10.0 Excellent
Pros: We came to the area specifically to visit the Massacre Rim Dark Sky Preserve, and based on other's ratings of Rim Rock Motel, chose to stay here, and we were not disappointed! Extremely clean and well-cared for property, just what we needed for a quiet place to land for the evening before we continued on our journey. Would recommend to anyone staying in the area!
10.0 Excellent
Cons: Staff very helpful and friendly. Even offered their own sweater when it started to rain. The room is very clean. Bed very comfortable. The grounds are very beautiful and well kept. View of valley is beautiful.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: Very nice manager and staff
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Actually, the example shown of "bed like a cloud" is a good description. Felt like high thread count sheets and very comfortable mattress. Bathroom was bright and sparkling clean. After a long drive, it was exactly what we needed.
Cons: I have no complaints other than i had to leave to soon.
5.0 Okay
Cons: One room needed painting and new carpet. Another room toilet didn’t work. Both were dirty....right down to the front door mats! Yuk!
7.5 Good
Pros: Nice and peaceful even on highway. Clean and comfortable.
Cons: Wyfi was a bit week as was tv reception. I would suggest an ice machine that is accessible to tenants. Have to ask at office field once when we got there was no anser or responce to call buttonby office two times in the morning 7:30 and 8am
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very clean and comfortable rooms. Beautiful grounds. Staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean! Everything we needed! Good value.
1.0 Poor
Pros: The staff always go the extra mile. Recieved a the discount on the room because there was a minor mixup involving my reservation. As a senior, I appreciated it, but the question was resolved, so it really wasn't necessary. Always my first choice for stay a place to stay!
Cons: Can't think of a thing.Wonderful.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Great place to stay
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Room and landscaped area in the back of motel.
Cons: Lack of hot tub.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Room was a generous size and it was quiet. The room also had two separate AC units. The bed was extremely comfortable.
Cons: This is going to be a bit nit picky. I arrived at the property shortly after the posted office closing time. However, I guess I wasn't the only late arrival. There were about half a dozen envelopes with customer names and room numbers. I appreciated this touch. However, in the morning, I wanted to take the key to the office and tell someone how I appreciated the key in envelope thing, I was at the office ready to check out at 7:30am and there was no one in the office. There was a key drop, however. I just think it's a bit odd that I rented my room without any human interaction at all.

5.4 Okay
Pros: The history.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I love historic hotels and this one certainly was, the hallways lined with details about its past and the families who owned it over time. The rooms were all unique (we checked in at the same time as 5 others and got to peek in each others rooms). The historic restaurant downstairs was unfortunately only open for lunch Thu-Sun but we got to explore it on our own. The saloon bar was friendly, cosy, and also catered to history buffs. The woman working the bar, Annette, was a great hostess (juggling drinks alongside check ins at the bar which was done most efficiently, her personality keeping everyone amused). The hotel's location was excellent too, allowing us to explore Alturas on foot, visiting the real community museum (allow at least an hour and read the stories about contributions from the community which can be most entertaining), a great antique treasure trove and thrift shop a short walk away, and the more sophisticated Mustard across the street. The attached café (open daily) serves lots of Starbucks items but has a more extensive menu as well. It houses a special free library and seems to be a center for community notices and gatherings (very popular before work with police and firemen, we noted).
5.0 Okay
Cons: the tubs had no mat or built in slip resistant floor, my friend fell in it and hit her head and had some bruises. very dangerous. no elevator, very huge long and high stair case. no tv, only a bar.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Great hotel. Like going back in time to the wild west.
7.5 Good
Pros: Blast from the past charming historic hotel complete with stair and floor creaks and antique furnishings. Staff was great to upgrade our room to the wedding suite which gave us room to move around and I loved the large claw foot tub! Neat to read accounts of past guests in each room. Loved the wide staircase and the common sitting rooms.
Cons: Could use a good deep clean on the light fixtures, doilies and corners. No elevator.
9.6 Excellent
Pros: cool rooms, magazines in sitting areas, old pictures with history printed on them, books one may take or just read while there, great food at restaurant, had a good feel
Cons: no elevators
7.9 Good
Pros: Old fashion Victorian
Cons: Bathroom was really small
7.5 Good
Pros: If you like the experience of staying in a historic hotel you should enjoy this hotel.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location on Main Street with a restaurant, cafe (both roomy and distinctive, ate at both) and saloon all on hotel's ground floor. Real atmosphere, like an older, large B&B with wide halls. Historic photos, tin ceilings, antique furnishings, totally unique. Room was small but okay for a night or two. Friendly and personable staff in each area.
Cons: Room was on second floor. It's 24 steps up due to the ground floor's high ceiling.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Awesome hotel, great staff

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Very comfortable and quiet... Older motel but clean...
Cons: I was comfy and thats more than i can say about more expensive motels in this particular town...
7.9 Good
Pros: Easy to get reservation. Took our dog but we had to pay extra for him.
Cons: Old fashioned floral bedspread. The lighting was inconvenient. Only 1 nightstand and no light on that side.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Clean and secure accomadation, quiet area. No troubles overall
9.2 Excellent
Pros: We knew in advance of our arrival that this facility doesn't offer a breakfast. As a result, we were prepared, so it wasn't an issue for us. This is a 50's-style motel offering basic services - a quiet, comfortable and clean place to spend the night in Alturas, a small town on the eastern face of the Northern Sierra Nevada Mountains, a close drive to the Oregon state line. We were headed for The Palouse, an interesting agricultural area near Pullman, WA, the next day after leaving the San Francisco Bay Area in the middle of the afternoon, a 5- to 6-hour drive. Arriving in the early evening, we were warmly greeted by the entire owner-family in a down-home sort of fashion - very friendly folks. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We had a couple of good laughs. After a bit of chit-chat, and after a quick check for bedbugs,* we settled into our room for the night, which was spent restfully. After a quick breakfast out of our cooler and boxed items, with the benefit of tea by utilizing the microwave in the room, we were off on our adventure again, renewed for the day ahead. There were no surprises - we received exactly what we expected and would likely return again. (We cannot say THAT about several other lodging facilities at which we stayed.) *This should NOT be taken as any reflection on this lodging facility. We ALWAYS check EVERY lodging facility for bedbugs, whether a relatively simple motel or an upscale hotel. Hilton, Intercontinental, Best Western or 'mom & pop' facilities, we just make it a practice to check 'em all. The reality is, EVERY lodging facility runs the risk that someone will bring them along in their suitcase. There are two types of hotel/motel facilities - Those that HAVE dealt with bedbugs and those what are GOING TO deal with bedbugs. If you don't know how to do this basic check - - you should learn! (Consult "Mr. Google" about how to perform this easy procedure.
Cons: This shouldn't be considered a complaint of The Hacienda. We liked it. We live in California. We know lodging facilities are costly in the state. The demand is so high and the operating costs are such that any hotel/motel will be comparatively expensive with respect to other regions of the U.S. Our trip took us across the northern tier, all the through Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin, and then through Iowa, South Dakota, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada to finally end up back in California. We encountered lodging facilities ranging from motels such as The Hacienda, B&Bs, mid-scale hotels such as Hilton, Best Western, Marriott, Comfort Inn, several "recycled" Holiday Inns/Howard Johnsons run by families of certain ethnicities (the truth!), one that turned out to be managed by a so-called "Christian-inspired group," national park facilities managed by Xantera and (our favorite) a GrandStay Suites hotel in Eau Claire, WI that we'd go back to in a FLASH. Prices varied wildly depending on location and features. The reason I bring this up is that the cost for a huge 2-room suite with all-new furnishings and a full kitchen, an office area, Jacuzzi AND a shower over tub, large closet and many other creature comforts including a king bed was almost identical to the Hacienda. (The aforementioned GrandStay Suites in Eau Claire.) Of course, the experience was different, however we were warmly welcomed and made to feel our comfort was important to every member of the staff. - - ALL for $79 + minimal tax. Now, that's not to detract from my positive comments - - it IS, however a statement of what can be available at similar pricing in differing locations. (Truth be told, we paid Xantera over $210/night + significant tax for a queen room at Lake Lodge in Yellowstone for about what The Hacienda offers.) In our opinion, the pricing structure of lodging throughout the U.S.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: I loved how the maid went out of her way to be sure to have my coffee everyday!! 10 out of 10- Bed was old but our room was the cleanest room we have ever slept in! In all of our years of traveling!!! 18 years to find a maid that had our blankets so clean and the linen was so fresh!!!

Pros: Close to center of town.
7.5 Good
Pros: I've stayed there before, Always a good stay.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Friendly staff, very clean, good coffee in the rooms, mini refrigerator and microwave in room.
Cons: Bathroom was small, especially the shower and bathroom door was hard to open and close as it didn't fit correctly.
7.9 Good
Pros: Clean and neat, friendly staff. Old motel but newer interior and fixtures. Fridge, freezer and microwave here. Comfortable bed. We were here while visiting relatives and basically just needed a place to sleep... met that need just fine! No frills, but what we needed (except hairdryer)!
Cons: Be warned: No hair dryer! No extra blanket in the room. Room small so would be cramped for more than 2 adults.
9.2 Excellent
Pros: Very nice person at the registration. Friendly discussions and advice.

4.6 Okay
Pros: The lady on reception was nice. The pillows were soft
Cons: The room was a little bit old and grubby, there was blankets instead of duvet. The room opens directly onto parking lot and local roads. Most shops were closed down in area and everything was a little depressing
8.8 Excellent
Cons: I was surprised to not find a Bible in my room.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: liked that there were hard-boiled eggs and sausage&egg biscuits or bagels available - lots of options for breakfast and the lady helping in there was ON IT ! She was amazing ! And they had decaf coffee with real half and half and stevia as an option for sweetener = all nice little details that I appreciate!
3.3 Mediocre
Cons: Quite a dingy place - have paid much less for better. Sink to wash hands located outside bathroom. Room didn't smell fresh. It was very dark and pokey. Advertised pool was unable to be used, it was being filled with a hose for 'a few days'... .desk clerk just shrugged and said pool was 'seasonal' - I thought June was summer season. Website said to 'ask about exercise facilities at reception'. It turned out to be a local gym which you had to pay to use. Staff unfriendly.
7.5 Good
Pros: Very clean, very comfortable.
Cons: The room above us sounded like there was a heard of elephants up there.....dont think it was the guests fault.....just old motel, old floors.
6.7 Good
Pros: Cleanliness

7.1 Good
Pros: Clean and comfortable rooms, close to food.
Cons: I had to change rooms for a two night stay which was a hastily to pack up and repack car and then wait for a new room and unpack again. Would like to see a spa!

Cons: The air conditioning was getting warmer as the night went on. By 3am it was too warm to sleep and opened the window to allow the outside cool air to make it comfortable enough to fall back to sleep. Every night the air conditioner was at max cool with furnace turned down as far as possible.I let the management know about the issue and looked into and said it was working fine. It did seem cooler through the day but not as the night went on it just blew warm air instead of cool. Management was told but said everything is working just fine. It was not.
5.4 Okay
Pros: Close to a location that we were going to.
Cons: Too pricy and the “satellite” portion of the hotel is noisy. The floor of the room above our room 122 was creaking beyond belief!
