Location was great. Close to the Bart and shopping. It was nice to be able to have breakfast before heading out. Service was great. The weather left a lot to be desired. It's close to the water and it was cold, windy and gloomy in the morning. My fault for not packing properly.
Wasn't expecting the place to be as good as it turned out to be, rooms were spacious and clean with my only complaints being the hallways swelling like cigarettes and the staff could be more friendly. Beside that it's a great hotel for its price. Hallways strongly smell like cigarettes
Very neat, friendly, continental breakfast was good. German roaches on the third night, pillow had no support.
They need to complete their remodeling of this hotel. Pictures were accurate of the rooms, but the interior of the hotel is dirty and in need of a refresh.
Hotel was full so very limited parking
The room was big. Safety issues, the room smelled like urine.
A guest can walk to one of two BART stations, shopping, car rental, and several good restaurants. For the price I feel it is worth roughing it a bit. It's like getting an economy seat on a flight rather than first class. The building is old and needs an make-over. It was probably built in the 1950's. However, the shower had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. The room had cable with a variety of music stations. I just needed a place to sleep-not to entertain.
Smooth check in with friendly staff. The room was comfortable for my needs.
We did not stay it looked auful and was in a horrible part of town we tried to cancel they said we had to go on line to cancel and that did not work We were so disapointed that you would advertise thatt motel I hope we are not charged because we will There was garbage scattered around the doors it was dirty and looked run down and we saw what looked like gang members hanging around 2 rooms.
It was cheap and an entertaining place to be. Very multicultural and colorful. They shut the water off twice. The TV conked out the day I left. There was paint peeling and stains on the walls. The fridge and microwave were in the closet. The room key was a literal key, like it's 1954 or something.
Nothing Thin walls so I was listening to the party 'next door' past 11PM. No hangers in room. No iron/ironing board available AT ALL!!! Smoke detector was missing cover. Desk chair had stains on seat. There weren't enough outlets to allow both table lamps on.
Price. The room smelled bad chest of drawers was broken overall the room felt unclean and unsafe.
The look of the hotel The check in staff
Our oasis on the hill! The Claremont is a special place and I return there whenever I can; the location is central yet private and the staff is friendly, attentive, helpful and genuine. Each staff member, from the housekeeping staff to the manager, smiles and greets guests and is not only ready, but willing, to make your stay enjoyable. When there was an issue at check-in with the room assigned. Frank Flynn quickly and apologetically gave us another room with no question. In chatting with Fracesco (I'm sure I have not spelled his name correctly-my apologies!) in the lobby, we told him we were headed into the city the next day; he not only cautioned us about traffic and crowds in the Golden Gate Park area due to a concert, he recommended alternative areas to visit-and when he saw us a couple of days later, he asked how our trip went! A special shout-out also to Mohammad and Zachary who took care of us for breakfast in the Meritage restaurant-their service standards and guest treatment should be the envy of fine dining establishments everywhere. They made the start of our days happy and pleasant and really made an impact of the pleasure of staying at the Claremont! The charm of an old beauty like the Claremont is also sometimes what makes you miss some things you might find in a newer hotel; the HVAC system can be unreliable and loud, the bathroom does not have an exhaust fan, etc. But having noted that, the graciousness of the wide hallways and high ceilings easily make you overlook those modern facility differences!
Staff was very good. Room service excellent and the pools were great. I asked for a taxi to take me to SFO. Instead of a taxi, they had reserved a sedan which was more expensive than a taxi. I thought it was a little bit cheesy. I'm sure that some people want to drive to the airport in a fancier car but they should specify. I asked for a taxi, not a town car.
Wonderful location. Grand old building which has been well maintained. It had been some years since I last stayed there and the place seemed in better shape than it was.
The Sunday buffet at the Meritage was very good. The lap swimming in the pools and 3 free hours of childcare included in the resort fee was also very nice and an unexpected bonus. Ridiculously overpriced for what it was. $26 resort fee and $30 valet fee on top of over $200/night for a tiny old room that wouldn't even pass muster at a Best Western? The room was awful - outdated, small, old, musty and generally uncomfortable. Noisy from the hallway, the bed was saggy, the comforter stained and 2 adults plus a baby in a crib were way too many to fit in a tiny standard room.
Location - close to everything including freeways. Facilities were excellent -- pool, exercise room, etc. They treated me like a second class citizen because I booked not directly through them. Promised me a fridge and I had to find a facilities guy who didn't talk to the front desk to get one. Told me there was a free breakfast buffet, but then it wasn't free.
Loved the look of the place from the outside..altho you quickly feel like an inconvenience being shuffled out of the way. The hotel is rich with history and has very nice decor..the room was big, with a big bathroom. The trexk to the room was ridiculous, having to take two elevators and very long walks on different levels while carrying your things. The room floor needed vacuumed, you could feel stuff on the carpet. After we checked in, we left to go get dinner and you can't get out of the gate without a special card given at the front desk. Well guess what- oh, and it cost $30 for this parking privilege.
Stay was great wished new more about it before we got there to enjoy the facilities Food prices were a little high
Nice pool, spa and exercise facilities. My kids had a blast at the pool - it was nicely heated and they enjoyed it despite the cooler February weather. Our room was below one of the hotel's restaurants. 6am on a sunday morning and isn't a great time to be woken up to the sounds of tables and chairs being moved. It's an old hotel so it's pretty loud. When I checked out they gave me a bit of a discount and said that when we checked in that the front desk should have warned us that our room was loud... they really just shouldn't rent out the rooms or if they do charge less.... but they'd rather put guests in a position where they have to complain to get a discount. Even with the discount if was an expensive weekend that wasn't as restful as you'd expect for the money.
I like how this establishment did not honor my booking they gave me a ridiculous excuse and shoved me out the door Fred the supposed manager was very unprofessional he tried to justify his BS by giving me two cookies which I almost threw at his face
Had an excellent time. Would definitely go back.
Nothing Dirty, smelly, and very noisy. We did not have a good experience staying here at all.
Excellent family pool and hot tub, comfortable beds, easy access to a walking path on the waterfront, exceptionally friendly staff There is no complimentary breakfast, not even a box of corn flakes and coffee. Breakfast buffet was very expensive, so we drove out to a grocery store for food. For the in room coffee maker three guests received three packets of coffee and 2 creams!
Beautiful location on Marina. Staff is friendly. Infrastructure is old. Wireless is spotty.
I booked and paid for a king balcony room and I didn't get that The hotel claimed that Kayak was responsible for the booking hence they couldn't accommodate my request for a king bed since they didn't have any available. I couldn't cancel the reservation neither so I feel I was robbed. I've use this site multiple times but I'm never using it again. I was robbed since the quality didn't compare to what I paid.
- staff is terrible. The staff said that the reservation with 3rd party cannot received Hilton HHonor benefit. very Sucks - Room Service is terrible as well. Try to connect a lot of time, no answer.
Location The didn't honor the price I had on my conformation and charged me more. They claim to only get the reservation from Booking.Com and no prices.
The location was beautiful Restaurant and bar staff were extremely rude. Warning if waiter offers coffe and orange juice to be filled in the cups on the tables it's $5 each glass. our bed sheets were dirty and had black crumbs inside when opened it. There were also hookers roaming around at night.
They had my reservation listed as 2 double beds, when I in fact reserved and paid extra for the king deluxe room with a balcony. The receptionist acted as if I did not have a king reserved, until I physically showed her my reservation on my phone. At that point she then took responsibility for putting us in a king room like we reserved and paid for. Ridiculous.
Upon first entrance, the rooms were very clean...although the hotel, windows and doors were disgustingly dirty. Staff at check in were amazing. Bed was super uncomfortable...pillows were flat and lumpy. The walls were super thin, so you could hear everything. Terrible.
Price was solid, room was clean, parking was free. Could hear everything going on around my room, woke up multiple times by random folks around my room. The hotel is fairly dated. The bed was not comfortable and nor were the pillows.
Location is easy Mattress was terrible woke up several times and eventually had a bad back in the morning. The room looks like the cheapest remodeling from the 80's.
Room is spacious with view and amenity look friendly. Internet connection is slow. Car parking is expensive.
We booked through this site New Years Eve evening. Most hotels were full or costly. But we found this great deal at a great price. It over look the San Francisco bay, where we watched the fireworks at midnight. The night manager was very accommodating to our needs, especially with parking. To find a reasonable price room at a good hotel like the Hilton, I will recommend to everyone to use this site.
The hotel was very modern and clean which is a big plus for me, especially with children. I loved that it was so close to the Bay bridge and minutes away from SF. Staff was friendly and the overall location was nice and close to the water. n/a
Easy highway access and good response to requests. We had booked three rooms for a family business trip. One room had a cracked sink, two rooms had ill fitting front doors which let so much light under the door as a light was left on. One room had drapery that had holes in it.
The location was excellent for what we wanted to do. We were greeted warmly by the front desk. Our room was comfortable. Though we only stayed for one day, we were glad to have chosen this hotel. The water temp for the shower took awhile to get warm. Also, the tub water didn't drain properly.
I had a room I requested an early check-in by e-mail. I received a text saying I could check in at 2pm. Staff told me check in is at 3pm, period. Did not even check to see if rooms were available.
I like the bathrooms and set up of room The kids that were unsupervised scattered through building The noisiness The front staff
Easy highway access, decent size room and good response to problems. We didn't like being charges 15 a day for parking and that the common areas were unkept even in the early mornings, ie overflowing garbage cans, ashtrays and glasses left from the night before on the patio area.
The bilinds were not fully functional. Minor maintenance. That's all.
The View and breakfast were great Elevator was dinging all night....and yes being so close to the elevator probably didn't help, but that is something that they should be able to mute for individual floors as needed
Great room set up. Good desk and chair for a business traveler. Like the coffee in the lobby now as well. Sad you have done away with glassware in the room. I think of motels as having paper cups and nice hotels provide glasses. I enjoy a glass of wine at the end of the day and don't like it in a paper cup. You have also dropped the level of amenities provided in the bathroom.
Bar & restaurant were under renovation-- if I had known at time of booking I would have stayed somewhere else
I really liked everything about this place. My room was very stylish, and it came with all the usual amenities. The room was smaller, so I'm not sure if I would be happy there if I had to share the space with someone else. I don't know if all the rooms are that size, or if I just got a small room because I was by myself. For just me, it was the perfect size. The AC works well, which I've come to learn isn't a given at many "upscale" hotels. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is right in the center of everything in Berkeley, so there are plenty of restaurants, drugstores, cafes, etc. within walking distance. It is conveniently located next to the downtown Berkeley BART station. I didn't have a car, so I didn't need to deal with parking, but I imagine it's not easy or cheap. The restaurant has really good food. There is plenty of seating in the lobby/bar area to meet with people to discuss business or have a couple drinks. I just really liked it here. They focus so much on helping each customer as much as possible, that several of us stood waiting at the check in desk for a really long time while one obnoxious customer waxed poetic about all the things he wanted to do while he was in Berkeley. They need to be more conscious of calling for help when a line starts to form.
Clean and vast room, everything working as it should.
Conveniently located in downtown Berkeley, across the street from the BART station and a couple blocks from the Cal campus. Some nice restaurants and bars nearby. Very nice accommodations and this was the quietest hotel I've ever stayed in. I never heard a single sound outside of my room. Rooms are a bit small but still very nice and comfortable.
Since my son started attending Berkeley two years ago, I only stay at the Hotel Shattuck when visiting him. Thus far, I've stayed at there six times. I have NEVER been disappointed in the accommodations. Admittedly, some reviewers complain about the price. But, hey, considering the location, accommodations, staff, and amenities, I'm not going to complain.
Rooms were fine. Hotel was clean. Reception and bar service awful. Card keys did not work. A/C stopped working. Small, crowded lobby. Shattuck area is not inviting.
Every staff member I encountered was smiling and went out of their way to say hello, open doors, offer to help, etc. Very impressive!
I've stayed here several times over the last few years; I had a flawless, enjoyable experience each time. This last trip they even held some rather bulky packages / equipment which had arrived a week early for work, without question. The staff is always friendly, rooms are immaculately clean, and the location (right across Allston from the Downtown Berkeley BART, a block off Berkeley's campus, and close to several good dining experiences) is excellent.
Location. Front desk service was horrible. Room Service was worst. Terrible food. Had a hair in it. Oatmeal was lumpy Service was way off.
Like staying in an old Victorian home. Surrounded by tended gardens , with a courtyard and airy breakfast room. My room had an old-fashioned appearance and a gas fireplace. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. location is great, a short walk from UC Berkeley. Parking was a bit tight. My bathroom could have used an upgrade, but worked well.
Staff was friendly and helpful during check in. Breakfast was great! Choose this option if you can. Freshly cooked sausage, bacon, and eggs among many other items. They also offered fresh baked cookies midday. Location was close to Oakland where we spent most of our time. Rooms were well kept. Wi-fi was good. Room service was delicious, but pricy (through an outside vendor). A bit confusing to figure out where the main office/concierge was from the parking lot because the inn has many small buildings. I picked the wrong building at first. An arrow sign pointing to the concierge would have been nice. No AC, but there was an operational ceiling fan and open window are enough to cool the room. 2 small parking lots on either side of the property. Thankfully, we always found a spot.
The staff is friendly, welcoming, laid back, and very gracious. Our room (the Honeymoon Suite, I believe) was enormous and had some charm. It's great to be walking distance from campus, and to have offstreet parking (although we had to use street parking overnight 2 of our 4 nights at the Rose Garden Inn). Breakfast is very good -- although there's no change day-to-day, so it gets a little boring if you're staying multiple days. The Rose Garden Inn is quirky & seems a little bit down on its heels. There was dust under the sink (which is in the room, not in the bathroom -- not even close to it) and there are places in & around the tub where the plaster suggests water leaks. Worse yet, untold thousands of gallons of water are wasted because the faucet & shower aren't water-conserving and the water just gushes out. And the difficulty sending a fax proved to be a problem for me. Our 3rd floor room was lovely, but too hot to spend much time in the bedroom during the day and early evening. The ceilings are high, so it would have been a challenge for some guests to negotiate the multiple flights of stairs to the third floor. The staff is lovely -- but, that said, the fax I sent myself (twice) finally arrived 2 days after I'd sent it; this should be an easy fix, but I'm not certain it will be. I'd stay here again, but it wouldn't necessarily be my first choice.
I really loved the place. It's quaint and gorgeous and a very serene setting. I was doing business at UC Berkeley and was able to walk from to the university. It is not as sterile as other hotels and has a lot of character. The rooms are a little small but were fine for what I was looking for. The price was right and it is overall a very pleasant place to stay. If I ever venture back into Berkeley I already know where I'm staying. I didn't have a microwave or refrigerator in my room but I had access to a microwave in the lobby and was able to keep my beer cold with ice.
A call from the front desk ten minutes before check-out to remind me when checkout was.
The Rose Garden Inn is exactly as advertised on its website: it is a peaceful, quaint "village" style hotel -- a nice place to come home to. It is protected by a security fence and has off-street, complementary (not protected) parking. The staff is super friendly. Our room had a king-size bed and a king-size sofa bed. The furniture is not new, and there was a clothes-iron burn on the carpet -- it was like coming home! You can hear the people in the room above the same way you can hear them when you are home, but we stayed in an expensive hotel in San Francisco last night, and people were yelling in the hallway in the middle of the night -- really, you depend on people to be polite. And you have to relax about it. Coffee in the room, microwave, box fan, luggage rack, fridge, and a gas FIREPLACE! The room was not bright like a Hampton Inn or a Holiday Inn, but it was cozy, low price, spacious, and clean. I come to town frequently to visit my Mom, and I'll be staying here again.
A great introduction to the Berkeley scene for my grandson from the East Coast to check out my Alma Mater. An unexpected upgrade to the suite on the top floor added a special sparkle to the occasion. Walking distance to the campus was a great convenience, and several choices of nearby unusual restaurants made us wish we could have stayed longer. The layout of the breakfast area was a bit confusing; it took a while to figure out what was available and we came at a rather popular and congested time.
The room was large and had a window seat and a fireplace. the breakfast was great--real scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, sausage and fried potatoes as well as fresh pinapple and all the other usual ammenities. It was a perfect location for visiting my son's family in Rockridge--and easy drive. There weren't enough parking places. The sink was so small with no counter space (though they did provide a little cabinet over the toilet. the double bed was comfortable for one but when my husband arrived we sank in the middle. It would have been nice to have a place to plug in cell phones, etc. on both sides of the bed. A person we know who stayed there complained about having a very small room but we were in the main house and didn't have that problem.
exterior stairs are uneven
Super relaxed in the middle of city chaos....thank you
Great location! Easy free parking. Staff was nice. It should be half the price for what you get. There was water leaking from the ceiling. The carpet is gross. Terrible smells. There was a man in the parking lot who appeared to be selling drugs, as evidenced by the stream of visitors he received over night. There is no fridge or microwave as advertised (none available when requested). Only one working elevator.
Spider crawled down from the ceiling whiel working on own laptop. Ice machine did not work on the floor.
great staff every one was so helpful and friendly
Location - close to Berkeley 1. Heater didn't work. Got cold in the night. 2. It's a ghetto run-down building, branded as a Sheraton. I fell for the name. 3. Next to busy highway and streets. Woke up several times in the middle of the night to the sounds of fire trucks and cars and trucks.
Lobby bar. Walking distance from amtrak station Phone battery was dead. Exhaust fan in Bathroom didn't work.
Not much TV did not work, no hot water in sink, changed rooms and tv still didn't work, yucky smell.
Quick booking Email confirmation that room was ready came immediately; 3hrs later was still stuck in lobby because hotel didnt have any record of booking but hotels.com assured them it was there. Bad time was had by all.
Convenient to the Amtrak station
Had everything we were looking for: pool, rec equipment, restaurant, internet, comfortable rooms with fridge, microwave, and safe. Even had a patio. The staff made every effort to make us feel welcome: said hello and asked if we needed anything each time we passed by. They accommodated every need expressed. The staff wore costumes on Halloween, which is nice for a traveler that can't be home that day. We'd stay there again. For those with allergies, they use down in their bedding but will fit your bed with an alternative if you ask. Selected "Okay" on Comfort because there was an odd cloying damp smell in the hallways throughout our stay that could be overwhelming at times. They were remodeling rooms, so might have been materials associated with new carpet or paint. Some of the fixtures didn't work correctly and the dresser had baskets instead of drawers. The cable system is from the '00s with limited selection and profers conservative outlets; no PBS, no AMC, HGTV, Comedy Central or other channels common to hotels, but has HBO. The internet is open. No password or room specific login required. We were able to access at a nearby restaurant so take care when using.
Location happened to be right for me. They charged more for delux double which was a little bigger but the hotel itself not good enough to charge more for that extra. Booking was no problem Overall it was ok and staff were kind. The price was a little high. May be prices all high in that area. They asked me credit card for in case of room service. I dont know that $50 was actually charged and redunded back.
Clean rooms, good location, free parking. Windows were not sealed well, thus there were some noise from outside.
The neighborhood. Excellent restaurants, bars, shops in walking distance. Awesomely diverse. Older hotel. Could use an update but still no problem. You are downtown so it is a little noisy and there are homeless people around. But....this is what Berkeley is so don't be surprised.
The room, facilities, and staff are great. Breakfast could use some work. It was okay, considering there is no kitchen on site. But it wasn't even good catered hot food.
Character, old world, charming. It has a good vibe. Restaurant upstairs is excellent with good selection of wine. Walking distance to Berkeley shops and other really good restaurants. The rooms were a wee bit small but comfortable. This is a very old building and built as a place of safe stay for women. There is parking but adds 20 bucks a day to your stay -not unusual.
The view of San Francisco was really nice from our room. That's the only plus I can talk about this place. Everything else. For a 3 star hotel at a premium price, it was disappointing. While the beds seemed clean, they squeaked and creaked like they were from 20+ years old. The rugs where filthy looking with stains. And don't try using the advertised pool, where you first have to sign up for an available time slot and enforced to swim laps only. The breakfast, well, if you like bagels and cereal it'll do, but overall disappointing location. Absolutely would never stay here again.
The view from my room and how quiet the location is
We had an awesome time. Staff were wonderful even when we had an issue with our room they fixed it quickly and accommodated our needs. The breakfast was good and the hotel location was beautiful. I enjoyed every bit of our stay especially since there were 11 of us. It was great .
The fact that it has a wonderful breakfast and is close to the Bay Breeze race area. The front desk employees were not as friendly as previous visits and the room was not as clean and fresh smelling as previous visits. This was our 3rd stay in this hotel and when we mentioned this the fellow at the front desk just said," oh."
Well located for SFO International airport, but out of any flight paths. Quiet marina location with convenient restaurant 2 mins walk away (Horatios). The reception staff were very helpful and friendly and the complementary breakfast was excellent. Would recommend to anyone wanting to stay within 30 mins of SFO or Oakland Airport
The weather That I can't use a prepaid master debit card to pay for hotel.
It is located next to the water with a park, walking, and biking trails it is a lovely location for families. The breakfast is good with a variety of choices. It is next to Oakland International Airport. You hear when the planes take off.
Great location, beautiful setting, friendly helpful staff.
the comfort and staff no everything was perfect in out 21 days trip was the best hotel we had
Very friendly and helpful staff, very good breakfast and nice view. They also had a shuttle that was free of charge and could use for your traveling around the city
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Location was convenient and it had all of the amenities I was looking for. No. I was very happy with it and will stay there again.
View A bit dated
Nice hotel, friendly staff, comfortable, safe. I would stay there again. Tv would lose signal sometimes while watching a program. I came down early to the lobby to order a breakfast sandwich and a Starbucks coffee, but the cafe wasn't open. The front desk offered other food from their market. It was all processed. I found peanuts and a bottled Starbucks coffee, but there was a hotel tax added to each item. Disappointed. Expensive.
Clean rooms, well maintained. Hotel and Bistro staff during all shifts is very attentive and asking how else I can be helped. Very pleasant and professional experience - am a frequent guest there and has always been a good experience.
We had to arrive late and leave early. Staff was attentive and courteous, the room was clean and very comfortable and the breakfast in the morning left us rested and energized to start our day.
The hotel is very nice over all - the rooms are well-appointed with good amenities, the free WiFi is very helpful, and the breakfast is particularly tasty. The staff is friendly and helpful as well. When we arrived, having requested an early check-in, the room we were assigned hadn't been cleaned, which should have been checked prior, but the front desk was able to quickly reassign us to another room. We were happy from then, on.
Paid extra to get a nicer room with a king size bed, instead I got a very cheap room that needed remodel with a king size bed that the sheets were too small to fit it. The sheets didn't even stretch to the edge, they were just laid on the mattress and during the night it came half off. I woke up during the night several times because of that. When complained in the morning they just said sorry to hear that but refused to give any kind of compensation.
Staff was nice. By the water. Nice pillows. Rustin the bathroom. Small room. Rooms are adjoining and there is a lockes door which other people tried to open. Ceiling in the bathroom was cracked. Bed was uncomfortable. TV remote didn't work.
It was conveniently close to my work. Manager was horrible with his customer service and could not accommodate my needs when I had issues with the room not having most outlets working to charge my devices for work. The room itself was really outdated and needed remodeling, most of their lamps didn't work either. The shower was a bit dirty and worn out. Overall a bad experience that I had to just leave.
We had a great stay. Jeremias was absolutely the BEST manager I've ever seen. Extremely helpful. He went out of his way to print out two separate sets of directions when we realized our group had been split up. He was quick to deliver extra pillows. The breakfast was fully stocked when he was there. Construction on our building started at 730am. So much for sleeping in. I was surprised we weren't warned. The last day we were there (Jeremias wasn't) breakfast was skimpy. Our plan was to lounge around until check out time but we promptly left when we realized the construction in our building wasn't stopping.
I liked the waterfront area, the pool, the breakfast was good... It was quaint & nice outside of the room. It wasn't super conveniently located to stores or anything else for that matter. The room was small. The shower was a tiny closet with no tub.
The balcony with waterfront and city views. Outdated room.
We liked the location and the friendliness of the staff. The bed was remarkably in good shape. Small room, not well maintained and a bit dirty. The linens were shabby.
It's a quiet neighborhood not much noise at night TV's need to be upgraded and the bathrooms need some work as well.
Great value great location Bar next door throwing things off the balcony at 230 in the morning
Extremely dated, dingy, barely functioning AC, pillows needed to be replaced 5 years ago.
Love the do it yourself waffle breakfast Flat screen tv did not have hookups for my digital camcorder
Quick check in. Clean and spacious rooms. Accommodations
Great location for Raiders fans. airport shuttle. Great staff
Loved the location. Felt safe, close to airport, and also close to the bay. The roads around were a little confusing.
We always get king suites with Hampton Inn, and have yet to be disappointed. This particular suite seemed a little bigger than average. Perhaps it was the floor plan.
The best beds ever! Always clean and comfortable.
The comfort of the room. The room next door sounded like the people were in our room, when they were talking. The talking woke us up at 6:00 am.
Great place to stay breakfast bar quick and easy
Clean and people were very nice there. The decor in the room was wonderful. Bathroom had a stool for ladies like me to put on their makeup. Full breakfast was the best of all. If we want to stay overnite again we would be staying there. No complaints at all!!
Simple and cleaning no
Convenient to a Chinese restaurant (east ocean - 1 block away) where we were guests for a birthday banquet. Easy to find through the Webster Street tunnel to Alameda. Cold drinks machine on every floor. Breakfast room could not accomodate all the guests wanting food at the same time. Encourage guests to take beakfast trays to their rooms.
First, I found that staying in Alameda as opposed to San Francisco, our destination, was not a bad idea at all. Parking is available and included. The room was spacious and clean. Continental breakfast was excellent; it included everything you would expect in a decent hotel. The mattresses were too soft for me, but the pillows were nice.
The staff was very welcoming and helpful. the room was spacious, clean, quiet, and comfortable to work in. I did not like it that the taxi driver who the hotel called in, did not have a meter and asked a higher price for the ride to the airport than the meter would show.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. We had a minor issue with the room which they attempted to resolve immediately. It was also nice to have a decent size room with a separate sitting and sleeping area after having been in a room for about the same price across the bay that was a third the size. It was also 2 blocks from the Fireside which is a bar that one of my friends opened. That was the only reason I was staying in Alameda at all ;-) The pancakes were pretty lousy (Sam liked the waffles though). The air conditioning would not shut off in the room and we had to have someone come and fix it. They were super helpful though and offered us another room.
Excellent buffet breakfast, helpfulness of staff
I appreciated the buffet breakfast, morning paper, fitness center and suite design of the room which allowed me to have a separate area for my laptop. It was also convenient to public transportation and close to two good restaurants and a drugstore. Moderate street noise (mainly from sirens), but not a huge problem.
Very clean facilities, quiet location.
The staff is very professional and curtious. Nothing
The staff was very nice, helpful. We've stayed there several times when in town for dance conventions, would stay there again. My only complaint on this last visit was the stiffness/hardness of the pillows... we all had sore necks the next morning.
