days later in Johannesburg was aasked what was programed into it. I did NOT think the reps in lost and found were knowledgable or efficent when I spoke with them several times."

Cons: "6 hours after departure I told the crew that there was no soap in one of the bathrooms. I told them again after the stop in Dakar. The issue was not resolved. 3/4 of the plane ride one bathroom did not have soap. That is not hygienic. In addition, I was very hungry during the first half of the plane ride. It is almost a 9 hour flight and we were served only 1 meal. That is not sufficient."

Cons: "I was on a 10 hour flight and asked for a ginger ale. The flight attendant was visibly annoyed. On our return flight, the couple behind us experienced the same annoyance and bad service. I guess if you're not first class, they're bothered when you ask for things as simple as a drink... on a 10 hour flight. I even overheard a flight attendant being rude to a customer because she didnt put her luggage in the overhead compartment properly. Im aware that dealing with people can be exhausting, especially if common sense isn't so common, but if you're in the hospitality industry, you have to serve past that. Also, the plane just felt gross. There was food on the floor and it felt like the experience could've been better. More attention paid to detail. If another airline alternative exists, Im definitely trying them before booking with Saa again."
Pros: "What can one say about a 16-hour flight? It wasn't intolerable. SAA economy gives you a bit more legroom than some airlines on long-haul flights. Crew was competent, pleasant. Food was palatable."

Pros: "Flight on time. Easy for connection in JNB. We booked with SA as it had a better departure time as well as arrival time so we weren't getting at destination in the middle of the night. Instructions given in multiple languages which was appreciated."

Cons: "After delaying our flight for 1 hour, then 3 hours - at midnight, we were told our flight was cancelled and we would be put up at hotels for the night. After going through customs and baggage claim, we were brought outside to the transportation terminal where all of us stood, waiting for a hotel shuttle. There was no direction or oversight from SAA. At one point, a large shuttle showed up and we all boarded. We were driven to a very un-safe neighborhood in Joberg to a hotel. The hotel manager then boarded the shuttle to tell us he had no rooms for us. We were then driven back to the airport (by now, it was 2am) and left to wait for another 45 minutes outside the terminal while SAA figured out hotels. We were unable to go back into the airport because there was no one at SAA to check us back in to the flight. After 3 hours of waiting outside the airport terminal, a shuttle took us to a hotel where we were able to get less than 4 hours of rest before getting picked up to go back to the airport. SAA gave us all 25% off our next ticket - which necessitates us having to spend MORE money with this airline to benefit from this huge error. They did not pass out water or provide any kind of provision for the complete nightmare cancellation. I understand cancellations happen but this was completely mismanaged; SAA should have kept us at the gate until they were able to confirm hotel rooms instead of making us wait outside. Virgin Atlantic cancelled a flight at the same time and they had multiple staff at the terminal and all of their passengers were immediately taken to hotel rooms."
Pros: "I liked that the attendants were very helpful. The flight was smooth. We had a bumpy take off. The landing was smooth. We got in Joburg a little late but we made it"
Cons: "The immigration staff in SA wasn't nice at all. They were very harsh and apathetic. Then we got delayed so bad when some other guy locked himself out with his car in the tarmac. We ended up being delayed all the way and we missed our flight from DC to Chicago. On our way to Harare our suitcases were missing. We had to incur more expenses in the city coming back to the airport , we got charged $148 on top of that by the Harare immigration guys and we had to spend a lot in the restaurant because of that"

Cons: "Although mechanical problem had been known about for more than 6 hours, passengers only received notice of a delay 2 hours before the boarding time. The delay continued to be extended until it reached an 8 hour delay. The "mechanical" problem was the need to replace a tire. The airline told us that they had to send a crew form Washington, DC to New York to drive back with the tire. Including the time of the delay and the additional time that the plane was on the ground prior to the delay, this "repair" took 18 hours. As a frequent flyer, I received an email from the airline that the flight was going to be delayed the full 8 jours. The board at the gate initially only listed a 3 hour delay. When I inquired, the attendant told me not to say anything because that had not been officially announced yet. Once we boarded the plane, there was no apology. As we boarded (after 18 hours of the plane being at the same gate), they announced that they would then begin refueling the plane. Throughout the flight, the crew seemed annoyed and annoyed. Throughout the delay, other passengers talked about similar delays and the financial issues that the airline has been having. I would avoid this airline - they seem to be struggling."
