Pros: Excellent personalised service, great location, delicious breakfast.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Located a short walk from the centre of Arras, Au Coeur D'Eden is one of the best bed and breakfast's that I have stayed in. There was parking directly outside, with just a small charge for parking between 9am & 6pm. The bedrooms were beautifully furnished and decorated, with comfy beds. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room and a fridge with help yourself bottled water on the landing. Residents have access to the lounge, garden room and a beautiful garden. The continental breakfast was wonderful and the hosts very friendly, welcoming and helpful.
Cons: Wifi didn't extend very well to the top floor bedroom, but was perfect lower down.

Pros: Everything, including the hotel dog Nella the French Bulldog!
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Central location. Beautiful garden for breakfast and as a view from the room. Extremely comfortable bed. Large spacious rooms with high ceilings. Decor is attractive and the whole space is extremely clean. Host speaks perfect English. Entry is code based which is convenient - no key to lose! Nespresso coffee in room. Breakfast is reasonably priced and good quality, albeit simple. Fan was provided in the room for airflow and the very large windows could be opened entirely to cool the room. Parking is not attached to the hotel but it is a 30s walk and free overnight.
Cons: Nothing major. There is no lift but the owner will help with your luggage if you need help. There was a small amount of noise from the plumbing in the morning, presumably when other guests were showering. I stress that if I were to return to the area I would want to stay at this hotel and would use it as a base for exploring the surrounding area. I will be back to this hotel.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Great location, 5 minutes walk from main square but very quiet and peaceful. On street parking 50 metres away only 4 Euros for 24 hours. Superb breakfast and lovely private garden. The whole place was spotlessly clean and very tastefully decorated. The rooms are air conditioned, bathroom fitted out to a very high standard. There is a very tranquil atmosphere. The owner was very helpful and spoke fluent English.
Cons: Just a piece of information, the hotel isn't staffed during the middle of the day and check in is from 4.00pm so don't arrive early.

Pros: Very modern and clean
Cons: No lift
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Modern Rooms, well appointed, good facilities and friendly staff...although the outside area between the hotel and the restuarant next door could do with a bit of tidying up! The Hotel itself is lovely, but only once you get inside; the outside area really needs some work and parking spaces are very limited. The photo on the brochure rather wisely focusses on the entrance ! But the hotel itself, lovely...
Cons: Was charged for two breakfasts (didn't notice when I paid), even though on arrival and when I came down for breakfast I made it clear it was just me...that's 12 Euro I'm not going to see again!

9.3 Excellent
Pros: The rooms are what one would expect from Holiday Inn Express, including the very strange configuration of the shared door to bathroom and toilet. The person who designed that was probably on some chemical. However, the room was spacious enough, the beds were comfortable, the wi-fi worked and the kettle/coffee making facility was a bonus. The desk staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel location is quite convenient to visit the central area of the city. Safe underground parking (payable).
Cons: Check in is advertised as available from 3.00 pm, but our room was not ready at that time and we noticed that nearly every room on the first floor still had to be prepared by the staff. However, we were given complimentary coffee while we waited. The reception area, bar and breakfast rooms are all quite nice, but the corridors are badly in need of renovation as they give a really bad first impression. And the elevators sound like they are in need of attention.

6.7 Good
Pros: Holiday Inn Express provides a great stay at good value. The room was clean and comfortable with plenty of space. We had our own controls for air con/heating along with tea and coffee making facilities. The design of the bathroom was ingenious with a door that allowed the toilet to be used separately. The hairdryer was in the room - all designed to allow two people to get ready at the same time. Close to Place de Heroes and Grand Place. Buffet breakfast good for the price
Cons: Paying for parking was a minor inconvenience but really didn't detract from our stay
6.0 Good
Pros: the breakfast
Cons: room entry card - difficult to get it to work also two false fire alarms
6.0 Good
Pros: central position; easy access to town; polite and helpful english-speaking reception; car parking (though not cheap)
Cons: have used this hotel for the third or fourth time now and the continental breakfast choices have clearly deteriorated eg one morning no fruit, second morning no toasting bread, etc. One morning nowhere to sit as every table messy tho' the one girl present was doing her best. Campanile continental breakfasts much superior ( and less cost?)
6.3 Good
Pros: Good staff, positive action when inoperative aircon reported. Good location with safe car park
Cons: No cooling in lobby on top floors

8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel looks new. It's modern and spotlessly clean. Secure car park. We like the self check-in system, where you check in on a computer screen in the entrance way and receive a several digit code to gain entry to the hotel and our room. Situated close to numerous shops and restaurants. One in particular called Leon is virtually next door and serves superb food. They specialise in mussels, but do other stuff as well. It is very popular, so go early or reserve a table online. The very picturesque town centre is 2.3 miles away, so transport is a must, but worth the journey.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location and facilities
Cons: Room was a little bit small
8.8 Excellent

8.3 Excellent
Pros: Location was excellent. In main square of Arras local to everything. Main bedroom nice , big , comfy bed with modern en-suite shower room, Down stairs area nicely furnished with outside courtyard for eating though we didn’t try the restaurant as very meaty menu and we had a vegetarian in our party.!
Cons: Room was a junior suite supposedly for 4 adults, we had 3 in our party and that was a squeeze! Second bed was a pull out double sofa in dark entrance room with no window. Adequate but small. The bathroom was en-suite to the main bedroom so very inconvenient for use of third person. It was also open to that bedroom (toilet separate) so couldn’t be closed off for a person having a shower either. Not a good design. We had not realised that when we booked thought peeping in next door similar room saw they had a window in both rooms. Hard to tell when you choose a room online. We had Room 14 Breakfast £10 and not really worth that. Ok but not great for the price, we were only people eating each morning, staff around but not that attentive and mainly French spoken,
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Location/interior/the sofaside
Cons: The smell of bread and croissants or so very early in the morning in the bedroom
7.0 Good
Pros: Very comfy bed and very clean room, good breakfast ( if pay extra)
Cons: Very hard to find entrance as just a door off the street with small sign. No secure parking for motorbike. Only view was into opposite rooms. Black stairways and hallways ??.!!.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Everything! Perfect location, friendly staff and lovely room.
6.8 Good
Pros: The location is what this hotel is all about. In the centre on one side of Grand Place. We arrived on Saturday afternoon (after the market) so could park just by the hotel. The room was basic but functional and very clean and smart. Breakfast, which was extra, was a disaster. Everything (coffee, milk, juice, bread, pastries) was running out and we and other guests had to ask repeatedly to get re-stocked. Much better to go to one of the many cafe in the squares!
Cons: Breakfast service was appalling.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Parking on grand place is only €6 a day. Sofa bed is very comfortable. Next door there is a fabulous bakery for breakfast. Room has all the amenities and rituals soap.
Cons: We had the room for 4 persons, there is no bathroom door, though there is a door separating the “living area” to the bedroom.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Nice central location with the Grand Place. However, this amazing location does come with some drawbacks. It is very noisy at night and in the morning due to all of the action in this area. It was fine for us but, you should be aware if you're a light sleeper or, hate street noise. The facilities were clean and worked well for our visit. The staff at the restaurant were extremely accommodating and even reset breakfast for us after a miscommunication on our end.
Cons: A little noisy due to the location. Minimum screening of the shower facilities.

Pros: Lovely place to stay within a short walk of the main square in Arras. Very helpful staff- who even phoned us after we left after finding a watch in our room. Very nice buffet breakfast.
Cons: No airconditioning- yet, but there are plans to instal, so this may change. They did provide fans and water.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Liked the luggage trolley at the disposal of guests and the parking. Dinner especially suited to the hot weather - loved the apple and salmon starter - very refreshing.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Beautiful hotel. Very french and traditional but modern touches. A central location easy walking to la Grand Place - lots of bars and restaurants. Fabulous architecture and there’s a lovely cathedral well worth a visit to the top of the belfry.
Cons: Lovely view of the courtyard from top floor but room was in the eaves - only banged head once!
7.0 Good
Pros: Good location. Clean room.
Cons: No A/C in the bedrooms. How can a hotel get a 4 star rating if it doesn’t have A/C?
9.3 Excellent
Pros: Excellent evening meal with friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast also excellent with very attentive lady from the Philippines.
Cons: Rooms a little on the small size and no aircon. ( canicule in progress)
8.8 Excellent
Pros: The hotel was excellent, the breakfast was very good, the staff where faultless, and the hotel was spotless and the car parking was secure

Pros: Lovely building, great location.
Cons: Breakfast a bit basic.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: Best staff ever!! Yuan hua went above and beyond to make our stay fantastic. She ensured all our needs were met, from arranging for storing our luggage after check out so we could explore Vimy, calling the taxi, recommending restaurants, and making us feel so welcome. There is no other place I would stay in Arras! The location was perfect right across from the train station, the surrounding neighborhoods were a pleasure to walk through and the room was spotless and comfortable and quiet.
8.3 Excellent
Pros: The staff were fabulous, could not do enough for the guests. I needed an iron and ironing board and they were brought straight up. The Chinese lady on reception was very pleasant and helpful. The following morning, a young man and a ypung Landry that was shadowing him to learn the role were both very friendly and helpful. The location is great, very handy for train travellers as it's opposite Arras train station, with a nice outlook over a pedestrian square with monument. It's only a short walk to ale Grande Place, which is a lovely place to sit and while away a few hours if you have time
Cons: It is a little tired in places, but nothing that would spoil a stay
7.5 Good
Pros: Good location opposite station, 5 minutes walk to city centre. Large bedroom.
Cons: No tea/coffee in the bedroom. We booked two rooms as there were 4 in our party (2 adults and 2 kids). In the end we only used one room as it had two large double beds. It would've been useful to know that we didn't need two rooms when booking as we ended up paying for two rooms.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Very large room. Staff very friendly and efficient and spoke good English.
Cons: No hotel bar. A few minor issues.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: See above
Cons: Breakfast a bit thin

10.0 Excellent
Pros: everything was great! really friendly and welcoming staff, spacious room and comfortable bed.
Cons: nothing. all great
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Ginormous rooms, incredibly clean, nice French-style breakfast, friendly staff, central location, lots of pay and display or garage parking within short distance, restaurants nearby. BBC including Cbeebies (handy for travel weary children) available on TV in the room. Have already booked to stay here again.
Cons: There wasn’t a thing I didn’t like about this hotel.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: Right across from train station, but no noise. Easy walk to downtown restaurants and shops. Rooms are spacious. Staff was very helpful and friendly.
Cons: Some simple upgrades would be nice, like card-key system instead of old brass keys. The hotel is locked from midnight till 6 am. However, when I told the staff I wanted to go for a midnight walk, they were more than accommodating and waited for me to get back.
9.3 Excellent
Pros: I travelled with my young son to visit WW1 battlefields of France and Belgium. Arras is a wonderful base for this purpose. In the town itself, which is very nice, we visited the Wellington tunnels where there is excellent exhibition space. We travelled 1 hour north to Flanders (on very busy A1 motorway) and 45 minutes south to Somme (quiet roads). Hotel is situated 100m from a parking lot, it was very safe. It is also located 100m from railway station so we were just 50 minutes from Paris by TGV. Staff of the hotel were lovely, very helpful and friendly. Our room was very spacious, comfortable and quiet. We had a lovely stay here.
Cons: The only thing we didn't like was poor WiFi. I could live with that but my son needed his gadgets to work. But our overall experience of this hotel was fantastic and if ever travelling back there, we would definitely stay again and recommend it to a friend.

10.0 Excellent
Pros: We stayed in an apartment at the side of the hotel. We had everything we needed. The owner very kindly left us water milk juice and cereals. Very good location.
7.0 Good
Pros: Very cramped room but the view from the window over the Place des Heros made up for it. Excellent loaction
Cons: Parking was some distance away.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Location and friendly staff
3.3 Mediocre
Cons: When we got there you could see the property was very run down and dirty on the outside. Although the area was quite historic there were more than expected beggars etc. The entrance was shabby and gave an indication of the rest of the place, so went to look at the room. Two very narrow flights of stairs to the room which was on the front. We looked in and instantly thought no way can we stay here. The room was tiny and the toilet was little more than a converted cupboard. Everything looked grubby and worn. The furnishings that were there, were dirty and worn out. Windows and curtains were filthy, and very dark in there. The owner said we could have an apartment they owned close by if one had been available, which looking at the reviews was where most people have been put up. They are the ones who are making the property rateing higher than it actually is. To cut a long story short we decided we could not sleep in that room or stay in that hotel. So paid our money and left.
5.0 Okay

Overview Reviews
With a stay at Hôtel Moderne, you'll be centrally located in Arras, within a 10-minute walk of Place des Heros and Grand Place. Featured amenities include complimentary newspapers in the lobby, luggage storage, and an elevator (lift).
9.3 Excellent
Pros: located near the train station, 5 mins walk from the main square. Easy car park spaces nearby
Cons: no air con
8.3 Excellent
Pros: Overnight stop over on route to Calais- perfect for when you have a very early crossing. Staff super friendly, room comfortable and clean and well worth the budget. Lots of restaurants very close by and only a 5 minute walk to the 2 main squares. Plenty of public parking outside ( free between 6pm-9am) This was our 2nd stay, didn’t disappoint and will definitely use next time we are traveling UK/France route.
Cons: Considering price, nothing at all to complain about.
8.8 Excellent
Pros: Great location for exploring Arras on foot, close to city centre and railway station, we were able to walk to all the sites and places of interest. There is a small bar which was open in the evening.
Cons: My room had a shower over the bath, I prefer a walk-in shower, it would not put me off staying again.
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Close to railway station and only five minutes walk to the city centre
Cons: Breakfasts were quite expensive. Also the hotel needs to set up or encourage a business focussing on the Great War battlefield sites. It is difficult to get around without a private car. The one commercial business was far too overpriced.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Mint
Cons: Everything was good
8.0 Excellent
Pros: Good location.
Cons: We mist air-conditioner.
9.5 Excellent
Pros: We were able to book this at the last minute. Good price. Great location for us (near the train station) and then just drop the luggage and make the short walk to the Grote Markt. Friendly staff and helpful. We were doing small group tours so the location was great for pick up and drop off - not too busy. The room was lovely. The old character has been kept. We were able to open our 4th level window and let in the noise and atmosphere below but seal it off later with a modern (outer) door.
Cons: We booked for breakfast the first morning as we were meeting a tour. So this facility is great to have on hand for such timing. However, the second morning, we wandered to a bar/cafe nearby and had breakfast among the locals - which better met our tastes.
10.0 Excellent
Pros: Staff were very accommodating with special requests. We received a warm welcome and everyone from cleaning staff to manager were so pleasant. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. A great buffet breakfast was available with a wide variety of delicious food. Location was great...right across from the train station and a short walk to the vibrant public square and good restaurants. Will absolutely return to the Hotel Moderne.
