I picked up my budget rental car on a Sunday night at 9:30 in March 2026. I easily got onto the shuttle and went to the West Palm budget rental by the airport . As soon as I got there, I definitely saw a long line of customers waiting to meet with an associate to get their cars. There was no pre-check-in available that I knew of. That night there were only two attendants and I waited in that line for two full hours until 11:30 PM. The people that were elderly in line, we were getting chairs for so they could sit down because how many people can stand for two hours.?! it was a horrible experience. The two attendants were kind and said things had been like this for weeks. It had been busy. Someone questioned them and said stop renting cars then if you don’t have the staff to get us out of here.! It should be noted that I went with kayak because it’s a big name and I’ve heard good things. However, when I went to check out, it said I was with a subdivision company called Queeq?! I wasn’t real happy about that because I wanted kayak in the big name. The price was a little bit cheaper than other companies. However, nothing was worth standing in line over two hours for I would’ve paid extra. I would’ve gotten out of line and gone with another company however I felt that since I still had a reservation and confirmation that I would’ve been charged if I didn’t pick it up.Reviewed Mar 30 2026

When we went to assigned car it had been double booked and someone else was getting into it. This seemed to happen to a few people. That was frustrating but resolved. Just created a delay.Reviewed Mar 29 2026

I waited for over an hour before my prepaid vehicle appeared for pick up, there was no walk around inspection or any directions given at all...I was suppose to receive a late model Corolla or a Civic but got a beater of a Kia K5 turbo that had over 75+ scratches and blemishes, extremely noisy tires and obviously had very little maintenance (engine compartment was filthy, air filter was absolutely clogged with debris, fluids were low, oil filthy, wondered if it was an employee's vehicle))...had a check engine light come on 3 rd day of rental...returned it and was given a nearly new Nissan Altima with absolutely no issue or discussion...this car that worked out as it should...point is that they knew they were off loading a junker in the first place which compromised a third of a day of my valuable holiday time...there is a not so customer friendly vibe at the Kona Airport Budget Rental that's obvious at the front desk (Skinny blonde agent in particular) and out on the return lot, surly unfriendly lot girls on car return. I won't ever rent a car on Kona from these folks....Budget would do well to do a check up on this very busy operation because this has been going on a long time.....they definitely do not deserve the rental bonanza they have inherited.Reviewed Mar 29 2026

Not only was I charged over $200 by the third party (QEEQ), but Budget has now charged my card once upon the first day of rental over $200 and now that the rental is over, my card is being charged over $800. There had been no damage to the car and I feel deceived by Budget and the third party booking company,Reviewed Mar 29 2026

The A/C was broken and the "check engine light" came on while driving to the hotel. We called Budget and they said my husband could return the car even though it was in my name. When he got back to the airport, they would not exchange it without me. So he had to drive all the way back to the hotel in the broken down car to get me! They should look at the cars before they release them and their internal communication should be consistent! Easy things for them to correct and prevent extensive hassle for customers like us!Reviewed Mar 29 2026
