Located in the heart of the city near the shopping mecca of Oak Street's Boutique Row, the Hotel Indigo® Chicago Downtown Gold Coast hotel defines chic in its design and décor, while our staff is passionate about warmly welcoming guests and helping them explore our neighborhood. On-site, our Gold Coast Spa pampers with nail and facial treatments. Look for an amazing permanent art collection by neo-impressionist and former neighborhood resident Bill Olendorf in our building, or take a stroll outside: we’re walking distance to Oak Street Beach, with miles of running and biking paths, and also just minutes from the Magnificent Mile, Old Town and many other attractions in downtown Chicago.
- Fantastic location: wherein most hotels are in the Loop which is dead on the weekends, this is in gorgeous Gold Coast, walking distance to the magnificent mile, Old Town/Wells St. shops & restaurants, and even Lincoln Park, and an easy cab or bus to Wicker Park. In short, you can do touristy stuff, but you don't have to live in the craziness of it and can easily access the neighborhoods more representative of Chicago (we used to live in Chicago). - Funky design and atmosphere. Not to everyone's taste, but much better than nondescript alternatives in the price range.
- Reception staff helps out, but none were the least bit friendly. - Gym had decent cardio and weight machines but could use more than exactly 3 dumbbells. - Small rooms.
The location - right around the corner from the red train line. A few blocks from magnificent mile and close proximity to other stores (cvs, wing stop, etc) and restaurants (Lou malnati, local pub/tavern, etc.). Staff was helpful and nice.
The hotel was clearly renovated, however it was done cheaply. Wall paper was peeling, rust could be seen in a few spots, some poorly covered up/hidden. Cheap laminate flooring was bowing.
At first appearance the hotel room seemed small, but would work. Once we turned down the bed our sheets were either dirty or stained. We called to have them changed and someone finally came to the door to hand is a stack of bedding. We had to tell them to actually change the sheets as we weren't touching them. Same thing with the towels... They appeared to be stained or dirty. Grossed me out. In addition, there were a large amount of bachelorette parties that weekend. I didn't hear any noise from them, however witnessed a lot of genitalia toys & cakes as we came and went.
Great location, very clean, cute rooms, helpful staff
Drinks are expensive at the bar
adorable, clean, good location.
Hotel wasnt very accommodating to early check ins. house keeping came by way to early in morning, like 8am.
Great location, good price.
Parking was a bit of a nightmare, and the bed was like a rock, so uncomfortable!
Clean, with friendly staff.
It's pet-friendly, but someone should tell the pet owners that their pets should NOT be allowed on the foyer couches!!
The staff was friendly.
The down pillows.
The staff was seldom helpful, let alone polite. We tried to order room service and the whole process took almost an hour. They didn't have anything on the menu they gave us in our room. They called and asked the same question 3 times... We ended up cancellin our meal and ordering elsewhere. They didn't give us anything in return for their mistakes. Not please for a first time trip to chicago.
Great area, friendly staff, clean, good value .
Needs some updating... As to torn shower curtain, dented. Scratched Lamp shade.
Very close to L stop, easy walking distance to nice restaurants, bars, etc. Room was clean, comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful.
