Pros: The unique charm and characer of the hotel was very appealing. The food in the Veranda cafe was excellent, especially the Sunday Brunch. Very nice and helpful staff. Great setting with walking distance to restaurants and sights.
Cons: I had a room facing the river and the train depot. Beautiful view. The train whistle several times in the middle of the night was charming the first few nights but then I was not able to sleep. The staff switched me to a nice quiet room & I slept great
Pros: Charming without being cheesy. Actual historical site.
Cons: Not so much the hotel, but the construction in the area took away from the experience, not to mention the steady grain truck traffic.
Pros: Beautiful Historic hotel with staff that exceeded expectations! Our room and view of the river were wonderful! It felt great to have morning coffee, my free newspaper, and open the curtains to a panoramic view into history!!!
Cons: The room service menu needs some adjustments, fried breaded items do not fare well under delivery covers! The breading gets moist and falls away from the main food item. Examples: Breaded Fish, and onion rings.
Pros: Very nice inside, had different places to eat very quiet and within walking distance of different things to see and do.
Pros: Friendly staff great history
Pros: The room was amazing and had a great view! Very Clean.
Cons: The shops either weren't open yet or had just closed as we were checking in. The bar/restaurant that opened later was rediculously high priced. We ended up walking to a very nice smaller resaurant.
Take in the views from the rooftop terrace when you stay at St James Hotel. Guests can visit the spa to be pampered with massages, facials, or body treatments, and The Port, one of 2 restaurants, serves dinner. Rooms at this historic hotel get the details right with nice touches like MP3 docks, premium bedding, and pillow menus.
Pros: Friendly, knowledgeable staff, clean modern rooms, tall ceilings in rooms, great breakfast choices, reasonable price, close to the casino where we went to a concert.
Cons: Not really.....it was all good for us!
Pros: Easy access quiet location nice appearance
Cons: Small refrigerator Prize
Pros: very nice room
Pros: Breakfast was good!
Cons: For what the cost was of the room it wasn't worth it!
We had a perfectly awful time at the Comfort Inn and Suites in Red Wing. Not only was the management upset with us for complaining that there was drug use going on around us on our floor we, which we could clearly smell, but he would not refund any of the money for our stay, unless we apologized for having said that they were handling the situation incorrectly. He held a refund up in our faces like a carrot and said that if we apologized, he would give us one night free. But it didn't matter, because we had already paid for both nights, not slept at all, needing to turn the air conditioning down to 65 degrees to get and keep the caustic smell of K2 out of our room, resulting in Mrs. Graf getting a cold after our return home, and then we were able to check into the St. James Hotel for the last night of our stay in Red Wing, where we did have a lovely night. There were no drug smells there, and beautiful service. Mind you-the Comfort Inn was a smoke free facility!!! Our choice in sending letters about our abysmal experience to the individuals we did, is in the hope that there can be some changes in the Comfort Inn's way of doing things. If it is truly a smoke free facility, then patrons should not have to smell drug smoke, as well as not having to smell cigarette smoke. They should also be treated to hospitality, as we tried to get the desk clerk there to understand. He acted as if he had never learned to spell hospitality, let alone decipher the meaning of it. We also hope that the Red Wing Chamber of Commerce, to whom we also sent a letter, will learn that, with many, many closed and boarded up stored in Red Wing, and the corresponding unkempt sidewalks in front of those stores, they do not need service such as we experienced from this hotel, to chase potential business out of town.
Pros: Letters have been sent to-(1)the hotel(2) CEO of the hotel chain(3)Commissioner of the MN Department of Public Safety,Drug and Violent Crime Task Force(4) Red Wing Chiefs of Police and Fire Dept.
Cons: There was the strong smell of K2 being smoked on the 2nd floor of the hotel starting at 1 am on Sunday June 21. Our complaints were met with disbelief & efforts to make us out to be somehow wrong to have registered this information to the desk.
Pros: awesome staff, very friendly, full breakfast was very tasty, everything well stocked, for being busy on saturday morning. beds very comfortable and rooms very clean.
Cons: no complaints
Pros: It was quite and it was very clean. The bed was super comfy and huge! I would definitely recommend this place.
Cons: Elevator is super slow
Pros: Friendly staff.
Cons: Noisy occupants at 1:30 am in the room next door.
Pros: Lots of room, very inviting
Cons: tub had a slow drain....really slow drain and I forgot to mention it to them. :-(
Pros: We loved staying at the Country Inn and Suites! This hotel was exceptional in service, quality of rooms, and cleanliness. It was quiet and relaxing!
seemed like a lot of children running around
Pros: Close to family and events. Room was clean and stocked
Cons: Breakfast was not that good
I am usually uneasy about staying in a hotel. I would rather travel in my RV, but it has been too cold to do that, and I had to be in Red Wing, MN that weekend. The room was clean and I felt safe there. Also we at at the resturant across the parking lot, - the Smokin' Oak - and it was terriffic! I recommend the restaurant highly. My teens wanted to go back again.
Pros: Clean, comfortable room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the continental breakfast, and the pool.
Cons: The parking lot was very full in the evening - probably because of the restaurant. I felt it was a little overpriced ($140/night March 28 & 29)
100% smoke free property conveniently located in Historic Red Wing. Redwing Pottery is only 1 block from the hotel. Our new hotel offers double sided fireplace in lobby/breakfast room, enhanced complimentary breakfast, indoor pool, hot tub and fitness center.
Pros: We were in Red Wing to attend a concert at the Sheldon Theatre. The Americinn was within walking distance to the Bayside Tap Room and Grill and another restaurant. Historic DT Red Wing is close, too far for a walk on a cold winter night, but I'd walk it in summer.
Front desk staff was friendly. We couldnt find parking spots when we retuned late at night and the front desk person found a solution.
Coffee on the breakfast bar was surprisingly good.
When visiting Red Wing, AmericInn Lodge & Suites Red Wing is a great choice to consider. You can get a morning swim in at the indoor pool, and the spa tub makes for a relaxing end to the day. There's a terrace, and rooms offer flat-screen TVs and refrigerators.
Pros: Nice quiet hotel The staff accomodated us with a first floor room. Can do stairs but not with suitcase.
Cons: No elevator
Pros: Staff was very nice.
Cons: Breakfast area was in renovation mode.
Pros: The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was nice in our room.
Cons: THe pool was a little chilly and there was no hot tub. The lobby smelled like tons of cleaners.

Pros: Location and price
Cons: Old and needs remodeling
Pros: good location to my activities and eating choices
I found a used heroin syringe (needle removed, syringe capped) and nasty pair of men's shorts underneath our bed. After notifying the motel worker of this, she was very apologetic for the unclean room, the fact that there were no other rooms available for her to switch us to, and the gross negligence of the maid. She offered me 1/2 off the cost of the night, and knowing that every place in town was booked for the night, we had no choice but to accept.
Pros: Kind staff.
Cons: My hotel room was not cleaned properly, as I found a heroin syringe in it. Room was dingy.
Just a standard older hotel. just fine for the price . Decent bed and pillows . Had fridge and microwave . A/C was cold .
Cons: Loud people outside of our door.

Pros: Good value for the money. Front desk guy was awesome.
Cons: Handle of the bathroom faucet was not secured and would fall into the sink easily.
Pros: If you are visiting the MN correctional facility next door, its got great proximity! They have a super dirty pool!
So crappy you won't want to stay there, will be quick to bed and early to rise, you'll surely be disappointed.
Cons: There is literally nothing good say about this place, arguably one of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in. Bugs, gross smell, peeling paint, had to double check room for cleanliness and bed bugs. Sticky floor, rooms all reeked of cigarettes (even though it was non-smoking), shotty A/C & Heater. You couldn't pay me to stay there again.
We slept in our clothes on top of the bed sheets and left early in the morning.
Pros: Not a lot
Cons: As a consumer I would have liked to know it was right next to a correctional facility. Had a lovely view of the facility from our window. The place needs some major updating.
Pros: It was easy to find
Cons: The room was pretty gross, needed to be repainted and was only cleaned in the high traffic areas
Pros: I liked the motel feel, feeling like you're secluded.
Cons: No Sunday papers and very very limited breakfast.
Pros: Television worked
Plenty of hot water
Manager was kind enough to set up continental breakfast for me when I had to leave before the normal breakfast time.
Cons: Peeling paint, non-working lamps, old and patched, non-professional remodeling showing in workmanship and details, cleanliness was cursory and first appearance of the room had me checking the mattress for cleanliness and pests.
