In central position near beach and centre
de parking aan het hotel is een pluspunt, idem voor het parkeren van de fietsen. ook de mogelijkheid om je hond mee te brengen vind ik fijn.
Proximity to the beach, location is ok. Friendly staff, available to help. Rooms are ok, fair value for money.
Excellent location near the venue of an event I attended. Spacious rooms. Professional staff. Only 2 tv channels available
Well positioned close to all the restaurants, promenade and casino. Hotel restaurant was good. No air conditioning. No tea and coffee making facility. Expensive for room with no sea view. Noisy at night.
room with satisfactory space; quiet (back); very efficient cleaning personnel who additionnally were multilingual and very nice ! New linen every day without asking it.Reception personnel, though not proactively "kind", was very helpful once you ask for something ...which is better than being kind without efficiency breakfast price/quality relation ist overdone, one can have perfect breakfast for half the price nearby. Parking fees are the same as official parking, and might be somewhat lower for guests who stay there for a number of nights (degressive tariff). Parking entrance very narrow for middle size cars already.
Excellent hotel, right by the beach, near to the casino. Would definitely recommend it to anybody thinking of having a short break or stop over in Ostend.
The location of the hotel is ideal - in the middle of the city centre and a few steps away from the coast. For a four star hotel, you would expect airconditioning in the room. A toilet brush would also be appreciated.
great breakfast, friendly staff, good bed & pillows bathroom a bit aged
the room was cheap
Location, comfort of room. Room was quite small. Hotel parking expensive, street parking limited.
All the staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The food was excellent with a wide choice of breakfast and evening meal buffet. The room was very comfortable and well maintained and the interconnecting doors for families was a real bonus. . The hotel is in a good location for local amenities and access to nearby secure local parking was really useful. We will definitely return here.
The low price, also the room was quiet at night The part of the hotel we were in was very cramped - room, corridors, staircases and lift. Breakfast was extensive but the hot buffet was warm at best.
we just liked the room...and the area. Breakfast was good. First we received a room which was not ready (10pm!!!)...we had requested a big bed room and we received a twin bed room. the personel of the hotel was not very kind!!
The location was ideal for the centre.Hotel had secure car park.Breakfast very good .A nice relaxing bar and lounge.Easy checking in /out .Staff very helpfull and friendly
very comprehensive selection at breakfast.first class.
I liked that the hotel was very central with plenty of parking
I went on a short break with my wife and have stayed at this hotel before. We found the staff very friendly and the public areas of the hotel are were kept clean although the furniture at the front is a little worn. We enjoy a drink at the bar after having eaten out at one of the many local restaurants and the staff behind the bar are sociable and enjoy a conversation. The breakfast was enjoyable and there was a reasonable choice. Nice freshly ground coffee which I enjoy. The situation of the hotel is very good, just a short walk from many restaurants and bars as well as the shopping centre. The only downside was our room no 223 was looking as if it could do with a good makeover. The tea tray was brken in several places around the edge and needed throwing out and the wallpaper was dirty and coming loose at the joins. Despite this the bed was very comfortable and the room was cleaned daily to a good stndard and the cleaning staff were very pleasant.
we had a family room which was very comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was good and with lots of choice. We found it a little too far from the central squares. If you hadnt managed to reserve a space outside the hotel the parking was difficult at times.
Breakfast was good. We arrived by 5p.m. and were told that we were too late to book in for dinner that night! with the number of guests in the hotel, I did not think that a small variation should have caused the kitchen too much problem with over 2 hours to prepare for this!. This soured our opinion and stay in the hotel.
We really liked the pool, sauna etc. It was small but very convenient. A big plus for us. Reason to stay at the hotel. we didn't know you had to make a reservation for dinner beforehand but got good directions to a perfect restaurant in town.
The location was excellent. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. The early check-out time of 10am - it was a struggle to get teenagers up and fed and ready to leave by 10am.
The Hotel it's very good. None.
i didn't receive dinner on one evening because you have to reserve in advance. I was never informed to do so. According to the personel it was impossible to add one person. Barservice was not good. They didn't walked the room, you had to order at the bar itself, not a problem, only when they are at the back, don't come at the bar and block the little bell with a paper, you get thirsty.
Breakfast was very good Staff were not very service minded Location was quite a long walk into the centre Swimming pool was very small
Clean, good service, nice swimming pool for kids
There are a lot of good points: the location (very near the tram station), the room (spacious and comfortable, including the bathroom), the buffet breakfast(good variation and tasty) etc... One and only: there was no tea pot in the room, which was a bad surprise to us, Japanese. Almost all the hotels and lodges in Japan, the USA, Canada, New Zealand and so on have one for guests to use. We took some Japanese tea packs with us, which was just a mockery.
Location from ferrie terminal at Ostende and Dunkerke The room very poor lamps dont work hairdriyer dont work low budget room
The five star welcome, the cleanliness of all areas, good breakfast and staff that care , have stopped at many hotels world wide, this is one of the best, exceeds many of a higher price and star rating Nothing at all was wrong with this hotel or its staff
owners of the hotel was very friendly, breakfast was excellent good chose of food. Hotel was very clean, also the rooms as well. To have tea and coffee in the rooms would have been better.
Convenient location, friendly owner and staff, good size room and spotlessly clean, excellent buffet breakfast. Minimalist decor not to our taste.
THe hotel was excellent. Staff were extremely helpful and even though the restaurant bwas closed that night recommended a very good alternative a short walk away. The rooms were exactly as depicted on their web site, clean comfortable and a lovely colour scheme. . The usual British comment regarding pillows but we had taken our own so we were OK.
The food was very good and the hotel was clean.
the cleanliness of the room, the superb breakfast, the nice bathroom, the parking possibilities. I didn't use the sauna so I can't say anything about it. There was no shampoo in the bathroom and I didn't like the look of the parking space.
The owners are very friendly and helpful. The room looks new, it is spotless. The breakfast is excellent. The bar is small but lovely and it serves good cappuccino at reasonable price. Close to Plopsaland, we bought the tickets at the hotel for Euro 24 (Euro 27 at Plopsaland itself). We got a room at the side that does not face the tram rail so we were not bothered by the noise. The room, though the booking.com describes the room to be 'spacious', is not big and it does not have a bath tub. The owners explained to us that they do have larger rooms with bath tub but only offer the small type (the so called 'A' room type) via booking.com for the sake of simplicity. Note that this 'A' 'B' and 'B+' room type is not the same as single/double room.
Very friendly hotel, excellent facilities, good value. The hotel owner is involved in the hotel day to day and they are constantly investing in the property. The bar area was very comfortable and inviting, I thought it had been recently refurbished but it was done 3 or 4 years ago, it looked like new so they really look after the place. Breakfast was good with a nice selection of hot and cold food. car parking at the back of the hotel was reassuring although you could park free at the front if you wished.
Visited friends, enjoyed a meal and went shopping and sightseeing
What I liked is that the hotel is close to the beach and walking promenade and has a parking for the car. I didn't line the fact that we didn't had a bath and apparantly only two rooms in the hotel have.
Clean, comfortable and quiet Lack of tea and coffee making facilities and the restaurant closing at 8pm
Friendly staff. Good location. Lots of restaurants and bars nearby.
quiet, sober room, clean
Walked around De Panne and along the seafront. Had a drink and a meal. We were only there for one night so no opportunity for anything more adventurous
location and food
Nothing Room was not clean, bed extremely narrow, pillows lumpy, towels hard and dirty, compared to other hotels too expensive
Friendly, helpful staff. Nice size, comfortable room which was very clean. Restaurant and bar prices were reasonable.
the comfort and cleanliness of the room
The quality and decor of the bedroom
Clean, comfortable and welcoming. Situated very close to the beach and is surrounded by restaurants and bars giving you a massive choice of food. Hotel has an excellent high quality menu of its own. Only 'failure' was not supplying sufficient towels for the number of guests in the room and failed to do so even when asked to provide them.
My wife and I stayed in the Hotel Maxim in De Panne for our last two nights following a tour of France and found the hotel and resort perfect. Parking is offered at the hotel but pstreet parking in the town is free and in mid June there was plenty of spaces. Nothing to dislike about the Maxim and staff
Helpful and polite staff
Breakfast The hotel needs renovation
celtral location lack of car parking
Proximity to the beach and public transport facilities They argue the hotel has been renovated. This only applies to the room to have breakfast/lunch/dinner in. Carpets (especially the one of the stairs) and rooms are old and the mattress of my bed had a "V" shape making sleeping very uncomfortable.
Convenient for the shops and beach, easy access, friendly staff, comfortable room No tea or coffee making facilities in room
breakfast was good and staff very pleasant room was smaller than expected and bed was very hard
it was fine but a bit too expensive. Room quality wasn't in line with the three stars value for the hotel, things were very old and staled (i.e. TV, lift) very narrow corridor and room.
The hotel was very nice, staff were very friendly. Our room was a bit basic but clean
Hotel Maxim, Cajou, Europa, are operated by the same owner, as I understood, I booked for Hotel Maxim, but it closes for the winter season. so I was told to stay in its sister hotel, Cajou, on my way to the town. I was not very happy about that initially, but offset soon after I arrived. The staff is friendly, room is neat and comfort. later on, I found laundry services are free, close to tens of good restaurants, I spent a week there, so tried 10+ different restaurants, all are great, and even better than Brussels / Brugges' ones. Anyway, very good experience. The Breakfast is a little bit toooo simple, also probably due to the low season.
Good access to town centre and the excellent all round attitude of the cleaning lady, she is a credit to your organisation. The restaraunt staff and reception staff were also helpful. As a disabled person, my wife and I were left to struggle with our cases and equipment on arrival. We were not made aware there was a trolley available.
Good value for money
Very friendly and helpful manageress who ensured we felt most welcome. Hotel very central - 2 mins to great beach. De Panne is a delightful resort and Belgian coast is brilliant. Lively town without yobs! Safe cycling (very flat) and inexpensive tram that runs all the way up the coast as far as Holland. Less than half an hour's drive from Calais Eurotunnel. Try it! No onsite parking but local parking available. No tea-making or hair-dryer in room, but not unusual on continent.
The staff at the hotel were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble and they did everything that they could to make sure my stay was a good one. The restaraunt was not open for evening meals, so I had to walk into town. There was no dedicated Hotel parking and so it was a long walk from the car to the Hotel.
The staff did everything possible to ensure a comfortable stay
Our greeting and service overall were excellent Our room was immaculate and the bathroom was very modern and spacious The hotel is located very close to the beach, shops and a wide range of restaurants The tram stop is only 100 metres away giving easy access to other towns along the coast Our room was a little smaller than we had expected Car parking was a problem sometimes due to daytime restrictions for on-street parking
It is a charming hotel run by its owners who do their best to offer to their clients an excellent and absolutely charming and caring service. The Gastronomy of the Restaurant is wonderful, and the lady of the house behaves like a real fairy princess to all her clients, especially the young ones, making their wishes come true. Terence really enjoyed preparing with her his favourite icecream cornets for his special dessert. It is also a hotel that is open to clients that use booking.com to make their hotel reservations.
One couple given good size room, one given small size room.
Once sorted out, the service was good. Directions to covered carpark (fee payable0 could have been made easier with a small diagram and avoided driving around to find location. Breakfast was good and served on time. No heat in room - and the night was cold! No adjoining parking space and difficult to park to check-in. No covered parking - overcome by an arrangement between the hotel and private garageat a fee.
The hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. The location is excellent.
`breakfasta warm welcome, clean and comfortable bedroom plus exerlent
the breakfast was excellent. the kids enjoyed the triple room.being in the centre of town near the beach (150m) and plopsaland who no english person has ever heard of closeby being issued a parking ticket in the car park opposite whilst booking in and getting some change.
friendly owner and v.good value no tea or coffee making facilities in room
Nice family atmosphere
VERY(!) friendly staff, good breakfast.
The hotel is situated in the heart of the town, and is great fo discovering the area! Rooms are a bit basic
Friendly owner. Recently refurbished. Clean & tidy. Would have been nice if the bar / cafe at the front of the hotel stayed open later. In their defense, there are so many eating & drinking places nearby this wasn't a problem.
Central location, nice people Quad room very small & basic
The family room comfortably fitted our family of 5. The children loved the double bed bunk beds! The room was bright, warm and clean. The staff were friendly and the dining area had a childrens corner with plenty of toys. It was situated close to the shops and restaurants and an easy walk to the beach.
Central location, clean , simple room Very noisy all Friday night overlooking square
The back door of the room opens onto a veranda / balcony directly adjacent to the beach, affording excellent beach views, sunsets, and the sound of the ocean lapping at the beach filling your room all night long if you leave the doors open. A bit on the pricey side given that it's a very nice but definitely aging hotel. That said, the location and see view rooms with balcony are worth the extra cost.
The location of the hotel is great and the terrace on the the palace room was spectacular For a room marketed as a palace room, the amenities were under par. No slippers, no bathrobe, cheap towels and toiletries do not belong in a palace. the room itself was excellent however.
The Hotel is clean, comfortable and the staff are helpful, the hotel is located almost on the beach and in close proximity to beach front restaurants. There is a tram stop outside the hotel, although a relatively modest walk will take you into the town.
Location to the amenities of the city as well as our own leisure activities No tea or coffee facilities in the room. his would have put my comfort score upto good from fair.
Excellent location. Beautiful view of beach, sea and Albert promenand. Room and bathroom are very big, with a beautiful seaview. It was also very calm in the room. There was very poor breakfast. No fish, no vegetable, a little fruits. And no tea and coffee facility in room. Rooms are out of fix.
large rooms, the rooms and hotel still have their beautiful original style but comfort is there. Beautiful view on the sea from the room and from the breakfast room. noise from room nextdoors.
Location Needs refurbishing badly.
Very good location and beautiful viw of sea/beach Room decor was very dark and dull
sea view hotel staff
You step out of the door, straight on to the beach. Impressive architecture, unpretentious, upmarket style and luxury. Staff were helpful. Nothing, strongly recommended.
A quiet hotel with a very nice view on the north sea. Breakfast was excellent! It's a shame there's no Spa because this hotel has a perfect location for it. I called the reception from my room but they did not pick-up, not even a voice to tell you hold-on the line etc. The same number is the emergency number...strange!
Excellent location within walking distance of seafront, shops and cafes. Very friendly atmosphere with basic but well appointed rooms. Liked the restaurant/cafe opening onto market square. Very good breakfast. Would have preferred earlier breakfast time. Can feel cold as no floor covering.
Recently refurbished hotel, clean and comfortable No staff! Key left for us and didn't see any staff until next morning at breakfast so couldn't get a code for free Internet or ask questions. Hate to think what would have happened in an emergency - not good!
The room was small but very nice, the bathroom was super, and the staff very helpfull The bathroom had a bad smell.
Nothing at all very disappointed with staff and room No double bed ....room was twin beds although it stated double.. staff rude and refused refund only found out it twin bed after we paid ...
Very comfortable, welcoming staff and combining "rustic" with modern taste. State of the art electrics in room. Hotel still having a final coat of paint.
The rooms, although compact, were very nicely presented and spotlessly clean. The cafe/bar downstairs was pleasant in the evening and for breakfast (which was very good). The staff were friendly and efficient.
Very nice hotel, clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, although as I was catching a ferry, it started at 8:30 which was then a bit of a rush.
Very good out of season location. Out of season as it is directly on the market square so could be noisy in season. Very comfortable, up to date design, and the bathroom very good for anyone with physical disabilites.
staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast could have been more choice, ie cooked bacon, beans etc. cost of hotel parking
the staff were friendly and helpful at all times I felt to be made at home during my stay here the facilities were clean and up to date my room was kept clean throughout my stay I was not happy that the sauna and steam bath were advertised as part of the hotel facilities not listed as chargeable.....eight euros per person per hour....not proper...not fair!
Friendly helpful staff, good breakfast menu, bar open 24 hours We wanted to use the sauna and steam room, the information in the hotel room did not say that you needed to reserve it in advance in order for it to heat up, so we were unable to use it when we wanted to
Good, flexible staff. Cooperative with changes in booking breakfast relative simple, however sufficient
a clean and pleasant hotel with a good bar
The location is nice. The second day no additional toilet paper was given . We ran out.
Location to the Town, Cleanliness, Selection of Breakfast Items. Nothing to Comment.
breakfast and the swimming pool No, but a couple of details would have made it even better
clean hotel top to bottom + very good staff no air conditioning charge for use of room safe
Near the beach The room we had was at the ground floor. This was small and sub-standard. Ventilation was poor and we had to open the window. Sleeping with windows open was terrible due to the 24h Cafe at the opposite road. Maybe rooms on other floors were better.
Very new, comfortable, stylish.
simple but good breakfast; staff is very kind; hotel just opened this spring (2009). no railing on bunk beds so kids couldn't use it (high risk of falling off). Prices are hefty.
underground carpark with lift to room No air-conditioning so room very hot, no hotel information in room, e.g Room Service, Wellness Spa still under costruction. Hotel looks good but seems to have run out of money to provide 4 star standard
very relaxing and nearby beach and resturants and a very well designed and stylish hotel,we love belgium its so so clean! the only thing i thought was bad - when we arrived, the lady on reception showed us the way to underground parking, and then when i was looking through the hotel booklet read that you would be charged - it was not a problem but we felt we and others should be told!
Rooms were comfortable and bathrooms luxurious with rainforest showers. Good tv choice for kids. Bunk beds dangerous as 6ft off the ground and no safety rail so no good for young children. Excellent buffet breakfast but felt 200 euros was a bit steep for one night, 4 people in a family room.
sea view rooms, clean and spacious (we took confort room). Definitely good quality stay on the sea side. Excellent location, 1 minute away from everything.
Large comfortable rooms (we had a room with two private bedrooms - excellent when travelling with teens). Beds were very comfortable. Location was outstanding, about 200 m to the beach, shopping and many restaurants surrounding the hotel. Worth paying for the parking as it is difficult to get space in the area in general. Breakfast was good but a little expensive - could have had slightly longer hours as it ended at 1000. Will be great when the pool is open on the days the weather doesn't allow for the beach.
Excellent service and a wonderful room - absloutely brilliant buffet breakfast
Brand new hotel, modern design. Inside parking facilitiy. Wheele chair adapted. Breakfast: choice good be better. No staff on first day.
