Convenience of location. A bit run down and in need of makeover. lack of anywhere to park to unload
The location was excellent, 5 minutes walk from The Palais des Papes.
The hotel situatated was in a great part of town. A five minute walk through the town square and you're at the Pope's Palace The power went off roughly 15 times during the night. It was a cold night so everyone had their space heater plugged in. Apparently the breaker box couldn't handle it.
Nothing The atitude of the staff (female) was extremely rude. She spoke English well, and rude. She is the first person I've ever met in France.
Location exceleent for being in the hub of things. Not far from main attractions and more important a supermarket Air conditioning didnt work. One tiny wardrobe for 3 people and no drawers to place clothes meant we had to keep our tops in our suitcases.
most things no elevator
good location within walking distance of sites and food. bird noise in court yard and rooms. staff had very limited english and did not inform us of hotel hours nor provided security code for late arrival. hotel was generally old and dingy. needs upgrading. no detailed map provided to public parking but 40% discount for hotel guests was generous.
Location is the only positive thing I can say about this hotel. this is a hotel where the owners have absolutely no pride of ownership. there is a sense that no money is put into maintaining and upgrading the facilities.
The triple room was a fair size. The beds (the double & sigle) were short and a little uncofortable if you are taller than 5.7ft.
staff,comfort,& very convenient location n/a
The location was great. the hotel overall was quite nice with AC. The breakfast was delicious.
Great location and attentive, concerned staff. Perhaps the best dinning in the city. Very comfortable sleeping. Shower didn't have a curtain to contain the water, so it could get messy. Otherwise it worked well with good pressure.
A small, modern hotel in a perfect location in the heart of old Avignon. Good value and pleasant, comfortable, quiet rooms. Fancy coffee maker in room. Difficult to access by car and parking garages are not too close (not bad, though). We were upgraded to a suite which was really nice, but despite having an elevator, we still had to climb an additional 30 steps after we got off on our floor to reach it (with all our luggage, baby stroller, etc.). That was just for the suite, but most other rooms also require various numbers of extra steps despite being on the same "floor."
It was on the town square, so a great base.
The hotel location is perfect and the rooms were wonderful especially when compared to typical European hotel rooms. The view of the square is a very nice addition to a great room and kind, helpful staff.
Location Smell of sewage
The staff were wonderful
Second visit to Avignon. Hotel location is perfect, right on the square. Very clean, large room, well appointed. Staff is excellent. The bath had some severe water damage to the tiles and this had not been repaired for some time.
location too expensive no reception area/bar
Location. Helpfull friendly clean. Cute
excellent location and very friendly & helpful staff. breakfast is ok. Big variation in rooms & bedsizes. We changed room without a problem.
Wonderful hotel. Great location and friendly staff.
Proximity to main attractions. Large, spacious room. Effective air-con. Excellent view. Never had to wait for lift.
Lovely hotel in all respects other than being some what dated and old fashioned. Great view from the room. Old fashioned fittings and decorations
The room was large and comfortable The maid left our door open on our first day but the reception staff were apologetic. Tea and coffee making facilities would have made it better.
Excellent location and very peaceful Our room was comfortable, but a little on the small side
hotel personal was extremely helpful
Great location and a superb hotel in the heart of the city. So many sights to see, without getting the car out again.
Good location, good breakfast!
The staff, location and size of the room No
This hotel was located in the centre of the Old City. The location was excellent for choice of dining, shopping and seeing the many interesting sights.
The location of hotel is just 1 minute from the “Palais de la Papes” and all the main attractions. Moreover it has an entrance directly from the public parking (you have a discount from the official price). The staff was kind and speaks a good English. The room was very quite. The room was not so big. The price is high. Sometimes in the hall there was a bad smell (drain?).
Parking close to the entrace for 23 hours.Bed was comfortable They were having major renvation works and did not state this to guess, before arrival/booking. Losy minibar and no open bar services facility due o these works. No meals other tha high cot breakfast. No power plugs beside bed The cost was far too high - should have been a reduction due to virtually no facilities that Mercure normally offer. Moved to nother hotel next day for 30 euros less.
Location and ease of parking. The duvet on the bed was too hot. We had to take it apart.
Very gool location, close to palace, 2 minute walk to town Square. clean rooms , good size comfortable bed Staff had quite a bit of diffuculty with english , not a big problem for us could be for some
The fridge with things to buy in the lobby was well stocked. The breakfast buffet was very good. The bed was comfortable. The room allocated to us was overlooking the breakfast room so we had to keep our blinds drawn most of the time. We were next to the staircase on floor 1 (room 102) so we often heard noises of footsteps and the door slamming on the ground floor. Would not choose this room and you should not be offering it.
The location of the hotel was wonderful--mere steps from the Palais de la Papes. Parking was available at an adjacent parking ramp, a big plus for staying in Avignon. It was very difficult finding the hotel as the entrance is located inside the parking garage.
I am disappointed, having booked this hotel through Active Hotels, that the single night stay by my wife and her friend was billed as two separate transactions on my credit card, thus attracting extra commission. I have heard of this trick before, it is usually to avoid a single transaction over £100 on a credit card. The check in and room have been ticked as poor because my wife tried to get into her room and the card didn't work. The existing occupant came out to see who was trying to get into his room. What a simple but stupid mistake.
The beds were excellent, nice duvets and pillows. Nice to have a fridge. Great location for sightseeing. Bar area been refurbished since I last stayed there and looks much more modern. No milk or coffee was ever placed in the room - only teabags? Had to ask reception for coffee and bought our own milk. Considering the cost of the room this was playing real cheap. You get tea, coffee and milk in any decent budget hotel nowadays.
The location was excellent and the rooms were very comfortable and clean
Very good location, nice rooms Smeal on the hole
location just what was needed room over looking square
The staff were very friendly and courteous and eager to provide a good service to guests. The hotel is located at the top of the main street and opposite the Palace du Papes, which is an excellent location. It also has a very good restaurant. No, it was good value for money and very pleasant.
restruant is nice room is small
Great location, right next to the Papal Palace. Our room was located directly over the kitchen of the hotel's restuarant and overlooking the street in front of the hotel, so it was very noisy with people, deliveries, trash pick-up, street sweepers...
Friendliness of the Hotel Staff.
Location was perfect. I would recommend hotel only for the location Bathroom was extremely uncomfortable. Bathtub was very deep, no handles to help you out, water would splatter all over
The location is super....the facility is ok, since it's renovated from an old building.
Location Could not use the bath as plug missing and water set to shower.
Location right in the heart of Avignon. Staff very helpful. Dark and gloomy hotel with very basic accommodation and services. Rooms are very tired although resonably clean.
Staff were helpful and pleasant. The location was good. The decor was truly hideous; chosen by someone colour-blind, surely. Made the entrance and hall seem dirty and dingy when it wasn't; and the pale green rooms looked as though they were mouldy - but were actually clean and comfortable on everything but the eyes.
Close to city center, quiet.
I found the Hotels location to be excellent. The reception staff were very helpful and all spoke English. Some of the facilities were not good , but the Hotel was being upgraded which we could see and a lift is to be installed during the coming winter.
Very convenieint location and pleasanr staff Water for tea nede to be hotter
The attempt to create a truly unique atmosphere within th hotel. A truly Italien experience had been created in a French Hotel Situation and everything else was perfect
The location is very central and the room was relatively spacious. The breakfast was good. There was no parking available close to the hotel. The bed linen was stained and the room smelt like people had been smoking inside. There was also no lift in the hotel which made being at the very top with heavy bags difficult. I thought that the room was overpriced compared to other hotels of a similar quality in France.
The reception in hotel was so nice, especially Mike. He was really interesting and friendly.we appercicated it. The position is not really convenient. If you dont have heavy luggage , it is fine. You have to carry on your bag from bus stop to hotel about 10 mins walking.
The staff was helpful and flexible with breakfast hours The furniture is very old, the pipes in the restroom made noise all night long and for many minutes after using the toilet. They decided to renovate the exterior while I was there and workers started pounding the walls at 6 am which of course disturbed everyone's sleep.
in the main street, easy to go shopping and tour bad smelling in bath room, a little far away from train station SCNF
The location in the centre of Avignon was excellent and there was a double bed. The bathroom was filthy, there was a hole in the wall, due to scaffolding outside a metal shutter had to be kept shut over the window for security so there was no natural light, and the hotel was dark and dingy.
Very helpful staff
The location was just excellent. It´s relatively cheap and it´s good value for money, even though it´s not a superb hotel. Clean, simple, nice staff and excellent location. Will stay there again next time in Avignon
Central Position with good view from my room
Nothing! Room is very dirty. Bath room is in very bad shap and not functional. Carpet not clean and has very bad smill. I'had to buy my own air freshner!
It's a great location, and good price Staff
Very nice, helpful staff, good location. The hotel is in a very nice nice old building, and the renovation will hopefully bring out the beauty of it again. Exterior of the hotel is under renovation. Room was clean, but very basic with tired, old furniture. Hopefully renovation will include the rooms as well.
Staff were very warm, welcoming, helpful. They welcomed us when we arrived and were generous with their time and providing orientation to Avignon with maps, suggestions for dining and shopping. Clean, newly renovated, and well equipped small kitchen. The only downside is the apartment bedroom is very small with no storage space
A clean and comfortable hotel at and very quiet location within easy walking distance to Avignon old town centre, shops and cultural sights.
The hosts were extremely helpful with getting information and very friendly and approachable. They also spoke english well. The apartment had everything in it that I required to cook a good meal. It was nicely decorated in Provencale style. It was also very handy to the sites of Avignon, the buses and the SNCF trains. The apartment location was in a quiet area. The shower was small and the furniture although lovely was not totally functional for the size of the rooms; the doors on the wardrobe were too big to get past the bed and the table was a bit high for the chairs.
Nice hotel, and friendly staff. Good location in the centre of the old town. The room was pretty tiny and not very well put together, there were nice features however some bits, like the electrical distribution boards and the kitchen extract fan were in the wrong location. The toilet and shower was very small.
The apartment was lovely and centrally located in the walled city of Avignon. Due to the strikes in France we had to arrive a day early and were able to access the apartment and be greeted by the owners at 9pm. We had a wonderful stay and the space in the apartment was great after 4 weeks of hotel rooms. Would absolutely recommend staying here.
Hotel Staff is really lovely and very friendly. Very nice people! Extremely helpfull!!! We did stay in five different hotels in Provence but Staff in Autour Du Petit Paradis was the best! I highly recommend this place. You feel very welcome here. We did love the location and the hotel was very nice and clean. Unfortunately the only minus was a size of our room. It was very small. We did stay here for two nights so it was not so big problem. We love to be all day outside anyway and we go to hotel just to sleep. If I would go for the whole week I would order a bigger size room if it is available or the apartment. Our room was the cheapest... so I do not complaint at all ;o) and recommend this place!
The best part of our stay was the proprietors, Sabine and Patrick. They are lovely people, always ready to help with recommendations, advice, reservations, and requests. The location of the hotel is ideal--on a quiet street, but two minutes from the market and the walking streets; easy walk to all the attractions of Avignon. Our apartment was delightful--large bath, adequate kitchen, comfortable bed, nice furnishings, and spotlessly clean. We stayed 13 nights and would happily have stayed much longer. Highly recommended. Leaving it.
Excellent accommodating staff. Very comfortable unit The shower was way to small even for me and I'm not vey big. My 6'4" husband had dramas
Very warm welcome by helpful owners. Comfortable accommodation in studio room very close to city centre.
Great location and super value. Very clean and the staff was very nice. A bit difficult to get to.
The staff were most helpful and courteous. The room was elegantly furnished. The location is very central but in a quiet lane way. Breakfast was sparse but there were many lovely cafes close by, There was no lift but the staff helped carry our bags.
Run by a friendly husband and wife and perhaps the occasional uncle, who listened patiently to my rusty French, and even lent me their laptop. The plumbing in our room made extraordinary noises! Quite endearing actually.
pleasant staff no lift, narrow stairs, filthy dirty carpets, heating to hot or to cold, shower not working properly, very dark room no view, could not hear the tv sound was fixed, all in all very expensive we found rooms half the price during our stay, feeling ripped off, all this made for a miserable stay
The location is great. The palais des papes (Pope's Palace) and all other major attractions are right around the corner (as well as several good restaurants). If you arrive by car, it is very close (about a 5 minute walk) to the large parking garage in the middle of town (les Halles). We had the breakfast they offered, and it was good and worth the money, though not exceptional. Bathroom and bed were adequate. Room was dark and painted in dark colors. I can think of no other negatives.
Great location, large and pretty room (with wood beams in the ceiling), clean. A pleasant place to stay the weekend. The carpeting in the room had some stains, though everything was clean.
Location and front counter staff were very helpful The room was very small and noisy due to ground floor close to walkway
Very helpful and friendly staff. Well situated hotel convenient for SNCF station and sights of Avignon.
Its central location, the very friendly and open staff, the charming hotel with renovated bathrooms no
It was very comfortable and convenient for city sights and train/bus station. Staff very friendly and helpful and spoke English. Room very comfortable after discovering the air conditioning and very clean.
Bathroom was clean and excellent and unlimited hot water - powerful, roomy shower Shortage of pillows, narrow bed, very small but cold room and every time we needed the room heater switched on we had to ask at reception
Central Avignon for main tourist sites. Basic cost reasonable. Breakfast very expensive at an extrsa 8 euros per person. Difficult access if touring by car.
Close to City centre Walls thin, could hear people next door and in corridor
Ideal location. Helpful staff. Good value. Comfortable rooms with lovely hot water whenever needed. Good breakfast with excellent and plenty of hot coffee. We recommend it. It would have been nice to have had coffee making facilities in our room, but not having them didnn't spoil our stay.
We stayed in a triple room and it has two separate floors (though not so spacious), which is good. The room was not clean, the bathroom has no shower curtain, there were bugs and ants in the towel. Only one fan in our room, it was too hot to fall asleep.
There are no air conditions in the room. And it was very noisy in the morning.
bathroom was sparkling clean and staffs speak great english, one person even speaks little Korean, great to hear~! location was great. my baby loves stairs in the room, it was little dangerous for one year old baby though. I didnot like the carpet on the floor. and they charged for my one yer old baby about 5.xx euro. it was not big deal but bad surprise. reception closed night till morning. they gave us code to use during that time. but after all, good stay. bathroom was very clean but no shower curtain so after shower a lot of water on floor.
Being in an old mansion. Location. Winding stair in bedroom from loo/closet to bed. This is difficult to negotiate at night. So I can't recommend this room.
Quirky interesting hotel. Nice, big bathroom with big, full length mirror. Very good central position with easy access to the main attractions and staff were very helpful Limited facilities in bedroom which were a bit annoying E.G. plug points in inaccessible places, no hair dryer in bathroom as stated on details when booked, no bedside tables or reading lamp by one of the beds. The very, narrow twisting staircase to the mezzanine floor would make it difficult for anyone who wasn't agile to get to bed easily! Only really suitable for children/thin people. Was noisey at night meaning the window had to be shut so was then too hot in the room.
The room was So small...just enough room to getinto bed for one but hard for the second person.Noise al night in the next room.
