Intermediate SUV

I reserved an intermediate SUV. Got email confirmation from kayak. Went to Hertz and they had reserved for me a small EV. Not big enough to fit my family. They told me if i wanted a bigger car i would have to pay more. They had no record of me requesting an intermediate SUV. They told me that I would have to talk to Kayak to get a refund. They told me they are unable to process refunds and that kayak is responsible for that. I am not sure that is true. I called hertz national customer service and they said they would refund but didnt give me a specific confirmation number. We ended up not getting the car. I still dont know if we are getting a refund

It was great on the Burlington, VT end. The worst at the New Bern, NC end

Cons:

Got to New Bern, NC to return the car and no attendant could be found. Waited almost an hour and no one showed at the counter nor did they answer phone when I tried that. Left key and car. Receipt emailed me charged different rates than quoted thru Hertz on paperwork when car picked up. Tried calling Hertz and couldn’t get a person. Will call Credit card company to negate charges.

The attendant at Burlington knew I was dropping off the vehicle in Paramus NJ, but tried to give me an EV with very little range, which would not have made the trip. I got her to give me a different vehicle, but she gave me a Mustang with rear wheel drive and not great tires. Unfortunately it snowed the that night and I almost could not make it out of Burlington because the roads were not plowed. Luckily it did not snow further south and I was able to make the trip. Rear wheel drive in Vermont in the Winter is never a good idea. Had I known it was so bad in the snow, I probably would have requested a different vehicle. Luckily I am a very experienced driver and was able adapt and navigate the slick roads without incident. However, the person at the drop off in NJ was great. He was very understanding and helpful. Great employee.

Unfortunately we had a terrible experience. The wait was over two hours. The line was infinite. Thankfully my two year old behaved and patiently waited. Nevertheless, everyone in line was extremely upset. The car was dirty and full of garbage. I will never rent with Budget again. Kind regards, Peter Ventre

They assigned me an electric car. My reservation was from Vermont to Buffalo, same day drop off. Electric car only has range of 200 miles. Ibwouls have had to stop and charge the car twice on the trip. It takes 1-4 hours to charge each time. Obviously wouldn't work. They charged me $30 upgrade fee to get a gas car. This is higher than if I booked a gas car to begin with.

Nothing wrong. Jennifer at check in was outstanding. Only problem was difficulty getting in and out of the model 3. I have a model y and access is much easier. But that was no fault of Dollar. Otherwise, the experience was nice and smooth.

Pick up in Burlington was great—quick and easy, friendly and helpful staff. Drop off in DC at Union Station was horrible—drove around for an hour trying to find the return location, signs were either nonexistent or just plain wrong, and later got charged for fuel because the gas tank wasn’t full due to the extra hour of driving, even though staff at the drop-off location said they would waive the charges. Even at the drop-off location, almost no staff and signs, some employee had to waive me down and told me to park in a random spot to return the car rather than a proper return lane. No way to protest charges except to fill out a random feedback form.

First of all, there were no Dollar agents at the rental service and the service was handled through Hertz. Returned the rental car one day early and they stated that there would be no refund since the transaction was made through Kayak. Extremely poor customer service.

We arrived and they had a sign that said if you made your reservation 48 hrs ago (we made it at least a month prior) Or going one way (we were driving a total of 10-12 hours with 3 stops and in remote areas) they did not have a car. When we got to the counter, they said they didn’t even have any reservation for us at all! And when I asked what do we do? They said take an uber or a taxi. Really? We paid $65 to get to the ferry and had to figure out to get to Westport, NY , then Ticonderoga,NY, Williamsport, PA and eventually Philadelphia, PA And renting through another car r ed natal was not an option. There weren’t any cars anywhere. Stressful is an understatement.

I liked the convenient and efficient process of getting my car. My return flight was very early and I also appreciated the convenience of dropping the key in the return box. The car I rented was a Toyota RAV4 and it was wonderful!!! Car was clean and running well.
