We reserved a car with Budget through Hotwire & Kayak. When we arrived at the location in Longmont--after paying for a Lyft ride all the way from Denver, and after wasting several hours, as it turns out--I was brusquely informed by the frazzled "agent" that there were no cars, that Hotwire/Kayak should not have posted the availability, and that we were out of luck. She, of course, insisted that Budget was not responsible (although they are the ones who released the car availability onto the websites), and offered no help at all. Upon calling Hotwire, the agent (and the supervisor) spoke terrible, barely understandable English, but through the "language barrier," they of course insisted that Budget was to blame, and that Hotwire bore no responsibility. I will NEVER USE BUDGET OR HOTWIRE AGAIN-- and I USED to be a Budget Fastbreak member!5.2 Fair

Pros:
The pickup experience was shockingly poor. The vehicle size I rented was not available after getting a Lyft ride to get to the rental agency. I was told that I should have arrived at 8am if I wanted to get the car I reserved. Instead I was forced to accept a much smaller vehicle which was not going to carry the items I needed to transport. The attendant was kind, but my frustration was high.Cons:
Clear communication! I created the rental reservation the day before with the same attendant I picked up the vehicle from. He failed to inform me that I needed to arrive when the Enterprise opened in the morning or else risk not getting a vehicle in the class I needed. The only silver lining was paying less than I expected.Hertz

despite taking my reservation for a specific class of vehicle, they didnt honor it then they upcharged me for lesser class (4x4 pickup reserved, got a compact suv, its all they had) extra mystery charges on my credit card i will need to disputeCons:

We hated this experience. We needed an all wheel drive or 4 wheel drive vehicle for a trip and the location never bothered to contact us to let us know they did not have a vehicle for us. We arrived at Hertz and before the end of the day according to their GOOGLE and WEBSITE hours but the location was closed with shortened hours they never updated. We called Hertz to see if they would honor the rate for the following morning only to be told they could not find our reservation, as it was cancelled. We printed off the information to head back the following morning only to be told they had never even had a vehicle which would have met our needs. Either way, the trip had to be cancelled and was non refundable because we could not find a rental to meet our needs. We were given NO notice and I found that inexcusable.Cons:

Based on previous rentals I was pleased with the complete process. The rental car I was easy to use. a bonus was that I could leave it at Abra, which saved h a trip from Denver. I really was pleased and cannot think of anything that would have made it better!2.0 Poor

Had to drive through a winter storm coming home, the wipers and head lights where very hard to keep from freezing up. Also at drop off on a Sunday, had no idea where to find the odometer reading on the car!?! Got a trip milage but never did find where the odometer reading was2.0 Poor
