Bad experience with Hertz pick up. I reserved and paid up front so we could just go to the car and skip the counter. Trudged the length of the garage, stowed luggage and then couldn’t start the car because the key fob was dead. Unloaded and Walked all the way back to a kiosk in 90 degree heat. Waited a half hour for the CSR to get done talking to another employee while ignoring customers. Finally was assigned another car, no apologies or upgrade and we left a half hour beyond our pickup time. Terrible.

Hertz is good but not awesome. I don’t care for how they reel you in at one price thinking that’s what your going to pay and then when you get there your actually paying $100 more. That’s a false advertisement. If I’m paying $265 for my car, you should be telling me that up front, not after I get to the airport and pick my car out.

Toyota 4 Runners have got to be the most uncomfortable vehicles I have ever driven. This car was in dire need of a tire balance and rotation. You had to fight it to stay stable in your lane when driving. It also kept having warnings come up that it needed an oil change right after we picked it up. Pick up at Nashville was fine but drop off could have been better with airport signage not being super clear on where to go and no one there to direct where exactly they wanted me to pull in. When someone finally did come, he was hateful because he didn’t like where I pulled into.

The minivan was not as clean as it should have been inside. Obvious surfaces were clean, but the parcel trays and such (it was a minivan) had old chunks of food, crumbs, etc. still there uncleaned. Overall the van was in good condition and comfortable, and was the best value available for what we needed.

The gentlemen at the gate leaving the rental parking lot was friendly and welcoming.

Cons:

There was a long line to pick up outside, we had a reservation for a specific time. Also, when I book there was the option for economy, compact and “staff choice” for the same price, choose staff choice and got the smallest car available (economy), I would have picked compact if I knew. The wait at the airport was the worse for sure, it was windy and cold. We found out later they had a counter indoors but there was no signage guiding us.
