Location was beautiful, owner was incredibly accommodating, view was spectacular, and room exceeded expectations. A bit hot at night, a fan was available but maybe a better way to position it in front of the door would help? Compared to how wonderful our stay was, this was a very minor concern.
excellent locvation and nice room This is not a hotel but for rooms for rent in a building. There is no hotel facilities like reception with this room. All dealings with the "management" have to be over the phone or in the next bar. The room is very noisy when it is windy outside.
The people who ran La Torre were very committed to making our stay a good one. They came to collect us in the village to show us the way up to the hotel. We also loved the rooftop area for relaxing with a glass of wine and a great view. It was a little noisy in the room as we could easily hear what other guests we doing in their rooms.
Owner or custodian needs to be more available to open rooms when travellers arrive, and sign with location and ph contact needs to be clearer and larger
Nice clean room. Great rooftop terrace with amazing views. Very simple process once we found it. Toilet smelled somewhat like vomit which was kind of discerning. We only came about the place because a bartender called the hotel manager. Random bit of luck got us there, I don't know what we would have done otherwise.
It had a roof top terrace that had excellent views of the town (better than the La Torre view which is one of the 2 viewpoints in the town). The toiletries are kinda cute. We had a comfortable night. Having the key to come and go as we please. Firstly there was nobody at reception (actually it doesn't seem like there is any reception) so we had to go to the town square and use the public phone to call their mobile number. Secondly when we went to our room the owner came with his dog and the dog was allowed to roam around our room and looked into one of our bags with food in it. I like dogs, but didn't think this was very clean. Lastly, the website said that credit cards were accepted, but the owner wanted cash.
The room was clean. Nice view at the roof top terrace. Check out time was a bit early. 11:00 or 12:00 would have been nicer.
I liked the view at the top of the Hotel but that's about it ! I didn't like the room which was really small and the bed was not comfortable. Not enough pillows and the sheets were not nice... The view from our window was not good. And we were awaken in the morning by the neighbours leaving their room: walls too thin ! I think it was really too expensive for what it is. No hair dryer. No breakfast for 80 euros !!
Execellent view and the food at the resturant was very good. The beds where extremely uncomfortable (Hard!)
It was probably exactly what I expected. Be prepared for the steps! Do not try to lug all your bags down. We put what we needed for the night into a couple plastic bags and took those to the room. But the view is incredible and that is why we stayed there. Location was particularly good for backpackers, hikers and students traveling. This is not a place for anyone with mobility problems. The kitchen faucet did not work. Everything was very clean. Bathroom far better than I would have expected.
The views from the terrace were exceptional. The good news ends here. The room itself was disgusting. The ceilings were low, the lighting was poor, there was no light, the shower was broken, the AC didn't work, and there was no terrace with a view as advertised.
The views were outstanding!! Can't get any better than up on a cliff overlooking the sea. A totally unobstructed view! It was magnificent!! Very quiet and secluded. We stayed in one of the apartments on the property, and while spacious, it was down an incredibly long succession of steps! We are both in really good shape, but carrying our huge bags down, and then up, those steps was difficult to say the least. And they did not even offer to help, of course. The only staff member there at check in was a very disinterested woman. I never saw anyone in the restaurant. There were literally about 20 cats roaming the grounds. Couldn't get heater to work in room. Nobody around when we wanted to check out. Very, very difficult to find. I can't imagine finding this place in the dark when there is no one out to give directions.
The cottage was great and had a small kitchen with all the supplies to make meals for yourself. The restaurant at the top was very good and served a nice dinner and breakfast. The views were amazing! We packed small bags from our large suitcases to take down to the cottage as the stairs made it impossible to take heavy bags up or down.Don't let this deter this hotel it was worth the stay.
The view The steps down
We really liked the location of the hotel. We were out of the hustle and bustle but in walking distance to everything.
not much Poor value for the cost. Place is dark and depressing matching the attitude of the staff.front desk is unwelcoming. If you want to walk up a lot of stairs, choose this place, they have a lift, but you basically can't use it unless you are pregnant. This was the worst hotel of our otherwise delightful trip.
Beautiful ocean view, great location, so close to train station, easy walking distance to all the sites in Montorusso Hotel staff spoke very little english, not friendly but not rude.
Location was great. Very clean. Comfortable bed. View overlooking sea.
Hotel very friendly, superb location right on sea front. Rooms clean and comfortable and we loved our balcony and wonderful sea view
The quiet after a busy day and the obliging staff, also the view from the balcony at the front of the room none to speak of
The view over Montorosso and the bay is spectacular! The shuttle up and down the mountain side ran only once every hour. We had to keep an eye on the time, otherwise we might have to wait an hour at the hotel or an hour in town to catch the shuttle.
The hotel was very clean and a beautiful location, although we booked late and had a room without a view. If we would have been on the view side we would have enjoyed the stay much more. Overall this was very nice. The breakfast is good, the service is solid. The location isn't bad even though you need the shuttle to at least return from Monterossa, but you could walk down the hill if you are in between shuttle times. We were sorry not to have a view room, but the only challenge was finding it. It would have been helpful to know that this is located in the "new town" of Monterrosa, not the old. We drove down to the old town first which has no parking and no one to really help you. The "TI" is just a kiosk and doesn't provide any help.
Room was spacious, bright and clean with an excellent view of the sea and coastline. Good shuttle service from town. My wife didn't care for the uphill walk from the town if we missed the shuttle.
The view was spectacular. The breakfast was terrific. The free shuttle bus was very helpful.
A quiet and nice hotel to stay at. A very good breakfast makes a good start to the day
It was a quiet hotel with a nice staff. The room and bath were a good size, the complimentary breakfast was very nice. It was set up on a hill in a garden setting with a fountain out front. The air conditioning was a bit weak, the first two evenings were very warm and it was uncomfortable sleeping. The tile floor in the bedroom was a bit dirty.
the breakfast was amazing and the servcie was excellent.
Very good breakfast, helpful staff, Overlooking the railway line, Access road to parking is very steep and difficult, only suitable for small cars.
It was a very comfortable place to be
I found the staff very very helpful, the facilities were very modern and clean. The assortment for breakfast was fresh and plentiful. The walk up the hill from the gate.
Picturesque site and location convenient to train station.
it is off the beaten path so it is quiet. you can hear the train but the noise is not bad. you can sit outside and read on nice lawn chairs. ocean is 2 blocks away. laundry facility one block away. quiet. a few blocks from the beach. walk up a short hill to get to the front door of the hotel, if you have heavy bags to carry it would be difficult. The hotel is being up dated. Some of the hotel is a 2 star not a 3 star. should be finished soon. Breakfast is good. Train station is walkable-about 4 blocks
Access to the glorious cinque terra.
The building is beautiful, the personnel efficient and nice very small television with poor reception
Best location, superb views of the bay and ocean. Excellent restaurant. Relaxed atmosphere. Staff very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended - ask for sea view room No, we had a superior double room with a balcony. Superb views and the dining experience is probably the best in town.
Excellent location, for the price I would have expected a larger room with more updated features.
The location of this hotel is ideal. There is designated space on a private beach for convenience. Close walk to eating spots and is at the entrance of the Cinque terra trail going southeast. There is a complimentary shuttle from the train station to the hotel that we didnt know about until we reached the hotel via a long uphill trail. Please advise make use of the complimentary car service so you dont have to drag your bags up the steep hill. Our stay was lovely and wished we could stay longer!!
Quiet, beautiful views of beach and shoreline, convenient for walking to Monterossa Old Town area and for hiking Cinque Terre trail to Vernazza. Felt the meal charges were somewhat high for quality.
the staff was exceptional, and the location was spectacular.
The view of the sea and Monterosso was great. Very easy to hear the people in the next room.
The location was spectacular and the hotel staff was very accomodating and helpful.
Hotel is located at excellent sea-view place. Staff have good hospitality.
We found all the staff at the hotel to be extremely courteous, helpful, and pleasant-natured; we particularly enjoyed the restaurant staff. Our room was small but comfortable and very clean. The main reason we had chosen the hotel was the promise of phenomenal views-- and we were not disappointed (we had a double room with a sea view). We had a couple of evening meals at the hotel's restaurant, and both were scrumptious. When we arrived in Monterosso by train we had to wait half an hour for our pre-booked taxi to arrive to take us to the hotel. However, that wasn't the hotel's fault. We would have appreciated coffee/tea making facilities in our room. A better functioning hair dryer would be good. But these are all minor points. Overall we were thrilled with our stay at this hotel.
Service outstanding, views incredible, access to the Cinque Terra park was perfect!
We loved our stay, the staff was super nice and friendly. Great location! We would love to go back one day.
The hotel was fantastic - our room was clean and air-conditioned, staff was very nice and accommodating and breakfast was awesome! The hotel is in the city center, but is a bit hard to find. Other than that no problems whatsoever
The room was spacious and clean, the breakfast spread was tasty, and the location was wonderful. I would highly recommend staying here!
On a 3 week November trip through Italy we were delighted with this Cinque Terra hotel and surprised to find a huge patio right off our room providing a 180 degreee panorama of the sea. Our hosts Monica and Roberta were warm and welcoming and both went out of their way to make our stay pleasant, including driving us uphill from the nearby Riomaggiore train station since we had missed the daily 6:30pm bus and had no car. Internet connection was not available in the room, but we had fine connection in the dining room whenever needed.
The hotel staff were awesome, the view was incredible and the restaurant was very good!
Staff was helpfull..room are not very modern but very clean and not small.it has a big balcony with a great view. staff is helpfull but cannot speak good english.
Modern, clean and tidy. The village of Monterosso ala Mare is also great and makes a fantastic base for exploring the Cinque Terre. The hotel/guest house is nice and contempary however the steep path and steps to hotel would make it unsuitable to anyone with limited mobility. The rooms were also smaller than I would have liked. The above are minor criticisms though and overall it is a nice place to stay.
The peace and quiet. The view of the village. Staff and especially the owner were very friendly.
Friendliness, helpfulness and hospitality of staff, Stunning view of lemon grove and the sea from breakfast terrace Unaware of steep climb on a rocky path to get there with heavy luggage
The warm hospitality of the hosts was extremely memorable. They provided wonderful dinner recommendations and assisted with train timetables etc. The rooms were lovely and modern and very clean. Future guests should be aware that there is a steep series of steps to reach the hotel, however the climb is well worth the effort.
I liked the setting, the view, the modern decor, the lovely breakfast on the terrace, and the very friendly and hospitable staff.
friendly service but nothing over the top, great stay tucked into manarola
The hotel room was excellent, clean, and comfortable. It appeared to be newly renovated, and was perfect. The staff and owner were very pleasant and accommodating. N/A
The hotel is new, clean, and was relatively inexpensive. It's nothing fancy, but certainly very nice. Manarola was definitely worth staying in. No
The hotel staff was extremely helpful and nice. The breakfast was incredible with many homemade, delicious dishes. The location was great for hiking the Cinque Terre and the free taxi service into Monterosso was a wonderful perk. We had a few heavy bags and they had to be carried up the many steps. However, the Signora actually helped us carry them......amazing!
Super breakfast. Terrific view. Great staff A bit far from town, but free taxi service is provided.
The owners were great and so was the breakfast! They were very helpful all during our stay.
The hotel is charming, beautifully decorated, and the rooms have a terrific view of the ocean. The bathroom was modern and the bed was firm but not hard. The terrace off our room was perfect for having a glass of wine while enjoying the view. The breakfast is absolutely awesome!! A free taxi service was available to take us to town/pick us up and we never had to wait more than a few minutes. (You could also walk but it's steep.) The staff was very helpful and friendly, and spoke English. If we have the opportunity to visit Cinque Terre again we'll definitely stay at La Serra Sul Mare!
From the moment you call at the gate your are treated as a special guest. The view of the mediterrean is spectacular, rooms are beautifully appointed and the breakfast remarkable.
La Serra Sul Mare is a great B&B just outside of Monterossa... the owner and her daughter have decorated beautifully, cook a great breakfast, and greet you in your room with coffee, tea, and small pastries. What a treat. Don't let the fact that it is just outside of town be a drawback.. the walk to town is short, and if you don't wish to walk, they provide complimentary taxi service. Stay here, you won't be disappointed.
