location and pool
The breakfast choice was very good The bed & pillows were very hard
Hotel location close to city and highway
It was convenient to the M62 The Television did not have cefax, Breakfast was extra
The hotel was warm, friendly and clean. The breakfast was particularly good as it was cooked fresh.
Well mannered helpfull staff.Good facilities and set just out of town away from noise.Good standard of cleanliness Menu in restaurant not very accomodating. Not a lot to choose from
The hotel was quite good in all areas I thought the quality of food for dinner and breakfast was very poor
Easy to find, be easier if direction of travel on M62 was mentioned Radio facility did not work
The calm air and proffessionalism of all the staff, made me feel very welcome and secure. The checking out time could have been a little later at the weekends.
Really helpful staff Hotel is shabby and needs updating
Pleasant staff, comfortable room. Good breakfast, good price. Central location None
Attentive and eager to please staff. Good breakfast Central location makes for easy walking to town centre Some aspects of cleaning.
The staff were extremely helpful, polite, and welcoming on every level. the rooms were very warm and very clean, and we had an excellent nights sleep. The breakfasts were freshly cooked to order and there was plenty of variety. The hotel was very close to the town centre.
Good breakfast, excellent staff, clean and comfortable room. No bar or lounge.
I found the cambridge lodge to be in great location, staff friendly and room very clean and comfortable
Very central, friendly staff. Comfy room. None whatsoever
The staff were very welcoming and helpful eg we were able to leave our luggage and pick it up later. The room was clean, quiet and pleasant and the facilities good. Nothing...all good
The staff were excellent, made sure everything was to our satisfaction. Nothing
helpful staff, lovely and warm on a freezing weekend, comfey beds, and central to city. no bar, but reccommended great real ale pub 5mins walk away.
Hotel needed some TLC around the edges but staff very helpful. Good value. Furrniture in the room needed updating.
Close to the event we were attending at Brockholes and the warm friendly atmosphere. Noise from upstairs and outside car door banging.
The area and appearance
It was lovely & warm The shower could do to be a bit more powerful!!
Size of room and bathroom as well as comfort staff very helpful
no one rushes you food ha improved we were fine but others were maoning how long it took to get the eggs for their breakfast room 101 we had we arrived about 20 hundred hours window had been left opened net curtain was out of window and wet and heating was off we were tired and cold after a 6 hour journey my husband had to climb on chair to close window and he manage to turn heating on fire alarm went off when in bath but no one annouce it was false alarm got out quickly and then fire alarm went off
Lovely hotel, staff very nice. very good value for mony especially as breakfast was included in the price.
The bathroom The attitude of the receptionist
restaurant was great didn't like the shower in my room as it was set up for a wheel chair user so didn't go up very high.
The room was very clean and the beds were fantastic.
prego restaurant small room
The cooked Breakfast was warm / cold
Quietand it has a very good restaurant.
the room it was clean and tidy and comfortable
The warmth of the hotel on a cold day I would have liked a teaspoon in the bedroom to stir my hot chocolate
Food and the staff were excellent. The staff made you feel very welcolm
Very attentive staff who helped to make you feel special. A perfect get away from everyday life
Stayed in the best room which was fabulous staff extremely pleasant Vegetarian menu limited, a comment to vegetarians to ask us to cook it is reccommended
Friendly staff and most pleasant ambience. Excellent breakfast and evening meal. There seemed to be an extractor fan blowing outside all night.
The restaurant room was too warm ...
The atmosphere in the resteraunt / bar was excellent and the food was fantastic The location is difficult to get to, particularly at night. Don't put the postcode in a Sat Nav!!!
Breakfast was excellent however there is no need to charge a supplement for cooked breakfast We arrived at 9 pm - it was a struggle to get food at this time. Also we had requested twin beds but got a double however it was changed after about a half hour- last thing you need after a long day
The gardens of the hotel, beautiful sank garden, excellent food and the coffee, very poor and thin and we mentioned this to the manager
Friendly and helpful statt, who went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our stay.
The location and ambience of Holdsworth House, the Millienium garden and the peaceful setting. The staff were courteous and very helpful, but unobtrusive. No comments
Had an excellent dinner in the restaurant, lovely food and good wine choice. Also the bed was larger than in most hotels and very comfy too. Bathroom was a bit small, and had no window or extractor so got quite humid/wet.
Pretty good but the food was pretentious and not quite there. The Chef needs to be told to the simple things well and let the food speak not the menu.
very enjoyable i would visit again
I have stayed at Holdsworth House a couple of times now - it is a great place made more special by the staff, all of which are very friendly and helpful.
Very helpful staff, especially with regard to children, great food. Unimaginative room, small bathroom.
Staff were extremely helpful, polite and professional, a real credit to the hotel. Quite cold in the rooms, heating didn't appear to be working. Bathroom was quite tired in appearance.
We wanted a hotel within walkling distance from theatre and restaurants that was affordable and comfortable. This hotel ticked all the boxes. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast plentyful and good. Room clean and tidy. Price excellent. Would recommend it if you want to stay in town for a quick overnight stay.
It was a delight - in a great situation in the woods which made it easy for doggy walking. I and my dog were made to feel very welcome
The staff were excellent as was the quality of food. Unfortunately the weather was poor during our stay and the roure tot he hotel from the lodges was waterlogged.
The total relaxation, the beautiful surroundings, the restauant was excellent and apart from the private hot tub not working on the first night everything was perfect.
The staff were unfailingly friendly and efficient. Also, the accommodation is very unusual -- my room was in a superbly built log cabin within the woods about two minutes walk from the main hotel building -- great facilities (free wireless Internet, swimming pool, gym) and sense of tranquility. The food is excellent too -- I ate in the bar and in the restaurant and both served reasonably meals of an unusually high standard.
fair prices in the bar jack johnson music all the time. petty i know but it get to you in the end
The bar / restaurant Cleanliness and heat of room!
The rooms were ok. Hotel is very dated, my shower did not work and breakfast did not start until 7.30 meaning that as I was travelling on business and had an early start I could not eat breakfast. They did offer some toast however.
Intimate, romantic, relaxing. Food was amazing as were the views and the room. No slippers in the room enquirer about them twice as they. Were on the booking. Only confirmed to me on checking out none available but got surcharge on room service escorted which made up for it. But a phone call or visit to the room with an update would have helped
Relaxing atmosphere and enjoyable pool and jacussi Poor service at breakfast opened jams at table not informed of breakfast routine
The spa is great and the evening dining was nice. Lovely location. Room was shabby and in need of serious TLC.
The location of the hotel and the attached restaurant are the main attractions for us. This was our third stay at the Briar Court in as many months and we use it as a convenient stop-over enroute between Essex and Fife. There seem to have been computer related problems with our reservation made via Booking.Com in that the requested rear-facing ground floor rooms (2) were not available due to "weekend cleaning staff leaving some rooms unprepared." This minor issue was resolved to some extent but I got little sleep that night as the allocated room was facing the busy main road.
Very nice hotel that is close to town and just off the motorway. The room was very clean and nice hot shower - all added up to a great nights sleep - topped off with a great breakfast.
Staff very good, the hotel was spotless and the service was very good The Matress on the Bed in our room was very uncomfortable causing us to wake on and off all during the night
The breakfast facilities were very good, staff were efficient and the full English breakfast was excellent Loose toilet seat. Faulty radiator valve,.
The staff were very helpful
We were very impressed with Chris on Reception. He could not have been more helpful in sorting out a room for us. All staff were very courteous and we enjoyed our stay with you.
Easy to find and a very friendly reception Pillows were very uncomfortable. Radiator was either full on or full off, making room either too hot or too cold. No restaurant in hotel - only the Italian linked to the hotel, which had a 1 hour waiting time.
Rooms really had a fresh smell The wifi internet connection only works at a few rooms, access is arranged in a old fashioned way.
I wanted a comfortable room in pleasant surroundings and quality food. This is what I got. No.
the food was lovely and staff very friendly. n/a
very enjoyable. The hotel provided a fine menu for an evening meal but what impressed me was the attention to detail in the room. No
Plenty of good wholesome food in large portions. The room was far too hot and a little noisy.
The hotel met all of my expectations no
friendly staff who changed our room from the attic area to first floor rather old fashioned and dowdy
the hotel was very central & on site parking was available, the breakfast was perhaps the best "english" I have ever experienced the room was a bit small & dated
Friendly staff, good beer, big breakfast (couldn't eat it all), excellent location for Picturedrome i.e next to it! Car park is a bit tight but I managed to squeeze into the last space. Anyone arriving after me would have struggled.
the meals were great
Chosen on the net No
very central, easy to find, food was very good and reasonably priced. drink prices were more expensive than other establishments around this area.
The location was perfect, across from train station. The place was attractive and reasonably priced in the market. There was no access to the internet, and the hotel staff were uninformed about where such access could be found. Also, there was minimal information about local community services.
being left to our own devices and not being troubled un-necessarily by staff.
The staff were very friendly and willing to joke around whilst being extremely efficient and eager to help. They went out of their way to do things for me, and did them very well. I had read online reviews from 2005 which said the hotel was grotty, etc., but either people have incredibly exacting standards or they have had refurbishment because the room looked just fine to me. 3 stars is entirely appropriate, I think.
The hotel was comfortable and clean with a gteat view just outside the front door. A gteat place to rest your head from beautiful Yorkshire sightseeing. The menu available in the bar was very limited and did not change day to day. It would have been good to have a couple of vegetarian options.
Reception staff very good. Breakfast staff bored and the whole breakfast experience was shoddy. This left a bad feeling after an otherwise very good stay.
The staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were dated but clean and functional.
Staff helpfull food good There was nothing I did not like at the hotel
Staff were overall very friendly. Location next to train station ideal for people arriving late. Food in the restaurant bar was good quality, although the choice was fairly limited. Hotel is in a fairly old building so there was no double glazing in the room and there was some noise from roads and neighbouring buildings.
The staff there were very friendly and helpfull.
Have stayed there many times, it is convenient for the railway station and Halifax centre, some rooms are better and quieter than others, but the hotel is usually ok.
it was convenient for our travelling, clean tidy and friendly just that the leisure facilities were not open
staff really helpful and friendly standard of room service food disappointing especially the childrens food. Also the attitude of the ? hotel gym members a bit brusque.
The pool and gym facilities were an added bonus and very good. We got upgraded to a larger room but unfotunately it was a smoking room - to be fair, as we were only staying one night it wasn't a big deal but it would have been nice to have been asked if we minded being in a smoking room as we would have declined the upgrade.
I liked the swimming pool and suana facilities. The staff was also very friendly and the it was a very good value for money. the furniture and decoration (particularly of the room) was not up to the normal standards of Holiday inn.
Convenient, comfortable and plenty of free parking unfortunately there was a smell from the drains in our bathroom
very clean, good situ off M62 food was Ok not brilliant
Leisure facilities Price of breakfast!
The gym. Does not strike me as being particularly worthy of the difference in price when compared to a Premier Inn, which has more ambience in their Beefeaters/Brewers Fayre (attached) restaurants.
excellent accessand staff
Due to the fact that the swimming pool was closed and my collegues from work booked the same rooms at the same price but included breakfast and ours did not I rather hoped that a discount would have been offered
