We grab a quick bit, head back to gate with an hour to spare and sit down figuring we'll start boarding in a half hour. There are two agents at the gate, but there is another passenger there crying about the something in Spanish (it appears she missed her flight). Eventually airport security shows up. Well, the half an hour boarding time comes and goes, and we don't start boarding. We figure it has something to do with this woman. Finally, I go check the board again and they moved the gate to D15! We rush over, but we missed the flight. So did half a dozen other people. No announcement, nobody walking over from D15 to D19 to see if there are people there. We get to American counter and we get several different sorry-ass excuses. The first was that Miami likes to keep "a quite airport." The second was that it is OUR responsibility to check with gate agents if they don't start boarding on time. I'm so tired of the airline industry arrogance and treating passengers like they're doing us just a tremendous favor by allowing mere mortals like us to be in their very presence and allowing us access to their magical flying machines."

I arrived at the airport to find that they could not check me in when in fact my original Atlanta to New York plane had not left. The agent lied and made it seem like the plane left so I purchased a $99 ticket to Atlanta to Trenton, NJ, a local airport that was 1 hour and 46 minutes away from New York. I purchased the ticket and went to the LGA gate just in case and called the 801 number to be rebooked back on my original flight. The rep on the phone shared I would not be charged the $99 but today, 1/6/17 the charge posted on my credit card. I had to go to Trenton, NJ, send $33 for the NJ Transit, plus 2 Uber rides totaling $53."

Cons: "Baggage fees and we hit turbulence during take off and the pilot never made an announcement. It was stormy in ATL so you'd like to be warned. The flight attendant eventually made an announcement after there were screams as the plane dipped suddenly creating a roller coaster drop effect. Also the seats were impossible to get comfortable in, the arm rests too small and they didn't go up so although no one was next to me I was trapped in my seat. Also because I was in an exit row it didn't recline. Oh and the reading lights are aggressive. I wish I'd packed an eye mask to block out that light and the light from the exit sign. Thankfully it was a short flight. The airfare is cheap but after you pay all the fees you might as well book on a more comfortable airline."

SHAME ON YOU for HIDDEN COSTS."

Also, there seem to be a mix up with seating as before the plane doors closed, this same flight attendant allowed a guest to move to another seat, only for the ticket attendant to walk back on the plane and inform the flight attendant that she needed those seats. I usually fly with Delta, American Airlines, and in my 30 years of traveling have I not seen such unprofessionalism with regards to miscounted seats and the way the flight attendant handled those customers."

If the flight cost 1/2 the amount as AA, Delta I wouldnt be complaining. But i felt tricked booking through Kayak and not knowing about the extra fees associated with Spirit until after I booked. I have never flown spirit and since i didnt use their website, i saw there are additional fees but there wasnt any pricing. For the same price as other flights, the seats dont decline, no legroom, you have to pay for water, and both flights i booked were delayed. Why send the same about at the end of your travel day to be less comfortable and pay for your drinks? Last time for me!"

It is like staying at the Motel 6 instead of the Hilton. You feel like cattle the entire time. You need to be there 2 hours before your national, not international, flight just to be sure you make it to the gate on time, because the lines for check in are so long. You have to pay for a sip of water if you want one. They have four stewards and stewardesses who stand around and literally do nothing on the plane. They don't even check to see if electronic devices are turned off, or seatbelts are buckled. I hated the whole experience"

Cons: "honestly apparently it was a brand new plane . we were suppose to take off by 4:05 , we didnt end up leaving until 6:30 and we got no explanation as to why. they were talking about there were some buttons that weren't working , then they had to do paper work and then the passenger next to me screamed out that america must burn so he eventually got kicked out. then they were all like we have to look for his bags even though the passenger had clearly stated that he had nothing on him but this plastic bag he was carrying . honestly this flight was a show and i was just so eager to leave college and go back to my parents. for the price i paid it wasn't worth it but what can i do if I'm a broke college student. Also the crew tried to mediate the situation by giving us small cookies that couldn't even make up for half of the things we had to go through but nice try the cookies were actually good but it was literally like a slap in the face."

Not to mention the massive headache I had well after my flight, as we had to quickly and abruptly climb altitudes. The add ons for every flight are also ridiculous!!! Its actually funny at this point. You have to pay to print out your boarding pass in the event you don't have a printer? Great Idea Spirit! Punish the customer who can't afford a printer. Everything is an up charge- to chose your own seat, you have to pay, to print out your boarding pass- pay, if you want a cup of ice- pay. Its actually outrageous. I promise you, I deeply and sincerely promise you, that this will be my last time using your cheap airlines. Thanks for the memories."

Cons: "Your lack of accommodation to people with short term disabilities, ie a broken foot. Your nickel and dime ways. Not advertising the fact that the check bag is only 40 lb and 50 like every other airline( Industry standard) and then trying to charge $85 for a checked bag. Flying with your company can end up costing way more than a regular airline and it all seems very deceptive, never mind the fact that the delay on the way back up to New York cost me a serious financial loss due to a missed business meeting."

In order to really get a free savings, you just got to get on a flight with your wallet and bring your won food. Any thing else, you guys just ask for more and more money. 'if you want to breath, that will be an additional $100.00. other wise the Captain will turn of ventilation in your assigned seat.." - When I finally get to my seat, after a 2 hour delay..., The seats don't recline? REALLY?????? There is no music to plug into? No movies? REALLY? What the hell is this a flying School Bus? - I am definitely NOT recommending this airline to anybody nor flying on it again, unless it's is my only choice in an emergency, but by choice, NEVER AGAIN! The worst part is that i have a return flight and have to go through this abuse in charges all over again. In sum, for the same round trip flight, vs another airline, this trip will cost me over $250.00 in excess with all the additional charges I encounter along the way. - Luggage upon arrival to longer to get to the Baggage Claim area than any other flight I have EVER taken in my life. In sum, how do I feel, in addition to already being annoyed that i have my return flight with you again?..... I don't ever want to fly on this airline again and would not recommend it to ANYBODY! It's a freaking uncomfortable and unpleasant rip off."

Outside was $55 for a bags and $65 at the gate. Which is $10 more for each additional bags. This is stealing money from people and they are sending passengers away from Spirit airlines. The toilets didn't have toilet paper or anything to dry one's hands, but in a wonderful turn of events, I was offered a "complimentary cocktail napkin" when I pointed this out. I understand that Spirit is the "get what you pay for" airline. Apparently I forgot to pay for hygiene, privacy, timeliness, and decency - I'd advise anyone else to remember to pay for them ahead of time."

It was small little bag and the lady told me that unless is my purse or laptop which I didn't have anything other than that I had to pay $50 .I was very disappointed about that."

Cons: "I missed my flight along with others because of a delay going through the TSA security check. Arrived at the gate 14 minutes prior to departure. An international traveler with a small child was waiting to board as well. The CSA had just walked down the jetway and was suppose to return. Four minutes later the flight pushed out of the gate, departing 10 minutes early. The staff knew of the TSA delay. If I had made my flight it would have cost me an additional $100 dollars to check my carry on suite case that I have been flying with for the past two years on other airlines without any fee. Spirit Air requires you to have a smaller carry on suitcase than the rest of the industry. So my $96 dollar fare would now be $196. American Air was also offering a deal at the time for $91, but the time did not work with my schedule. Spirit Air is not a deal. If you check your carry on suitcase on line it will cost you $45. If you check your bag at the gate it will cost you $65. If you check your bag while boarding it will cost you $100. Traveller beware!"

More importantly was the unwillingness to use those credits towards the return leg of my flight and therefore having to cancel it and then purchase another one so the $100 credit could be applied. Overall a horrible experience."
