Pros. The room was well appointed and comfortable. Appreciated the decor and attention to detail. Very clean. Really liked that you could open a giant widow in the hotel room.
Cons. My husband and I live in Brooklyn and decided to book a stay-cation here for our anniversary. Despite the hotel’s accolades and billing as a 5-star experience, and to our great dismay, we were incredibly disappointed. The hotel knew it was our anniversary and our view featured a construction site and porta potties. The pool and rooftop bar were “fully committed” for the weekend despite trying to reserve our pool time the night before using the app as directed (the staff were also unmoved by our telling them that it was our anniversary and we were only staying at the hotel for one night). At one point a stranger walked into our room and then our key to get into the room was disabled. We used the house car to get to our dinner reservation and the driver took us to Red Hook instead of Prospect Heights, making us late for dinner (the hotel apparently failed to communicate our destination to him, and the driver didn’t bother to confirm it before taking off). It was just one thing after the other to the point that it became comical. We reached out to the hotel during our stay but they essentially said there was nothing they could do. Every restaurant we visited in Brooklyn did something special for our anniversary - sweet note on the table or a glass of champagne to celebrate - the 1 Hotel did absolutely nothing. Obviously this hotel has incredible views but all of these views can be enjoyed by taking a walk along the water or visiting a number of public restaurants and bars.
Pros. Finest views in all of New York State! The aorta of America! Every drop of blood from every foreign war, even the early injustices still more complex today!
Cons. Enhanced concession and restroom improvement adjacent to the pool and specific hot tub addition! Fabulous Decor! Food was out of this world! Hope to return soon !
