Do a detailed video recording of the whole vehicle, not only damages but areas that normally don’t qualify anywhere else for such consideration. I say this especially for US customers that are accustomed to different (higher) standards and honest service.

Roads in Hungary are well maintained and people drive safely. The only issue is that as motorways are limited you may incur in some traffic so take it into account when planning timings.

Don’t drive like you would at home. Pay attention and don’t get road rage when you drive in the fast lane and somebody comes up behind you. Pull over and let them pass

Make it very clear about the gas pumps in Europe, that there are eight different kinds of fuel and do not fill without knowing exactly what is at the pump.
KAYAK’s top tips for renting a car in Budapest
It is well worth considering renting a car during your time in Budapest, especially if you are a family traveling together. While for the most part public transportation is widely available, at times it can be laborious and time consuming to use. This is particularly the case if you would like to visit the many tourist destinations in the city’s neighboring areas. For instance, Esztergom is the former capital of Hungary and is just 60 km away from Budapest. There is also the Gödöllő Palace, which is a mere 30 km from the city.
Is step one of your vacation in Hungary picking up the rental car? For travelers with flights landing at Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport, the rental car desks are conveniently located in the main hall of the airport.
In Budapest there are strictly no right turns on red at intersections. The only time this does not apply is when there is a separate green turn signal indicating that you may turn. Drivers caught turning right on red risk fines and there is no leeway given to travelers who claim to not know that this was a rule.
Rush hour traffic in Budapest, like many capital cities, can be rough at times. Drivers can expect the morning rush hour to start around 7:00 a.m. and last until 9:30 a.m., while in the afternoon the traffic picks up again at around 4:00 p.m. and cools down at about 7:00 p.m. The central business district is one of the worst-hit areas, particularly in the evening, so travelers are advised to avoid it at those times if they can.
Cheap car rentals in Budapest must have a special sticker known as a ‘vignette’ to drive through toll roads in the city. Usually, rental agencies in the city will provide you with a sticker or advice on where to acquire one. Vehicles must turn on their dipped headlights while driving in town during the daytime. The local traffic law strictly does not tolerate drunk driving. You attract a DUI charge by getting behind the wheel with an alcohol concentration of more than 0%.
Vehicles on Budapest intersections must yield to any vehicle approaching the right side. Moreover, Budapest car rentals must avoid Highways 1, 2, and 4 as they tend to be hotspots for traffic during rush hours. Budapest has six bridges since the Danube River splits the city approximately into two halves, Buda on the west and Pest on the east. These are the Arpad, Margaret, Elizabeth, Chain, Petofi, Rakoczi, and Liberty bridges. The Petofi and Margaret bridges are connected through the Grand Boulevard, the main route cutting across the center. Budapest car rentals should use the main ring roads, which have good asphalt and plenty of space for full-size rentals.
Roads in the hilly Buda and in between roads may contain potholes and unforeseen speed bumps. Cyclists flock to Budapest roads. Some roads require drivers to share lanes with cyclists. These roads demand extra caution from cheap drivers in Budapest to prevent accidents. Some road intersections also have bicycle traffic lights. Most one-way streets allow cycling in both directions, making them more dangerous. Overtake with caution on such roads if you need to. Some major roads have reserved the right-most lane for cyclists, taxis, and buses. Watch for signs clearly stating car lanes when driving on major roads to avoid using the wrong lane and incurring fines. Scooters have also increased in popularity within Budapest streets and contribute to road congestion. Make sure to drive conservatively to avoid hitting them.

On the website, it says that they are charging $200 security deposit but when arriving at the rental counter, they ask me for €500 security deposit and the person next to me they asked for €1250 security deposit so I’m not sure how this works but be ready to have a big clearance on your credit card
Extremely poor experience. I have been warned that the company will attempt to overcharge for damages that were not caused by me and that are/or minor scratches that they have no intention repairing and are simply require a re-buffing. Scratches that other companies -in my experience renting in multiple countries and agencies- would not record as they fall under generally accepted standards. I was recommended by friends to do a walk-around and video-record the condition of the car in great detail. Unfortunately I didn’t do that as I found no significant damages. When I picked up the car, there was no one available to check the car’s condition and when I dropped it off the agents said there is no need for him checking as he believed me there were no issues to report. Next day I received and invoice already charged to my card for damages I didn’t cause. Next invoice for rental with multiple VAT that are not applicable to non-EU residents and were not disclosed at the time of pickup. I would never go back to this company in Hungary. Other countries maybe, but would avoid doing business with them in Hungary.

The car and the pickup process were fine, but the issue was that I was given two options of extra payment and they were both very expensive. The first one was an extra 30 euros for returning the car, paying the highway fee at the gas station (potentially more complicated and expensive) and a potential fine for a not spotted cleaned the car at the returning and the second one was an extra insurance (almost 3 times the rental I've already paid). Not ok

The pick up was ok. The car had a problem besides it was filthy. The biggest problem the car would not start when I stopped and tried to restart it. Hence they refused to fill with petrol and then budget charged my card $185 to fill the car. A Toyota Yaris Rip off watch out
