Cons: The return line was so full of cars and so under staffed that we had to leave the vehicle and hope that the billing would be taken care of accurately. we could not even see the return staff from the end of the line where we parked.

Cons: You need to be careful with what they tell you. I upgraded to a larger vehicle and they told me no extra charge. Then when I go to check out there is an additional charge of almost 40.00$s. Their explanation was since I prepaid the gas I brought it on empty but because it was snigger car I had to pay the extra gas. 40.00$??!! So I did not have to pay, but it was a fight. No way to do business.

Pros: Friendly and knowledgeable reps that completed the paperwork quickly with no surprises. The lot attendants were very considerate and every employee was helpful and cheerful. Clearly a well run location in Nashville.

Great car, tricky changes at the counter.
Pros: The car, a Nissan Altima, was comfortable, clean, and fun to drive.
Cons: I made the reservation online with all my preferences, but my husband picked it up and ended up paying more than I'd planned or reserved because they sold unnecessary insurance at the counter (our policy covers rentals). I know it's our responsibility to know what we need, but if they had kept my reservation details and not tried to upsell at pickup, we would have saved money and stayed in our travel budget.

Don't extend your rental without reading the fine
Cons: I needed to extend my rental by one day. That day would have cost me a weekly rate and a 175.00 additional charge for the car and coverage. I turned the car in and rented a car from another company, saving me $100 or so.
Pros: I read some reviews that made me nervous I was going to have a hard time, but it ended up being a good choice for me. I picked up my car in Memphis, and returned it after driving to Nashville. In both places, I found friendly staff, short lines, enough cars to choose from, car was in great condition and very clean, and a super easy return process. And all for a really great price.
Cons: nothing - my experience went very smoothly.

Heavy tobacco smoke smell
Cons: The car was supposed to be a non-smoking car, but reeked of a heavy smoker. It was the only compact on the lot so we had no choice but to take it.

Pros: We landed at 9 pm thinking we had a rental. They were closed because they had given our car away (we found out from the next door rental service). We later had to pay $400 for what was a $30 initial rental.

Cons: The distance of walking in Nashville from the desk to the car, it would be awesome if Kayak could work out a deal to use the rewards member pick up areas at airports.

Cons: The reservation was for mid siize sedan. When I arrived, I was told I would pay extra for each day for the car I reserved versus a smaller car. I did not have time to push the issue. The reservation quote versus what I paid was incorrect.

Pros: Visited Nashville and rented a car for the day. The staff were extremely nice and helpful. The newer model car was in great condition with many extra features. It was spotless inside and out. And when we brought it back the next day, they were nice enough to give us a ride to the airport at no extra charge.

Friendly, pleasant rental experience
Pros: This Enterprise location was fantastic. It was easy to find, was near the airport, and the staff was great. I was served quickly and enjoyed talking to the clerk, who was also nice enough to suggest where we could grab lunch (it was great!). Really pleased with the overall experience.
Cons: The only downside was that there was no shuttle from the airport, so we had to take a cab.

Cons: Had a flat tire on the 2nd day and it was a huge hassle to get it fixed or get another car. Enterprise expected me to go to a separate location and wait the entire day to get the tire fixed and then they would reimburse me. The 2nd option was to come later in the day to get another vehicle, which required a 30 min drive each way on a tire they may or may not make it. In the end we had the extend the rental to take care of the problem and they charged double the original rate to extend for one day.

Pros: GREAT car, was perfect for what we needed. drop off for different location was pricey but better than other companies.
Pros: I liked the price per day and the convenience of airport location and unlimited mileage.
Cons: Back seat was quite dirty. Long waiting time in line at reservation desk to pickup car even though I had made the reservation on line earlier in the week. Reservations don't get any priority service it seems.

Terrible car rental
Cons: I reserved a Large car because I was traveling with 2 kids and my wife. We had two car seats, 1 facing forward and the other backwards, along with a crib, stroller and our large suitcase. When we arrived the attendant said he had one car left and it was a midsize with no offer to refund any of the fees. When we go to the car it took 30 minutes to get the car seats in along with the other luggage because it was like a puzzle, we almost could not get everything in. I sat in the passenger seat and had my knees up on the dash as there was no room left after putting the car seat in and having to push the seat all the way forward. I have heard of upgrades on car rentals but never a downgrade and not even an apology. I call the 800# number the following day to complain and they took down all my information and said I would get a call within 72 hours. 72 hours is pretty much the end of my trip, so much for getting the car I reserved. Oh and I am still waiting for that call or email from the customer service center and we are on day 5. I will never use Payless and I would suggest that you don't either. Read Twitter if you want more feedback.

Nice car! But cost more than stated.
Pros: It was a great, new car. Pick up was uneventful but finding the car wasn't the greatest. But it was the size of the airport.
Cons: It ended up costing $75 more than originally stated. It ended up being maybe an hour extra maybe but we were charge for like 3 extra hours. I think we picked it up 15 minutes earlier. They get you for every single extra minute by charging you an extra hour no matter if it is 2 minutes or 58 minutes. AND trying to find the drop off was insane. That added a whole extra hour to our time! The signage is horrible and completely missed it 3 times. They had one agent handling 3 different companies. These companies end up being the cheapest when reserving a rental but in the long run probably are not worth it because you end up paying so much more in the end.

Cons: Took 30+ minutes to sort out pricing from kayak at pickup. Good customer service but tried to upsell too many options. Didn't have compact cars available, but larger van was nice alternative. Could have been cleaner.

Cons: Very deceptive... I was told to sign here and here; agent never said sign for loss damage waiver. I never accept that. I should have looked more closely, but they need to tell you what you are signing, not just "sign here". Bad business practices... I won't be back!

Horrible service from Hertz- pick another carrier
Pros: Car was fine- good mileage.
Cons: First, when I came to pick up my reserved care at the designated time, I was informed that I would be placed on a waiting list for a car. When I asked why I had a reservation with a confirmation number that no car was available, I could get no answer nor did I get any sympathy or apology. There were several folks in line, all of whom seemed unhappy. After I complained a bit, suddenly a car was available. When I went up to get the car, there were several cars on the lot, which I found frustrating. Eventually (45 minutes after my reservation time) I got the car. I have rented from Enterprise several times and NEVER had a problem like this. I've learned my lesson and will never rent from Hertz again.

Cons: To be a mid-size SUV, it seemed a bit small. Not sure what a small SUV would be, but a Jeep Compass should be considered small.

They Withheld the Vehicle
Cons: When we arrived at BNA, we went straight to Hertz to pick up our car. I was to be the driver (I'm 26, traveling with a friend who is 24, and we wanted to avoid underage fees), and my friend paid with her credit card since I couldn't afford it at the time. It was NOT CLEAR when we placed our order that this was not allowed (different name on card and reservation). I did go back and look at the website later, and found this clause in a light, small print hidden at the bottom, but I wouldn't have seen it unless I was looking for it.
So when we arrived, the lady at Hertz told us that our reservation was no good and she couldn't change it or fix it. She told us the only way to change it is to either have me pay for it (which I could not afford) or to add $40/day in fees for the entire 9 days we were to be there. $40/day in fees. She said there was nothing she could do and we'd have to go rent from someone else.
She couldn't cancel for us, so we wound up on the phone with Hertz, who proceeded to hit us with a $100 cancellation fee. They hit us with a $100 cancellation fee after being forced to cancel our reservation. When we protested, they told us to request a refund online. We looked all over their website and found nowhere to do so.
In short, Hertz has unclear guidelines, a lot of non-negotiable hidden fees, and a staff who is unwilling to help us find a solution. This was exhausting. Never renting from Hertz again.
