The bed frame had peeling leather, only one elevator was running, parts of the bathroom. Particularly the hidden areas didn’t seemed to be cleaned.
The place was a weird mix of slapdash renovated, "vintage," and grungy, with no real patterns between them. The staff were quite variably professional, one of the two guest floor elevators was (reportedly) being renovated, leaving only one functioning, there were two sets of elevator call buttons (attached to a weird DIY plywood box on the wall) on some floors, only one of which would actually work, the floor grout in the room bathrooms was all sorts of variable colors and had lots of who-knows-how-old detritus in the margins (too bad this review doesn't have a picture spot), there's no door on the shower cubicle (just a half-panel of glass) so water splashes out haphazardly, the place is kind of in the middle of nothing (the primary nearby neighbors are an office park and a high school) so you have to walk at least 10 minutes to get to much of anything, there's a 2-mile-radius complimentary shuttle but you have to set it up in advance and other guests were complaining at the front desk about it not meeting their needs so I didn't bother, there's a nasty chemical air freshener scent in the entry vestibule that would've given me a migraine if I'd stayed there long, the in-room heater/AC (I think it might be a mini-split?) was hella noisy so I had to turn it off to get any sleep, there was a weird irregular/arrhthymic tapping noise coming through the walls (or ceiling?) at many hours of the night and early morning that also made it hard to sleep, the breakfast buffet is 18 bucks so even if you have HHonors Gold or Diamond (which gets you a $15/day meal credit instead of the usual continental breakfast benefit) you'll still have to shell out if you want a comprehensive breakfast... Also for some reason locals don't seem to know the name of this place? Everyone I was talking with in University Circle didn't know what/where it was until I described it as "the DoubleTree at Carnegie and Stokes," at which point most got it. Weird. At least the nut-free cookies were nice, and you got two little bottles of Niagara bottled water in your room daily for free. Too bad I probably won't be staying here to have 'em again, even if it was cheaper than some nearby options (I had wondered why, until my stay).
Only one elevator works still
Pros. Great Location
Cons. Had somthing missing from my room and no resolution to it. Took forever for the housekeeping to get rooms cleaned everyday so often went without
Pros. They helped me arrange to have flowers there for our anniversary and if we need to stay somewhere, we are picking this one again.
Cons. Tv in the room was a little old.
Pros. Loved the rooms and comfort of the bed. Enjoyed the services provided.
Cons. Did not like that there isn't much diversity in the staff.
Pros. The valet staff was amazingly friendly and polite.
Cons. The room views were so-so. We kept finding long black hair around the room (my hair is short and dyed red, his is short and light brown). The shampoo/shower gave me dry scalp.
Pros. Every staff member smiled and were sincerely friendly (from Maintenance, Valet Reception and everything in between. The Canopy Restaurant was Excellent; Servers' Julia and Paloma were fabulous at their jobs and very nice women. Having to spend long days at the Cleveland Clinic with very ill daughter this was a great place to come back to and have dinner. Prices very reasonable. My husband commented that The Tudor Arms Hotel, a ,Beautiful Historical Building, was a real find. We ate in the restaurant each night and was great to see the same people.
Cons. Had to have a hotel close to the Cleveland Clinic and this was the 3rd closest with better rate than the other two. The rate was a little high having to stay for a week. I booked 1st part of week and rebooked for rest and they waived the $20.00 a day parking fee for the first booking as we had a patient at the Clinic; did not waive for rest of the week. We arrived on Sunday early evening and our Flat Screen TVs had no digital signal and they could not be fixed or replaced until Tuesday. My 80-year old mother was with me at the time and although our Junior Suite (Handicap Accessible) was great, having 2 not-functional TVs was a real problem for someone spending most of the time alone.
Pros. Friendly, helpful staff. Wood floors. Clean. Nice decor. Delicious restaurant. Convenient to Cleveland Clinic & Museum of Art. Comfortable bed. My husband loved the shower head.
Cons. Our door opened into the hallway, with slope. No inside chain on door. Bedside lights too bright and not over bedside table. Not much counter room in bathroom.
Pros. No finish my stay at the hotel . Was therty .sucio el baño.towels every bad
