In the middle of all things the Avis guy was polite and empathetic, at the end of the day it wasn't his faultCons:
We made the reservation thru kayak, however when we got to the avis office they told us that there were no cars available and that they didn't understand why they had let us reserve the cars. It was a major disappointment.2.0 Poor

Service was horrible. I asked reserved a full size car. I was offered a choice of a commercial size van that had been side swiped and was damaged along the entire length of the vehicle or a Tahoe instead. He told me he was upgrading me at no cost and I was getting a deal. I told him I would not be able to park either vehicle. He didn’t bother getting out of his chair the entire time. The vehicles looked like rent a wrecks. Never again.2.0 Poor

The car we received was dirty and after half a day the engine broke down, we had to arrive to the airport to change it and we received the worst service from the avis representative.10.0 Wonderful

No hassle no problem smooth transition returning vehicle . The car I was given was new and clean , driving it felt like putting on fresh clean clothes. Overall excellent experience.4.4 Mediocre

I made a reservation for LAX, not Los Ángeles in general. If I put LAX, only the LAX station should show up. I made a reservation thinking that that’s the location my car was at. I got the place only to learn that my reservation was at another Avis that was 45 minutes away. Price wasn’t matched even though both stations are in the same city. I paid more than double what my reservation said it’d be. The guy that helped me was clueless as to how to do his job and needed assistance from 3 different employees. He couldn’t even spell my name. Everyone else was helped adequately and left happy. I left never wanting to come back. Luckily the staff at the SMX station is better trained and frindlier.Budget

Waiting in LA They took my info...offered an upgrade to SUV at no cost--which turned out to be a hatchback car basically. No big deal but the lady made me wait 15 min while others got cars? Then I go back to the window and she starts doing the contract and asks about insurance. I ask what that would do to the final rate and THEN she tells me I'm at the wrong location?? How did she take all my info, upgrade me, make me wait, go through the contract, and THEN just figure this out? At any rate, she moved the res to her location and lowered the rate to what I reserved but it was an extra hassle after a 6 hour flight that I didn't really need or understand. File it under 1st world problems.2.0 Poor

Nothing I rented a car out of LAX but was given a reservation at a budget in the city. Therefore the rate was double what I was confirmed for. If you put in an airport in your search bar you should only be given airport reservations.Cons:
